The Spurs just made a MAJOR statement…
The San Antonio Spurs and De’arren Fox just sent a major statement to the NBA as Victor Webbyama sits out this game. It’s the newly acquired Fox from last season who absolutely went off to silence all doubters. But it wasn’t just him as Harrison Barnes, Devin Vel, and a whole lot of other Spurs chipped in to send a message that even with your star player out and with all the doubters around this team, these guys can still get it done. Taking a look at the box score, there’s so many places we can start. But I’m actually going to start off of not even here on the box score as there was a report today that Dylan Harper is out of a walking boot and he will start ramping up oncourt activity soon. So if you thought things were getting good after this game, they just get even better. So keep an eye out for that. And my boy right here, Dylan Harper. Oh, he’s going to be back soon. By the way, link to this hoodie in the description. You guys get 10% off just for watching. Let’s get right back. And again, looking at this box score, there’s so many places I can start, but I want to start with a guy who started in place of Victor Webbyama, and that is Luke Cornet. And Harrison Barnes said that Cornet is the most consistent player on the roster. Team knows what they’ll get when he’s on the floor. And I completely completely agree. Luke Cornet has been absolutely unbelievable, putting up another perfect shooting night, five for five. That’s his fourth perfect shooting night since returning in the month of November. I I think now I think coming into this game he was averaging 10 points a game in November on 93% shooting. That’s only gone up with an a stellar stellar stellar performance tonight. Seven defensive boards, four offensive boards, 11 total rebounds. What a great game from Luke Cornet. By the way, I don’t know if it’s just me, but this ESPN box where they’re switching things around. The points are now at the front. They used to be at the end, the minutes are now at the end. That’s tripping me up for a little bit, but the 11 rebounds on five for five shooting from Luke Cornet. I would agree. I think he is the most consistent cuz when he’s out there we’re seeing these lobs thrown to him not as many tonight but still I he was so so good both ends of the floor even though he was kind of unplayable versus Golden State which does suck and we’ll have to see how that affects playoffs down the line for San Antonio just because him and WBY couldn’t really run the French vanilla twin tower combo when Steph Curry exists he just has the Spurs number anyway tonight was a great night for Lu Cornet because the Kings you know they got Sabonis they got some big guys they’re trying to bang down low and he’s not going to let them so I had to highlight Luke to start off of this video because I thought I think he has been unreal. And I also want to highlight Jeremy Sohan who again in the absence of Webinama him and even Oolen got a bit more run. Oolen with a nice little finish too at the rim. He knocked down a three but Sohan with nine points, five boards, two assists on perfect shooting at the half. The three-point stroke is coming and honestly like he was just really solid across the board. He only finished the game with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, two turnovers. Why is turnover before steal a block now in the box score? Did I get a bit of a glitchy box score? I don’t even know. But unreal stuff from Jeremy Soan. But again, it goes even deeper. And I want to just look at at not this guy, this guy right here, big body Kell Johnson. I feel like he’s getting two or three or four offensive rebounds every single night. So again, before I dive into the stars like Fox, like Harrison Barnes that were going to Hey, weird to say Harrison Barnes is a star, but these guys who really drove the performance, I got to shout out again a guy like Kelvin Johnson because again, if you want to be the Spurs and you want to send a message, you need to make do on your shots. Skeleton was 0 for four from three. He had one shot jump shot with his toe on the line. So that really kind of was a three from distance, but again, 12 rebounds, two offensive rebounds. The Spurs were they had nine offensive rebounds tonight. made do on a lot of the made good on those buckets. Kellen from two he was a perfect seven for seven and that includes at least one jumper, right? So he was so good. Even Champenny knocking down this three ball when he needed to. So knocking down the three ball when they needed to. The Spurs are unbelievable by the way. Our record is crazy when we knock down the three like we need to. And Harrison Barnes Mr. 100% was a great example of that and you’ll see one of his shots here in this highlight video. He has really stepped up. He’s had a he had a kind of rough start to the season and I don’t know why a lot of Spurs fans this year have been pretty reactionary. Like it’s understandable when you have WBY you want to make the most of everything you have. But Harrison Burns even though he had a rough start to the season like he has been on fire lately. Another 20point