ESPN NFL LIVE | Dan Orlovsky STUNS, Atlanta Falcons Will Be A PROBLEM For The NFL
I said, uh, what was your big takeaway from this Falcons win over Buffalo at home? Yeah, that young talent is starting to really learn how to play NFL football. I fully expect Bjon Robinson to be at or very near the top of the MVP list come November. I think if you’re an NFC playoff team, if you’re the the Philadelphia Eagles, if you’re the Los Angeles Rams, the Minnesota Vikings, can you stop the outside zone? That’s unapologetically who this football team is with their two backs, Robinson and Alier. And if you defensively can’t corral that, can’t set the edge, can’t run through the backside of the gaps and tackle very well, this team’s going to be a problem. And so all those NFC playoff teams, man, this is a football team that has a clear identity on offense of what they want to do. and their young their young stars of Bejon and Drake London and Michael Penn are just at least offensively starting to put it together. They’re great, but for Falcons fans, I feel like the revelation has to have had been or has to was last night watching a pass rush for the first time in like 15 plus years. I mean, I’m sure it must have felt like a revelation watching back some of those pressures. Uh the two players who jumped out to me on tape were the two backers Kade Nellis and Devon Diablo. They blitzed a great deal. The more that Josh Allen has been blitzed in quite some time and they had a 44% brush pressure rate made a ton of sense by the way leaning into that because uh Kane Nellis I think is one of the best blitzing linebackers in football. But the other thing that really jumped out to me, Dan, watching them is not only were they able to pressure Allen, they were able to contain him while they were blitzing. And Ellis in particular, my goodness, it wasn’t him hanging back and spying. He was coming as a rusher, but then keeping eyes on Allen. And there were so many moments where in the past you felt like, oh, Allen’s going to take off. He’s going to scramble for a first down. And the backers were able to track him down. Just an outstanding performance by those two as part of what uh I’m sure for Falcons fans is a very exciting night. Yeah, Atlanta Falcons. I’ve been waiting all day to talk about this game. Nobody wants to talk about Michael Pennock. Nobody wants to talk about the Atlanta Falcons. And I kept saying to myself, I know is going to I know NFL Live is going to do it. You just got to wait. You just got to wait. And it was it was it was driving me crazy waiting all this long cuz this was a huge win. This was a massive win for the Atlanta Falcons. Michael Pennix played awesome. Pjun Robinson obviously was a monster. Raheem Morris finally getting that earning that paycheck with that defense coming in hot. Why they went all in on the draft defensively, etc. Like you you start to finally see it come to fruition. They made life for Josh Allen miserable. A lot of people want to say, “Oh, Josh Allen, he wasn’t good enough this that.” And it’s like, “No, the Atlanta Falcons came to play. The Atlanta Falcons made life miserable for Josh Allen and that Buffalo Bills offense. Nobody was ever open. Josh Allen was constantly flushed out of the pocket. I mean, the pressure was nonstop, relentless. Pennix was making some highlevel throws. That one touchdown pass to Drake London. Oh my goodness. This is why again I had to wait so long and it was driving me crazy. That’s why Atlanta Falcons fans, you you got to subscribe. You got to rise to the occasion. You got to watch the full length of the video so we can get more and more and more Atlanta Falcons fans on this channel. So we can just really start to easily make Atlanta Falcons videos so I can just keep pumping them out with any issue without any fear of just like nobody watching it because when you guys watch the full length video like this is what happens. We just go vertical and we create an avalanche of views and subscribers and comments. so we can have real conversations so we can actually discuss the Atlanta Falcons more cuz unfortunately the Falcons are one of a few teams where it’s just like you never know I make a video and 100 people watch it and four comments happened and you’re just like all right nobody wants to talk about it and as you can see the herd’s not really covering it first things first not covering it like I there was like nothing out there and it was it was driving me crazy it really was it was driving me crazy because you guys all know that I’ve been way hype uh on Michael Penn and this was just an awesome game this was an awesome game. I I I said this when I was talking about this from the from the Buffalo Bills perspective where I was just like, you know, you’re watching this game and I never really felt that the Buffalo Bills were going to pull it off after that fumble that then got called back obviously with Bejian Robinson. You just never felt like the Buffalo Bills had a