Miami Dolphins 2026 NFL Mock Draft During Bye Week
[Music] It is Dolphins mockdraft 4.0 here at Dolphins today by chat sports. I’m Nick Rolloff. Miami’s in a by-week. So even though Miami has won a couple games here, I thought it’d be a fun experiment to do my fourth mock draft since they aren’t picking in the top five anymore because they did get a couple wins and are now sitting at four and seven. Speaking of that draft pick, yeah, right now it’s currently the 11th overall selection. So all the fans that wanted the Dolphins to tank and get a top three pick so they could draft either Fernando Mendoza or Type Simpson. Well, I’m sorry to tell you this, but that is not possible anymore. Even if Miami loses out and finishes four and 13, I’m willing to guarantee they are not going to be picking number one, number two, or three because I don’t think the Saints, Browns, Jets, Titans are going to be able to get to four wins on the year. So, you’re going to likely be picking anywhere between seven and 15 this year. So, I want to do a mock draft in this range for the first time. And with the 11th overall pick, I am going to go to the edge group. That is David Bailey out of Texas Tech. This is a fascinating riser in the draft circles. Transfer from Stanford to Texas Tech. The Red Raiders made him the highest paid defensive player in all of college football in the transfer portal. And boy was that a smart decision by the decision makers over at Texas Tech. He is a little bit of an undersized defensive lineman. 6’3 250. He is a true senior. But boy, what he makes up or he lacks in size, I should say, is he makes up in speed because his first step is absolutely wicked. And he is able to transfer that first step quickness into a powerful rush when he wants to rush with power. He’s just dominating at the collegiate level right now. He leads all of college football in not only sacks with 12 and a half, but TFLs with 16. This guy is an athletic freak, man. And he is simply put, one of the highest graded edge rushers in all of football, when you talk about the best pass rushers in college football right now, it’s either David Bailey or the guy from Miami, Ruben Bane. Now, I have Ruben Bane as my number one edge rusher, but it’s not like Bailey is that far behind, and he is certainly worthy of a top half selection in the first round. A ridiculous 23.4% pass rush win rate. Absolutely dominating the Big 12 right now. Now, he does lack a little bit of an ability to stop the run. He’s at 6.8% run stop rate. That’s about the 50th percentile. So he’s right around average in that range, which isn’t ideal because if you’re an average run stopper in college football, you’re probably going to start off as a very below average run stopping edge in the NFL. Same issue that Chop Robinson has at times. But like Chop, he is an athletic pass rushing freak that could absolutely take games over at the next level with the set of skills he has. He is far from a finished product, but if you’re taking him at 11, you are looking to bank him and Chop Robinson as one of the best young edge duos in the NFL that can get after the quarterback. And Miami certainly needs to add some edge rushers in the draft this year considering Bradley Chub is not long for this roster. You traded Jaylen Phillips. You really don’t have any other younger guys on your team that are worthy of building around Chop Robinson. So, Edge is certainly a need and Bailey is an interesting pick at pick 11. If you want more NFL draft content through the year, let me know. Type me because I don’t know if you guys want NFL draft content anymore. I know you guys wanted it a couple weeks ago when Miami was 2-7, but now that they’re four- seven and surging, do you want normal NFL content or do you want draft content? Let me know. Get your thoughts in the comments. Second round going with Keith Abney II, the cornerback from Arizona State. This is a player that is a fringe first second round type of guy right now in the process. And after looking at some of his film and some of his advanced numbers, I am a fan to say the least. He’s got great size on him. 6 feet 190. He is a true junior for the Sunundevils. And boy, he just covers almost everything. He is a fluid athlete. He does excel in zone schemes. He’s certainly a better zone corner than man, but he’s also had a really good year in man. That’s something that he’s really worked on and something that he improved from his sophomore campaign to his junior campaign. But we know in Miami, Anthony Weaver likes to predominantly have his secondary play zone. I mean, that’s what most NFL teams play, but Miami does it usually at a higher level. in Abney this year is showcasing why he should absolutely be in consideration for one of the top three five corners in all of college football. A completion percentage when target of only 45.6 and that is almost exactly what the QB rating when he’s targeted is as well. Two interceptions. He’s a ball hawk. He’s really is good at keeping his technique, keeping his eyes in the back field when he’s in zone moving fluently and breaking on a football. that first step when he breaks down a football is really elite. Now, he does lack maybe some straight line speed. So, if he is on the outside against a burner and man coverage, he could get toasted a little bit. Like, he does lack that recovery speed at times, but with him being a ball hawk and a great uh zone corner matched with his ability to tackle in the run game, which he’s really improved on from year two to year three, Abney makes a very solid case to be a top corner in this NFL draft and maybe is the future CB1 for the Miami Dolphins. Heading to our first pick in the third round of three. I’m gonna take a tight end, Eli Sters, the Vanderbilt tight end. And you want to talk about a story, this