Caleb Williams on preparing for Steelers | Press Conference
How different does this yield to you than last year where you’re sitting here the team seven and three you have so much potentially ahead of you such high stakes for the rest of the season. Yeah. Um you know I think I think we feel good where we’re at. Um but you also do understand that things can turn. We I mean we have a whole season left basically with with what are we seven games left and so you know um things can still turn fast in those ways. So, it’s us understanding where we’re at, understanding where we can be, um, and focusing on, you know, where we where we are at this moment. Um, you know, Ben Ben said something uh to me and then said it to the team recently is, you know, his one of his old mentors. Um, he said, you know, you don’t, and this is speaking on quarterback terms, you know, I don’t know if you can go 25 for 25. Um, but I do know that you can go one for one. Um, you know, each and every single time 25 times. Um, and so, uh, just focusing on where we’re at, um, and focusing on being one and one. Um, and and that’s that’s me saying 100%, but that’s one and0 this week. Um, and and you know, we focus on that. We go one and0 each week. You know, we’ll be exactly where we want to be. You talked last week about the pressure in lateg game situations and how that raises your game because there’s just there’s just no other option than it has to be, right? Yeah. Do you feel like it’ll be that this might be a situation like that too big picture where there’s the stakes are so high, the pressure is on that it will kind of have that same effect with you? Yeah, I think I I’ll you know, my mindset is um I don’t ever flip into this is a higher state game than the other. that’s never my it’s, you know, you know, you start you start falling into that trap and, you know, you start looking at records or you start looking at um, you know, where teams are and where other teams are and where we’re at and you start comparing and doing all these different things and so then you start getting distracted with, you know, uh, where you want to go and where you want to be um, as a as a team and as an organization and um, you I’ve learned that, you know, being here, but also, you know, a little bit earlier in my career, um, in college and things like that. And so, um, you know, just just solely focused on, you know, being one and0 this week and, um, not adding or, you know, or or subtracting any pressure from from any game because there’s only 17 that were promised and, you know, each and every game, you know, means the world for that week. So, when you went back and looked at those two deep balls you guys couldn’t connect on, the one to Rome and the one to DJ, when you watched the film, what did you see that next time you you’ll be a you guys will be able to connect on that? Yeah, I think uh um Romes uh just just give him a little bit better shot. It was about a yard in front of him or so. And um you know uh those are those are something that are lower percentage throws uh just overall um if you’re just looking at at um you know the the the statistics of it. But, um, you know, we we fully expect ourselves, um, and those type of passes, those type of throws to be, uh, very, very, very high percentage between Rome and I. And then DJ, I just got to give DJ a shot. Um, you know, I let it go kind of early. Uh, understanding that, you know, somebody was um, you know, starting to starting to run free. Um, and and, uh, you know, just standing there. If I take a hit, I take a hit and just deliver. DJ, good ball. What does it say about the team that bunch of situations late in games, it’s not just one or two people, it’s so many different people stepping up like a Josh Blackwell Moody Duet this last week. What does it say about the team that everybody’s making plays? Yeah, we’re bought in. Uh we believe um and like I said after the game, we got all the guys that we need. We got everybody. Um we just have to go out there and execute uh for the whole game, all 60 minutes. We’re in such a unique position because like I said, we have all the guys. you got all the coaches and you don’t want to um you know waste these opportunities um in these weeks and things like that cuz like I said you only got 17 that are promised and so uh just being able for us uh being able to focus and maximize what we have and where we’re at um and and and start really affecting the game positive positively you know throughout the whole game. um as as as all three phases um are connecting and and jelling and meshing, you know, we we’d rather do that rather than, you know, have the you know, somebody show up or, you know, one side of the ball show up or two sides of the ball show up at the end of the game and have to, you know, really, you know, uh kind of nut up or shut up. And so, uh we want to we want to be able to focus on uh all 60 minutes and, you know, start start, you know, doing where we’re capable of on all three sides of the ball. be honest when you were when you were growing up said the other day about the 5050 balls. It’s something he’s not super keen on. But like with deep shots, how