NHL Highlights | Capitals vs. Canadiens – November 20, 2025

As the Caps and Habs meet, Martan San Louise troops were dispatched from the Stanley Cup playoffs a season ago by the Capitals in five. Alexe Proise AV power play time for Washington. The Caps are ranked 30th on the circuit. Akin right off the draw. He scores. Wasting no time with a bullet. 1 second. That’s how fast that baby got off the captain’s stick in a hurry. The Caps have the lead games. And here we’ve seen it so often. Nobody goes out fast at him. He’s able to tee it up on a beautiful drop from Dylan Stro. Stro, by the way, is the leader when it comes to faceoff effectiveness for the Caps. He’s operating at 58 plus percent on the season. That’s a beauty. What a Gallagher. Plays it on top for Dobson. They rotate for Deita. Dobson leans in and fires. Stopped there. Rebound at the goal line. No, kept out and finally a whistle. Montreal fans were ready to celebrate. Lindred and his defense core said, “Uh-uh.” And the referee had a great vantage point. Watch in front of the net. There’s Gallagher getting a piece of it. There’s the puck. That is tight. Oh, yeah. It is. And then finally, you see the horn go off and they’re going to call the referees over to have a look at this, Joe. The bouncing puck. It’s actually on edge, it looks like, when it gets to the goal line. And there it is on edge, but whacked out by Matt Roy preventing that puck to go completely over in the Leonard. Straightaway. Stro Leonard has a better shooting lane now. Doesn’t pull the trigger. Stro feeds. Leonard broke his stick. Kovichkin right out of the box had his drive blocked. You make a good point about Stro. He had the puck on his stick. Shot score. Ethan Frank. How about that shot? That was a fetchesque the way Frank got that loose puck. Bad clear and he rips it past Bont Tempo. Frank, nice looking shot. There’s the Obi chance. Watch a puck come to the point. It gets down low. Obie right to the slot and he just rips it. Obie’s one and one in this hockey game. What a pass to Ethan Frank. An even better release making sure the back pressure doesn’t lift up his stick. He rifles it into the top corner. Caps have an early second period lead. Pierre Luke Dubois, the Quebec native missing this game. You know that he would love to have played here in his home province. Prous to the goal scorer Frank who pumps it. He scores. Back-to- back strikes for Ethan Frank. Goal one and game goal two on the season for Ethan Frank. And that might be it for Montebo. I see the goalending in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs a season ago where these two teams met. It was Montebo’s injury that gave way to Doesh. Montembbo who has lost three of his last four decisions turns the cage over to 24y old Yakub Dashesh of the Czech Republic. Yeah, Monto came in one under five. Jared Davidson on the ice 49 in the red working with Gallagher and Valeno. This is a fourthline trio for San Louie. Kerier on the hook back to mid ice. fires. Rebounded doorstep pad save Lindren. An amazing stop there. Mutual insurance. Yeah, watch Veno right in front of the net. He’s looking for his first of the year. Shot comes through. Redirected. Looks like he’s got daylight. He did. But how about that right pad not able to get through Valeno. Gallagher off the steel. Great recovery speed by Faravari. He had the stick chopped out of his hands. He was looking for a call. He would have got it in the first period, but not here in the second. Mat fakes. Holds. Nice look. Little top shot. They keep the puck alive. And when Marty just got his stick back and there’s Bavilier trying to recover, you could see the goalender on the rink wide pass just trying to cup it down. Less than six minutes to play in period two. Sherin alone fires to the stop. Rebound there. He got a pad down on Proise. That pinpoint accuracy when it comes to passing. Well done by the Caps. Wilson came up high. Closing in. Score. A cannon shot from Chickridge. Well, it all starts with the passing. The Capital snapping that puck around. You could hear that all the way up here in the booth where we are. And it finally pays off. couldn’t get up in time. He’s in the corner. They pass it to Chickin. No one in coverage and he just unloads it. Nobody in red in the blocking lane or anywhere defensively to take the chicken slap shot. That’s got to be 100 mph. Plus, the Caps have a two-goal lead. Cfield trapped along the boards by Farravari. Canadians punch it back out. This is Suzuki on the go. Hudson jumping into the rush. Not able to get that pass to the slot. Slapper on the way blocked. Followup score Suzuki and there was a delayed penalty coming against Washington. Back and forth we go. It’s a one-goal game. Field in their first line. There’s the shot. The rebound goes right across and there it is in the net in a flash. Suzuki’s got his fifth goal of the season. He had 30 markers last year. You see that hit the D’s foot. That hurt. And then here’s the hooking call. It would have been right there, but they kept it alive. Bold gives it back and there you see the puck hammered in with an assist from Roy who goes face first to the boards. Valeno one-on-one lost it on the shimmy. Ethan Frank who has two goals on for Milano. He’s got room. Forehand score. Sunny Milano. Way to go Sunny. Bags his second of the year. Showing off great speed are the caps here in this hockey game. Watch Kier left in the middle of the screen here. There he loses his footing. That gives some daylight for Milano to dart to the net. And watch the hands at the end of the line. Just dandy. Beautiful shot past the blocker. Do sliding the opposite way. The Caps are up five to three. Balduk in tight quarters for Suzuki. No room for Caulfield from Matt Roy. Caps have done a great job against their top trio here tonight. Cfield spots the open man. Mat pumps it home. It’s 54. That’s Mat sneaking in. Check him coming out here. Just waltes up and fires it through and past his body and in front of the net. the goalender screen. You can see Vervari just trying to move out of his eyes and let him see that quote unquote the 200t game. He played a 200t game there abouts. It’s sort of on his last ship. Lane Hudson. Boy, is he fun to watch. Wow. Cole, please can you be that good? Here come the Caps. A threeon three the other way. Strown right in. Great pass. Ovkin scores. Strowmer now has a twoon-one with OV. And there you see the pass. That’s an oldfashioned wrist shot for the Capitals captain. He’s on the board twice here tonight. And his club has a 6-4 lead. What a play all around from the breakout to Dylan Stro who can feather that pass with the best of them. He’s got another multi-assist game. Our friends Adventure Global following as this is slung back through center. Lane Hudson with 215 to go for Slapkovski. Measured there by Leonard on the move. Twoon one. Cfield fires. Lindred slams those pants together in the nick of time. Ovuchkin to the empty cage. Yes, sir. Pat hattick for Alex Ovuchkin. Career trick number 33. How great is that for this guy? 905 9006 9007 King when it comes to finding the empty net just turns around head up and you saw Hudson trying to check him but he’s already feathered that puck right into the middle of the net at the far end folks the day after Alex scores you get 50% off Ricky team gets home for a date with the Tampa Bay Lightning that’s the hockey fights cancer game coming up on Saturday last time we checked Edmonton was still one- nothing on top of Tampa in Tampa But tonight, Ethan Frank in pursuit of a hat-tick looking for Milano. Milano all day. He scores. Snowman eight on the board. It’s amazing. I mean, this is how the team played last year. The goals would just come and it’s 84 here with a buck 26 to go. Way to go, Sunny and Frank. Here’s the shot by Sunny just cruising in far side. Gobesh looked like to me he was off the angle a little bit. Frank will get another point here on a nice feed to Milano. Notice the no celebration, too. They know the game’s in hand. Lack of celebration. This will roll right to Dubesh. He’ll be saddled with the loss. He didn’t start it. Montbo did. Big blast stopped there. Rebound there for Leier. No go as they swarm the cage. The bench would have gone crazy if that blast from Mrath would have gone. The horn sounds.