kid’s got one. He originally was a four-star recruit, a dual threat quarterback. He commits to Texas A&M. He is the backup for two years, never starts. Transfers to New Mexico State where he loses the quarterback job to who, you might ask, Diego Pavia. Diego Pavia then transfers to Vanderbilt. What does Eli Styers do? He switches positions to tight end and follows the quarterback he lost the battle to at New Mexico State and becomes his number one target this season. where Vanderbilt is in line for a potential trip to the college football playoffs. This year, Sters has showcased his athleticism, his route running, and ability to make plays over the middle of the football field. He scored four touchdowns, including two against the Texas Longhorns, 669 yards. He is not that prototypical mismatch tight end. He’s a little undersized at 6’4 235 and can be treated at times like a bigger wide receiver rather than an NFL tight end. And he certainly isn’t the best run blocker either. But if you’re looking for a vertical threat in the middle of the field and in the slot, Eli Sters can absolutely be that guy. When with Miami needing a tight end, Sters can be an intriguing option. More draft content certainly coming between now and April when the Dolphins hopefully get a great draft class to propel their rebuild. Join the Dolphins today family and subscribe so you never miss a piece of our draft content. Our second third round pick, pick number 80 coming in from the Houston Texans. We’re going defense once again and that would be safety from Alabama, Keon Sab. This is a player that is very fluid, very athletic, 61, 204. And when you think about what Sab is able to bring to the table, you think about an absolute athlete who can range in that center field and make plays on the football. I mean, you look at his scouting report, when you watch the film, you talk to people in the draft circle and some people who watch Alabama football every day, they’re always talking about how athletic this man is. And he’s got that size that we just mentioned, which makes him an ideal candidate to be able to get his hand late on a pass down the field in forcing incompletion. Now, he does need to be coached up and he sometimes lacks the fundamentals to be that perfectly sound safety, but in the third round, you take the shot on the talent and the kid and maybe you find a safety that could be that starting opposite of Dante Trader Jr. for the foreseeable future. I think if Fitzpatrick’s future in Miami is certainly in question, maybe Keon Sab could be the replacement. Four more picks to get to here in a second, but this episode is brought to you by Prize Pix. No Dolphins football this week, but you can continue to get in on the action with prize picks and get $50 in lineups when you play your first $5. It’s so easy to play. Download the app and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. The last third round pick we have, this one is courtesy of the Philadelphia Eagles in that trade with Jaylen Phillips. I’m going to the offensive line in taking Austin Barber, the left tackle for the Florida Gator. This is a player that has started three years at left tackle. So, he’s got a ton of experience there. And you’re going to probably say, Nick, why are you taking a left tackle? We have Patrick Paul. And I will tell you, you are correct. But we also need to start planning for the future at right tackle because Austin Jackson can never stay on the football field and his final year of his contract is in 2026. So, my thinking here is to maybe go with the 66 Austin Barber who’s been an experienced starter and although all of it has been at left tackle, maybe move him to right tackle, start coaching him up there and if Jackson goes down with an injury again in 2026, or you just let him walk in free agency after 2026, Barber can fill in at that right tackle spot and he can be that bookend opposite of Patrick Paul. I think Barber is an intriguing option here and he has had really good numbers this year in zone schemes. So if he has to play next year and Mike McDaniel is your head coach, he is an ideal fit in this Dolphin scheme. Going back to the defensive line in the fourth round with Notre Dame edge rusher Bob Carr Triori. This is a very underrated edge prospect in my opinion. He has put up big-time numbers for the Fighting Irish. And like David Bailey, a little bit undersized, 6’4, 247, has a wicked first step, six and a half sacks and eight TFLs this year for Notre Dame. Um, but he is a much better run stopper than David Bailey is. And maybe you could say it’s due to teams you’re playing. Notre Dame schedule’s certainly been easier than Texas Tech because well Notre Dame’s not really playing a conference schedule. They technically play an ACC schedule and that conference is a joke. But you see it 7.8 run stop rate for Triori. So a little bit better than Bailey but certainly not as good as a pass rusher and that’s why Bailey is going in the first round and Triori is going in rounds three or round four. 14.6% pass rush win rate. But I mentioned it earlier with talking about David Bailey. you just need to add a ton of talent to this edge room because you really don’t have anything for the foreseeable future. So, I do expect Miami to address this by selecting multiple edge rushers in April and or signing multiple edge rushers in free agency in the first week of March. But in this scenario, I’m taking two in the draft with David Bailey in Triori. We’re going to go with a quarterback with our fifth round pick and it is a big na guy. I’m going Drew Aller, the big body quarterback from Penn State. Someone we’ve highlighted in the past. He was a five-star, the number one overall recruit in his high school class. It was a big- time get for Penn State, and he just simply never lived up to the