[Chad DeDominicis] There it is from Tage. “We get too high on ourselves. We think we’re better than we are.” How long will this go on for?

  1. Reminder that this team is actively on the longest playoff drought in NHL history.

Maybe get a coach that hasn’t mentally retired 3 years ago.

  2. Surely this has to be on coaching right? How the fuck can these players honestly not be ready to play against such a shit team?

  3. This will go on until there is leadership in the room..

Lindy is a good coach but last night Tuch, Powers. Timmins, Rosen and Dunne should have never seen the ice in the third

Tuch looks like shell of himself..late in d zone poor puck decisions

Power will not tie up sticks in front..weak on black outs ..terrible decisions against Edmonton
    Poor d zone awareness

Timmins inconsistent lately last night losing his man. Late in box outs

Rosen coasted last night too often late to cover

Duane terrible play along boards costing a penalty poor puck battles

Yes there are injuries and illnesses but that does not mean you can’t play hard on the puck , tie up sticks

  4. In another thread about Thompson’s post game comments, we learned that this kind of comment isn’t a big deal, and doesn’t mean it the way it sounds. Saying his teammates think they’re better than they are as a whole, and that they don’t respect the game, is highly damming of this entire organization.

  5. I think this runs deeper than GM, coach or even current roster, it’s a cultural issue with who’s running the organization. This team (and I think it extends even to the Bills a little too at times) consistently has this idea they’ve “made it” and can play down to competition despite the fact they’ve earned nothing. But it’s persisted too long through roster, coaching and management changes, it has to come from somewhere higher up.

  6. Don’t blast the guy for saying what everybody knows. They know it too.

The problem is they don’t realize that winning is probably the most grueling job known to man.  Everyday you got to get up knowing that someone out there wants to be the best and use you as an example.  When you’re hurt, when you have other things you’d rather do, when you can barely drag yourself out of bed, you have to put in the work. No one else is going to demand that out of you. You have to demand that out of yourself. You have to show yourself as much as anyone that you have, what it takes. And it takes a lot.

    These guys aren’t there yet.

  7. Always the case with teams that have struggled . Especially young teams . Everyone wants to be better especially in a hockey market like Buffalo.

  8. I’m sorry, you’re 7-9-4. How could the thought of being good even cross your mind??

  9. They played like the win vs Edmonton was the end all be all. So makes sense. Maybe get a coach that says in practice you’re in last place in the east and haven’t made the playoffs. If you’re happy with that we have a long way to go

  10. Glad to see Tage is beginning his ROR/Eichel Hero’s Journey to eventually win a Stanley Cup with another team.

  11. This is almost funny.

“We think we’re better than we are” meaning they get fooled into thinking they’re .500 or something?

It would be hard for them to think they were worse than they are.

  12. *In what. fucking. universe*. is a team whose postseason drought is tied for worst active amongst the 4 major North American sports even ***CAPABLE OF GETTING TOO HIGH ON ITSELF?***

  13. Imagine being high and mighty on two game win streaks. Maybe it’s why they can’t ever seem to break three in a row.

  14. Same as its been for 10 years. That Calgary game last night was the most predictable loss in the world.

For every stretch of good hockey they have, its matched by an equal or worse stretch of hockey that puts them back in the standings again. Any opportunity to get into a playoff spot, or win a 4 point game against a team they are chasing, or beat a bottom tier team is almost always a loss.

  15. So it’s gotta be a massive culture problem, right? I mean, what’s the tally on how many former Sabres have gone elsewhere and won cups and awards? The talent has been there but they can’t get anyone to buy in to save their lives.
