The 49ers Just Got A STRONG Proclamation | San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers just got a strong proclamation, an insightful take, and a wild interpretation of recent events. All of which we’re going to talk about on this channel because that’s what we do. And if that’s what you’re looking for, please consider hitting that subscribe button. Got a question for you guys that does really play into the bigger narrative we’re going to be discussing today. And that question is pretty simple. How you feeling about the 49ers offensive line right now over the last couple of weeks? like if we allow a little bit of recency bias in, do you feel better about this offensive line or do you feel about the same or do you feel worse? Just let me know where you’re at on that one. I know that no fan base is truly optimistic about their offensive line over a long stretch of time, but you can get these little chunks. We were like, there’s some good stuff here. You know, the run game’s moving a little bit here and there. And, you know, pass protection against the Rams was really, really good. you know, I don’t know. Let me know what you guys think. All right. And as always, I appreciate your takes on there. Uh I saw some interesting ones um on the last video around the offensive line. I think it’s an interesting topic we got to talk about and it does really lead into the situation that’s playing out with Brock Pury as well as a couple other situations regarding Mikeel Williams, well, his absence plus uh Brennan Iayuk. We’ll be talking about all of that on today’s episode. Make sure you stick around for all that good stuff. But let’s start off with John Lynch. John Lynch has his comments as he always does on K&BR. Reveals things sometimes. I think this is one of those times we get a strong proclamation out of the mouth of John Lynch over the airwaves. Here’s what John Lynch said about Brock Pery’s return to uh the 49ers against the Cardinals. He just handles himself so well and he kind of puts confidence into our team. He looked healthy. He didn’t use his legs as much, but that was kind of what the game called for. There’s always going to be an acclamation period. It was a great game to get his confidence and rhythm back. I thought most interesting aspect of all of those comments, like you could talk about the fact that he didn’t run the ball more uh or not run the ball, but you know, scramble more uh and and the fact that John Lynch is even paying attention to that. Like that’s something that’s sticking out to him uh when he watches the film. But I think what’s most interesting to me is the phrase he uses that is you know, pretty direct about the fact that Brock Pury puts confidence in the team around him. We heard George KD after the game talk about how he is elite in uh you know in in play calling or in uh in uh delivering the play and the instructions in the huddle and all that kind of stuff that he’s elite in that way. Okay. So, you’ve got something elite here. You’ve got a guy who’s joyful to play the the game of football is kind of one of the words uh George KD puts out there. And now you’re hearing John Lynch say, “This guy puts confidence into the team that when he’s in the huddle, it adds something.” I’ll be honest with you guys, I’ve always believed highly in in Brock Party’s leadership. We’ve heard it get better and better and better over time. All right? So, I believe that. Like, I’m not I don’t have to be convinced of that. But when I think about a quarterback that gives the rest of the team confidence, I don’t think about Brock Pury. I should obviously John Lynch told me so today. I tend to think of the guys like the Josh Allens who lost last night. That’s an interesting side comment we won’t go on today. But I think about the guys who are those players that are, you know, heroic like a couple weeks ago, uh, when Josh Allen goes and and has multiple touchdowns through the air, multiple touchdowns on the ground, you know, just like a guy that could just will a team to a win sometimes. Although, I will say it was the offensive line call at the very end of the game or the offensive penalty on the offensive line that ruined the game. I thought that fourth and 27 play by it was unbelievable. Unbelievable. Like I thought, oh, oh my goodness, they’re gonna win. The Bills are gonna win. This is their year. This is the one. And then, you know, Bills fans probably feel like what they’ve always felt. Uh when it all comes down to to in the big moments. The point is Brock Pury and the confidence he brings this team is something I’ve underestimated. Maybe you have too. I don’t know. Let me know what you think in the comments. Something about Brock Perie as we’re talking. I asked you about the offensive line. I kind of got this inspiration from somebody in the comments yesterday. I’m sorry. I should have wrote like written down your name so I could say that. But uh you know I got this it just lined up really well with this stat that covers 2022 to 2024. Okay, all of 2024 season, right? And it’s quarterback efficiency when the pocket is kept clean. And Brock Pury is head and shoulders above everybody else in his efficiency when the pocket is clean. The only guy close to him is Josh Allen, whose pocket was not clean last night. And that’s probably definitely a huge reason why they were even in a fourth and 27 situation at the end of the game there in the first place. But the point that I’m getting