Trey Yesavage, JJ Wetherholt, Bubba Chandler and 2026 Rookie of the Year candidates! 👀

Let’s see what Treya Savage has in store for everybody here in his major league debut. Comes right back with it and he strikes out loud on three pitches. Tyler Hindaman asked for the baseball. He’s going to have it authenticated because that’s the first big league strikeout for Trey Savage. A special moment for him and hopefully the first of many. And here’s Treya Savage. Treya Savage did not have his split finger. That pitch is as good as it gets. G Savage home with an 02 and he strikes him out finishing off a one two three first inning. Eight pitched to his boy has swung on and missed. He finished him with a splitter. Well, this splitter has such great late action in the strike zone and he’s used it to get three consecutive strikeouts. Retired in the first five in game five. And he’s using everything perfectly balanced. Eight fast balls, eight splitters, seven sliders. Swinging a miss from Tommy Edmond. strikes out the side in the second. Really good so far. He strikes out Muny with a slider to the knees and it’s five in a row. A two two to Otani is swung out and miss. Swings himself out of his helmet on a disappearing splitter. That is eight strikeouts for Trey Savage. Swing and a miss for strike three. Got him with a splitter and has nine in game five of the World Series. 3-2. Paul chases what would have been ball four and Treya Savage has 10 strikeouts. A swing and a miss and an 11 strikeout for Treya Savage. He is now tied Smokeoky Joe Wood for the most strikeouts in a World Series game for a pitcher 22 or younger. One, two to Freeman. There’s a dozen for Trey Savage. Chapter of third, Clement second, over the first double play. A World Series masterpiece from 22y old Trey Yavage. 12 strikeouts in game five of the World Series and he holds the defending champions to just a run over seven innings. He’s never going to forget that game and neither are the the fans of the Toronto Blue Jays. And his manager, to your point, showed what he had learned. That right there says it all. Well, this would be a good spot for the big guy’s first Camden Yards home run. Fly ball deep right field. Hernandez headed back. Track wall. Samuel Bisayio walkoff home run. You want a great way to get your first home run in Oriel Park. Samuel Basio says make it a walk-on. There’s your one good swing. Second big league home run and first walk-off bomb for the kid Samuel Visio as the 1-1 on McGonagal. This one hammered deep right. Touch them all time. Kevin McGonagal. That’s number seven on the year. He absolutely crushed that ball. He’s something else. I Sam that cleared the building in right off the Red Birds ball game last night with a home run. gives that one a ride deep to right center field. He does it again. Backto back nights. JJ Weatherhold leads off the Redbirds first with a homer. That’s his third ata this season. Leads off this third inning with a big fly out to right center field. It’s toward the bullpen and he leaves the yard again. The first pitch of the third inning is his third home run in two ball games. Onto a big league mound for the first time. The top pitching prospect in Major League Baseball. 22-year-old Bubba Chandler. Struck him out with a 100. His first out, his first strike out in the big leagues 100 miles an hour. And again, no Pirates pitcher has ever earned a save at his major league debut. to the fly ball shallow diving catch fam and two outs. Fly ball center field and raise the Jolly Roger. First Pirate ever to record a save in his major league debut. And what a debut it is. One is drilled out towards left center field. It’s back. It’s gone. Oh, and Casey first major league homer out to left center field and the Cubs lead 64. Mighty Casey has delivered. Man, what a smooth swing that was. Big strong kid. Little flick of the wrist. Cubs looking for a spark. And Owen Casey has delivered. 24y old Nolan Mlan. Mom and dad are here. Oh, that is so cool. Taking in the moment. Absolutely. And that slider in for a call strike three. And Mlan showing off his wares. Strikes out the first battery he faces in the major leagues. Get that ball to the authenticator. Struck in half. Got him with a curveball. Nolan Mlan with two strikeouts in his first big league inning. Impressive start on the inside corner. Got him looking at a change up. First time we’ve seen that pitch. And Mlan has his third strike out. Rosarena down on strikes for the second time. Went upstairs with the fast ball. That’s the fourth strike out for Mlan in the first down in the inning. He’s got a good fast ball. Ground ball backhanded by Mlan out at second. Batty to first for a double play. How did he do that? Brilliantly done by the rookie right-hander and he can’t help cracking a smile and a swing and a miss. Got him with a curveball. Strike out number five for Nolan Mlan. And he strikes out Palanco on a curve ball to end the inning. It’s just one of those things since he’s a kid, I bet you he’s had a good curve ball. And he struck him out. Back foot curve ball. Strike out number seven for Nolan Mlan. One, two coming. Tried to dot the outside corner and got it there for strike three. Beautiful pitch number eight for Mlan. Well, you hear the booze because Carlos Mendoza is coming out to take Nolan Mlan out of the game after five and a third innings and 91 pitches. A brilliant opening effort by the 24y old from North Carolina. Sock to center by South Stewart. Steep retreat from Mullins. Gone. The first big leap bomb for South Stewart. And he’s showing the fire round to the bases. The Red’s number one prospect goes straight away. Big time fly. First home run of the big leings. First extra base hit in the big leagues. First ribbies in the big leagues. Family’s been in town the whole home stand. Loving it.

  1. McLean and Yesavage are both nasty but in such different ways. McLean out here playing the XGame while casually pulling out 3000 rpm curveballs and Yesavage has splitters coming from the sky and sliders moving the wrong way. Crazy bright futures for the two of em.

  2. If we could include the Post-Season in this equation, Yesavage has huge arguments for himself by leaps and miles.

Game 2 of the DS, Game 6 of the CS and Game 5 of the WS are basically him in top form.

  3. My vote is for Trey Yesavage. What he did to the Yankees and Dodgers in the post season of 2025 will be the stuff of legend down the road as well as a new MLB record for rookie strikeouts in the World Series. What a remarkable debut for a 22 year old rookie that started the year in A-ball!