chance ever. You the the the Atlanta Falcons were in control of this game the entire time. The entire time. It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t flawless. They they they opened up the door a little bit uh for them. This is a young team. It it takes time to be able to consistently close out games, but I was really impressed. I was really impressed. The play calling, they were unapologetic about it. They were smart. They were aggressive. They were assertive. They played to win. They didn’t play not to lose. They played like they belong, not like they were just trying to get an invite to the party. And I think uh Lewis Reic said it best where he’s like, “This is the search.” I think I wrote it down. Uh, you know, the the the the search with relevancy. Yeah. Search for relevancy. Search to be relevant. And the Falcons have not been. And winning this puts you in that category. Puts you in that position. And it’s really frustrating because the Falcons should be right up there in the in in their division. They should have beat the Bucks, which which could have devastating consequences down the road right now. But that’s why you just you you got to keep winning. You you you burned a couple of your bridges, right? Getting smoked by the uh uh Carolina Panthers. You you you burned the games that you probably should have won. You burned that. Stay on track. Stay on track. This team should have learned a ton about themselves now. Both sides of the ball, both the the coaching staff as a whole, you know what you have now. You have the game plan. You understand how to put Pennix in a position to succeed. You understand if you didn’t know before who you have than Bjan Robinson and Azir and and Drake London and anyone else you want to throw in there. Like this game was just we’re getting after it. This is one of the first Atlanta Falcons games that I watched in a while that I really felt everyone understood the assignment. Everyone understood what they needed to do. The game plan was clear. It was clear. It was defined on both sides of the ball. I could actually look at the Atlanta Falcon and say, “That’s a well- coached team right there. That was a well coached team. That team was ready to play. They were not surprised. They came out aggressive from the jump.” When I first saw the Atlanta Falcons, uh opening drive and they score, I’m thinking to myself, um you know, okay, that was good. It’ll be interesting. Scripted drive, opening drive at home. We’ll see how this continues to unfold. And it kept unfolding pretty well. I mean, even the play that didn’t turn into a touchdown, uh when Drake London stepped out of bounds, I think it was Drake London, right? When he stepped out of bounds, like even that was special. Again, I know it didn’t pan out, but there were some really high levels. The best quarterback of the night was Drake London. I said that in my postgame clip again. I don’t know why I keep saying Drake London’s a quarterback. That’s that is driving me nuts. Michael Pennix was the best quarterback on Monday night. I’m not saying he’s going to continue to be the best quarterback. I’m not going to say that he’s going to have the best career out of all of them. He was the best quarterback on Monday night. He played really, really high level ball. And it’s frustrating that people aren’t talking about it enough. It’s so frustrating that people aren’t even talking about the Atlanta Falcons enough. There was like just no conversations on any of the main shows really about the Atlanta Falcons, Michael Penn, Raheem Morris defense, Bejan Robinson. Like I I don’t understand. Like I like I know Pennix his um his box score wasn’t just like earthshattering or anything like that but he just made some really highlevel high quality difficult throws. I just was really impressed with it especially considering like this is his rookie year for all intents and purposes. This is him still learning, growing and evolving. Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels, Drake May even, like they they they have more time on task at the NFL level than Penn. So like I I am very much grading Michael Penn still on this rookie curve. So I’m not expecting him to be perfect. I’m not expecting him to be flawless. It’s why I expected better from the coaching staff to put this offense in a position to succeed, which is why I was so harsh and hard on them in the beginning of the season, throughout the season. and I’ll continue to be so. But like this has been great and the defense is elevated and now the offense is starting to catch up and again it’s not that difficult. Get the ball to Bian Robinson. Get the ball to be John Robinson. I mean they even said on the broadcast Louis Rick is like you got I don’t know he’s like man but be you know be John Robinson has to touch the ball every single down here you know and it’s and it’s true. Don’t try to overthink it. Don’t try to be the smartest man in the room. just just just do what you need to