night. An efficient shooting night. Three for six from three, seven for 11 from the field, including a nice little runner in the lane when the Spurs were down to a single digit lead late in this game. It was a great performance from him. Plus 16. There were only a couple Spurs that were negatives and one was Stefan Castle who did leave with an injury. I didn’t see the injury. Maybe you guys did. Um but you know regardless I’m also noticing the base right down here is glitchy. This is getting fixed soon. Utah white, Utah blue. I don’t know what’s going on there. Uh summer league stuff crazy. But anyway, right now the Spurs are just absolutely rolling here. And Carter Bryant even seven minutes tonight. There were so many good performances. But Vel being six for 14 from the field with a statement jam was great. But let’s get into the big big talk here and that’s De’arren Fox. And I saw some jokes like, “All right, look, Fox has shown enough. We won the game without Wemby. I just think we got to trade WemBY.” I mean, I think you guys must agree, right? Like when he was not a factor in today’s game. He was hurt, so I think we should trade him and build around this Fox guy. Look, I’m not saying that the the trade Fox crowd was like, you know, completely unjustified. I don’t agree with them. But like, come on. I mean, this is what we got D’Arren Fox for. 28-1. When We Wy is out again. This is a revenge game for him and Harrison Barnes really playing against their former team that is struggling without him. Mind you, Fox put on a show. He did exactly what we expected him to do. And with Castle going out, the ball was in Fox’s hands more. And guess what? We saw what he can do as the primary ball handler. And even with Steph Castle in the lineup, I’m sure that was difficult for Castle and Fox together to navigate when they were there because Castle was kind of playing that primary playmaker role. even tonight in just his limited 16 minutes. Castle had four points, five assists, but De’Arren Fox when he had to take that over. Shout out to Dev Dev’s seven assists. Really good. When Fox took over those ball handling roles, he put up those 11 assists with just two turnovers. 35 minutes, a plus 20 to lead the team. 28 points, 11 for 20 from the field. He knocked down some threes. We’re seeing what the De’Arren Fox that we were promised in this trade, what he is capable of. And I understand that with Wemby the games haven’t been as good, but that’s the thing. It’s really just the chemistry with Victor Webeyama. And we see what Fox is able to do when he is given the chance to cook. Is it going to be like that every game? Not necessarily. But this dude was an allNBA guard for a reason, right? He was an all-star for a reason. Now, the only the only issue is to get his chemistry with Stefon Castle when they’re both in the back court, both trying to be playmakers. Figure out how that will work in the longer term. and they have lots of time to figure it out. But also how Fox and Webby can exist, coexist together because we do have that thing from uh what last week when agrees with Fox that the team had communication breakdowns. The team needs to stick to the game plan. Trust more in each other on the floor. And this is from last week. I think after one of the Warriors games, I think after the first Warriors game, if not, it was the game before that. But this is something that, you know, it’s known by the team. And so that’s just going to come with time. Of course, WBY out with the left calf tightness, which I also have. So I’m really just like Webby for real. I’m just like Webby. I am Victor Webbyama. I’m just not 77 or that good at basketball or you know a superstar. I’m not French either. I Well, listen, it doesn’t matter. So when De’Arren Fox and Victor Webinama have a bit more time to work together, more than just what still less than 10 games, right? I think it’s less than 10 games that they’ve played together total from last year to this year. I might be wrong, but it’s at least close to that. when they have the time to really show what they’re capable of together, this team will hit another level. And this is a statement game. I know it’s a Kings team that is struggling this year. But to go out there and do what you did to to win the three-point shooting battle, which has helped San Antonio win so many games, get all these offensive rebounds, have your superstar point guard, play like a superstar, and even with Steph Castle getting hurt, you still have a comfortable win. That is what teams should be afraid of. If you can do that without winyama, without Dylan Harper, without Steph Castle, that is the kind of team that can go really far when you get that great production from everyone in the lineup. And to me, it’s a big statement that the Spurs just made and I’m excited to see how we build off that back in the win column, baby. 78 and four is on the menu. Thank you for watching every single day. Make sure you made it to the end of the video. Click the subscribe button because statistically still like 60% of you haven’t done it. I’m your host, Josh Goss. I’m so excited. I’ll catch you on the next one.
