NHL Highlights | Blues vs. Islanders – November 22, 2025
Well, Matthew Schaefer was on the ice. He got the loudest ovation when he was announced in the starting lineup. He got a nice ovation when he headed off the ice after warm-ups. Everybody has appreciated what he has brought to the table for the first 21 games of his wanted Paul Mary. That puck went airborne. Grabbed by Broberg, fired through the middle of the ice and it’s Buch in for Shen. A shot. He scores on the first shot of the game in the first minute of the game. It’s Braden Shen and the Blues with a one- nothing lead. That was a terrific uh up ice play. I mean, it’s a quick threeon two in the in the pass all the way across. Didn’t work. And now the Islanders are are trapped, get beaten. Well, the interesting thing there too, Butch, is right before that face off, Patrick W and Bob Bner, they made a switch to get this D pair out cuz they think that’s the matchup. Well, you had Scott Mayfield down in and Horvette back, but the communication is the three guys back wasn’t quite there. And that leads to the oddman rush. Out on the ice, they give it away. Dylan Holloway who stole it. Worked its way to Tyler Tucker. That shot changed directions and a pad save from Sroken. Marzel trying to shake free of the rookie D’vorski. Said a phone booth there. I mean, tight turns. He’s going to tire you out even if he can’t lose you. That long range shot this time from the coming off a two-goal game in Philadelphia the other night as this is turned around. Threeon two, four on two. A shot from Horvat denied by Bennington. What a great step up by Ryan Pull on. Yeah, he’s read that thing. Hey, Blue’s caught in a change. Here’s Paul Mary. Missed it wide. Little friction from Tucker on the back check. Good aggressive move though by Ben. He came right out. He was allowed about two two and a half ft in front of his crease. Palms had to try and get a little bit more cute. Tucker on goal. That one was stopped by Sroen. Picked up Snugroot. Fed it to the front. Always. It’s Broberg sliding it. Pare shooting it. kept on goal just wide by Pew Sudter. I think Sroen got a piece of that. Yeah, Sudter was all alone in front. Stick stick on the ice. Islanders are fortunate to get away with that one. Look like a couple of times already there’s been some open men in front of the Islander goal. Sika steals it. Forced it along into the zone. Shabino and Richie Bennington came across. It was still loose. It was kicked off the goal line to go through. That’s all Sikas on the hunt. The two hottest guys, the two most confident guys. Watch the glove. And that thing stuck around for a little bit. Almost a second look there for Casey. Sometimes a little pep talk, a little communication goes a long ways. Here’s Ryan Pullock. Moves to the outside. Nothing there. Can’t quite shake free. Now he does with a drop for Pelic. Pel pumps, Wade, shoots. No traffic that time as everybody parted ways and let Bennington eighth best in the National Hockey League at almost 25% success rate. Blues go to work. They get it right to the net and Fowler shot stopped by Sroken. Oh, that was a mistake by the Islanders. Somebody missed an assignment there. That was too good an opportunity. Wide open look for Fowler. He’s got the puck again. Fowler down. D’Vorski only has three goals in his NHL career. They’ve all come on the power play. 54 in white. And D’vorski the number one first round pick should say for the Blues. Here’s Thomas. Goal line right in front. It’s Sroen. Denied him another one. Oh boy. Well, the Islanders start this second period with 57 seconds of power play time after JG Pio drew the holding call on Justin Faulk while the Blues were on a power play. Schaefer drifting moves to Barcel. Barcel the drag centers. Drew touched it off. Schaefer closing in. Kicks it over and Bennington swallows up the shot by Horn. Permeates through the group. Pio tried to feed that one all the way over. Deflected. D’Angelo wanted to get it to the front. Now Duclair. Duclair. D’Angelo on goal rebound digging for it. Anders late. Bennington fights it off. Kept it alive. They Patrick W met with the media this morning and said he didn’t really have an update on the status of Alex Romanov. Still being evaluated for the injury he suffered in Dallas. Still with it. Vquist over. Matthew Schaeer played it behind the net as the crowd gathered. The puck bounced back to Horman. Thrown to the net. He hid him and let it go through his skates. Interesting too. Both team USA and team Canada have an assistant coach that is not currently coaching in the NHL. So free to roam and travel and scout players as Broberg blasts one in on that. John Tortoella for team USA. Pete Dbor for team Canada. Both out of a job right now, but both will be representing their country on the bench in Milan. Well, they get back to this game, Brandon. A little sloppy right now. Not first period I thought was a little more exciting comments, a little more offense to the play, but then more of a Oh, a turned over here. Shen walking right in and another good save from Ilas Sroken. Case opened things up on the near side for Dru. Druadette in an area for Barcel. Barcel returns it. Drew step right on through Bad and