He's the worst center we've had the last 5 years. Even Old man Taj Gibson's wasn't as bad as a defender as Tristan and Gramps was born in 1985. He cant move his feet and refuses to defend or rebound or box out.
Why is he on the team? Is this the culture Dawkins is talking about?

  1. Its like he can’t jump unless hes shooting lol. It does LOOK a bit like hes trying at times but yeah, weird dude to figure out.

  2. I don’t imagine he’s going to be in the league in a couple years if he’s going to be such a negative on defense.

  3. Did you watch him last year? He was completely lost on D. Zero idea where and when he should be. He hasn’t improved really. But he sure can put the ball in the hoop. I don’t think he will be here long term though. Just no defensive instincts.

  4. He’s in his third season and still on a two-way contract. What more do you need to know?

The plan was maybe the lottery ticket hits and he turns in to something.

But probably not and it doesn’t matter because the hard core tank was always scheduled to last through 25-26.

He can already speak European so he’s set.

  5. Did you watch the game? He was guarding Rudy Gobert on the 3 point line, he was a deer in the headlights out there lol

  6. I wish we woulda kept Jay Huff. I just feel like he can also hit 3s and is a little more coordinated.

  7. He’s a guy that can get some buckets…. But he will likely never be a defender without hops, and lateral quickness. I know some people call for him to get PT, but there is a reason. Bags is a better reserve and that says something….

  8. He’s relatively young, mobile big, that should be able to spread the floor. If he can get the defense together, he’d be a good player or a decent trade piece. He plays Euro basketball as well, so he gets extra reps in the offseason and usually European teams want you to play defense to a certain standard. So the hope is, he’ll learn the defense while still improving on his offense. We’re a rebuilding team, we basically need to bank on players potential, but it doesn’t always pan out. Time will tell.
