HUGE CANUCKS TRADE UPDATE: VANCOUVER ALREADY SHOPPING LUKAS REICHEL + CONNOR HELLEBUYCK OUT
To open up this video, I wanted to give some acknowledgement to our brother in Kucks fandom, Chris Kant, who went out there and posted this saying that they just ordered their Lucas Riel Conucks jerseys. Couldn’t decide between the skate and the Orca, so I got both. And uh yeah, if you’re on the Twitter scene, you know exactly who Chris is. He’s kind of a troll sometimes. And this tweet obviously is poking fun at the latest Vancouver Conucks trade update that we have. No, we’re not talking about Kefir Sherwood and what Chris Johnston wrote about on the Athletic. Instead, we are talking about the newest, second newest German forward on the Vancouver Conucks. Take a look at this update posted by Ben Pope. It cites the recent episode of Halford and Bruff earlier this morning, where of course it’s Friday. So Rick Dollywal does go out there and make an appearance on the show as a guest. Take a look at what the assessment is here. Apparently, the Canucks are trying to trade Lucas Reichel, who has one point in 13 games with them, zero shots on goal in the last six games, and who was a healthy scratch last night. It’s not looking good for Lucas Reichel. And we have some other tweets that go out there and just dive into the situation. The Moge went out there and tweeted this as per Dollywall sports report that the Canucks are looking to move on from Riel. I understand they’re desperate for depth and were willing to give him a shot. I just don’t like the gamble that cost them a fourth round pick. Curtis Andrews says, “Desperate, but also something they have done over and over and over with no success at all. What does it say if you constantly get desperate and do the same thing that doesn’t ever work? And uh I can’t uncode this. What does this mean? The moge. What are you going out there and talking about here, my friend? I y with a few blanks in there. If anybody is good at hangman, then hey, go out there and leave your thoughts in the comment section below. Shout out to Hangman Adam Paige, by the way. Aw full gear. Okay, what am I doing? The Vancouver Conucks acquired Lucas Reichel out of a place of necessity. They needed forward support. They needed bodies on the roster. And Riel was seen as a reasonable candidate to go out there and provide some value there. He was just starting to put things together, too, in Chicago. Four points and five games played, two goals and two assists. That was all before he got shipped out to the Vancouver Canucks for a fourthround pick. Now, to be fair, four points in five games might seem a little bit good, but you then start to realize Riel had two goals and an assist against St. Louis on October 15th, a good few weeks before he got traded. Now, sure, that doesn’t necessarily negate the point production. four points in five games is still four points in five games. But the fact that three of those points came in one game does make things a little bit rockier when you acknowledge that, hey, there were a lot of pointless games in there before he got sent over to Van. And in Vancouver, I mean, you can see he was just not getting it done either. He got a top six opportunity with the Canucks. It was not looking good. He was speedy. He was pacey. He played with some skill, but really there wasn’t much out of Riel’s game that we could latch on to. They were talking about this on Huffford and Bruff like this guy, he’s become the new Drew O’ Conor where it’s like, yeah, what do you do? What kind of value do you provide? It’s hard to even pay attention to a guy like Riel in the lineup because he doesn’t do much. And now we are talking about him as trade fodder one more time because Vancouver went out there and traded a pick to get him and now they want to potentially get their draft pick back. It was not an experiment that worked out. This is what Taj went out there and said Dollywal said the Conucks have made Riel available for trade. Let’s go out there and read some of the replies here. If it’s true, the fact that this guy is getting traded first instead of Kane is insane. And I’m just going to go out there and say Evander Kane has been productive at least a lot more than Lucas Reichel has been at the very tail end of it. I feel bad for Riel. He finally started clicking in Chicago, was off to a good start, and gets traded and starts struggling again. I know he requested the trade, but it’s just bad timing. Ain’t no way. Austin 3:16 said that guy played every game in a position he doesn’t play in like two games in his natural position. He is not an NHL player. The Hawks did him no favors, but he was an overreach by Bowman when he drafted him. Very clearly not an NHL player. Okay, I’m not going to go out there and start rewriting history here because Lucas Reichel at one point was seen as a very legitimate NHL prospect. I mean, we talk about the profile which saw him get drafted by Chicago, 17th overall in 2020. We mentioned this a bunch already, but there were three good German players available in that draft. Timmy Stew, Riel, and JJ Purka. And all of them projected similarly, if not okay, Stutsa was