Dame on comeback

  1. Boy we could sure use some Dame Time right about now. I bet it’s killing him to just sit there and watch.

  2. I think offball Dame will be lit. He won’t need to bring the ball down court, carry the offense, and there’s multiple paint threats to feed.

Kinda wish we kept Ced instead of swinging on Yang. I love Yang but the team would have been in a much better position upon Dame’s return.

  3. I am remaining cautiously optimistic on dame. Not an easy injury to come back from especially at his age. But I will be hoping for some dame time moments next year with a more experienced young squad. Could be decent if dame is even 80% of old dame. But honestly I don’t expect him to come in and magically be prime dame and being everything the team needs

Dame and jrue is a nasty guard combo, if it was 5 years ago would be the best in the league by a long shot (and I love CJ lol).

  4. It’s kind of crazy that Dame gets a full year to build rapport with these young guys before he even hits the floor. Things should gel and be rocking immediately upon his return.

  5. Man I really, really hope Dame can be ~80% of his former self. I’m doubtful, but it’d be amazing

  6. I started following the NBA, and the Blazers the same time Damian Lillard got the keys to the team. He is so fundamental to my fandom, and I have so many memories of him being… breathtaking.

I understood why he left, I couldn’t hate him for it, and I still followed him; But my heart remained here, in RipCity. I watched this team grow into something special as well. There was a couple very painful years but my delusions saw the potential. I couldn’t help but think after acquiring Deni Avdija last year, imagine if we had Damian Lillard on this team. I can’t describe the happiness I felt as a fan when it broke he was coming back.

I’m not crazy, I know he’s not going to be the same player as he was for us all those years. He doesn’t have to be though, he has more support now than he has ever had. As a fan the waves of nostalgia and happiness are going to make his last years with us the most memorable, in my opinion. So as Dame navigates his new role on the team, I’ll be excitedly watching.

  7. We should tank for one more year so we have a high draft pick to use (or trade for another star) when dame returns

  8. Gotta think we win at least 1 of the last couple close games with Dame on the court to help close out. Maybe he can advise some of the guys on handling those situations

  9. I love dame. I have full confidence in him coming back strong to finish his career with at least one title shot.

  10. Yep. He fully expects to be Dame again (who fits horribly on this team) and will not defer to the new leaders of this team Deni and Shae. Cant wait for Dame to ruin this team! Thanks Joe!

  11. Neil oshey really wasted Dame prime thinking he could create a winning team with Mario herzonja and Cody Zeller

  12. People think he’s going to come back as a corpse of his old self. The healing tech is so good these days I’m telling you guys he’s going to still be really good, all-star level, but he will probably rest back to backs and will target ~65 games and 30 minutes per game.

He’s going to push Scoot to the bench unless Scoot absolutely lights it up this season.

  13. You know one of the areas that we need help in is 3 point shooting and leadership. Him playing off ball allowing Shae and Deni to do a lot of heavy lifting while he can help lead them and close games out.

  14. I know I am biased af…but Dame deserves this. Every single Blazer player deserves this. And every single fan deserves this.

  15. A primary ball handler that’s also our best shooter?

Yeah, that might have helped these last few games.

Beautifully said. Dame has a way with words. Love him
