Gerry Dulac Predicts “Overly Cautious” Steelers Won’t Play Aaron Rodgers vs Bears | Rich Eisen Show
Let me play the sound bite. I imagine were you at the press conference with Tomlin earlier today? Okay. Which is why you’re at the Steelers facility right now. This was Mike Tomlin on on Aaron Rogers uh wrist and his readiness for maybe this week even. Aaron’s got a a fracture in his wrist. Um it does not require surgery. Um really it’s just about bracing it and securing it uh for his comfort and safety. And then it’s about how functional he is. Um, and so we don’t have the answers to that as we stand here today. Um, but certainly I would imagine we’re going to get some clarity as we push through the week. I think his experience really kind of aids in that. Um, he’s the type of guy and has the type of profile that doesn’t require a lot of physical work and an effort to be ready to play. And again, as I mentioned, the variables are um stabilizing it and making sure that he’s safe and he can protect himself, brace himself as he falls, etc. Um pain tolerance, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue with Aaron. Uh he wanted to go back in the game on Sunday. Um and then lastly, obviously, um how effective he can be. All right, I’ll give you the floor, Jerry. What what are you what are you what’s your two cents on what you heard and what you know and what you you you can put on the table for us here? Well, um Rich, I I think they’re going to probably be overly cautious because there’s a lot of variables there that you heard Mike Tomlin just uh list and you know, one of them is functionality. How how good can he function? You know, what is it going to be like taking snaps even though the vast majority of time he’s in a shotgun? uh you know the pain issue is not going to be a factor at all for him. But then it becomes okay um you know a lot with some handoffs. Do you become a right-handed handoff guy which a lot of times he does not on play action and then you know and then it just becomes you know uh the safety issue too. What happens you know he heard it the other day when he fell and so if that happens again now all of a sudden the injury is a little bit worse. So, um, I’m going to guess based on all that that he is not going to play. I’m certainly not ruling it out, but they also know they’re comfortable that if Mason Rudolph has to play, it’d be different if different if it was just Will Howard, for example, the rookie who just came off IR. But, uh, knowing what Mason Rudolph is capable of doing and knowing the potential risk of maybe a greater injury that that injury does not, it’s a fracture, but it does not need surgery. that doesn’t mean that another hit or another bad fall uh won’t cause that to uh not be the case. So, that’s going to be my guess, but I’m not going to rule them out either, only because they haven’t. But, we’ll see. Well, I mean, if we’re talking ifs and variables, uh Jerry, I if this was say the week 15 game uh home for Miami or a week 17 game at Cleveland, right? Uh I I I would hear you saying out of abundance of caution, let’s not make it any worse. But this is Chicago, man. This is the home of the Bears. This is where he once told the fans, “I own you.” And you know, which he does, which by the way, I’m not disputing. I didn’t stutter either, right? But but this has to mean this this is Rogers no doubt pushing. He’s got to be pushing. I didn’t Tomlin even admit that he he he did bring this up like he wants to play this weekend to Tomlin, Jerry. Yes, he did. And and I’m sure he he does. and he wanted to go back in the game on Sunday according to Mike Tomlin. Of course, they didn’t because at that time they didn’t know the extent of his injury. They didn’t want to make it worse because they didn’t know what they were dealing with. That’s why they didn’t put him back in. But yes, he uh you know, he wants to play against the Bears. He’s beaten him 24 times in his career. That’s more than any other team that he has beaten in his 21 years. And there’s no active quarterback that has beaten one team more than the other than what Aaron Rogers has with the Bears. I think the next closest I think Joe Flacco has beaten the Bengals, the old Bengals like 24 times or the Browns, one of the excuse me, 18, but nobody has owned one team among active quarterbacks like Aaron Rogers has owned the Bears, right? And and you know, he wants to play the Bears cuz he in Chicago cuz he doesn’t know when he’s going to ever get that opportunity again. um schedule-wise you just it it may not this this is his one shot. So that that is definitely part of this Jerry. There’s no denying it that this week is going to be part of the dynamic. And I think too Rich what could happen is they’ll they’ll you know they could this is very real as as as well is that he will start the game and they’ll see how it is going. You know how is he performing? Is it is it a problem? uh you know in terms of uh again functionality uh and how effective he can be and then you know they can weigh it that way going forward. But this is a different Bears team too as you know Rich. I mean they’re seven and three. They’ve won seven of the last eight games. Uh the offense is really clicking with Ben Johnson. And so they’ll want to see how effective Aaron Rogers can be because uh you know I don’t think this is going to be 3431 but I think they’re going to have to score some points against the Bears. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Check us out every single day streaming live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app 12 to 3 Eastern.

