[Aaronson] Joel Embiid still has right knee soreness and doctors think he needs a bit more time but is progressing, the Sixers say. He remains day-to-day.

  1. This sounds like he is not playing tomorrow.

But seeing nothing about PG is a plus.

Edit: to everyone reading this, please note the doctors are the ones making the call. This isn’t Joel being soft or not wanting to play. The medical staff seems to have full authority with almost no limits (see PG having to beg to play an extra 7 seconds against the bucks).

  2. > Sixers say Adem Bona will miss two games and then be re-evaluated again.

    > Kelly Oubre Jr. and Adem Bona were the only Sixers not to participate in practice today.

  3. So, same as every year before this, and every year from now until we get this albatross off our roster? Ok. Sigh

  4. At this point I’m honestly down to see what it looks like when Joel suits up in a wheelchair.

  5. I love Joel so much… but giving him that contract extension was just so unbelievably dumb. 3 more years after this one? $67,300,000 player option in 2028-29? Any stipulation that he can’t take that if he can’t play at all?

  6. How depressing must it be to know you are one of the very best at your craft in the world but your body won’t physically allow you to do it

  7. I feel like we’re heading down the path of him eventually needing surgery on that knee as well.

  8. Maybe this is good for Joel. Played some ball and now gets to rest. You know that feeling when you don’t play basketball for awhile , get back to it and you are just garbage. Rest for a bit and then feel yourself better. Maybe it’s just me.

  9. I am just glad the medical team is being consistent with listening to doctors’ advice and not rushing Joel out.

  10. Embiid should retire. Dude has had numerous injuries and it’s clear he’ll never be fully healthy again. He’s a multimillionaire, husband and father.

For his sake and the long term good of the team I really hope he hangs it up. Love the guy and his career, but it’s time.
