🚨BOMBSHELL REPORT on New York Giants HC Search & Joe Schoen via ESPN

Coming up on today’s show, I’m going to react to Jordan Renan of ESPN as he put out an article talking about the job security of Joe Shane. He’s heard a lot from sources across the NFL about what the Giants are looking for in their next head coach and he mentions three coaches by name that he believes according to sources the Giants are destined to interview. We’re going to break all that down on today’s show, but I’m asking one more time, can you please hit that subscribe button? We are on the road to 98,000 subscribers and we are 359 subs away. If you love the Giants, you bleed Giants blue, and you want free videos, multiple videos every day, hit that sub button right now, please. [Music] This is New York Giants Now by Chat Sports. I am your host, Marshall Green. We’ll talk about those three names the New York Giants are expected to interview at the tail end of today’s show. But let’s start with Joe Shane and what the Giants are looking for in their next head coach. And also go check out Jordan’s article. It’s on ESPN. I’ll link it in the description of today’s show. Jordan wrote this saying, “While there have been some whispers about Shane’s status being tenuous, his contract runs through 2026. Multiple league sources who have spoken to the Giants believe he is likely to remain unless there is a strong head coaching candidate who wants to bring in his own general manager.” And and this is a major update in my opinion. And we had heard from Ian O’ Conor that Joe Shane maybe not maybe he won’t be all that that safe and he is going to lead the head coach search but it will be in January where he gets reviewed by the Giants ownership. And we talked about this on an episode here on Giants now. that’s why you’re subscribed that we could see the Giants be in a similar situation that the Jacksonville Jaguars were last year where they interviewed Liam Cohen and Cohen essentially said, “No, I’m not really all that interested if you’re going to keep Trent Balky as the general manager and then they ended up firing Balky so they could get Liam Cohen to be their head coach and then they work together to bring in a GM.” And that could be a little bit tricky because of what Jordan writes here, which I agree with. Though that seems unlikely considering Shane is leading the head coach search and compiling the list of candidates. And I don’t think Joe Shane would put together candidates that he thinks would not want to work with him. But I bet Balky didn’t think that Liam Cohen would turn the job down after he accepted the interview because of him. So maybe they interview him. And in that interview, the head coach says to Joe Shane, and sounds like there’s going to be other people involved in this process as well, the Giants find out the GM is the problem with why that current head coach candidate wouldn’t take the job. I I’ll just say this. If you think there could even be a 1% chance that a top candidate would not want to work with Joe Shane, you should just move on. If you think that Joe Shane being the general manager of the New York Giants is going to limit the reach and limit the attractiveness of this job to other head coach candidates, why would you keep him here? You may think he’s doing a really good job, John Mara, but if talented head coach candidates don’t want to work with him or you even think they may not want to work with him, um I think that paints the picture of uh what Joe Shane has thought of around the NFL. Renan went on to write this. One source with intimate knowledge of the opening described the Giants job as highly coveted due to its young core and they are the New York Giants still a marquee franchise. It was a sentiment also shared by several other agents with candidates who are interested in the position. Adam Sheper said the exact same thing. He expects this to be a very attractive head coaching job. And we did a video on the channel yesterday where we kind of power ranked the jobs that are potentially going to be open across the NFL that are going to be looking for head coaches. And we had non-biased people here at Chat Sports who cover the Bears and the Cowboys. And they both believe that the Giants are the number one opening for any head ca head coach candidate at this point. And why is that? And look, I know that some people believe that this makes the case that Joe Shane should stay, look, a broken clock is right twice a day. And when you have the fifth pick, seventh pick, third pick, and sixth pick, you should be able to build a young core. I I mean, come on. But why are they attractive? Jackson Dart, you have a franchise left tackle. You have a talented pass rush that is underperforming, but still talented. You have young building blocks in Malik Neighbors and Cam Scataboo. and you’re likely going to have another top five pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Renan also gave some information on who is going to be involved in the head coaching search, saying those those who are expected to be involved in the search for the New York Giants are Shane, Chris, and John Mara, Steve Tish, and Tim McDonald. If that doesn’t give you confidence, they’re going to get this right. To totally totally kidding. Renan wrote this. The same group of multiple league sources who have spoken to the Giants believe they are looking for a head coach who can command the room. Someone who can oversee the operation and develop a sustainable culture. Previous head coaching experience whether at the collegiate or professional level is preferred. It might be necessary in part because of the difficulty of the New York market and the setup of the organization. Uh, I I just have so many problems with this. Not because they’re looking for something or they have a certain type. Jay Glazer said they’re not going to run a search that spans far and wide. And now you’re telling yourself, we need an experienced guy who’s not going to be the play caller on offense or defense and someone that is a CEO type. Like you are trying to thread the needle here. How about like you just go out and hire the best coach that you interview throughout the process? Why does it have to be so defined? I get it. You want the people you want. You got to type. You got to type, but man, there are just not a lot of guys out there that have been head coaches before, have had success, and are CEO types. Like, who is even the number one candidate that fits that description? Like my mind goes to Mike McCarthy, but he’s an offensive coordinator. And maybe the Giants force him to hire an offensive coordinator, but didn’t they already do that with Joe Judge and Jason Garrett? But the New York Giants, they don’t really ever learn uh from their losses. they don’t turn their losses into lessons considering this is now the third time in a row the Giants are firing a head coach and keeping the general manager