This was INEVITABLE…
This was inevitable as an NHL insider has just dropped a massive Leafs trade report. And in what has been a disastrous season thus far, a new trade update has dropped revealing some very interesting information surrounding the future of a couple of players that no one expected. We’ll break that down as well as a ton of other updates, including a tidbit from Elliot Freeman on Craig Buru’s job security following what has been a wild past few days and even past few weeks of speculation about him being fired. Ton to go over on this episode, folks. Before we get into it, Darius, the Leafs are moving fast. They made more moves today. Darius, a lot to go over today. And the Leafs made an insurance move earlier today getting another forward and Jacob Quillin, but we’re going to be diving into some new trade talks that have emerged here. And there’s a lot of things to go over, but let’s start with the recent report from David Pyata. Now, there’s a lot of reports from today in here. We’ve got some new stuff. There’s one from Elliot Freeman that we uh are starting to learn a lot more information about. We briefly covered in yesterday’s video and there’s just a ton of information. Stay tuned till the end of the video. But let’s start with the David Pinata report. He said that the Leafs need more cap space if they’re going to make an impact type of move, which is why Doy and Carlos names are out there. They’re going to have to get a little bit creative. So, these are the two guys we’re going to be focusing on today because at this point in time, we knew that they I mean, reports have come out they’re not willing to trade future draft capital, but they’re all they’ve also been looking for a puck mover on the back end. They’re trying to get a top six guy as well. There’s so much going on right now, but there is the futures of Carlo and Doy are clearly up in the air. Those are the two guys they’ve been shopping. If you’ve been following the channel for a while, Elliot Freeman for weeks now, months into the off seasonason, dating back ever since they acquired him really have been shopping Brandon Carlo in at least talking about shopping him in the right package. And we have another report we’ll dive into in a minute here. What are your thoughts on this? It seems like if any trade is going to happen, they’re keeping Cow and they’re keeping their prospects, but it would be player for player moves. And I also can’t really see them trading Nick Robertson at this point. He’s been one of their best forwards. And why would you do that? And what are you going to get back in return at this point? And obviously Elliot Friedman was talking about it. We’ll get to that in a second on Nick Robertson specifically, but to get to these two players, it would free up $8 million in cap space if they were to move both of them. But they both carry pretty significant cap hits for what they are at this point. And hindsight is obviously 2020 in any scenario. But looking back at the Brandon Carlo trade, they acquired him and it was like, yeah, Fraser Mitten going the other way in a first. Like that’s tough, but we’re trying to win a Stanley Cup. This guy’s 7 feet tall. He’s 500 lb. All of these things. He’s going to throw guys through the boards. This is awesome. But now you come to this season and remember through the offseason we were covering it. There were rumors and reports out there that they were shopping him and I think that they are actually trying to get JJ Purka because Buffalo wanted a right shot defenseman and not necessarily a good or a young one just a guy who shoots right who happens to be big. That’s kind of what their you know wish list was at that point. So there was a lot of rumors there and I think that’s what Brad Shiving was trying to do but ultimately they you know he ended up going to Utah. There was a better package and they got Michael Kessering instead. Now, I think that they’re still actively, you know, seeing what’s out there for Carlo, but I think his worth is dropping by the game at this point. You can see this in terms of his entire career. And this was a great find on Twitter that I saw this morning. Terms of his career, he’s hitting the least right now in his entire career. He’s not even hitting two. He’s not even getting two hits a game right now this season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. That’s why he was brought in. And when you look back at last year’s playoffs, when you look at this year, right, and we were talking about it through the summer, and of course, you want to be optimistic, and I didn’t think it was that bad, but you saw these little things in his game and playing with