Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on doing what it takes to win | Post Game Media | November 19, 2025
Shay, what’ you feel in that fourth quarter in terms of the the guys, you know, doing enough to to break away and you guys making the plays that you needed to down the stretch? Yeah. Um, you just did a good job of doing whatever it t took to win tonight. Like the game presents a challenge. Every night looks different. Some nights the challenge is bigger than others. Um, but your goal at the end of night is to win. Um, we we controlled the whole game. um playing the right way um and doing it together and uh wasn’t our best night, but we we did enough to him because of that. They flipped to a zone coming out of a timeout in that first half. I think you guys scored like seven straight points on it right away. Do you feel like, you know, that’s something this year that that quick trigger to be able to kind of attack that? Uh is it maybe even at a higher level than last year? Yeah. Um, we saw a lot of zone, especially in the series with Denver. Um, so naturally just seeing that so much. Um, and a team that late in the season using that as a weapon against us just kind of forced us to grow in that area. Um, we definitely taken strides and are a better team because of it. But, uh, it’s definitely, um, something that we we uh, we focus on and try to improve on a daily basis. What did you think of the four guard lineup you guys went with late? Say again, sir. The four the four guard lineup you guys went uh you took one of your bigs out and went with four guards. What did you think of that? Yeah. Um to be honest with you, like coach changes the lineup so much throughout the game. I don’t even like I don’t even like really realize. Um, we have have been like we’ve come accustomed to playing in so many different lineups, matchups, going small, going big. Uh, that like it was no, it was it didn’t feel like a change out there. I honestly didn’t even notice that there was four guards out there. Um, so yeah, it felt like it like it always does. Shay, you’ve been shooting nearly 50% from deep in the last nine games. Just what’s been working so well for you? Was there something specific or is it more so just law of averages? Eventually they start dropping for you. Yeah. Uh yeah, just me taking shots that I’m comfortable taking. Um and uh playing through the ups and downs of the game of basketball. You’re going to miss some that you shouldn’t make. You’re going to make some you shouldn’t miss and you’re going to you’re going to make the ones you’re supposed to make sometimes. So being confident through all that was the main thing. Um, and then shooting shots that I I work on a lot and and uncomfortable shooting and a bit of a different question, but was announced in the kill sign with Converse. Just what’s your reaction to that and how cool is that to see? Yeah, it’s amazing. Um, I’m happy for him. Got for the opportunity. Uh, but yeah, it’s amazing. It feels good. You seem more comfortable throwing like some more fancy passes. Is that something that you are like worked on intentionally over the offseason or was that just coming naturally in the flow of the game? Yeah, naturally. Yeah, I didn’t work on it at all. Just happens, I guess. And what did you think of the jerseys and and the court? I liked it tonight. I liked it a lot. It’s far. Uh, and for the last five games, Chad has scored 20 or more. What have you seen from him of sort of just adding yet another level to his scoring this season? Yeah. Um, he’s just getting his feet underneath them, getting more comfortable as the games as the games go on. Like we all knew like Chad would be this type of player. He’s not done growing. Like who he is today is no surprise to any of us. He can do so many things on the basketball court at such a high level. Like the more reps he gets, more games he plays, just going to see him continue to grow um and get better. and we’re seeing that. Um, another question on um, Nquille. Um, you really taken like an active role in um, shaping Converse’s, you know, brand and everything. What made him uh, I guess the correct choice moving forward with Converse? Um, he’s good at basketball. He’s stylish. Um, he’s creative on and off the court. and he’s blood. And then uh I had a couple people on Instagram asking me about your boots that you wore I think in the last game. The brown boots. Um can you share the designer or the brand that you were wearing? What boots was I wear? They were like like light brown boots and it was the last game um in New Orleans. I don’t I don’t know what those are. Vintage I believe like I think got them from Mitch store. Yeah.
