Jaylen Brown opens up about criticism, the “no left hand” jokes, and the heartbreaking playoff loss to Miami in 2023 that ‘nearly broke him.’
“It killed me. I wanted to win more than anything… It humbled me. It made me more focused, and my mentality shifted crazy going into that next year.”

  1. To be fair his left hand did suck and he had some crucial turnovers going left at really bad times.

He did the work and got better, there’s a reason he was finals MVP.

  2. 27.5/5.5/4.1 on 59% true shooting currently. People clowned the contract he signed around then but he really has played up to it with the FMVP and this season as a #1 option

  3. Good speech 🔥

Also I wish the discourse around the league was better instead of the toxic singular player focused praises/attacks.

  4. He’s finals MVP and an NBA champion he doesn’t need to explain himself to anybody tbh

  5. No matter how you feel about his basketball acumen/skills you gotta admit he’s a high character guy.

  6. It’s cool to get a laid back in depth answer on specific losses from an active player. Guys typically only go that in depth after retirement (or very close to it).

  7. I partially tore a ligament in my thumb, it took 6 months to fully heal and even now 11 months now I can still feel it occasionally. Being the wrist must be 10x worse.

  8. But it’s been years and his left hand is still dogshit.

Ya I don’t feel bad at all, when I suck at something that feels humiliating, I just go get better at it and I don’t have billions at my disposal.

  9. It would have been embarrassing for a team that stacked to have not won, so I get it. Feels bad when you lose as America’s second favorite team.

  10. Game 7 of the heat series where Tatum got injured was one of the must embarrassing games I can remember as a C’s fan, but everyone has that game eventually, and he bounced back to become finals mvp

  11. What about the ecf they won in game 7 against Miami the year they went on to lose to the Warriors. As a Heat fan I was devastated because I knew we were the better team.

  12. I love this. I wish players talked more about specific losses. It reminds of the way warriors would share battle stories. Even a loss can be a good game and I like hearing about the journey.