do because the thing I I think Michael Pennock played an awesome game on Monday and he also had the best luxury out of any other team. You know, he had Bejian Robinson. He had Bejian Robinson and arguably the best defense and not arguably the best defense of the night as well. And so you you want to be able to have a clear-cut win in that regard because things got dicey for a second near the end. You’re kind of like, “All right.” But again, I was still kind of looking at it was like, okay, maybe the the the Bills tie it up. Like again, no real confidence that they would even be able to tie it up. And even if they did, you’re kind of like, all right, well, Falcons, okay, they’ll get the ball back. Again, these are obviously made up scenarios where if there was a situation where the Bills were able to tie it up uh with like a minute 45 to go or something, you’re like, I I I don’t think I don’t I don’t feel like the that the Falcons can’t win this game, that they can’t get into field goal range, right? There was just a tremendous amount of belief. I’m watching this game, every level of it, 5 minutes into the first quarter, 8 minutes into the second quarter, the beginning of the third quarter, and I’m like, the Falcons are in control of this game. I’m watching this game thinking the Buffalo Bills are going to lose this game. You are going to need some pretty strong heroics from Josh Allen and an absolute complete collapse from the Atlanta Falcons. It’s a great place to be in. It’s a great place to be in. So, this is a huge win. It’s really frustrating that it’s understated. We can never just focus on what we see in the here and now, but this this deserves to be praised. This deserves to be emphasized. Um, and I’m trying my best to do it. But those are just my thoughts. I’d absolutely love to hear yours. What do you guys all think about um Michael Penn and the Atlanta Falcons and Bejian Robinson? 19 rushes, 170 yards. I think he had the one 82 or 83 or 81 yard run. Uh just just a monster. I mean, the one time they counted out he made like five, six guys miss. Just just just a it’s not it’s not even fair to be that strong that fast. It’s not even fair. It’s not fair. But let me know your thoughts in the comments below. I read every single comment. So, you agree with me or disagree with me. Either way, let’s get in some discussions. Let’s get in some fights. Always appreciate the falcons love bro
Let's go Falcons! Great content! Just subscribed!
People hate Atlanta sports, lol. Even sometimes, us Atlanta fans.
Thanks for the love. Most of NFL analyst and sports channels are Falcon haters.
As a falcons fan it wasn't a revelation. I already knew they had a good defense. It's a revelation to people that pretend the 30-0 game was because of that defense. Bryce only had 121 yards passing.
Leading this segment off with "can teams like the Vikings succeed against the zone" is absolutely hysterical. I think we showed unequivocally that they cannot 😂😂
First I would have to say, thankfully, showing evidence of heavily, no one else seems to second I hope that they continue to eat their foot on the a** going forward. And they see something right
I love Atlantas personnel
Falcons r #1 in ttl defense and #2 in ttl offense. Let that sink in 🤯🤔
That pass rush was fun to watch. Penix still looks a little unsure out there at times. When he calms down. He’s gonna be a problem
I’m fine with them not talking about us. The past few years when we get media recognition we fold. Falcons need to stay under the radar and just perform
I was saying at the beginning of the year, they could have a chance to do what the Commanders did last year with Jayden Daniels. Underrated team, makes a playoff run because they have the talent. Coaching seems to finally be coming together
Love this, every video I’ve seen has been about the bills not playing well why is it never the falcons simply played better
I appreciate the Dirty Bird love but I love the hate they give us more cause I love making them look stupid
National Media never talks the falcons unless they want to crap on them but as a Falcons fan we have to go out there and earn the coverage. Let’s see if this team can stack wins from here RiseUp!!!
As a Falcon fan I couldn't be happier I am a huge fan of Penix!! Only seen one other person with that throwing motion Dan Marino. The release and the bullets lets him complete passes few could ever make. They have so many weapons thanks for the coverage!
I'm happy with Penix but he needs some serious work on the layups and layering throws.
As a native Atlantan and long time sufferer of watching the Falcons, what a breath of fresh air. Just thought I'd share my thoughts.
Penix – Really good and sometimes excellent. His issue is when there's pressure I think. When it's a designed rollout he's good. When he can set his feet he's fine. He'll figure it out but right now pressure is an issue. Some of his throws when there's some heat got me shaking my head to be honest.