obviously better, but like Riel and Purka were also seen as NHL potential candidates down the line. Let’s not try to rewrite history and pretend like Reichel was never going to make it or that he didn’t have any potential whatsoever. There was a reason he was taken 17th. And there was a reason he was ranked to go in this round of the draft 2. Mackenzie had him at 20. Some were a little lower. Elite prospects had him at 43. Craig Button had him at 33. So just at the tail end of the first round there, but obviously things have not been going well for Riel. And to my knowledge, it seems like Rick Dollywal was quite critical of how things went down. Take a look at this. This morning, Dollywal called this a failure of the Vancouver Connect scouting department. There’s no reason they should be giving up assets for guys then turning around and trying to dump them within a year. Riel, Heinen, Dehar, Sprung to name a few recent examples. And yeah, that just seems to be Vancouver’s bread and butter at this point. get guys that can be experiments and then just give up on them later when they are not actually working out properly. The Vancouver Conucks have been unwilling to improve their scouting department in that respect. And you can say that, oh, it’s a good thing that they’re able to recognize their mistakes and rectify them quickly, which I will agree with, but at the same time, it’s like these are a lot of mistakes, man. All within the span of a year. That is absolutely not ideal for an NHL franchise that wants to get back to the places that they were two seasons ago. But with that in mind, let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. How do you feel about this Lucas Riel trade update? Also, you might have clicked on this video because of some other news that was in the title and the thumbnail. We got a few minutes left, so why not go out there and talk about it. Let’s head over to Manitoba and start talking about one of the best goalies in the National Hockey League and how it seems like he is going to be missing some time. Let’s head over to Darren Drager and read what he said this morning about the Winnipeg Jets shutting down Connor Habib in order for him to undergo a minor anthroscopic knee procedure. It is anticipated that Hellabuk will be out 4 to six weeks. Oh boy. My goodness, man. Talk about that, eh? It’s a minor procedure, but he’s out four to six weeks. The Jets are in trouble. Winnipeg has been caved in at five on five and Hellabuk was their bail bucket. Now, what this means for me and what this means for maybe many of you as well is a beautiful fantasy hockey streaming opportunity for the next two days, if not the next two weeks, maybe for Eric Comry because he’s going to be the main guy in Winnipeg. Now, Connor Halabuk is on the shelf for an extended amount of time. Let’s go out there and see this though. Winnipeg caved in at five on five. Have you seen the schedule this month? It’s brutal. The Jets will be fine now that it’s over. Tough road trip for sure. Neil goes out there and says, “So yeah, Connor Halabach has been as good as he has ever been. We recognize just the talent profile that he has. 913 save percentage this season and a 251 goals against. He was at 925 last year, 921 the year before that, 920 the year before that. He is a heart winner. A Did he win the Ted Lindsay as well?” No, he just won the heart. Oh yeah. and he’s gotten three VZnas. So, very, very nice there out of Connor Halle. He’s a very important part of the Winnipeg Jets and the system that they run. But now it’s Eric Comry’s time to shine, baby. Pick this guy up in fantasy. I did in two of my leagues. And I’m feeling pretty good about it because Comry has already been pretty strong. Now he’s just going to get a lot more opportunities to start. Hopefully, he gets the start today and then he gets the start on Sunday probably. It’s an interesting time for the Winnipeg Jets. But either way, let me know your thoughts in the comments about the commentary topics of today’s videos. Lucas Reichel is up for trade again and Connor Halabuk is out for four to six weeks. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. I hope you enjoyed this roll 9 and bye.

Insanity
Insanity defined as doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result
They haven't even given Reichel a good chance. He was playing well and creating tons of opportunities centering Boeser and Kane but then they moved him down the lineup and cut ice time.
He had skill and speed, should've tried him with Petey. Would be insanity to trade him. 4ths are basically worthless anyway
Send him down to Abby already
But this has also worked when it does. Joshua, sherwood, burrows, garland even. They were all depth players except burrows that was signed as an undrafted player but nonetheless van has taken some chances on potential and it has worked. But is this team built to bring in a young guy as a potential. We need play now proven guy thats why imo he's not performed to "potential"
Heinen , Desharnais, Sprong were all acquired as free agents , only Reichel they had to fork out a 4th rounder .
Since trading Reichel, Chicago has been much better as well.