Alex Ovechkin potted a hat trick and Ethen Frank posted a four-point night as the Washington Capitals exploded for an 8-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Brendan Gallagher and Mike Matheson both recorded two points in the loss.

  1. What does it take to finally sit Monty for a while? You have Dobes playing fantastic since the start of the season, yet Monty was for a lack of better word "forced" into a starter position night after night which in tern killed Dobes' own confidence, rightfully so as in what world do you have a goaltender who's playing as well as Dobes was and you still try and force this other guy who is in a slump. Feel bad for Dobes

  2. It's always the same old story in Montreal. We can see with our own eyes that Montembeault is completely broken, both technically and psychologically, same for Dobes, and it's not going to change anytime soon. The worst part is that the Canadiens had a chance to get back into the game, but it's impossible with those two…

The Penguins, meanwhile, recalled a 21-year-old unknown, Sergei Murashov 21 years old, too young, lol? A certain Fowler, 20 years old in the AHL, is supposedly the goalie of the future for the Habs. Let them bring him in and we'll live with the results.

I know it's not just the goaltenders, but they are just UNWATCHABLE right now; the players who aren't doing their job either, can see it.

  3. I don’t really understand why the habs don’t just pull the goalie for the entire game and play 6 on 5.. goals against would be the same goals for would increase and maybe they would win a few.
