Texier clears waivers, assigned to Springfield

  1. I was actually so optimistic for Tex. He had a really good 21/22 season with 20 points in 36 games but then missed 22/23 in the NHL cus of a family member passing (I believe) so played overseas. He just was never able to carry forward that momentum.

It’s a sign that no one else was even willing to give him a shot even at a relatively low aav and an expiring contract

  2. Wasn’t the rumor that he would terminate his contract? So it makes sense he wasn’t picked up. If he’s willing to go league minimum for a chance

  3. As a Tbirds STH, I’m excited to see him in Springfield! Hopefully he can help them win a game lol

  4. I have a feeling he’s gonna dominate in the AHL. During preseason he looked like a man amongst boys when playing against prospects. His puck possession/battles made him look like perron. The blues never really gave him much of a chance and when they did I never noticed him being bad at all. He even had some really solid games that made him look like a legit top 6 forward for example the winter classic game. I feel like the team never gave him enough runway to find some consistency. Watch him be a ppg player in the AHL

  5. With all of the injuries across the league, I’m surprised no one picked him up off waivers. Maybe there’s something I’m missing, but he has good size, good puck possession, and elite speed. He’s a second round pick, so it’s not the NHL’s abhorrence of late-round draft picks.

  6. He had the talent and ability. Another example of there not being enough hunt in the dog.

  7. Another TBirds STH here. If he actually suits up in Springfield, I hope he has a lights-out rest of the season. I did not expect to be watching Tex, Lucic and Rosen from my seat this year, but here we are. Go figure.

  8. Don’t know how to feel about that. I think he is more NHL than AHL caliber. Bad use and coaching of the asset this time around but not sure it’s on the staff could be some sort of misunderstanding it’s pretty weird.
