Mark Williams Phoenix Suns Practice Media | 11-20-25

How about Mark? Obviously got a few stretches, three games here, four days going through that knowing that some of the tough potential. Yeah, it’s a tough stretch. Uh what is the sun in 10 days maybe? Um feeling good though. You got to take it one game at a time. Obviously tomorrow Minnesota. Here’s where you are in terms of back to back because here Yeah, my body’s feeling good. Um, I just continue to talk with the staff about it and go from there. Uh I don’t really have any update because conversations have been those conversations like about Yeah, I mean usually just after each game, checking in, see how my body is feeling. Um obviously Portland, we got out of that game. I didn’t play in the fourth. I was not in the third quarter. So I think it’s more of a game byame thing. Um, I’ve been hovering around the same minutes though when when necessary. Um, so I think it’s just a game like one of these deals with this team. Are you surprised guys only play one game? [Applause] Are you surprised? Why not? I wouldn’t say surprised. Um, I feel like we instilled a lot of good things this summer. You know, everybody’s been here. We’ve been working hard. We’ve done a lot of good things. And I think we’re just applying it to a different opponent. Um, honestly, I think there’s some games early in the year that we should have won that we lost. So, um, I wouldn’t say I’m surprised at all. A bunch of you guys went to Jaylen’s high school. What was that moment like in general? Yeah, it was cool. Um, obviously to see where he played. Um, obviously all his teachers and, uh, old teammates that came back. Uh it was pretty cool to see uh just that whole environment. They all love to see him there and it was a cool experience. How important is it for you and the team to kind of uh do do that for each other and show up in support? Yeah, you know, we just want to support our brother. Um obviously a moment like that super special. Um and he’s been out too. So I know for us to be there I think it was a good showing of support for him and I know he really think about that [Applause] kind of or why I did there how would you uh I think he was really appreciative um like I think he was there for 3 Um, a lot of the teachers and coaches and stuff were the same. So, I think for him it was just a full circle moment. Uh, curious, this is the most efficient you’ve been from like that intermediate floater range, showing up a lot of footwork. Um, shooting like 40 something% in that range right now. Just, uh, how much work or practice has gone into that? Like you’re not you’re not all at the rim, but you still need to convert. Yeah. Um, a lot of work. Um, obviously when you can’t dunk, you got to find a way to finish around the basket. Um, finishing over defenders, uh, over size. Just trying to find a way. You know, floers are usually, uh, the most efficient way. So, glad I’m making need to make a couple more. Yeah. um these last couple games he’s done a really good job. Um whether he’s switching on defense, really being adaptable offensively, just rolling hard to the rim, giving us extra possessions, he’s done a lot of good things. So I think for him just keeping his head, staying level. Um obviously there’s a lot of a lot of waves in the season, it’s a lot of games, you know, it’s not going to always be perfect. So just trying to, you know, keep the work consistent and uh everything will take care of itself. I mean seems to be sitting down. You come out and also go in front. [Applause] Why do you think it’s uh I don’t know if I’d say surprised? Um I think it’s just work. Like when you do it for a couple games too, I think everybody kind of understands like this usually where I come in. This usually where I come out. So just like consistency, flow, I think that just allows for production to be better. been able to get to like talking about that. Is that just a natural progression on the offense or is that more taking you? Uh I think the up and under in particular with Clayton just cuz he was such a bigger body and he was trying to jump um just trying to get him off his feet. Um but I think scoring the ball just being a lot more assertive when I get it. Um, I think just opens a lot more for us offensively. Um, so just taking the initiative for sure. Uh, being strong with the ball, trying to finish at the rim, get a lot of good shots. [Applause] What is it about this system that allows you guys to be so? Yeah. Uh, I think it’s a a team mentality really. Just next man up. Um, obviously, uh, with D being out the last couple games, Jaylen being out, um, I think for us, we just want to support our guys, um, just be there for them and, you know, they’re there for us. You know, they’re on the bench supported, engaged, um, every time out. So, I think it’s just, um, us being a team. Is it rare for a team to kind of come together like you guys have? Um, [Music] I mean, I can’t really speak for every team, but it it’s happened pretty quick for us. Um, I think part of it was us everybody being here this summer as early as we were. Um, but I think even off the court, like we hang out with each other. I think everybody likes each other. I think that makes a difference.