Morgan Riley where you’re like, they don’t really look that good defensively. What’s going on with that? So, that’s a little worrisome as well. And it’s kind of bled over into this season as well. Now, he’s not even hitting guys, right? Which is why he was brought in. And that goes back to this whole phenomenon. I don’t know what it is. certain guys coming into the Leafs and they forget how to play the way that they’ve made, you know, their career in the NHL. It’s the weirdest thing. I don’t understand. So, he hasn’t been doing that. They’re looking at him and we, you know, we’ll get into DOI in a second, too. Uh, he’s another guy that you look up and down the lineup at this point, he makes almost $4 million and you’re like, where does he fit in? They keep playing him at center. I don’t think he fits at center. Does he have an actual spot on this team? He’s been playing on the fourth line. Maybe they’re looking at shedding some cap for whatever at this point so they can go out and make another move. Yeah. And obviously you saw here, these were his hits with Boston. And then now with Toronto, it’s down to 1.680. He had a pretty good year last year hit-wise in the half season with the team. But you pair this with the new report from Freeman saying that Elliot or sorry saying that roster for roster moves would be the ones to look out for. And he mentioned some players about Brandon Carlo, Max Doi being one of the key ones. Of course, Joshua, Yarn Crook, Ben Juan Lton, and Myers and Blaze should be waved. No room for bombs. Obviously, they have had a bad year. It’s been unfortunate, but at this point, like we know how good the Brennan Carl can be. We saw it in Boston, but at the same time, this leaf team does need to shuffle things. And Max Doi on the other hand as well, like I could see them moving off of him, but it’s been bad. Like this has been a again, these are all different advanced analytic metrics. This one’s from Money Pucks or Money Puck, at least the info is, the input data. You get there at the bottom list. Shout out to Money Puck for that. But he’s been really bad this year. There’s no other way about it. But it hasn’t just been him. It’s been many of the defenseman though. Mike Morgan Riley’s having a great offensive year. It’s a bad time to trade him. You got him because you’re thinking, “Okay, we have a controllable young, fairly young, like 27 at the time, now or 28 at the time, whatever it was. Now he’s entering his prime supposedly has fallen off in the physicality department. The whole reason you got him was to provide some insurance and kind of a stay-at-home defenseman for Morgan Riley so he can go be an offensive beast. That part is working, but he hasn’t been great defensively and uh it’s been rough on that end.” Yeah, definitely. and he has this year and next year left on the deal. And it’s so funny because when he was acquired, we’re talking about all the things we’re talking about right now as positives, as good things. We were like, this makes sense for where the team is at. You’re adding a solid. And I remember watching that series against the Bruins in 2024 and I was like, man, if the Leafs had a defenseman like Carlo and then they ended up getting him the next year and I was so excited about it and I don’t know if he’s necessarily the problem, but I think at this point they’re looking at the whole roster and they’re like, we need some flexibility and we need to do something cuz clearly it’s not working. But like Elliot Freeman was alluding to, it has to be roster for roster at this point. You cannot trade Ben Danford or Eastston Cowan. You’ll be in a much worse situation if you were to do that. You can’t do it. The Leafs have no interest in doing it, which is what Freriedman said on Saturday. So, thank goodness for that. It sounds like True Living doesn’t view that as an option. So, it’s going to have to be roster for roster. And it could be a couple guys. You see the list here. I would even throw Nick Robertson in there. And I love Nick Robertson, and I always have on the channel. I’ve always defended him. I think that he’s a great player. If he went somewhere else, he probably scored 30 goals. He’s finally getting his opportunity in the top six, and he’s scoring quite a bit this year. Go figure. So, uh, he’s been really good. But I would even throw him in there in terms of just shaking things up cuz that’s where we’re headed at this point. If they lose the next couple games, you’re headed for territory where you have to do something. They’re going to make some type of panic move just to shake things up in the room. So again, I, you know, I said it in a previous video, I like the fact that