does that change your approach and how you deliver those deep shots? Uh I’m not a 50/50 guy either. Um um that’s not that’s not my that’s never been my thing. Uh that’s uh you you you you don’t want to give the defenders um or anybody um you know that type of percentage. um you know, you you you work your tail off. You uh do all these different things um to to try and hit and gel and mesh at the right time at the right play. Um you know, and that that starts with a line and it starts with me delivering a good ball, play actions or um you know, the the receivers running a good route and making it more of a a higher percentage. But um 50-50 balls are not that they’ve never been, you know, kind of my thing unless obviously it’s fourth down or you know, whatever, desperation time. But um other than that, it’s it’s uh you know, it’s it’s we we work on higher percentages. You know, that’s why we got we got the coaches we got, we got the players we drafted and got and you know, all these different things to uh be able to make these plays, not 50/50 chances and instead make them, you know, higher percentage in our favor. When you were growing up, what was it you like most about? Um, I think uh he’s probably it’s it’s it’s probably a couple quarterbacks in in in the world that have, you know, been able to spin the ball the way that he does. Um, and, you know, growing up as a kid, you um, you know, when you when you find and realize how hard it is to to play this position and, um, you know, you you admire some of the things he’s been able to do over, you know, this this long career he’s had. And so, um, you know, the way he’s been able to spin the ball and put the ball in different places, whether on the run in the pocket, um, that’s that’s something I probably probably would say. How much have you thought about the I’m sorry. Do you hope he goes do I hope he plays? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You always you always want, uh, you know, their best out there. Um, and and he’s one of the best in the world and he’s been one of the best in the world for, you know, however however long he’s been in the league. And so, uh, you always want to go versus the best when you when you play and, um, you know, hopefully get to, you know, say what’s up to him, shake his hand after. Yeah, that was kind of my question. Just what what this matchup is to you. I know his his status is kind of in doubt with the injury, but just having a chance to go against Aaron Sunday. Yeah. Yeah, it’d be cool. Um it’s just a for me, you know, not getting into the mindset of of of anything other than it’s just another matchup. Um, and then after the game, you know, you obviously, you know, you give him his kudos and um, and and and you know, ask for any advice or anything like that, but you know, during the game and and uh, before the game, it’s, you know, it’s it’s us battling versus each other, going to war and trying to, you know, be one and0 for for our teams. How do you how do you do you have to guard against just in terms of I know you you’ve said you want to win this team the Super Bowl. You have to get to the playoffs first. Just knowing where this team is right now, seven and three, first in the NFC North. Do you have to guard against thinking, hey, that’s within reach, but it’s still like six potential weeks away. Like, how do you approach that? Yeah, I’ve I’ve I’ve gone through one season so far, so I’ve um definitely not, you know, fully a vet or anything with this whole whole process, but um I’ve gone through a season where we started off, you know, pretty well. Um and just understanding that there’s it’s a long season. um a lot can happen and uh you know um I’ve I’ve I’ve kind of been in those shoes of what you’re kind of talking about and and looking forward and um you know just just making sure that you know myself that you know I I I stay away from the social media um I I don’t focus on any any of that um and I stay present uh with where I’m at. Um and and make sure I stay on my routine, make sure um I lead these guys. um they they feel my leadership, they feel my uh determination to to go and win, you know, and become one and0 each and every week that we play. And um it starts with this week. I know you blitz when you face Brian Flores, but 66% blitz rate is kind of an absurd number. Did that feel like that in the moment? And how do you think you handled it? Um I think uh you know, I there was a couple passes that I missed or a couple passes that um you know, we we we won back as a team. Um and and you know there was times you know where we were clicking and we were moving the ball and running the ball and passing the ball and moving well and so um yeah the I didn’t know that it was that much. Um but you know they were they were getting a little bit of pressure. Um and you know you could kind of feel it sometimes and so um I think I think offensive line did a great job. you know, everybody else, you know, tight ends and running backs did a great job blocking and um you know, we we uh you know, we got to execute and do do better. Um just to be able to pull away and not keep the game so close and um kind of keep