ripped a shot off Bennington dipping and diving along the boards with Cal Richie on him. Kyu circling the goal. The play it to the top. Tucker. Kyu on the move. Snaps it. Blockered away by Sroken. Holloway able to get off the wall. Holloway shot. Not too many chances on either end of the ice as D’Angelo makes his way to the middle. Over one timer and Drewan shot off along the post. Fire around for Robert Thomas. Tucker. Thomas again turns and shoots. That one settles down into Anders Lee. And Fowler found it from him for Faulk. Riding the glass around the boards towards Pel. Shovel to the net. Skipped up off the ice and Bennington got it to Sometimes that’s all you’re trying to do is just create a little different look. There’s a look in front and a shot from Walker is in on Sroken and he’s able to hang on. That’s what Adam has been doing so much better. His support is good. Here’s Faulk with a look. Blocker saved Srogan and got the rebound away from that chaos in front. Holloway to the net. Rebound. They score. Cleaned up by Pew Sudter. And St. Louis got one early in the first. They’ve got one late in the second and they lead two nothing. They moved it around off the well that net and win the battle. And Pel trying this is the first attempt and a good good save. Good puck retrieval and again moving right out into the slot. Great great play there by Snerwood to get out there in a hurry and then aren’t able to cover up on in front. Tony’s on the outside. Needed to be on the inside position ideal if he can. Yeah. And I think for Tony probably not want to take away the eyes of his goalender, but it doesn’t change the fact he’d need that stick, but really want to give give him a reason to get up here. And one of the best crowds of the season. St. St. Louis scored on the very first shot of the game which kind of took a little bit of air out of the building to Dru. Jonathan Dru driving wide on Faulk. Dru got turned around still with the puck. Hit Shabov and a shot stopped by Bennington. Keeping everybody in front of him, not giving him any oddman rushes. Robert Thomas complaining for a call. Meanwhile, Anders Lee charges ahead. Save Bennington. I mean, watch him feather this thing in there. He’s buying time for Lee to catch up to it. saucer pass on it and maybe not Dylan Holloway. He’ll play again March 10th in St. Louis as Holloway comes in, drops to Kyu, saves Siroken. Somehow saves saves the day for him. Know if that’s just a bad change for for the Islanders as they’re going off the ice at the top of your left screen, but right down the middle and Sroken gets the glove on it and and makes that save. Twice in two shifts. Kyru’s had really good looks. That guy can let the puck go into the zone for Dru. Druan waits for Barcel. Barcel shamanov denied. What a save by Bennington. I thought the most remarkable part of this play would have been the fact that Shamanov could take that thing off the saucer path with sticks in front of it. But wow, he picked that thing clean. But so did Jordan Bennington. Yeah, he did. The only thing he could do is to sort of spread out a little bit, drop that left leg as far over as he could. Shabanov gets a whole lot. Great timing on his part. And that lands on his stick. Yeah, exactly right. And there’s there’s the save right there. And Schaefer lead to the front of the net. It’s Borval with the puck. Schaer wants it and gets it. Schaefer. Barcel kicked out. Rebound. They score. Not going away. It’s banged in by Anders Lee. 320 to go. 2-1 St. Louis. And the Islanders just move it around knowing full well they’ve got to get it to the net at some point in time. It’s a tough angle shot. And there’s Andrew Lee, but we’ve been talking about it. Get the puck to the net, right? Make something happen. There’s a rebound there for you. And Andrew Lee, his favorite position right in front of the crease area. Huge goal for the Islanders. Both him and Kyle Plary, a handful. But that’s the strength of Andrew Lee. You got a veteran in Cam Fowler and the stick at 27 to get this thing within one. Schaefer down for Lee. Paul Mary’s parked in front. Lee gives it to Horvak. Now Schaefer straight away. Horvac saved by Bennington. Doesn’t give them a rest, right? How about Bennington tracking this one. There’s no way he could even see from that angle, right? We’re behind. We’re sort of seeing his eyes. Can’t see his face right now. There’s the glove. Patrick taking his time out. And all the islanders on one side there too, Thomas. like nobody on the short side that maybe deflected down or what can’t get it out. It’s Schaefer unable to play it. Play to the boards now. Three seconds and two and the Blues hang on for a 2-1 win.
Brayden Schenn scored 42 seconds into the opening frame and the St. Louis Blues held on to defeat the New York Islanders 2-1.

❤❤❤😊😊😊
Both teams won’t make the playoffs
Let’s go Blues
this game was a nailbiter for the blues fans
Islanders.. what a joke
8:03 yeh Binnington is that guy sometimes
I still remember that Schenn/Lehterä trade. Philadelphia took a major L with that one
Is it my imagination or is it real that it has seemed for years and years (and years) that when the Islanders play an afternoon game they almost always lose?
