REPORT: Jonathan Gannon SAFE As Arizona Cardinals Coach Despite Disastrous Season
As the Arizona Cardinals continue to go through the season through hell, is there going to be a change at head coach in the off season or maybe even before that? Bo Brock, Johnny, venerable PHX Cardinals, like and subscribe to PHNX Sports. And Johnny, despite the Cardinals two non-competitive appearances against division rivals and being three and 13 in division since JG took over, it’s not necessary that JG is going to be sent packing at the end of the year. Yeah. And again, let’s preface this by saying that this is not Bow and I’s like opinion on this. It’s not hypothetically what we would do, right? We certainly know what the fan base wants right now. Just cutting to the point of what um I’m hearing, we’re hearing will likely happen, and that’s the Jonathan Ganon is going to remain the head coach of this team in in 2026. Um and again, like you could have a lot of emotions that feel like that. Whether that’s the right decision or the wrong decision, there is no disputing. They have regressed. they have been non-competitive. Um, and things can always change. Seven games to go if it continues down this route. Um, I want to preface that by saying like they lose out, every game looks like yesterday. Okay, we’re having a different conversation, but you’re not playing Kyle Shanahan, Mike McDonald, the NFC West every week. There’s there are winnable games that they feel like are left on the schedule. Um, I can tell you definitively, double stamp this, Jonathan Ganon got um support, reassurance after the game from leadership. Uh, that you know what, let’s just chalk this up as a season that didn’t go our way and let’s move forward together. That’s as much as I can share. Um, and I that’s going to sure piss a lot of people off. Um, I’m just we’re just bringing facts on this. uh video on demand here on PHNX Sports. Um I can also tell you, you know, Michael Bidwell wants Montafford and Jonathan Ganon with him when they open the new North Phoenix facility, the three of them, the Brain Trust. Um and they want to correct this together. Now, that doesn’t mean that they’re not going to make changes to the staff. That doesn’t mean that people maybe couldn’t get fired from the staff from here until the end of the season, right? We’re recording this before the press conference for JG later today. But like the big three for the franchise, the owner, the GM, the head coach are going to be in place barring something unforeseen here in the next seven weeks. Yeah. Go ahead. No, that’s a there’s a lot to unpack there. Obviously, you’re trying to find a path forward, right, where it would be, you know, a light at the end of the tunnel and that there’s successful run in the current contingent for the Arizona Cardinals, Johnny. But, you know, the optics of this are about as against the grain as modern day NFL 20 in 2025 going into 2026 really is. Yeah. I mean, you’re going to have a fan base where unfortunately as as we’re on record, uh, being Jonathan Gan and guys, but remain objective as far as covering this team and realizing that the team wasn’t competitive in all three phases and back-to-back uh, games and and you look at the the stats and and the standings and it just hasn’t been where it needs to be and and traditionally those coaches that have these types of records are sent shown the door. So, it’s going to be a tough cell and trying to weather this storm. It’s it’s not only as you mentioned, you know, going into the off season and the 2026 season like this this facility is not set to open until 2027. I mean, they haven’t even I don’t even sure they’re they’ve broken ground on this. So, again, we got a long time between now and then. They’ve dug themselves a monumental gigantic size hole with, you know, what people would perceive as maybe a a hoiz shovel to try to dig themselves out of this. I think I’ve seen some talk on Twitter, you know, I posted this last night. Um, and so I I saw some like quotes this morning, some comments that it’s if this is true, that it’s about money and that Michael Bidwell doesn’t want to pay three coaches because of course they’re still playing paying Cliff Kingsbury as extension and we know JG and and mine got five-year deals, right? Um, you know, I think it’s impossible to say whether that that’s true or not. Um, I don’t think that’s true. I don’t buy into that either. I don’t buy into that either. I think John I think I think Michael Bidwell loves these two guys, believes in them. I also think fair or not when he hired them and we remember the state of the job at the time in 2023 I think there was an understanding like guys you’re going to you’re going to see your deals through. You’re going to be able to see this through your vision through. Um we’re not going to cut corners. We’re not going to, you know, we’re not going to take this as a a year to your thing where you could be gone at any moment, you know, barring like, you know, a scandal or anything like that. Like, I’m going to let you go. I want to be able to have a reputation of somebody who um gives coaches and and GMs ample time. And maybe that’s the wrong decision. I I don’t know if it’s the right decision. It sure looks like the wrong one this morning based on the last two weeks, right? But I also think like Michael Bidwell, this I’m going to get killed for this. And his father, his late father ran through coaches. Yeah. Like the Jets and the Giants do now. Um and maybe he’s he’s done doing that. Like I I think that there there’s an expectation with this fan base that, you know, Michael Bidwell can’t get anything right and the and the football personnel department’s terrible. And it’s just like, well, what did we say when they hired these guys? like give them time to see their vision through. Um I maybe he’s too patient. That’s not for me to say. But what I can say is like what we were asking for in 2023 and what you needed to promise people is time to get it right and they’re they’re going to get plenty of time