at, right, Brock Pury, do you need to do something else with this offensive line? Do you need to like do you see this stat if you’re for the working for the 49ers organization? You’re like, “Guys, come on now.” Like we got we got to keep working here to bring in some young talent on this offensive line. We got a couple guys who are aging. Uh, you know, we got to we got to take care of business here. All right, let me know what you guys think about that one. I thought it was a fascinating statistic how far and away Brock Pury does in a clean pocket. That’s something worth special or something that is special and worth noting. John Lynch also talked about something else that I thought really interesting. Not about Mike Williams, but I think you’ll see my point in just a second. So, John Lynch was asked about uh the sack total this season uh and how low the sack total was against the Arizona Cardinals. He said this, “I was a little bothered. You throw it 57 times and we’re not able to bring the quarterback down, but sacks are a byproduct of being around the quarterback. I thought we did pressure Jacobe Brassette. I thought our guys rushed well. We just need to tighten up our details and sacks will start to come.” Okay, on the surface, all sounds good. The reason I bring Mike Williams into the mix, and this is this is exactly why, okay? Um, this stat is something that’s been flying around week after week after week. Okay, Mike Williams now has not been on the field for a long time, right? But he stands at the bottom right hand section of this chart, okay? Not the corner of the chart, but he’s he’s the bottom right hand area, okay? And he’s he’s not quite furthest to the right down there, but he’s close. And this is the amount of double teams that that players have experienced. Mikel Williams being one of the most doubleteamed players this season and he’s still there despite the fact that you know other players are stepping in and uh there there are more games that are being played. He still holds a very very high percentage of double teams and he will hold it there for the rest of the season because that’s what happened to him. And I only say that to just say like no, Michael Williams was not by any stretch of the imagination a sack machine, okay? But he did draw pressure and simply just not having the presence of Nick Bosa or Mike Williams. You can even add in Fred Warner in a way there, you know, in terms of like front seven or whatever. Like not having these pillars there. Okay, Michael Williams is not a pillar. You get what I’m saying? not having these big these guys who are drawing pressure is most definitely going to impact everybody else’s chances going into a game um being able to get after the quarterback. You need that pressure to go to one guy or two guys, you know, here or there in order to make space for other players. So, I do really feel like, you know, I’m like, how much can we really expect out of this defensive line? As good as Bryce Huff is, how much can we really expect out of these guys considering what they’re up against? Because teams are not having to they’re not having the headaches of Fred Warner and Nick Bosa and clearly Mike Williams was also a headache for so many teams. They’re not dealing with that. So, let me know what you think on that. But I just feel like that’s really, really interesting insight. You pair those two things together. One other thing I wanted to get to here, and I’ll make it quick because I know people don’t people don’t seem to love talking about Brandon Iayuk. I think it’s ever since the hold out, people are just like not interested and I respect you for that. Like that’s that’s your own thing and you are more than welcome to. But Matt Barrow says something pretty wild in my opinion. I think this is a wild interpretation of recent events. But before he kind of gets into the interpretation of events, Coach Yak quotes this from from Matt Baros and Tim Kawakami on their podcast and stuff. And here’s something Matt Baros suggested. trade idea involving Brandon Iayuk and M. Jones. Listen to this and tell me what your thoughts are. Okay, maybe you put together a deal where you send M. Jones and Brandon Iayuk to Cleveland, but really the deal is having them take Brandon Iayuk off your hands. Maybe you only get a third round pick back for both of them. But with the Cleveland Browns taking on Brandon’s contract, dude, I’ll just tell you, like I’m just gonna tell you flat out my opinion on this, and please, as always, feel free to disagree, but I think that’s that’s just dumb. That’s just dumb, dude. If the 49ers give up M. Jones in a league that is so desperate for quarterbacks who can run offenses, can win games. How in the world would you walk away having paid Brennan Auke all this money? Yes, the rest of the contract goes to somebody else. I I get how a trade works. All right, but for only a third round pick for both of those guys, not worth it. Not worth it. Just saying. I would much rather have the 49ers have some financial headaches or or trade these guys to separate teams or or something else or don’t trade M. Jones for a third round pick with IUK. Like that seems crazy to me. You know, everyone’s allowed to have their opinions and and he apparently thinks this is a good idea. The reason that he’s saying that, however, does come down to his interpretation of recent events, which is interesting. Now, Matt Baros, as you guys probably know, if you watch the channel