The San Jose Sharks host the Ottawa Senators. Uh, can the Sharks keep the good times going? You’re Locked on Sharks, your daily podcast on the San Jose Sharks, part of the Locked On podcast network, your team every day. Hello, welcome to Locked on Sharks, the premier hockey podcast covering your favorite team in the Bay Area. My name is JD Young, caretaker at the Reef, also the co-host of Locked On NHL. I want to thank you for making Locked on Sharks your first listen, proudly part of the Locked On, the number one sports podcast network out there. Uh and we will be uh breaking down the Sharks Sens game as we have a nice Eastern Conference uh rival coming in uh on a 4pm start here. So, hockey night in Canada game for the San Jose Sharks. So, uh we’re going to be looking at how these two teams match up. Uh get to know the sends, kind of look at some projected lines as there’s no morning skate this morning, uh and then what the Sharks need to do or what to watch for uh in this game. So, let’s get started by looking at how these two teams match up here. Uh these sends are 106 and four. Uh your Sharks 108 and three. Um 3.25 goals for per game for the Ottawa Senators. That is good for ninth in the NHL, but 3.35 goals allowed per game played 25th in the NHL. The Sharks offense is at 2.95 for 21st and 3.19 goals allowed 22nd. We’ve seen that goals allowed drop steadily over the last month or so. Um the power play for the Suns very good. 23.8% at 10th. The shark chart 18.1 which is good for 20th. Uh the PK um 69.1 31st the Sharks PK 79.41 18th. Uh Stell leads the team in goals. Bath in assists and points. And of course CBrini leads the Sharks in goals assist and points. Um the advanced hockey stats uh site that I normally use is down right now so we can’t pull up the fun card, but um this is a an Ottawa Senator offense that is very good at controlling the puck. Uh they’re one of the kind of top 10 teams in the league when it comes to shot attempts shots. Uh they’re very good at creating high danger chances. Like this is a very dangerous Ottawa Senters team. even without their captain Brady Kachchuck, they’ve still been able to find a way to con maintain a very dangerous offense. Um, and that’s a credit to their forward group, which is an extremely good group. But the goalending has has definitely been kind of the letdown for this team this year. Um both uh both their goalies uh negative goals saved above expected with Linus Mark at a minus 7.3 but has been playing a little bit better as of late. Um for the Lions projected Lions um Pon Sul Bathson at the top Eller Cousins and old friend Fabian Zetelin makes his return. Amado, Pinto, Jirro, Jiru, sorry, excuse me, on the third line. Cousins, Holiday, and Hodgson on the fourth, Sanderson, Zub, Sherbot, Spence, uh, Cleven, Jensen, and then Mark, I assume, is probably going to be starting this game. Uh, for the Sharks, we have a feeling these are going to be the lines, but we don’t know who the starting goalie is. Uh, Kersev, Celibbrini, Smith, Equin, Wenberg to Foley, Goddat, Dandria, Graph, uh, Gudro, Asapuk, and Reeves. So, no changes in the forward group here, but some changes on the blue line because uh it’s a day that ends with Y. Or Lil Jagrin, Ferraro, Clingberg, Mukuman, Deardise, Dickinson getting a development day with a backtoback here. Then we have uh I assume Nadulkovich starts today uh just because Ascarov’s gotten a little bit of of the run here lately with a backtoback. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nadulkovich gets the start today, but we shall see. um what to watch for in this game. Um one is the return of Fabian Settlein, right? And I fully expect him to get a nice uh round of applause and acknowledgement from the team. He was a beloved player in his short amount of time here. Um and still, you know, a lot of people questioning the the trade um of of Fabian Zutterland to the Ottawa Senators. We’re not going to relitigate that today, but I fully expect him to get a nice uh nice ovation from the Sharks crowd today. So, um but he like kind of what to watch for in this game. Um I want to see how this middle six does for the Sharks, right? Uh the third line was the big story for San Jose last game. Um I thought the second line, you know, was was a little quiet at times. Uh Wenberg had a couple penalties. I think the second line is going to be a huge huge part of this game. And if the Sharks are going to be able to to win