If the Steelers don't play Rodgers all of Pittsburgh will be happy.
Gerry Dulac is notorious for ALWAYS being wrong. Whatever this guys says, the opposite always happens 😂
It’s Aaron Ducking Rodger’s!!
He’s playing.
Rodgers will start. They will have Mason ready if he can't play.
I'd have bounced Tomlin after the 2016 Jaguars loss. Definitely after the Antonio Brown. debacle vs. the Bengals.
We don’t need him anyways.
Let him heal until he retires. We looked instantly better with Mason in there. Can't wait to see Will take the reigns!
We dare you to come back to Chicago.
It won't matter if he plays or not, the guys at PFF said there is no difference between Rodgers and Rudolf in the passing game right now. They only thing they said is Rudolf is more mobile.
Rogers had 1 bad game , this season has NOT been his fault , its the D
No way they are going to let him play.
If Gerry “Throwing Elbow” Dulac says he won’t play, then he’s definitely playing
I wish people would stop saying, “but it’s the Bears”. What if he goes out and plays poorly and the Steelers lose? That’s actually kinds of likely. Why not put a healthy QB on the field, who, frankly, outplayed Rodgers in their previous game? It should be about giving your team the best chance to win and right now, that looks like Rudolph.
Tom Brady beat the Bills 33 times, way more than Rodgers 24 wins vs. the Bears. That's the #1 for a QB against a single opponent.
I hope he does play and own Da Bears and crybaby Caleb Williams 😂
Mason looks good play him until Aron is 100%
It’s too risky. He should sit out the rest of the year
Let him play, bears deserve the opportunity to end his career
If the Bears don't hurt him Broderick will. Just let Rudolph play damn.
Thats not the same Bears team and the Steelers aren't those Packers…The games isn't about Aaron Rodgers, its about our Steelers
Rich, respectfully as a Steelers fan. Gerry is not media member you want to get to represent the Steelers. Reach out to DK Pittsburgh sports, Nick Farabaugh, Chris Carter the goat MARK KABOLY. Gerry is the guy the tell one thing cause he'll say it and the steelers will do the BLATANT opposite. Please, look in to the other guys. Please
Play him, I want the Jag off to get sacked by a young Bears player a la Farve that ended his career. Done with his BS.
Aaron isn't going to play. He got mad when Broderick Jones jumped on him.
Edit: Plus he doesn't have the wheels anymore to constantly escape a pass rush
You’re usually wrong Dulac lol
The Bears ended Farve’s career and would love to do the same to Rodgers
Another big turnover game. 🖤💛
If that's what Dulac says then Rodgers is definitely going to play. He should be George Costanza.
He’s doesn’t if he doesn’t play. He’s too scared. it sure looks that way. We want him🙏🙏🙏🙏 He’s going to get hurt and he knows it,so I don’t blame him if he chickens out. We own him now.
It kills me to say this but. If rodgers plays against the bears I guarantee a loss for my beloved Steelers team.
Rodgers beat the bears with the packers teams. He will lose with this problematic Steelers team. Again hate saying this cause I’m a Steelers fan going on 43 yrs now.