they’re going through all this adversity and they’re at least talking about this stuff in October versus like April because that would be much worse, I think, if they were, you know, you could clearly see that the team just didn’t have it and, you know, you’re past the trade deadline and stuff like that. But I think they’re looking at things right now where they’re like, we need some flexibility to go out and make some moves and it could come from Brandon Carlo or Max Doi who’s another name who’s been brought up and like I mentioned, you know, he’s been on the this stat is insane from Kevin Pepetti so far this year. I mean, when you’re comparing last year to this year, feel free to pause if you want to read it, but this one’s insane to me. He has not been good this year. And Max Doi is a tricky situation. He comes up with these huge moments in the playoffs where he scores an overtime win. He scores a couple goals in the playoffs and you’re like, “This guy is built for moments like this and that’s why you want him on the team.” But then in a regular season, you’re like, where does he fit on the team? He’s not even playing wing where he should. He makes almost $4 million, right? And you battle those things, I think, as a fan. So, it’s interesting. But, um, I think they’re looking at the whole lineup right now and they’re like, who can we shed? And it might be these two guys. Yeah. I mean, Maxi, you saw him in the playoffs couple of series there. Obviously, Panthers, especially, it’s going to be to see what happens. Either way, we’ll keep you up to date. And one quick note on Burub’s future, like we mentioned, he said that his job is safe for now. He doesn’t see a firing happen, but definitely something to keep an eye out on. And I think that kind of goes to show what we’re saying today. Players, that’s what’s going to be changed first. And then beyond that, we’ll see what happens with the coaches, which is usually the opposite. But at this point, you can’t go through, at least you hope you can’t, they can’t go through another coach. That’ll wrap it up. Thank you guys for watching. See you later.

Carlo has concussion issues. That’s why he plays so soft all of a sudden. Domi is still riding his father’s popularity.
He had one good game as a leaf. Hope he has better luck on another club.
(Domi)
Carlo was the reason we lost game 7 vs Florida. He was -4. He stunk, I didn’t even like him with Boston. He stinks, too soft, gives puck away multiple times every game. Domi is brain dead. Domi gets the stupidest penalties at the wrong times. Vs Boston, we are just gaining momentum and he takes a stupid penalty. Get rid of both of them. Anchors!!! Carlo never does anything in the slot, stands beside his opponent’s. Terrible trade last year, gave up too much. Jarnkrok is better than Domi, when he’s healthy. Domi Carlo and Benoit are expendable
After 25/games look at the team again.
You dont build a team, with cast offs from other teams… just like you dont build a great country with migrants refugees.
Trade mathews now. Too soft, uninspired and not a leader. Trade domi and tanev.
1967, it will be another 50 years before Loafs ever win a cup.
The insanity is allowing the guy who is destroying the Hockey Club, to be the one responsible for making it better. Indeed, Berubé will be fired…will Trey Living find the replacement?! Who is making Trey ACCOUNTABLE? Oh he will fire the guy he hired, Berubé…does that absolve him of bad moves? Who is Coaching in New Jersey and how is he doing…he was pushed out of Toronto. Something has to change and think it includes the culture. WINNING should be the only goal…merchandise sales will happen regardless and rear ends will always fill the seats the Seats. The notion of team and 20+ guys all willing to do what ever it takes to win acChampionship is NOT what I have seen in Toronto in a very a long time. Country Club atmosphere is fine but in small doses at the right time. It is time for a change.,
Wow🤦
Everyone in here crying about the Carlo trade…
No one's talking about the Scott Laughton trade.
We gave up a first and a prospect for a fourth line guy.
Carlo is not the problem, machelli, Dakota, jarnkrok, should get traded
Why don't you guys just focus on the future, your guys days is over and no need to spend on guys that won't show up for you guys. Atp you guys are going to keep giving big amounts for guys that are 4th liners and 3rd pair bums. Your good days are over, just focus on retooling or maybe start rebuilding.
Clearly Carlo doesn't want to be here and immidiately asked to he traded when we got him.
Freedman the gossip Queen. Never gets anything right. Why do you guys keep spreading his bull.