and walking the same path they have that has led them to the doomed state of the organization that they are in right now. So yeah, like who is it going to be? Mike McCarthy and you’re going to force an OC on him? Like sure if if Harbaugh from the Ravens becomes available, go get him. If Mike Tomlin becomes available, go get him. But you don’t want to to go out and take a risk on another young guy. Like, come on. I I I just don’t get it. You got to get a start somewhere. And I feel like the Giants are scarred by their mistakes, but they don’t actually learn lessons from their mistakes. They commit the same ones over and over and over again. Coming up next, the Giants are destined to interview these three head coach candidates to be their next head coach. We’re going to break that down on today’s show. All right, let’s close out the show with the three head coach candidates that Jordan of ESPN Giants Insider listed that are he has heard through sources. This is not from him. These are per sources that are destined to be interviewed. Let’s start with the Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator, Lu Anarumo, which is so weird to me because Jordan said, and look, I’m not calling out Jordan. I’m that’s not the intent of this at all. Maybe he has different sources telling him different things, but he it was painted that the Giants are kind of looking for a guy that’s been a head coach before. Has Lou Anarumo been a head coach before? Did Did I miss that? Uh he was the Bengals defensive coordinator from 2019 to 2024 and he was actually interviewed in 2022 to be the Giants head coach, but they chose Brian Dable and he is he was the Giants defensive back coach in 2018. The Colts are having a really good year on defense. I don’t want to minimize what he’s able to do on the defensive side of the ball, but this is my thing. He was not a part of the Bengals this off season. He was a free agent. The Giants kept Joe Shane. Uh the Giants kept um who’s their defense co uh defensive coordinator? Shane Bowen. I’m blanking my It’s been a long day. Shane Bowen, you could have fired Shane Bowen and you could have hired Luan Rumo to be your defensive coordinator this year. If you loved Lu Anarumo that much, why didn’t you just fire Shane Bowen and get Lu Anarumo to be your defensive coordinator for this season? Doesn’t make much sense. He didn’t like him enough to be the head coach in 2022. He didn’t like him enough to fire Shane Bowen to bring him in to be your defensive coordinator this year. He’s never been a head coach before. Um I don’t know. He does have ties to Joe Shane. They both worked uh for the Miami Dolphins back in the day. Maybe that’s why. Um also the Giants uh hired his son as a scout. He and Shane have a relationship. Um but I just don’t know about that one. Another name that is reportedly destined to be interviewed according to ESPN is Antonio Pierce, former linebacker and Super Bowl champion for the New York Giants and former head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. He was nine and 17 in a season and a half there before being fired. And look, the Raiders players loved him. He was a head coach. He is a locker room guy. He is a players coach. Uh Raiders players pushed for him to be hired after being the interim. And I talked to Mitchell Rens who covers the Raiders here at Chat Sports and he said he’s a good coach, just not a head coach. And and I agree. Um I really have no interest in Antonio Pierce being the next head coach of the New York Giants. I actually am hoping that that does not happen. the last guy and one that I’m not sure how I feel about him being the next head coach. Our good buddy Spags, former uh Super Bowl defensive coordinator for the New York Giants, multi-time Super Bowl champ with the KC Chiefs. I think it’s fourtime Super Bowl champ. I keep on messing that up. One time with the Giants. He actually wasn’t the defensive coordinator the second time, but three times the Chiefs, one time with the Giants. Math is hard. stupid Marshall, but he was the Giants interim head coach in 2017 where he went one and three. He does have a head coaching experience before with the Rams from 2009 2009 l 2009 to 2011. He was 10 and 38. Um, this wouldn’t be the worst hire to me, but I just feel like man, you’re just trying to get on base. And I get it, you don’t always want to swing for the fences. You don’t want to go out for the big sexy name, but I don’t know. Lannar Rumo, Antonio Pierce, Steve Spags, like none neither of these guys really move the needle for me. So, I’ll just open up the comment section to y’all. Who would you pick of these three men to be the next head coach of your football team? Type their initials down in the comment section. I’m curious what all the real ones have to say. For me, I would be pretty upset if all if any of those three guys were the next head coach. If I had to power rank them, I’d probably go Spags, Lou, Pierce. Um, but even then, I don’t know. I’m not saying I’m right. I’m not saying they’re wrong. I’m just giving you my opinion, which I know you guys tune in to hear from. And for me, um, I don’t want any of them I don’t want any of them to be the next head coach for the Giants. It’s going to be a long search. We’ll find our answer one day. Until then, we’ll bring it down on this channel every single day. Make sure you are subscribed. 1. The so called experts saying that the HC is gonna pick the GM has to be the most ridiculous thing they’ve ever reported. That would make the HC the GMs boss where the GM is looking over his shoulder every day. Mara doesn’t do business like that. If these so called experts use their brains they’d understand why Kafka is going to be the HC next year. Schoen and Mara are playing these clowns like a fiddle lol.

  2. Joe gonna do anything to save his job he gonna pick a coach he have strong relation with so he can keep his job he’s a manipulator if Mara can’t see right through him we’re done once again

  3. Honestly, I don't hate the idea of giving Eagles DC Vic Fangio a shot at HC. He's a great DC, and he was fired by Miami parts because "he was too hard on the players." I think someone like that is exactly what we need right now. Someone that can instill some real discipline in one of the most penalized teams in the league right now. We would probably win more games by just getting out of our own way in that regard.

  4. Schoen is the reason the giants have the worst roster in the NFL. He is the core problem and results will continue to be similar untill he is removed. I stated this same thing last year and sadly I turned out to be right. If I can see this, why can’t Mara?

  5. While all three mentioned candidates know more about football than I do, none seem to fit the bill as a head coach. You do need an efficient no nonsense coach who will be very clinical and will make objective decisions. Definitely a ceo type like Tom Landry was