this game, I think it’s going to have a lot to do with if the second line can not only create opportunities but take advantage of them and actually put them home. So the second line for me is a big big test. um you know that Wenberg Eklan to Foley uh you know with Eklan coming back I thought he’s played really really well um in his last few games from his injury uh but I like to see some production and I’m I’m really thinking Ekkan here uh this is a I think it’s going to be a big Equin game for him to try to kind of uh get back on track when it comes to the production uh for him. So, um, big big thing there. And then the power play in this game. You’re playing one of the worst PKs in the NHL. Um, when it comes to the Ottawa Senators, right, 31st in the NHL. Um, the power play has been ice cold as of late. Um, you know, like is just has not been a good group. Uh, we know John Clingberg is going to be back on the power play, etc., etc., But like if you can’t get it going against the Ottawa Senators, I think there’s going to be even more questions coming out of this game, especially if you get some opportunities. Uh because the like like you’re going to get some opportunities in this game, I have a feeling. But if if the power play looks like it did against the Kings where it’s just disjointed, unable to set things up, and if you’re doing that against the Sens, I think it’s just going to lead to more and more questions uh for this Sharks power play. So, the special teams in this game, I think, are going to be huge uh not only for the game, but I think just to kind of quell the like, you know, uh the the angry mob banging on the door for the power play to make some wholesome changes here. though. Um, but I do think for for San Jose, right? Uh, we we kind of know their formula is, you know, you’re probably going to get outplayed for stretches of this game and you’re going to need to take advantage of your opportunities and with players like CBrini and Smith, you’re going to have your like those guys are going to be able to kind of cash in on on some of the opportunities they get. So, um, if Nadulkovich, assuming Nadulkovich is in that, but this goes for Ascrov and Nelkovich, can you kind of quell those five to 10 minutes where just things aren’t going right for you? And we’ve seen it every game uh for it feels like for the Sharks, right? Can those guys be the best player and put the team on their back when they need it? Because this is a very potent offense and it comes at you in waves. You have a lot of different guys uh who can score for this Ottawa Senators team. So, uh, I think trying to minimize your your five minute mistakes that that we see from this team. Um, take advantage of opportunities and the power play are big, uh, for the Sharks. I like the way the Sharks are playing. I think they have the better goalender in this game, even if it’s Nadokovic or Askarov. I think the goalending has been outstanding, and I think the Sharks power play gets back on track in this game. So, uh, put me down for a power play goal in here. Uh, and I think the Sharks keep the good times going. Uh, give me a five to four nice really fun overtime. Uh, more overtime because the Sharks can only play overtimes games. So, five to four win in overtime. Uh, and power play goal. Uh, I think Toi gets off the Schneider today. I think we get a goal from Tofo. So, uh, we’ll break down this game tonight on your next episode of Locked on Sharks, uh, wherever you get podcasts. And of course, you can watch on YouTube as well. Follow me, um, and follow the show. Follow the show wherever you get podcasts. Uh, sorry, on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and on Tik Tok. Follow me on Twitter and Blue Sky Fryhole. Uh, until this afternoon, evening. Bye, friends.

What up JD
How do I get one of those Sharks anime posters without attending the game tonight? I'll even buy one! 😅
Kilnberg = 🗑️ get this guy a plane ticket already
Are we eating W’s tonight like Famous Jameis??
Also crazy that SJs PP is ranked that high up with how anemic it’s been all season. How are there 12 teams that are worse lol
Looking for Eklund to have a breakout game.
Love the random predictions. I got goodrow short handed goal
Really wish Muhk and Dickinson would be in there every game. Sometimes it looks like #6 is scared to make a mistake and get taken out of the lineup. Looks like he’s playing tentatively with that always hanging over his head.
