The Seattle Seahawks Just Got A WHOLE BUNCH Of Injury News

[Music] Oh boy, do we have a whole bunch of injury news surrounding the Seattle Seahawks today. Welcome in to Seahawks Today. I’m your host, Will Ortner, and we’re going to dive into some key injuries for your Seattle Seahawks, as well as uh some other injury news that frankly we’ve been asking about what was going to happen with these two players the entire season, and we finally get a much clearer picture on them. Starting with Jonathan Henkins, the defensive tackle has spent most of his career bouncing around the NFL playing a lot of time over with the Cowboys. Thought to be brought in for your Seattle Seahawks and being a key member of this defensive squad. Hasn’t been able to play, missed most of training camp and this entire season so far with a back injury. Head coach Mike McDonald did go into his presser and said that Henkins is going to be done for the year. As soon as that news broke, I went and tweeted this out on my Twitter, Will Orton. That’s the real one, by the way. Go and follow me for the latest breaking Seahawks news. No Jonathan Henkins for the rest of the year for the Seahawks. And to be honest, it might be the end of Henkins career. Now, why am I saying this around Jonathan Henkins? I’m not trying to be mean. It’s just when you have a player that is past 30 years old, especially playing in the interior of a defensive line, you take a lot of body blows. You take a lot of shots. It’s not easy for a human being to be as big as we ask defensive tackles, as well as move as quickly as we ask players to move at that size. And remember, the injury for Henkins is a back injury. Now, there is no word yet on if he had surgery or not, but the minute that you start having knee injuries, back injuries, and shoulder injuries, that’s when people start getting worried. And with Henkins, with his age, you factor in the the point that this year he hasn’t been able to come back from the injury. I do wonder if it is the end of a wonderful career for him. I hope I’m wrong. I hope I’m wrong, but it does feel like it might be the end for Henkins. Now, the other player that a lot of people have been asking questions about is defensive tackle Riley Mills. Now, the rookie coming out of Notre Dame has not been available all year because he’s been dealing with a torn ACL that he suffered last year in the college football playoff when Notre Dame hosted Indiana and they ended up getting a big victory in that one. Mills would fit right into that defensive tackle spot. Could learn under Jiren Reed ended up becoming a key member of this Seahawks defense. This is coming from Brady Henderson over on ESPN and he tweeted, “Mike McDonald said it did look like defensive lineman Riley Mills is a couple weeks away from being able to practice.” That about fits, right? He would have torn his ACL middle of December, beginningish of December. Uh so that’s about a year that tracks. The fifth round pick from Notre Dame has been on the NFI while working back from his December ACL tear. given the layoff, he would still need several weeks to practice before he’s ready to play. So for me, that’s one where I don’t know that you are going to be able to see Riley Mills come in and play this season. Now, the reason for that, it just is going to take a significant amount of time, not for him to be able to just practice, but to be able to be put out on the field and play. It might not be a bad idea to let him build up over the whole year. treat it like he’s almost getting an extra red shirt year back when he was playing in college and then hit the ground running next season for the Seattle Seahawks. Let me know though, look into your crystal ball. Do you think we’re going to see defensive tackle Riley Mills this year? Personally, I don’t. I think that in the best interest of him and with where he’s been at in his recovery, let’s wait until next year to see him play, but you know, I’m not a doctor. I might be wrong. Let me know down below in the comments if you think we’re going to see Riley Mills at some point this season. Now, Mike McDonald did go in to mention three key injuries for your Seattle Seahawks, and we’re going to go through each one of them one by one, and talk about what the injury is, do we expect to see them this week against Tennessee, and honestly, my opinion on if we should see them this week against Tennessee? The first key injury that we’re going to dive into is Tyrese Knight. He’s been dealing uh with a concussion. Everyone remembers that kickoff down against the Rams. He comes down there and absolutely lays the freaking wood on that returner for the Rams and unfortunately gave himself a little bit of a concussion there. Now, Knight has been playing extremely well. Obviously, a lot of people have seen the sideline discussion that he had where he was telling Ernest Jones and telling the rest of the Seahawks, “Hey, I’m finally healthy. I’m finally playing at the speed I can.” They were praying on my downfall and now look at where I’m at. He is your second leading tackler for the Seahawks despite only having a handful of starts this season. Obviously, he lost that Will linebacker starting role to Drake Thomas, but he did get a couple of or at least one start with Ernest Jones out and was getting more playing time as well after the Commanders game when Jones left in the middle of that one. So, it would be a big loss if you don’t have Knight, especially if there is another injury to that linebacker position. A little bit of a thinner spot for the Seahawks, but at this point, we haven’t seen too many people come back week of after getting a concussion the week before. might not be a bad idea to let him rest, recover, work his way back. You’re not going to need Knight against the Titans. The next key player that you did not see practice for the Seahawks on Wednesday was wide receiver Tory Horton. Now, he’s still dealing with that shin and groin injury. Is there a chance that he ends up practicing later this week and we get to see him back in action? Because when the rookie has been in action, he’s found the end zone a lot of times for your Seattle Seahawks. I’ll let you know that here in just a moment, but before I do, I got to let you know about the proud sponsor of today’s video, and that of course is our good friends over at Prize Picks. