Cooper Kupp: “We’re All Together In This Thing” | Seattle Seahawks

When coach was just talking about kind of the sense of urgency now that takes place after that game on Sunday, do you see that just the ability to improve but an added sense of urgency? Um, yeah, I think it’s I think maybe it’s less about like uh adding urgency as much as it is just addressing the importance of us. It’s part of our process and you know I think the the guys have I mean we talked about over and over again. It’s all we talk about is just our process. how dialing to our process can we be and not letting it be stagnant and um you know I think it’s more so pointing to like hey this is what gets us where we want to go is um handling our day-to-day stuff. It’s it’s the small wins and stacking them over and over and over again that’s going to give us the best chance to uh do those things that we envision ourselves doing at the end of the year. And so um I think that’s more so what the emphasis is on not so much like we have to do more or be more urgent. I think the um you know guys are guys are very dialed in here. When your quarterback has a rough day and a player on the other side of the ball, in this case Ernest Jones is sticking up for him as emphatically as he did on Sunday. Just what does it tell you about this team? Yeah, I just think it speaks to that connection and we’ve talked about that Mike’s, you know, message to us from day one. You know, it’s 12 as one. We’re all we’re all together in this thing and um you know, Ernest is a guy that a lot of people in this room, a lot of people in this building uh have a ton of respect for and rightfully so. And so, um, no, it does. It shows you that there’s, uh, there’s that connectiveness and there’s that understanding that this is going to be something that’s, you know, we win games, we lose games together. It’s it’s the most cliche thing ever, but in football, it’s just it’s the most true thing. And, um, we know there’s going to be games where um, we’re going to need the defense to pick us up. And, you know, we almost got away with one there where, you know, offensively, we weren’t on top of our stuff as much as we should be. Um, but shoot almost won a game that, you know, we had no business really really being a part of the way that we were playing offensively. Um, and you know, there’s going to be games like that. There’s going to be games where offensively we’re able to get things going and we got to pick up the defense and it’s just it’s just part of how football works and um, but really cool by by Ernest and I mean it means a lot for the the guys here and um, shows kind of, you know, shows that we we believe what we’ve talked what we’ve talked about. You probably just heard coach talk about red zone offense, but in your estimation after watching the film, what was missing? What what was lacking and what needs to be better next week? Yeah, just details. It’s you get down there and I mean, you’re you’re already playing the game on a, you know, a razor thin margin and it gets even uh smaller in the red zone. It’s just, you know, being able to be that much quicker and um that much more on your detail. I just everything’s just that much tighter. You know, you hesitate at all down there and um you’re not going to get what you want. So, um, you know, just little things and and shoot, there’s just across the board guys just being better. Guys being better in their details and and we hone into that stuff and and man, we’ve had weeks that we’ve been really good and it just shows you um it shows you just that the the difference being able to have that a little bit anticipation, a little bit more anticipation where, man, is it some film study here or there that’s going to give you that opportunity? Um, and then being able to just, you know, pull the trigger, let let it rip on Sundays. Rasheed Shahid seemed to get a little bit more involved in the second game. Um, you’re starting to see the the impact he can have as as he gets more time here. Yeah, I mean, shoot, he’s uh he’s a, you know, very special football player and man, the sky’s is the limit for him. I’m I’m excited to see it kind of continue to grow and he’s uh I think the understanding of this offense a little bit having been with Clint last year, you see just the subconscious stuff that’s kind of coming back up um that like, man, shoot, he’s known, he knows this stuff. is just getting in again to the details of stuff that you haven’t been running this offense for a a year now. Um and now you get to be come back and be a part of it and um but yeah, I’m excited about seeing kind of as that as he starts to grab on to some of those things more and what his um impact can be on the game. Was it a a weird feeling to to be disappointed that the Rams won a game? Uh, no, no, it was it was uh Yeah. I mean, yeah, we’re past past that now. Congo line of