Carlo, domi, maccelli, joshua, jarnkrok n laughton..def not Robertson like jesus, yeah where did shaking things up with marner? Lol..so the fact ur sayinv to trade away one of the best young players we have in Robertson is absolutely a joke, n if trevling trades him im done, this guy has fucked us for the present n the future period! An all u who were saying how great he was at the deadline n letting marner go, ur all idiots
Blow the shit up,now.
are the rash of injuries related to style of play or just bad luck i'm putting it down to players trying to do to much playing outside they're element and flat out just not in good enough physical condition to play a hard game , i agreed berube needed to bring a more physical more defensive dimension to this team but the guys treliving brought in are to slow to play at the pace of today's game 6 regulars out of the lineup is insane time to bubble wrap them all , i'm not moving carlo trade domi
The team, as it is, is good enough on paper. Address the chemistry problem (too much line juggling). Stop trading away the future.
Carlo is not playing the same as he did with the Bruins. He looked out of shape coming into camp, I saw him next to McMann who was ripped and Carlo looked like just another dude
Morgan Riley sucks. He has to go. He’s costing a lot of fucking goals. It’s been like this for a few good years now.
Once again I represent the New York Rangers fan base and we are prepared to offer you 2 number 1 picks and number 1 prospectGabe Perrault For Willy .
We're talking about trading Robertson, who's doing great. I disagree.
I'm sorry, but where is Matthews (when on the ice…)?
Every post is "massive" BS!!
I have to laugh at concerns over moving Domi out. He has been one of the most useless players in the league. And 7 previous teams he has been on found that to be true.
For years now, the Leafs have no idea how to throw body checks, and it rubbed off on Carlo, Treliving has no idea how to change incompetent DNA, the culture stinks.
You know what time it is?
It is time to fire the GM, and the coaching staff.
They are the ones that got the Leafs into this situation, and do you trust them to get the Leafs out of it?
I thought the new CEO said he was going to be more hands on?
Well, then get your hands dirt, and stop letting the Leafs being the laughing stock of the league.
We should sign Ron Jeremy
We can watch him score any time
Too bad video stores went out of business
Can you take a hint ?
From trade rumors and sports insiders that 5 teams are open for business they are Blues, Sabers, sharks,Predators,Blackhawks and all teams are linked to leafs
The Bruins took Treliving to the cleaners. Domi is a big disappointment. The one question that Leafs fans are not asking is; who in the heck are the scouts for the Leafs? Every one of them should be fired.
Domi is a Swiss army knife of this team!
Joshua is chasing game and doesn’t hit like Patches, and basically that’s who he replaced.
Reilly needs to go in a trade .
Treliving traded 2 1sts, grebenkin and minten for an aging defenseman who is not the least bit physical and was made to look like a pylon in these past playoffs. Plus and centre who is basically a 3rd line center who can't stay healthy enough to make any impact unless its in the preseason. How Treliving isnt fired is beyond me.
Yeah carlo n domi is a joke
Still waiting for the truculent Leafs to appear.
Carlo costed 2x 1st's (Minten & pick), Timmins and Dewar..
Leafs need $15 Million for him..
LOL.
Carlo ($3.5M) trade = Timmins ($1.1M) & Dewar ($1M) to Penguins….. and Minten ($900K) & 1st pk to Bruins..
How else did Leafs get Carlo, when already capped out?
This was 6+mths ago.
PuckPedia and I never lie. Get it right.
NHL Fantasy ratings:
Timmins > Carlo
🙂
…and Treliving also threw away Dewar, Minten and a 1st pk on top of Timmins, for Carlo..
LOL.
Good thing Leafs have Quillan, so Minten loss won't be noticed..
I'm a Hawks fan . Please trade Robertson out of that fiasco franchise to the Hawks .
Domi is dressing room poison. How many teams has he been on . Send him to Cincinnati.
Don't you people in Canada get sick of Friedman. He's a weasel just like his buddy the Rodent Maclean
LEAF FANS please stop.! Please remember 7 starters out of lineup management taking time to see who stands out lets see what they do with full lineup. Decafe please
Tank, bottom 5, keep pick. Trade everyone you can at TD then move Mathews. They only have one reality. They aren't good enough.
I don't get giving up on Domi? He's one of the few who shows some intensity.
Why don't the leafs trade Matthew's and Nylander in package for prospects. Like we get every pick from Montreal the last three years for them plus Carlo and Domi eh.