The San Antonio Spurs show out against the Sacramento Kings with production across the board from Fox to Keldon to Barnes and more. This is a huge statement game with Wembanyama out and it’s perfect to build upon. Josh Gosse breaks it all down on this episode of Spurs Digest.

I was there today….ELECTRIC šā”ļø
is there any news about vic and stephon injury are they ok? will they be back the next game againsts the grizzlies
Having Kornet, Kelly or even Sochan gives them flexibility depending on the matchups. On Mitch to relay that before the games
Olynyk had 8 assists in 18 minutes.šÆ
Itās the kings dawg. Im not over the other day
U dumb the king are a stupid team
Naw beating warriors back to back would had made a big statement. This win is not that impressive. Spurs supposed to beat the kings they are trash šļø
Luke Kornet is awesome, let's start him and bench Wemby.
Fox 6
Wemby 5
Castle 2
Harper 1
It is the Kings, a lot of teams have already made a statement
Ooof, Fox did not "silence all doubters" after completely collapsing when we needed him to just play average at the end of the 4th on Friday. He was solely responsible for that loss. Even if he took all those hero ball attempts and didn't make the boneheaded foul, we would have still won.
SHORT MEMORIES: Fans now treat Spurs like TikTok videos — 15 seconds of obsession then on to the next clickbait. Fox was soooo terrible for missing a couple of shots at the end of the last Warriors game; now he's clearly worth the money because he was solid tonight. Here's a suggestion: start looking at stats, over many games, to assess a player. Fox is a polished elite guard and reliable finisher: his record proves it. Overall the Spurs looked just like their stats say they should tonight — and beat down a poor team as expected, without needing Castle to do it. No surprises.
I disagree. Its Castle Go Spurs Go
No statement made.. sorry i don't agree.
I love your quick responses after these games. Keep up the good work.
Not to be a pessimist but we had nothing to gain from this game but everything to lose – so Iām glad we did not lose, but personally Iām not going to draw any significant conclusions about the team from this game.
might want to check your hype. It's the Kings. That entire franchise dont know what it's doing. š The Pels and the Kings are two teams you should not be losing too. Fox scored that much because there was no defense.
There's a communication break down because Fox seems to think he is the #1 option.
Great work Joshā¦! We needed the win and the āworker beesā came up with a win!
i was at this game earlier, deaaron fox was electric at the 3 late in the game!
Yea. Yāall doing to much. You just lost a viewer.
I love KJ, but he shouldnāt be shooting 3ās
I love KJ, but he shouldnāt be shooting 3ās
The only thing I really liked about this game was that Sochan got more minutes.
Play the damn guy… let him grow into his position!
Idc what he didā¦it the decision making when Wemby is on the floor for meā¦until I see him fix that
fire mitch
Dude, read the room. Many still don't get over with games against warrior. Like they gotta do something with their defence flow, not only relying on wemby again covering literally the whole court for defence
The Pop-Buford glory days are over for the Spurs. No second dynasty as long as they have a limp-wristed coach. Bad hiring by hypocrite Pop who wanted to preserve his legacy. Selfish Pop did not want to share Wemby with Mike Malone or Monty Williams.
It wasn't much of a statement, game was still quite close and HB had to stop the Kings comeback in the 4Q again. Team need to learn how to keep the lead
Devin Vassell was still pretty bad lol 0-4 for a starting wing is awful
But he can't throw a lob pass to Vic to close out Golden State? Stop it bro.
They beat the kings, you are overreacting!
Who else is looking forward to Christmasā¦. Spurs vs OkC
I hope Harper comes back soonā¤š
Castle should be the main ball handler when Wemby is on the court
Barnes is indeed a star! So consistent, never injured, playing every game, high percentages and humble!
When Fox and Wemby figure out their alley-oop situation, it's genuinely over for the NBA.
