[Guardians] Moves today- Agreed to contracts with Festa, Jones, and Fry. Nontendered Enright, Hentges, and Brennan.

    Jones: $2 million

    Fry: $1.375 million

    Festa: $1 million

    Kwan’s will be agreed upon at a later date

  4. That is insane. I have no clue why you would non tender Brennan when he has options and Jones doesn’t, and you spent a year rehabbing him. Even more so for Hentges!! They knew last year that he wouldn’t pitch at all, so what could possibly change that they wouldn’t tender him a contract this year?

    Jones must have settled for something close to league minimum, because that is what Brennan would have made also.

    This is nuts they must know something about the health of Hentges and Brennan that we dont.

  12. I get Festa and Fry. I don’t think Fry was at full strength last season. Hopefully Fry will be at full strength next season and he can do some catching. Despite the Festa negativity, I think he did fine…I mean not great, but okay. And you have to admit Jones looks really good when he walks back to the dugout after striking out one more time, so I get that one, too. I don’t get the Brennan move. Brennan is better than Jones. Also cutting Enright when he’s hurt, hurts. I would think Hentges is ready for a comeback next season, so I don’t get that one, either. Someone is going to sign him.

  16. I’m bummed about Enright. I get it, he’s gonna be out recovering for a while and who knows how he’ll be when he’s back. But the kid was a good reliever and he’s had a hell of a time getting to where he is now

  17. I know everyone is hating on Jones, but I can’t imagine trying to play baseball with Plantar Fasciitis and competing at a high level.

    I’d take Brennan over NoJo. Hentges over Festa. I liked Enright, we still had use for him. I don’t understand the love for David Fry, he’s a wish in a uniform… prove me wrong bud

  30. I would love someone, ANYONE, in this front office to justify tendering a contract to Nolan Jones. I’m sick of hearing about his peripherals and how he’s just unlucky. He’s a horrible hitter and a somehow even worse fielder.

    I’m sure the company line is going to be “blah blah outfield depth blah blah we see so much potential to unlock here blah blah”. The truth is they’re going to get again take a year-long flier on a guy who had ONE decent year out of 4 in his career – in the hopes he becomes a power source and they don’t have to spend it on actual proven talent.

    I love this team with all my heart and soul but shit like this is MADDENING. There was NOTHING last year that suggested that he was on the verge of breaking out or reclaiming the success of one fluke year 2 seasons ago. He had horrible at bats, horrible pitch selection, and had literally no idea how to hit or even swing at a straight fastball. He was a near automatic out every time up.