a lot, I’ve talked about it a couple times. Matt Baros kind of believes that Brendan Iayuk will probably not step on the field for the rest of the season, or at least believes that’s a very high possibility. Okay, here’s what Baros said on Brandon Iayuk. Now, for a while there, we were seeing Brandon Iayuk and Brandon Aayuk wanted to be seen. This was in training camp and was at the start of the season where he would run shadow routes while the wide receivers were going through their individual drills. The last month and a half, I haven’t seen him. had not seen him at practice, had not seen him in the locker room. I understand that he’s doing his rehab work in the morning now and then just kind of scadaddles. So, I don’t know. Nobody knows. The agent isn’t saying anything. Iayuk isn’t around saying anything. To me, it’s a bit odd that he’s just you just don’t see hide nor hair of him at all after seeing him a lot early. And not just seeing him a lot early, but him going out of his way to make himself seen. I don’t know if there’s a frustration. I don’t know what’s happening there. Whether he thought he should be he should have been activated by now and now he’s pouting about it. I don’t know what’s happening. It’s a bit odd. We should underscore all of this by reminding everybody that he had a threele ligament injury. It’s not your run-of-the-mill ACL. A year of rehab comes with a territory. That’s not shocking, but we’re now beyond the year. Several comments to make on this. Okay. Firstly, like is it at all entirely possible that Brandon Iayuk is is uh feeling a little bit emotional about this situation and wants to be on the field and is frustrated that he hasn’t been? Of course, it’s possible. There’s no doubt in our mind, in anyone’s minds, yours or mine, that that’s possible. We’ve seen Brandon Aayuk act that way. We’ve seen him show up in the wrong color clothes and have a little hissy fit on the practice field. like yes, of course it’s possible that that’s what Brennan Iayuk is doing. However, is it also entirely possible that there’s something else going on about Brennan Iayuk’s training schedule, about what Brennan Iayuk is doing behind the scenes, about the the the metrics that he’s failing to meet and he’s frustrated and having a hard time about it. It doesn’t necessarily mean like the team is isolating him and keeping him away from them. It it also could just be that Brennan Iayuk right now in this moment is not able to hit the metrics that they’re looking for, the GPS data and all that stuff like he’s not able to hit the speeds they want to see and he’s just struggling through it a little bit or it’s possible the 49ers have something else completely going on that they’re just doing something entirely different in terms of his schedule and that’s why you’re not seeing him. You’re only out there for a short period of time every day. And I know you’re out there a heck of a lot more than I am, but you’re only out there for a short period of time and and you’re just not seeing the full picture. So, is it entirely possible that something else is going on? Yeah, I’d say that, too. Now, I’m in no way suggesting that I am smarter than Matt Barrows. I’m no way suggesting that I know more about the 49ers than Matt Barrows. I sure don’t. But it does seem to me that there’s also several other possibilities. If you’re going to speculate, you got to spec speculate about all of it. And I feel like it’s fair for me to speculate and say maybe or maybe not. I think it’s a wild interpretation of recent events. Um whether it’s true or not. Either way, it’s wild. It’s wild if it’s true. It’s wild if it’s false. I think this is an insane situation that’s playing out. I think Brennan Iayuk um you know is is uh we’re hearing a lot of positive things from the coaches and from general manager and stuff like that, but also we’re not seeing him. So I respect the position Matt Barrels takes. Let me know what you think about it. Of course, as well, I would not trade Brandon Iayuk and M. Jones for a third round pick. I wouldn’t do it. Now, if you say there is a trade out there that includes M. Jones and and uh and Brennan Iayuk, I’m fine with it. I like I’m not I’m not brokenhearted if these guys leave, but you better get some decent capital out of it. Like, you better get something beneficial more than just saving your books. Saving your books is good, too. And we do have to do that. Like, that’s something that they’ll think about this offseason. It’s very possible Brandon Aayuk gets traded, but I don’t want to see it done like that. I don’t want to see it that way. I don’t think that’s quite good enough, especially considering the the need that teams have and the value that these players provide. You I mean, Brandon Aayuk was the most efficient wide receiver out there uh uh in 2023. Like, he was unbelievable. So, I don’t want to see him just go for nothing. That’s crazy to me. And I’m not saying a third round’s nothing, but third round for Iuk and M. Jones does feel like nothing to me. does not feel good enough and and the likelihood of you hitting on that pick and the the question of of what you might get like I just I’m not for it. Let me know what you guys think in the comments though. You know, your opinions are always warranted. We are three days away from the Panthers game. Looking forward to talking about that every single day along the way. And I hope you guys are having a fantastic Friday afternoon evening.