Rams waiting to talk to you after the game on the field. What that mean to you and what moments were revisited that? Yeah, I mean it’s it’s really cool. I mean the at the end of the day like you know coming into work I love this game. I love the the journey of it, but it’s like it’s coming in and doing it with a group of guys and finding ways to, you know, work together to achieve a goal. Um, it just it’s special. It’s really special. I don’t take that for granted. Um, and really it’s really cool to see that, you know, that um those relationships and things like that have um have grown out. You just you get close with people and you’ve managed to like you show people that you’re going to be there for them. Um, and more than just football stuff, but it’s just the it’s the journey. So, it’s all the stuff you’re doing here, the time in between meetings and just getting to know guys and uh know their families and um it’s just it’s a very special thing. So, um that it was very meaningful, very meaningful. And um you know, it it just like shows me like man that is like that is a very that’s a thing I hold a lot of value in is being able to man impact people’s lives and um have that, you know, have that like I mean above football it’s like guys just friends that I get to check in on and um that that was very special. Did you expect that as long as you were out there? as many guys as you met with I knew that there was a like I knew there was going to be a group of guys that you know were I had spent a lot of time with um in my time in LA but um to that extent that it was was it was um yeah it was very special after the game you said it’s not easy to do what Sam did and you know put moving past the mistakes and everything in real time. How can you tell when a quarterback is has done that has moved on versus is maybe still letting the mistakes affect him? Yeah, I think you can see in just their demeanor. You can whether it’s, you know, you know, saying things that they normally don’t, you know, what what’s their messaging like, how what’s their energy like going up and down the sidelines. Um, and I think when that demeanor starts to change, okay, now whether it’s whatever way it switches, you know, whether like, oh, suddenly they’re super positive or super, you know, it’s like there’s something that they’re you can tell there’s something there’s a response happening to whatever h whatever went on. Um, and Sam’s just been steady. Like Sam, like that was the thing. It’s like, man, he’s just he’s the same as he was on drive one as he was, you know, right there at the end of the game. And, um, I think that’s, uh, that’s the hard thing to do. Question. If you could snap your fingers and prove one thing about the way this offense is playing, what would you what would it be? Oh, I have to snap my fingers and and prove one thing. Uh, the details. What would be an example of the detail? Uh, I mean it’s it’s for every single person there’s it’s all different things, right? It’s like it’s your stim as a wide receiver. It’s, you know, what what’s your angle coming out of that thing? What’s your initial angle off the line of scrimmage? Like do you know who you’re going to? Are you understanding where the run’s trying to hit offensive line? Are you stepping underneath yourself? Are you stepping forward? Are you stepping like are you stepping with the right foot? Are you hitting the right part of the defensive lineman? You know, that quarterback, where are your eyes at? Running back, are your tracks good? As a tight end, it’s the same thing. It’s it’s all tied into the same stuff. And so, um, all of those things that, you know, you don’t know unless you’re in these meetings and you know what we’re teaching. Um, know all that can be better and every single person on the offense can improve it and, uh, that’s our goal week in and week out is to make sure we’re we’re by the end of the year those details are better and we’re on track for that. Yeah. Thanks,

  1. This team is very young as far as the players as well as the coach and if they ever get things worked out They're definitely going to be the team to be they have by far the best personnel in football This is the overall talent team I've seen in years In fact there several teams are very good of course the Rams this is their best team As well New England looks very good Denver It's amazing some of the top teams I'm seeing this year

  2. I’m so glad we have him. But he’s a Ram, thru and thru. He misses LA. I feel like he doesn’t care to be here and that he’d rather still be in LA.

  3. I liked his detailed comment about the details at the end. Coop would/will make a great coach after he retires. Hopefully, he stays in Seattle.

  4. He seems frustrated. I get it. That game against the Rams was an embarrassment Offensively. I think he takes that to heart. 😢
Hope he can elevate this Offense. 💚💙
