POST-RAW | Kris Knoblauch 11.20.25

When you look at a game like that, Chris, um I know you lose and it happens in overtime, but you must be pretty proud of uh the effort and uh the near execution of winning it, whether it be in regulation or overtime. Yeah, there’s a lot of things to um be happy about. Um you know, we’ve been talking about uh how to play better defensively and uh better awareness and um just digging in on those areas. And I saw a lot of good defensive plays tonight and obviously Picks had a heck of a game especially in the third period. Um but you can see you have a you know fragile group in the third period. You know we just a shell of ourselves not wanting to make a mistake and holding on. And when hold on you um you just have to defend uh over and over again. and you know unfortunately um you know they score that tying goal and um you know it was u yeah too bad because it was a good effort for from a lot of guys. Kelvin did say after the game that he felt like he needed to have a good game individually with that being done by him. What did you see from your goalie that allowed him to nearly get you two points? Well, it started right off from the start. Um the first shift they had a you know a little swarm around the net. uh he came up with a big save and then shortly after that um Leon sets up the Frederick goal. Um you know overall in the first and second I thought we um limited the chances. I know there was a couple big ones from picks especially the one in the in the second period on the penalty kill made a sliding save and um then the third period a couple heroic ones. Uh but you know we relied on him too much in the third period. Unfortunately we couldn’t get him the win. Did you get an explanation on the off sorry the non-offsite goal the Nick Paul regulation mark? Uh no uh that is something for us to challenge and um the player Paul has to touch the puck. I believe it was Coochov on the other side. Um the puck was over but um Paul has to touch the puck before and um I believe Coutro did touch the blue line before that uh puck was touched. Every loss is disappointing but is there an extra layer of disappointment when Calvin Pickard has the game he has and you’re not able to convert that into a victory? Um absolutely. You know Pix is a very popular guy in the team. He works extremely hard and it’d be nice for him to get a reward for all that uh work that he does and obviously the team wants to get a win any night but uh would have been nice for him also. What would you like to see carry over from this defensive effort tonight into the future? uh just playing with that uh that intensity and that attention to detail because any team that wins consistently has to be a good defensive team and um yes you got to be able to score goals um but uh most important thing is just keeping the puck out of your net and feel that if we can play good solid defensive hockey that we’ll get our opportunities and we’ll score enough goals that we should win most nights.

  1. game was lost cuse McDavid cannot defend. he was on the attacking Tampa player who scored, but couldn't do anything. McDavid lost almost every single defensive duell tonight.

  2. Oilers management team or the manager Mr Bowman should get fired right a way. Didn't do anything to stop the breeding. Oilers is the much different teams when Ken Holland is in charge. Now Oilers is the worst teams I ever seen. Good luck to the Oilers if the lucky enough to make the playoff. 😢😢😢😢

  3. Some teams find ways to lose and some teams find ways to win. Oilers are the former. The Oilers are a self sabotaging team right now that enjoys inflicting pain on themselves and that starts and ends with the coach. The Oilers feel a sense of comfort and normalcy when they lose. It's a deep dark hole that's nearly impossible to get out of. This scary psychological trap that pro sports teams fall into is usually created by the coach and how they manage each personality on the team. This is not even about talent management anymore. Kris Knoblauch maybe an excellent on ice coach, but Knoblauch doesn't have the tools or skill to change the mindset of every player on the team to convince them that winning is good and losing is bad. It sounds silly when you phrase it like that. But you say that a hundred times a day you'd be surprised just how much things change in your life. Kris just doesn't understand the psychology of sports and the basic fundamental principle called "Refuse To Lose". Typically emotional coaches understand this psychology. It takes being paranoid and being truly afraid to lose that sets your mind in the proper direction. Kris Knoblauch has probably never struggled a day in his life which explains his calmness, composure and soft demeanor. The Oilers don't need this kind of coach right now. Plain and simple. Nothing against Kris. Sports teams are a constant flow and evolutionary product of emotion. The best coaches know how to adjust to these changing emotional rides and tides. Kris is one dimensional and has been conditioned to coach only one way. Calm teams down and not put the fear of a higher power inside their head. A metaphor that relates to the fear of missing the playoffs. He's simply not equipped to understand or handle what's going on with the Oilers right now. To that end a coaching change is needed to change the mindset of the Oilers.

  4. It’s time to start benching some of the defensive players and a few offensive players to make a statement!!! Time to call up some young bucks from the minors to give a jump to these donkeys

  5. Not that the team wasn't insync but WoW meshed Minds folks, meshed Minds.

All teams minus the Oil and Cats (and not to say that they are not a close-knit Family), have to be better w/ relentless pressure, to prevent Edmonton and Florida from reaching the SC Finals, let alone the playoffs…so this was/is to be expected.

    Awesome in full blossom, O!L

  6. Got a point, their game is starting to go in the right direction.

They gotta let go of the losses. It took the panthers to be over the cap 15+ million and officiating bias to get by them.
    This team is great.

  7. Coach is great no reason to panic. Diff looking team and chemistry takes time no matter what rolling 4 lines would be nice tho almost necessary. Excited to have nuge and kapanen back soon