  1. I didn't expect him back this season or maybe at all that was a pretty serious injury and his attitude was terrible before the injury . I'm not sure what we could recoup i. A trade but I'm kinda wishing we could get something back and let him go at this point he's a bigger distraction than anything.

  2. Aiuk got 45 mil. Guaranteed! If he manages his money well he won't have to work another day in his life. I think Nate is right. Aiuk may not play at all this year. Be nice if he did cause then we can show the league he is tradable and the other 26 mil he gets next year will be some other fools problem. I disagree that Aiuk is a great player. He catches a lot of balls but can't find the end zone. 2023 he only scored six T D's. Far from elite. 9ners need to admit this deal was another Moody or Lance. Terrible moves all three! Get over it Lynch and move on. Bye Bye Aiyuk. Trading Mac is a crazy idea. Was impressed with the D but 400+ yards was not good. Luckily, all the breaks went to the 9ners against the Cards. Hopefully the same happens Sunday against the Panthers. Bang Bang 9ner Gang!

  3. The last 49er QB that obviously instilled confidence, and the team played better overall, was Joe Montana (the GOAT), so Purdy doing the same is a rare and great attribute that is difficult to quantify.

  4. Trading B or JJ is not it.

Media guideline: If BA coughs, or even does and says nothing, that's a vicious attack on the 49ers.

Meanwhile, John Lynch could murder a player, and they would blame the player.

  5. We’ve lost key players for the season and just got Brock back. We need any edge we can get. And right now that edge is to keep your opponents guessing if he’s going to play or not

  6. Aiyuk and Jones for a 3rd? Absolutely not. We could keep Jones next year and get a 3rd round comp pick for him alone the following draft. If you're already going to get a 3rd round comp pick for Jones, alone, by letting him walk after his contract, a trade partner would have to give up more than what you'd already get by not trading him.
Who knows how Aiyuk will look when back and how much you could get for him. But, if you were to package the two players in a trade deal, I could see a scenario where they're traded to move from the 32nd, yes 32nd, pick in the draft up into the top half of the draft to grab a stud they like. So, pick 32 with Jones and Aiyuk for say… a pick in the 10 to 15 range. The 10 range if Aiyuk shows signs of his old self to end the season, and 15 range if he doesn't and trade partners are going solely off past success.