Defense – What do we have like 5 new starters? Diablo was a fantastic pickup. Ellis and Bates run the defense and they are Elite. The rookies? Don't even get me started. Our D-Line is actually very solid this year after letting Grady go. Wow is all I have to say as a longtime Falcons fan. Shocking to say the least.
London – He's a legitimate WR1 and a potential star. So fun to watch.
Bijan – what can you say except he's top 3 RB in the league. I wasn't sure about the pick as high as it was a few years ago but I was wrong. He's a 10/10 in my book.
Offensive line – it's been good. The backup RT is the definition of next man up. I thought this would be a real problem, but it's not.
I wish we had a deep threat. Maybe we can make a trade. Other than that, couldn't be happier…. and more surprised. RiseUp!!
Mia is not a believer.
I hope Raheem realizes that if he just allow the coordinators to do their jobs, we can have success. But Raheem is doing better as a head coach like using timeouts when need to, challenges, etc.
I'm still not convinced still got a lot to work on in the Redzone scoring Touchdowns and field goals
Let them keep over looking us. We prefer channels like yours hyping us up.
Orlovski is a dunbtard, worse QB in the history of the NFL. Leave it to commie ESPN to think he's a expert. Shit for brains one and all
As a fan since 75 thks for showing the love. That Defense play like Fulton Co. Dirt Field nasty.
Mina Kines dogged the Falcons all offseason saying they were not good. Awesome to hear her change her tune. So glad they talked Falcons when everyone is talking about ‘whats wrong with the Bills’
I was there with my Section 242 Krew…what a win! We’ve got a lot of work left to do, but there’s a lot of positives with our Dirty Birds! #riseup
ita the mongoose 😮
Falcons fan here. Subscribed with notifications on. Thanks for the love!
More love for the Falcons D. Falcons defensive scheming and player execution was exceptional. Tying up the Bills OL and creating lanes for others to the QB. I would hate to be OL's facing the Falcons D if it stays at this level.
Appreciate the Love. We just need to stack WINS and the media and haters will HAVE TO TAKE NOTICE.
Im used to the media not liking the falcons… the media is pure garbage and always has been. Noone watches them anymore they all act like spoiled children and lie constantly.
We're with ya! #FalconNation
Thanks for the love💪🏾💪🏾
RISE UP – WE ARE NEARLY OUT OF PURGATORY FOR THE SB COLLAPSE
its a shame to think about if Matt Ryan had a defense – the best was 2016 the rest of his career our defense sucked
nobody wants to talk about M Penix because he cant run, and is slow on his decisions – he is an average QB
I keep thinking that guy is Dennis from Its always sunny
Rise up! Thanks for recognizing we exist.
I love Mina Kimes but she is a very recent convert to being positive about ATL. Better late than never though!
What team have you been watching? This is the falcons. Until they play defense like this the entire year, I'm waiting on the collapse like we always do. Penix played good? What game are you watching. Penix got lucky A LOT. Terrible throws. This game was Bijan. This offense is bad. Without Bijan we are 0-5. Think about that. One guy is literally our entire offense. And we have yet to see someone step up on a consistent basis, besides Bijan. The reason no one talks about us is even in the golden years of Matt Ryan this team was still garbage. A guy who should be in the HOF on any other team but because of 28-3 and the fact he was a falcon he will never sniff it. That's our reputation.
You called it brodie. Thanks for standing by us 🙏
It gets harder from this point. No one will take the Falcons lightly again.
Falcons have always been treated like the black sheep of the NFL but their Super Bowl win is coming and hopefully soon with more to follow. The foundation is being laid and pretty soon the media will have to talk about them.
A friend of mine from Tampa, said this past week- I hate the Falcons; as a Falcons fan, all I could think was I reserve all my hate for the Saints. By the way, Bucs fans; I want yall to bring those 1976 Uniforms back for more games
When will you finally let that week 1 loss go my guy? It’s over with lol
Falcons fan for 50 years. Been impressed so far. Michael Penix will be a superstar, and Bijan too. Really seeing hope