bill. He helped the Nitling Lions get to deep in the college football playoffs a year ago, and then with him returning, he could have been a firstround pick last year in the draft. and many scouts that said he would have been a firstround selection. Ultimately decides to return to Penn State. It’s a disaster for the Nitney Lions. James Franklin’s fired mid-season. Aller has season ending injury and now his stock is in the gutter and he’s likely a day three pick. He’s going to get picked but it’s likely going to be on day three. And I don’t think he is worth a second or third round selection either. There’s a lot to like. He’s 65 66. Absolutely rocket arm. You could probably make the argument he has the best arm in terms of just strength in a vacuum in the entire draft class at the quarterback position, but the issue that he has is he’s not an elite processor. He isn’t accurate and he’s got a lot of mechanical issues that need to be cleaned up as well. The raw talent is there and if Miami wants to take a quarterback and take a swing, I don’t mind Drew Aller in the fifth, I would certainly not take him in the second or third round. I would maybe contemplate it in the fourth round, but if he was available in the fifth round, I would probably be sprinting to the podium to take the shot on the talent that Aller ultimately has. And it would be an intriguing QB room a year from now. I’ll tell you what, Tua Quinn’s Drew Aller in 2026, that’d be cinema in the preseason. Sign me up for that. What say you? Would you draft Drew Aller on day three of the draft or just ultimately in general? Type D for draft or P for pass. We’ll round out our mockdraft 4.0 by going with Kyle Lewis, the linebacker from Pit with the 224th pick. And boy oh boy, I’m not going to spend too much time on him, but he is an absolute elite coverage linebacker. He has started 35 games in his career. He’s pulled up nine sacks and 23.5 TFLs, but he has had six interceptions in double digit pass breakups. that is what he is good at. Now, he can make a play in the run game, but his athleticism sideline the sideline is certainly what he is known for at the collegiate level. And I do believe that you if you could get him in the seventh round, which who knows where he ultimately goes or if he’s a UDFA, it’s too early to tell, but I just want to throw a name out there to keep an eye on because I think Tyrell Dodson could be cut this off season. You have Jordan Brooks under contract one more year. Um, but Willie Gay and KJ Britt are on one-year deal. So, you really only have one linebacker that is a guarantee to be on the roster a year from now because Dodson could be cut. Now, he’s under contract, but who knows? So, adding a linebacker late in the draft is certainly something I could see Miami doing when it’s this time in April. All right, that’s will do it for my mock draft. And I know it’s early and this is only the fourth mock draft we’ve done. We did one early where we took Ty Simpson. Our second one we took Fernando Mendoza. There was another one where after the trade deadline where we took uh who did we take I think we we took Spencer Fanu actually is what we did the offensive tackle from Utah. Be honest with Miami picking 11 instead of the top 10. This is my favorite one I’ve done yet. I mean you get David Bailey a stud edge. You get a potential CB1 in ABNE. You get a couple day one starters potentially at tight end and safety with Sters and Sab. You get a good developmental offensive lineman in Austin Barber. Another edge in Triori, a home run dart throw on Drew Aller, and then a coverage linebacker in Kyle Lewis. I mean, it’s very unlikely that a draft in April ultimately pans out this way, but if it did, hell, you know what? Sign me up for that. You can let me know how you thought by mock draft ultimately went. I’m a big fan of it. But if you want more draft content for the Dolphins, this is the channel for you to subscribe today. [Music]

Do you want more NFL Draft content? Type ‘ME’
D
No rolly, do not try playing players in other positions!!! Letting Paul walk???? Yo crazy!!!!
ME
If I was willie gay, I'd want to leave!!! Not enough playing time!!!
Draft picks
Your at 4.0 and the season isn't over. Lol
Normal play
I wanted Adler but the injury kinda gave me cause to pause due to how we got Tua.
No way on drew
Never mind on drew at a 5th round can be a steal
Draft
We gotta be happy where we are at why be mad because we are winning we have to see what players are going to be around next year and who’s not
I’m taking fano if available
We already have a D-end who gets folded in the run game constantly (Chop)… we don't need 2
An unfinished product at #11, like do you hear yourself 😊
Why keep drafting qb n don't even give them a chance
Funny you think Ross will allow all these defensive players.
Even though I agree the D needs fixed.
Nic…I gotta say, this is probably one of your best Phins' segments I've watched. Yes, some of your past rants I've found hilarious🤣 however, this is one of your better info segments for Phin Fans to pay attention to since having 5 picks in the top 100 this franchise must capitalize in the next two NFL Drafts big time! If I may challenge you to consider doing the following going forward since the Phins must do a hard re-set…no matter the Dolphins' news going forward provide a solid NCAA player going forward the Phins should perhaps target and provide the reasons why as you're doing in this segment. This helps educate our current fan base while having the average fan going forward to watch current player progression on the team and watching for younger players coming into the league. BTW…the Phins should choose a QB every draft until we find our trigger man going forward…Phins Up!
Please pal, bring Miami Dolphins 1997 logo and stuff back for a
Modern Throwback.