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right now. the speedster out of Colorado State had to deal with, you know, some significant injuries in college and at this point it’s a little bit worrisome to me at least that he’s already dealing with multiple injuries now in his first year as a Seattle Seahawk. Obviously, he had that ankle sprain that he dealt with during uh training camp as well as the preeason and then now he’s dealing with a shin and groin injury that he ended up suffering over in practice. Now, what I do think is important when you look at his output, he doesn’t have a ton of receptions, but they all mean a lot because for those 13 receptions, he’s got five touchdowns. And what’s more important, he also has a punt return as well. He’s a dynamic player, but with Horton being out, it’s even bigger that the Seahawks went out and got Rasheed Shahed because you’re seeing him not only fill that role that Horton was at, but excel in it. I think that if you can get Horton back and let him kind of play alongside Shahed, you’re really going to open things up, not just for those two and JSN, but for AJ Barner as well. He ended up having 10 catches against the Rams because the Rams weren’t going to let JSN beat him. Still got a hundred. They weren’t going to let Rasheed Shahed beat him. He’s about a fingertip away from Emanuel Forbes from having a big day. But AJ Barner end up getting 10 Tuddies. Horton coming back for the team is going to open up a lot of things for the Seahawks. But I will say this, I don’t know that I need to see him against the Tennessee Titans. They suck. Let him rest. Let him recover. The last key injury is probably the biggest, and that’s your offensive lineman, Gray Zable. I think when he went down immediately, we all thought the same thing. Oh no, he’s going to be done for the year. Because the minute that you cannot walk off the field, you have to be helped off. Especially as a lineman, it’s a point of pride to walk off the field when you do have an injury. That means it’s really, really bad more often than not. Now, he did get imaging done. Obviously, it was revealed that he doesn’t have any significant knee injury issues. That being said, in my eyes, let the rookie rest. You don’t necessarily need him against the Tennessee Titans. Frankly, you might not necessarily need him against the Minnesota Vikings, but I’d rather have Gray Zable available for that Vikings game than have him play in this Titans game and then end up missing a bunch of time. He’s been fantastic. Hasn’t allowed a sack this year. is run blocking. It fits with the system that you want to play in Seattle. And look, I know that you’re probably going to have to deal with another Christian Haynes game. But if I’m going to deal with the Christian Haynes game, I’d rather deal with it against the Tennessee Titans than maybe, let’s say, the Colts or the Rams when you play them part two or even the San Francisco 49ers when you play them part two as well. I want you to sound off right now. I think this week shortterm, I’m not too worried about the Seahawks injuries. That being said, if this continues continues, continues, I might be a little bit worried for them as well. Are you worried about the Seahawks injuries? Let me know down below in the comments. Here’s the entire practice uh report for Wednesday. All the guys who either missed some time with injuries or, you know, uh were limited participants in this practice. Kobe Bryant and uh Nick Emanry, I’m okay with both of them on a Wednesday. Eman Worry ends up being a full participant. Kobe Bryant has a limited uh participation there. As long as both of them are out and moving around in some way, that’s a big deal. Ernest Jones, no issues, full participant. I think that’s huge. Let some of the older guys rest. JSN, Leonard Williams, Demarcus Lawrence, they’ve been balling out this year. Obviously, head coach Mike McDonald said that he’s going to a more physical brand of practice on Wednesdays because the team needs it. Well, you know who doesn’t need it? Those three guys. Let them rest. Let them recover. The other one to keep an eye on as well uh is Robbie OTS. He ends up missing practice. He did have an elbow, but he also had a personal manner uh matter there. So, make sure that you know you send some positive vibes uh to him that way. I’ve said it already. I’m not worried about the Seahawks or their injuries for the Titans game. In fact, I’m completely comfortable with all three of those guys not going out, not participating in this matchup. I think that you can beat the Titans with your left hand tied behind your back. That’s not me looking at an NFL team and completely disrespecting them. I just think there’s utter chaos right now in Nashville. I don’t think that they are built for short-term success and it’s going to take um quite a while to get some long-term success there as well. They have a good quarterback, but right now, I mean, that that rookie QB is just getting beat up on. I think Ward will turn into something. I’m a little biased because he’s a former Coug kind of, but I will say this. I think it’s best to let all three of your main guys that are on those key injury reports, Knight, Zable, and Horton, let him rest. You don’t need them to win this game. Let him rest. Let him recover. Let him hit the ground running when it’s most important. The other thing that I do want to mention because it kind of came out as we started filming this show. Julian Love is on track to return to the team after this week because that is when his uh injury uh his time on IR would end up ending. Be smart with Julian Love when you bring him back. Treat him like the other three. Ease him back into it. No need to rush him. Your safeties have been playing absolutely fantastic. Make sure you head over on social media.