to see this through. So, I don’t even know if you can blame Michael Bidwell in that sense. If if that’s what they were promised and that’s what they’re discussing and that’s the reinforcement that they’re getting and the assurance. Yeah. I mean, like, yeah, be mad at the football people. I I I think I think Michael Bidwell is just like, “Guys, figure it out. We’re we’re in this together.” And that’s, you know, that’s better than Michael Bidwell micromanaging his employees in Tempe that we heard about. like I I was just call spade a spade in that aspect. Yeah. Look, I mean there there’s so many variables at play here. uh the emotions are running about as high as as they get as far as trying trying to talk a fan base uh into this following the performances that we’ve witnessed in back-to-back weeks and and really what we’ve seen from the the jump of the 2025 season given what the expectations were. Um it it’s just kind of what we’ve gone through versus what we set like you’re talking about when they were hired day one in the undertaking that that they in the vision that they were going to uh put themselves through. sure that like patience has to be at a premium but now like as you live through it you know I it is is this fan base the majority of them it’s you would be hardressed to find anybody that has the confidence that if they do get the roster to where they want and they can you know they they have for the first time a healthy enough roster which is never usually never the case in the NFL right you know like are they going to be when there where there’s a truly level playing field, which you know is asking a lot in in in this sport, you know, would you say like can can they get the job done? And like I I I get I see the things as far as what Ganon has built culture-wise in within those walls that hasn’t been there before. What he’s done and how he’s been able to push bidwill to do things that his family hasn’t done. and Monty Austin Ford along with JG how they’ve been able to kind of uh bring outside perspective into this organization that was stuck in its ways and it’s losing ways that is new and opening up new worlds for Michael Bidwell and and this is all well and good but I think ultimately now especially from here on going forward this fan base is just going to judge this solely based on wins and losses and that’s going to be just such a tough uphill climb. I think for this regime to kind of get themselves back in the good graces like this is something that used to happen a long time ago. People will tell you about coaches who had just awful starts to their careers and back in the 80s and 90s they were given the grace but like this day and age this is kind of unprecedented. Yeah. And you know you like it it would be a great story but I’m not going to sit here and try to like spoon feed that to to the Cardinals fan base. I think they have every right to be frustrated and mad. Um, but at the same time, like you got to think of like, okay, what’s the path forward here that does find success, especially in this division that’s just a gauntlet you’re I think you unfortunately, Bo, I think you put the division on the back burner for the rest of this year and you’re like, let’s assess that in the off season. Are we is the division out of reach? Well, no. I just mean like you’re not even let’s not you’re not in the class of your own division, right? You got three teams that are going to make the playoffs. You’ve got maybe the coach of the year. You’ve got maybe the MVP. Like which one is the coach of the year? Which one of the three? I don’t know. Tell me. You got multiple coach of the years. I I I think I think that might scare Michael Bidwell, too. Like I I just like you can’t I know you don’t think that he thinks like that. You’re right. You’re probably right. like I can’t go out and recruit somebody to compete in this division right now. And so I I think better the you know the devil you know than the devil you don’t know. I I I honestly He just believes in these people. I I agree with that. I I think that’s the biggest thing and I’ve said this to you and I and I’ve seen it uh like people would say why the hell did Michael Bidwell stick with Steve Kim for 10 seasons? Believe in him, right? Why why did why was Kim within the in that organization for 20 years when you just see the misstep after misstep and we’re not comparing we’re not but I I think it gives it sheds light into Michael Bibwell and I don’t mean this in a in a bad way is very impressionable and very loyal and and you know as far as sometimes those are good qualities those are good qualities but you know as far as in this game which is a production league it it can be you something that that becomes uh a negative. I mean, you just got to figure you got to figure out a a path forward. Like, okay, if you if these guys can check some boxes here, you got to be able to check the boxes that matter to the fans that pay uh, you know, hard-earned money to go see the game and buy jerseys and the TV packages. I think I think like you’re trying to get these guys to a position where you can get get together in North Phoenix and they’ve helped you bring the franchise forward and that you want to be able to see their vision through. I I think Michael Bidwell thinks that the roster is talented. I think it’s he thinks it’s been refortified. I think there’s the aspect of the Kyler Murray situation where it’s like they’re going to get that mulligan which is which is crazy because Kyler Murray’s not giving up 40 points backtoback weeks, right? Like that that’s a real thing. Yeah, that’s a absolutely real thing. Um so you you mentioned like path forward. Okay. I I think there’ll be changes on the staff. How could there not be? Um and I was texting with somebody late last night like I I think Jeff Rogers is in is in real trouble. He’s had a bad he’s had a bad season. Um but like that’s not gonna move the needle with the fans. Special team coach isn’t gonna move the needle. Um I I think I think there could be some hesitation