He really sticked it to him…

The Ducks really stickked it to the Wild, or should I say high sticked with how many high sticking penalties they took in this one. Six of the Wild’s seven power plays came from high sticks. The sticks had a mind of their own in this one. Apparently, yeah, I get I get the butterflies when I come here having a lot of family here. It’s awesome. But honestly, thank goodness because the first period, the Ducks best chances came well on the PK. McTavish took three pelonies last game and then followed it up with six more pelony minutes in this one. one minor for high sticking and then apparently he didn’t learn his lesson. Took another and this one drew blood. You could tell Q was pissed. Mason got bumped down to the fourth line while Stro took his spot. Backto-back games where he’s either been benched or demoted. Rough stretch for Mason, but honestly, rough stretch for the whole team. Morazzic was very good in this one and made some huge saves to keep it 000 heading into the second. That lasted all of one minute as the Wild scored right away. Trouba can’t get a stick on the pass. Stum gets beat. Just a great pass and finish. Then the Ducks took a two-man men penalty. And Q looked like he wanted to murder the ref because yeah, that was close. The PK wasn’t as threatening offensively this time as the Wild hit a post and Morazzic kept making big saves. The kill actually seemed to wake up the Ducks a bit though. They got some great chances, started pushing more, and Ross even fell on top of the goalie after a little shove. But the Wild were laughing at us. Q even got so desperate for offense in the third that he threw Vrono, Strowman, and Terry back together for a bit. He really put the lines in a blender for the whole period. So, I think that was a a big factor in tonight’s game that there was no continuity in the lineup. I was thinking, man, the Ducks could really use another penalty kill to get the offense going. And what do you know? Nestero took another double minor for high sticking too. Ducks kill it off. Not many chances either way. Then the Ducks finally got backto back power plays. Can we trade those for penalty kills instead? Kidding, but not really. They got a few decent looks, but their best chances all night were still short-handed. And of course, the Ducks took one more penalty. Unfortunately, it was Carlson this time, which meant goodbyes any last second offense. Ross almost took the fall for it. Shame we couldn’t get that lucky. McTavish rang one off the post late, which would have been hilarious if it was Mason who finally broke through. Instead, the Wild buried the empty netter and the Ducks lost two-0. First time the Ducks have been shut out all season. Three straight losses and each one has gotten more frustrating. Morazzic was the only reason this game didn’t get out of hand. This was his best game of the season and of course he loses it. Funny how that works. His non-Ducks roller coaster mask is doing wonders. Really clears his mind of bad thoughts. I’m thinking somehow he still got stuck with the postgame interview because it was basically just him and the PK who showed up. Uh, you know, it’s a learning process. Every game’s different. Uh, every day is different. Every game is different. You know, every practice you learn something. We’re going to learn from it and move on. Seven for seven on the kill is impressive, but I was shocked to see our PK is still ranked 24th in the league. Maybe it’s not that great after all. Better than last year, though, and at least it’s fun to watch. It kind of seems like the ABS cracked the code on the Ducks and now other teams are following suit. Teams are figuring out the duck speed is their bread and butter. So, other teams have been doing everything to block rush lanes and pressure us before we can build up speed through the neutral zone. That leads to turnovers, or I guess really back to our turnover prone ways because puck control was an issue last year. And we’re still not a team that can hold on to the puck consistently. That speed is what led to the Ducks getting so many power play opportunities early on and it’s been a struggle to get them now. Q will have to make adjustments because otherwise it looks like we are a one-dimensional team. Even with these losses though, the Ducks were still technically first in the Pacific. Well, until the Kings moved one point ahead, but with one more game played. Let’s take it back tomorrow verse Utah as the Ducks kick off a six-game home stand. Hoping for some home cooking. Hopefully, we get some bodies back soon because the constant lineup chaos isn’t helping. Granland looks like he reinjured himself after one game back and Paling is still out. The coach Gordon Bombay jacket to the player in the room who shines among his teammate that I was actually thinking of wearing it for this hit until I found out that they have not been washing it yet. Don’t you have any hand sanitizer? That would be a lot of hand sanitizer.

The Anaheim Ducks fell 2–0 to the Minnesota Wild in a frustrating night loaded with high-sticking penalties, but Petr Mrázek was outstanding and kept the game close. Mason McTavish racked up more penalties and ended up demoted again, while the Ducks’ best scoring chances somehow came shorthanded on the penalty kill. Head coach Joel Quenneville kept shuffling lines — even reuniting Frank Vatrano, Ryan Strome, and Troy Terry — but the offense couldn’t break through. Anaheim went 7-for-7 on the PK, yet the turnover issues and lack of rush chances continue to be a problem as teams adjust to the Ducks’ speed-first style. With three straight losses, the Ducks look to bounce back at home against Utah as injuries to Mikael Granlund and Ryan Poehling continue to shake up the lineup. #nhl #anaheimducks #minnesotawild #hockey

  1. This season's over. Verbeek is now clearly now on the hot seat. Resigning McTavish has proven to be a major mistake, there is no defense, overreliance on top 6 forwards, Dostal not meeting expectations as a goalie, Ownership having zero involvement with this team. Verbeek needs to go and the Samuelis need to sell this team to someone who is more serious with hockey operations. Best thing Ducks can do now is sell all their season tickets on Stub Hub and then refuse to go to anymore games this season and future seasons onwards. This team is a freaking joke.