it, you know, kind of like the first game. But um yeah, I think uh I think I did feel it a little bit um you know, when it comes that much. You guys, you guys were seven and three and you talked about this belief that you had. If you can rewind a little bit to January when you were excited about them coming in, was this kind of what you thought it would look like? How does this compare to kind of what what you hoped this season would be? Uh, I didn’t really put an expectation on it in the sense of that. Um, when you start training and and and and you know, learning the playbook and all these different things, you understand that that’s that’s a process in itself. Um, and then, you know, there’s there’s multiple different things that that attribute to winning games and all of these different things. And so, um, you know, that was my focus when he first got here and I was just excited, um, you know, just cuz all the things that I’ve heard from, you know, my my friends around the league that whether, you know, they’ve they’ve played against him or they played for him and things like that and, um, you know, just excited for for what was to come. And then, you know, now being here with him, he’s been everything that he’s told me he was going to be. Um and um you know just just going out there and fighting for him and all the coaches and all the you know all the players in Chicago and so um I think he’s he’s provided that that belief that con uh confidence but also the discipline for us um and when you have all all those different things and belief in your coach belief in each other um you know you you start being able to you know win some games and uh even win some maybe unfavorable games. What stands out to you about the what stands out to you about the Steelers defense when you watch them on tape? Yeah, they got they got some guys um on that on that side of the ball. They got um they got some some vets. Um and then they also have some some real vets that are playmakers and they just have playmakers on that side of the ball. Um overall uh the pass rush, the two guys uh 90 and 51. Um, and then, uh, you know, they obviously have Jaylen and and and and Hayward and, you know, you keep Patrick, all these different, you know, all these different type of, uh, players and, you know, you see why that they’ve been where they’ve been for the past, I mean, I don’t know how many years. Um, and, you know, why they haven’t really had a losing season in a bunch of years and things like that. So, uh, it’s a great challenge for us. We’re excited to go out there and, uh, compete, uh, compete against them and, uh, be able to, um, you know, show who we are. Thanks, guys. Awesome. The Bears. Please.

One thing I learned about Caleb is that the dude is detailed..in everything he does on that field..CW kinda reminds me of the psychotic excellence of..dare I say it…MJ!! Yeah I said it lmao
⭐⭐⭐ I saw Kyle face during a CJ interview! I knew he would be back soon..😮😂 J.J. as well.. their replacements are getting too much shine! 🤣👀😢
These reporters with these dumb questions 🙄😂😂
We can all see the growth, right? He's taking on the identity of the coach and its kind of showing.

Let’s go Bears
Never give it back ✊️
Caleb avoiding sacks is like Daddy taunting playground kids.
It’s almost like Caleb plays it safe till he knows he can’t because we need the win, lets it fly/balls out, and wins the game. Imagine that logic. Crazy
the 50/50 answer was so good.
Respectful GENT.
Lot of great questions from the gathered media.
🐻⬇️
Nobody asked him about his birthday yesterday turning 24. Media needs to be better, so disappointed!
Anyone else notice how Courtney Cronin constantly cuts people off and then overpowers them even if the other reporter starting talking first?
HOUDINI!
Going up against discount double check…pass selection must be better and converting opportunities will be imperative
I get the feeling, by his comments that this season he wants to prove something. At this point, the focus is pretty intense at achieving. 1-0 each week. 1-1 each pass play. The intensity is palpable. Tbh, I like it. 🐻⬇️
living near lambeau field and a Bears Fan since 1950s has been hard the last 20yrs,, finally a breath of fresh air with Johnson and Williams,, good running back and a strong receiving core,, get the ball to Loveland,, the man is a beast in the open field
Will Compton is over here talking his s**t. Let's shut his mouth showing that he is a s***ty linebacker always unworthy of the Bears and he's a s***ty broadcast.
Bro please blowout a team, stop being gay out there
Steelers will be a great test. I’m excited for this one!
Didn't mR gEnErAtiOnAL have a QBR of about 26 last week?
And still homers are out here glazing the hype mirage

Courtney asks the dumbest questions
I’m from Tennessee, and this game will be my first-ever Bears game! If the Bears would win, this would mean the world to me! Good luck and Bear down! 🐻 ⬇️ 💙
da beers
Why does Courtney Cronin always ask the dumbest questions, and she always makes it worse by doubling down and asking somebody else… mom says no, ask dad type mentality.
That’s my quarterback! Chicago loves you CW18 🐻⬇️
