  1. I’ll give Cashman this- this statement is pretty damn blunt and honest about the market in general and about Grisham’s market. I also think they’re gonna go ahead and try to bet on Spencer Jones and Dominguez unless they can get a deal with Bellinger- and if they get Bellinger, they can potentially afford to use one of the prospects as a major trade chip for, say, a Tarik Skubal.

I think it’s ultimately a win-win for the Yankees- if they absolutely have to, they will use Grish as a $22.025M bench/platoon bat.

I really do think if the opportunity to put together the strongest team possible is there, Steinbrenner will go past any of the self-imposed thresholds relative to the luxury tax and whatever economic principals he’s employing to justify trying to lower the overall cost of the team to a relatively budget friendly amount in the high $200M’s range.

  2. translation: I’m so NOT confident in my abilities to do my job that I’m willing to spend $22 million dollars to cover it up

  3. You can tell no other big outfield moves are coming.

So your fallback plan is to have Grisham at Center, with Martian/Jones in LF.

That gives you more security than Belli in CF and either of those two in LF?

Does he not believe he has a chance at Belli?

That’s literally the only reason why security and Grisham should be in the same sentence.

  4. Cashman’s whole off-season will be bringing everyone back and claiming Cole returning from injury is equivalent to signing a big free agent.

why he didn’t bother attending GM meetings. This guy has a lifetime job until he decides to retire while doing bare minimum as GM