  2. Well, we all saw this coming after realizing the start was too good to be true. This is more in line with what we expected. But, with that said, there is no excuse in the amount of penalties, the invisibility of McT and the decline of Terry when not paired with Carlsson. Also, why you would shuffle the first and second line after a loss but great game vs the Avs and a loss vd the RedWings, is beyond me. It messed up everything and basically ruinied the whole first period. I don't want to se any of the young guys playing with speed on any line that includes Killorn… Just dont.

  3. So what was that line shuffling in the first all about? I mean you had the hottest 2 lines in the league, and after one bad game, you switch them up? The bottom two lines are still a hot mess. And McT taking what 6 minutes in penalties in the first 30 seconds? I mean, what, out of 7 penalties, 5 were just lazy sticks high instead of making body contact. Seems like certain players have begun to coast. And the sad thing is, right now, I'd rather have Harkins in the game than Killorn, Strome, Vatrano, Nesterenko, and possibly even McPenalty. He doesn't have the skills, but he gives 100% every shift. Ross, taking out the goalie, and no one on the Wild wanted anything to do with him, and instead went after someone 15 feet away from the play.

  4. This was really frustrating to watch (again). The penalties are unacceptable and there needs to be a serious statement made about it. McT for me is in hot water. Perhaps drastic, but either he needs to sit out / stay on a lower line. Can he go to the AHL Gulls? I don’t know the rules to that, but if he is going to keep taking these penalties a message needs to be sent and he can sort out his stuff with the Gulls and we can bring back Colangelo. I know that must be drastic, but the message isn’t getting across so I don’t know how you get it through to him.

I feel like the Red Wings were the ones who, “cracked the code” on the ducks with their physical play. We aren’t physical, and when you disrupt our rhythm we suffer. Boston is going to wreck us in a few days, especially after we squeezed a win by then earlier.

I don’t know what happens moving forward. I want to be hopeful but based on how these last three games have gone I’m wondering if this, “coming back to earth” is going to look more like a full on “crash and burn”. I want/hope I am wrong. Go Ducks

  5. They're playing like a young team, it'll be streaky, but at least there are ups to go with downs, and they'll make the playoffs. Consistency should improve over time.

  6. The Ducks are in a horrible position now. They are neck and neck with every other team in the Pacific. What do I mean?- If they lose one more game, they could easily become fifth in the Pacific division.

    Pacific Standings:
    LA – 24
    ANA – 23
    SEA – 23
    EDM – 22
    VGK – 21
    SJ – 19
    VAN – 18
    CGY – 13

If San Jose keeps their streak up, they will pass the ducks in the standings, leaving the ducks in the sixth position in the Pacific.

As of right now, there's a very real possibility that the ducks will not make the playoffs.

  7. As a wild fan who watches your videos the Wild have the fortune of solid goal tending. The ducks faced Jesper "The wall of St. Paul" Wallstedt who now thanks to this game has two consecutive shutout performances. Ducks had chances and some decently good ones but Wallstedt is the Wild's Star Goalie prospect for a reason.

  8. I felt like our guys kept fanning on the puck and losing edges when trying to stride which hurt us in simply possessing and moving the puck. Did anyone else notice that?

  9. Commented on the last video on Mason’s lack of discipline….this season has kinda shown me why Beeker hesitated to pull the trigger on his contract. Gotta give credit where credit is due because I wanted him to pay the guy.

You don’t get to 2nd in all time wins being a one dimensional coach. Wasn’t hoping to see this, but this tough stretch makes me excited because it’ll show us what this team is really made of.

Awesome work with the videos. I look forward to every single one of them!

  10. Teams are taking the ducks seriously now, there’s more pressure on the puck and passes and no one is left unmarked in the slot or in front of the net.

They are getting teams best shot and will need to adjust.

Obv with the margin being smaller the dumb penalties and mistakes need to be cleaned up

  11. Teams attitude looked different. Less confident and less swagger on the ice. Too many penalties, but the PK was good and lucky. Need to get back to simple – skate fast, shoot the puck, crash the net to set up a screen or knock in a rebound. 4th line needs to increase the forecheck, create chaos and turn over. Let’s get back to scoring, no penalties and persistent pressure on the puck. Just got some new Ducks gear – going orange hoodie for the game tonight. Go Ducks!

  12. And people want to say Z can't play defense? Mac T has gotten worse in that department, and if it doesn't get addressed immediately its going to be a massive problem down the stretch. I think Q is taking steps in the right direction so far by butchering his play time and putting him in the bottom pairings. Hoping its back to business tonight at Honda! LETS GO!
