Astros trading of Mauricio Dubón explained

  1. The moves give the Astros some payroll flexibility in their pursuit of pitching, which is their biggest need this winter. Urías and Dubón, both of whom were in their third year of arbitration, had one year of control remaining and were likely to get non-tendered by the Astros prior to Friday’s deadline. Allen has three years of team control remaining and is arbitration-eligible for the first time.

  2. I get it. But it’s tough to watch teams like the Yankees and Dodgers reload every year, while it’s all about saving money for the Astros. If Brown lands a big arm, great. But we all know he won’t.

  3. Never thought I’d see people dooming over a light hitting utility player. Get a grip people, half of you wanted to fire him into the sun in 2022.

  4. Regardless, sad to see him go. Gotta stop making players my favorites cause this is now the 3rd time they’ve been traded or left… Correa and Springer too

  5. I still don’t like it, even if we do need pitching. I’m sure like ever trade the Astros make, it’ll come around to bite us in the ass.
