Bob Gibson, Roger Maris and Lou Brock celebrate winning the 1967 World Series.

  2. There is no chance in hell the batter did anything other than swing and miss by 3 feet, that is not the stance of a man who is actually in the AB. Looks like a relief pitcher lol

  3. A legend and true menace on the mound but…..

In the 1968 World Series, Bob Gibson dominated for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Detroit Tigers, winning two games with a 1.67 ERA and setting a new World Series record with 17 strikeouts in Game 1. Although he won Games 1 and 4, the Cardinals ultimately lost the series in seven games, with Gibson taking the loss in Game 7.

Yeah, I’m a Tigers fan. I still watch this fantastic series once a year.

  4. And somehow there are plenty of newbie “promising” players whose baseball cards are worth more than Bob’s. Dude does not get nearly enough love. He was as dominant as anyone ever !

  5. Two WS MVPs (64 and 67), and would have had a third if Curt Flood hadn’t misread a fly ball in game 7 of the 68 series. Amazing post-season pitcher.

  6. I always look at this picture and think it looks like he’s pitching on a beach with the green ocean behind him.
