Reasonable take and context. Teams had up and downs but honestly been a good start to the season

  1. They have to do these things because Morey sunk $100 million into 2 injury prone “stars” who have played a combined 8 games this season. Maxey basically has to do his best AI imitation just to keep the team afloat.

  2. I don’t want them to “outperform” or “exceed expectations” or do better than “expected”.

I want them to perform. They have allegedly 3 all star players. If not. Then get rid of the ones who don’t fit that criteria. Bring on players who: play every game. Play hard all 4 quarters. And play and win in the playoffs. And let’s roll. I want rings.

  3. It’s sort of insane to me that anyone has a different take lol, I came into the season expecting something pretty depressing. This has been anything but. Are we a contender? No, obviously not. Could we get there? Probably not, it’d take a lot of unlikely things happening. But the team is built to be competitive now and have a fun transition into the future. I was worried things would get bleak for a year or two

  4. Good points, but the 3rd quarter criticism i think is well warranted. We’ve lost games with big leads all because of how poorly the 3rd quarter went.

  5. I guess what he’s saying is exactly what concerns me. I’m worried that we’re going to regress at some point. Or, you know, we’re one Maxey hamstring tweak away from ABSOLUTE PAIN. I’ll just enjoy it while I can.

  6. If you were expecting anything more than “not quite good enough for the play-in” you were overestimating. The guys are doing well for what they are.

  7. This ignores the massive problem that Embiid and PG, but to the larger extent Embiid, hinder this team from getting to where they likely could if they were reliable in any way.

  8. This team would likely be 1-14 without Maxey. He’s been absolutely phenomenal. Top 3 player in the East this year next to Giannis and Cade.

  9. Weren’t we like 4-20 to start last season? I’m happy with how the team’s been performing this season and enjoy watching this team play.

I think we’re achieving what we’re supposed to considering the injuries and amount of new guys we have on the team.

That said, I think we have more than enough talent to not be the worst team in the NBA in terms of generating open shots and taking the most contested shots.

That comes down to coaching, and I still have a lot of qualms with how Nurse is running the offense and handling rotations, especially in late game situations. Maxey can’t will us to victory with iso plays every time. It’s not gonna happen and I feel like Nurse is way too stubborn to change his ways.

  10. VJ’s 34 point opener really reset a lot of peoples expectations right out the gate.

We’re definitely over-performing and in a large part due to Maxey & Grimes.

  11. This is objectively the right take when you take a step back and look at things from a wider pov. But from a game to game perspective, and in game threads a play by play perspective, things can get unreasonably frustrating, especially in tight games. So I also don’t blame people for overreacting a bit

  12. Do we trade the guys on 1-year contracts for future picks at the deadline?

It’s hard to see a road where pg13 and embiid are healthy enough to be playing every other night in the playoffs?

  13. Honestly I’m sick and tired of this.. how good they are considering.. or lower your expectations.. or they’re outperforming my expectations. Seriously. The last time we won a championship was in 1983 and the last time we were in the ECF was 2001. There’s always some story. And even the fans are making excuses and satisfied with their progress. I, as I’m sure many of you are, am an Eagles fan and Eagles fans would not put up with this. Why do we as Sixers fans? I’m tired of the mediocrity and the process and the rebuilds and the progress. I want a championship caliber team again! Stop being complacent and satisfied, and stop making excuses for this organization.