to part with Justin Fry given the relationship with Ohio State and given the fact that your offensive coordinator feels like everybody feels like he’s out of his depth right now. Like I I would not be surprised to see Justin Fry return with a new offensive coordinator. I think like the public perception like ju Justin Fry was courted by multiple NFL teams. You got him, but did you set him up to fail because of who’s calling plays? I don’t I I I I wouldn’t dismiss that. I mean, it’s his first year in the NFL. He’s inexperienced. I the the down it’s not the downfall of Ganon because I clearly I don’t think he’s going anywhere, right? The downfall of these three seasons in my opinion unobjectively has been the inexperience on their staff. And so if you talk about how to move forward, then you need an experienced play caller. If if you’re if you’re saying we’re running it back with Jonathan Ganon and Austin Ford, you need veteran experience suddenly on both sides of the ball. Like and I I love Nick Rollis. His unit has regressed. Maybe you get a senior, you know, quality control coach DC, but offensively it becomes a mandate for Montafford and Jonathan Ganon to get Brian Dable or Kevin Stfansky here. Like it that is a non-starter because to your point, you’re talking about play calling and getting the fan base back in a position where they trust this franchise. You have to get one of those two guys. That that’s the e for me. It’s like why did the Cardinals lose yesterday? Because I don’t think it was a talent question. You don’t think so either. Well, the Niners have two elite coaches on their staff. One on offense, one on defense. It’s up to Ganon to figure out his side of the ball. The Cardinals have to be able to match that offensively and there are going to be opportunities to do that this off season. And you I think I think they’d rather just go throw a bunch of money in an offensive coordinator. Right. Look, I mean that that’s the thing too where it makes people kind of I eye roll and be skeptical about you know finding you know success moving forward is it’s not just okay we see what’s been exposed we see the glaring issues on this team and and sure like you can you can poke you can find them up and down in all three phases no doubt about it. So, it’s like, yeah, special teams, that’s that’s a that’s going to the needle’s not even going to like move at all. It’s not going to pulsate at all. As far as offensive coordinator, there’s going to be several teams in the market for an offensive coordinator. Um, you have to back quarterback got to aggressively find and and seek out a new quarterback. like these are that that’s going to be such uh an important couple storylines that they have to that they have to find successful, you know, options there in in markets that aren’t yielding a whole lot of options. So, it’s uh it’s as much as you like, hey, I put myself back in the shoes of of Bo Brock, Johnny Venerable, this Cardinals fan base, wanting to do this thing the right way and understanding that comes with a lot of patience, but also understanding like, hey, this thing has hit a level of um you know, concern in year three, not year one and year two. Um, I think that that just kind of makes things uh that much more tougher to to to understand why people are a little skeptical on this. Well, when we you and I are going to cover this team at Nauseium like we do every offseason and and the theme of the off season is going to be, you know, fire Jonathan Ganon. Should have fired him, get rid of him. People are going to be highly emotional, rightfully so. He he’s he’s not gonna be able to win people back this off season. They’re they’re going to make, you know, they should try. They’re going to need to try and and you know, we’re recording this at the the timing before John and Ganon’s press conference on Monday afternoon. And I’m going to challenge my co-host to ask about at the press conference later today, like what what what would you say to the fan base, the messaging to the fan base right now? Because I I think that the fan base kind of feels isolated from the the the the Cardinals operation right now. How could they not? Right? And again, we’re not coming on here and saying this is the right move and and you know, we did a coaching hierarchy on the postgame show. Yeah. And then I got, you know, tipped off late last night and it’s just like he’s safe. It’s like, okay, I like if he’s safe, there’s nothing you can do about it if you want him gone, right? It’s it’s in his best interest, though. He knows this. Like, they need to win some games at the end of this year. And I know people people are going to be pissed off because they want a high draft pick, but like they the you know Houston game, the Falcons game, the Bengals game this weekend against the Jaguars like show progress on defense development young players win some games here like and and then you know we’ll reassess in January. But I I think the bottom line is Bo is that this fan base views this coaching staff as unlikable and illquipped to compete and how could you give them more time? Yeah, we’re not defending it. We’re trying to rationalize it. Right. Michael Bidwell likely made a commitment that he wants to see through and Monty Austin forward, Jonathan Gan and Michael Bidwell are all very close. you know, throw Dave Sears in there like they believe in what they’re building. However, Jonathan Ganon needs to look in the mirror and we would tell him this to his face and and make some cold hard decisions. Okay, you’re gifted another year. Your staff is not good enough. What changes are you going to make to make your staff good enough? Michael Bidwell, Monty Opport, Jonathan Ganon will compete in the NFC West based off the power of friendship. That’s what it’s going to be. Here we go. Sound off in the Please don’t dislike this video, by the way. Yeah. Sound off in the comments your thoughts as my co-host is reporting that Jonathan Ganon safe. He will continue on as it stands right now on November 17, 2025.
The Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon is reportedly safe beyond this disastrous 2025 NFL season. Why Cards owner Michael Bidwill is willing to give J.G. another season in the desert.

What dose this do for the kyler situation dose this means we keep kyler love kyler but want that wide open passing games that means drew and kyler may have to go we need to tank hard and get our Line fixed flyer in the second
Ah yes the power of friendship is how you win games in the NFL!!
lmao no of course not
awesome then they lose next year too
lm happy l m a fan of another team so good luck
go pack go
Injuries are unreal this season and play calling has been single digit IQ type calls.
Coaches need some time especially when they inherited the QB and that QB is struggling. Who is Arizona gonna replace him with? You have to be realistic.
I am just tired of rooting for this franchise year after year……..If you lose this many years, for decades, it is the ownership.
I want a vet coach with post season experience
OC, O line Coach and DC gotta go, Gannon needs to be the one calling defense like Mike Macdonald. Monti needs to draft o line and Jonah Coleman.
Of course they don't want to pay 3 HCs. Drew needs to go, a few weeks ago.
F**K!!!!
If you don’t believe in Gannon at 3-7, then we don’t you here when he goes 4-13 next year😤
I must say Arizona has the worst fans in the NFL. I get that the Cardinals are one of the worst franchises in the league. But constantly selling your tickets to opposing fans shows absolutely no pride in your community, city or state. It's the very definition of "fair weather" and it's shameful. It's part of the reason I'm still a fan even though I live in Philly. I always come back to what #40 would do? And he was the most loyal person I've ever seen.
Bo looks so over this haha. I don’t think I can do another year of JG either.
Sounds like he’s only getting fired if they lose out and continue to get embarrassed. Luckily that’s the most likely scenario, so bring on the pain baby! We suck!
Umm Keim brought the best seasons with BA and he drafted McBride. He ended poorly but don’t ignore his successes
So just doing some research. Coach Wilks went 3-13 got fired after one season. Coach Kingsbury on his third year made the playoffs at 11-6 then got fired after the next season with a 4-13 win rate. Coach Gannon is so far each year improving his win rate. This year he isn’t even close to last years 8-9. I’d guess if he goes less than that then he needs to worry but we still got lots of football left and I hope he can turn the season around.
Bidwell should sell the team to the Saudis
He should’ve been fired.
We just need a new OC and OL coach. Gannon is fine, he isn't doing anything wrong besides not firing Petzing
So yet another lost season in AZ, been here since 1998 and I can literally count one on hand (ok plus 1 finger from another) the # of times the AZ cards have made the playoffs. 1988-2025 = 38 seasons, 6 playoff appearances. Disgusting. They better get it right – they play in BY MILES the best division in the NFL and maybe even in pro sports – all these team have great ownership, won super bowls before, and have and excellent young head coaches.
This is terrible news.
We suck big ones 🤪 as always
If Monte and Gannon are not fired at the end of the season I think there's going to be a riot
There is no light at the end of this tunnel!! Ticket sales are up in this 2025 season!! The poor performance from players and the coaching staff will have a huge impact on sales next season if changes are not implemented!!
Should be no surprise to anyone there will be no changes to a perennially losing franchise. The real tragedy is that there’s no other NFL team based in AZ to cheer for so you’re stuck with it like it or not.
49ers fan here. Im not here to gloat or talk smack. This video popped up on my for you page, and I'm genuinely curious. Why did Az pick Murray over Bosa in 2019?
This is disappointing news and makes no sense, it screams lack of accountability and general acceptance of mediocrity from the coaching staff…players aren’t responding, JG’s “culture” just set a franchise record for penalties, absolutely unacceptable.
🤮
