What’s going on, Jerome? It’s beautiful Saturday. Birds and are indeed chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. So, tomorrow tomorrow we kick the Packers ass tomorrow, bro. I understand that the Vikings are four and six. I understand that the season is hinging on this game. I I understand that the Vikings could essentially eliminate themselves uh if they poop themselves uh tomorrow. Do not care, right? Whether they’re 0 and10, whether they’re 0 and16, taking on the Packers, Vikings gonna beat that Packers ass. Feels good, man. Uh, and jumping John Randall, who is awesome, man. John Randall, HOF, and it’s really cool that he, you know, stays here in the great state of Minnesota, uh, is a luminary, is a fantastic alumni. Uh, never played for the Seahawks. That did not happen. Yeah. But, uh, John Randall, um, Pooper’s full. Uh, Purple Friday, no pack, no. Yes, indeed you. Well, you serious, Clark? It’s good times, man. Love to see it where John Randall was so good, man. Plus, I love his energy. Uh, his restaurant was actually pretty good and then it got shut down. But 93 is the place to be, man. Just can’t wait. Like, there there’s just something about Vikings Packers, you know what I mean? And this is what the, you know, the rivalry is all about where, you know, the Vikings have a chance to make a statement, get their season right. Packers, they they look pretty fallible. So, uh Vikings Packers final injury report as well designations were out for the Packers. Hobbs out and Shaw out. Uh Jaden Reed, they kickstarted his hot uh 21-day return practice window. Obviously, he was going to play this Sunday. Quay Walker’s questionable DNP all week with the neck and then a bunch of other Oh, no. Qu Walker doubtful. A bunch of others questionable as well. uh potentially them getting back Lucas Vaness. Maybe he’ll actually start unlike at Iowa. Uh but also the man of the hour is Josh Jacobs. So, you know, Jacob says that he wants to be out there. Says that if he misses Sunday, he’s at least playing Thursday. I don’t know, man. I don’t know. Like either we’re being greatly undersold how bad that knee injury was. Uh cuz he had returned to practice in limited fashion last couple days. Or I don’t know, dude’s just a stud or this is Smoke’s room. One of the three. I don’t know, man. But either way, like if Jacobs plays, he won’t be Josh Jacobs, but you know, he’s still pretty good. There you go. Speaking of injuries, so Jonathan Gernard, uh, Vikes fan page, Vikings head rusher Jonathan Gard is super confident that he will play on Sunday against the Packers. He’s also listed as questionable on the injur report, as is Ryan Kelly, who we’ll talk about a sec. But, you know, Gernard be a huge boost boost for the Vikings because well, Denil Hunter, which we’ll talk about in a sec, but you know, Gernard two sacks this year, but does lead the team in pressures. And even though Diamond Dallas Turner played the best game of his career against the Bears in Grenard’s absence, having AVG Grard and Turner there, it’s going to be it’s going to be good. It’s going it’s going to be monstrous. And then for Ryan Kelly, uh Emily liker start being Kevin Okonnell says outside he was living in practice day. Ryan Kelly is questionable too, but Kevin Okcono said it’s procedural which it means a player coming back from their 21day return to practice window. Hasn’t been activated as of yet. Um I’m sure he will be today. Uh with the roster spot vacated by Dwight Neloth being waved, is that procedural that you probably have to list them as questionable? uh even though full Wednesday, full Thursday, full Friday uh as well as a you know pretty decent participant in practice last week. So yeah, Kelly is going to be back and you know re respect to Ryan Kelly in that regard. Respect to Ryan Kelly in that regard where you know only played three games u before having those two concussions uh in three weeks but 72.2 PFF grade over 113 snaps, zero pressure, zero sacks allowed. You know, a veteran, he’s fantastic calling out protections, helping JJ McCarthy out there. Plus, remember, Kelly was a center that McCarthy worked with all off season and all training camp. So, that’s important to note. But definitely give it up for Blake Brle, man. Like, Brandle uh at center last three games has been phenomenal. So, three pressure, zero sacks allowed, 64.5 PF run blocking grade, 69 carries on the ground, 377, and 5.46 yards per carry. Now, this is important because Okconell said that in their offense, in their run game, the center essentially is the quarterback of the run game. You know, calling out blocking schemes and whatnot. So, Brandle done that with a plum. So, respect to him there. 82.5 PFF pass blocking grade, which is third best in the NFL. During that time, Garrett Bradberry was 36 of 38 qualifying centers the last three games. So, Bradberry started off like this. Sort of like, yeah, but yeah. Uh, but e either way, like TBD, what happens with Kelly this off seasonason? Maybe they cut him. Maybe they maybe he retires. Who knows? But Brandle should definitely be in the mix for center of the future because you Jurgens had a shot, didn’t do much with it. Brle’s played really good, really good over the last couple of uh weeks and especially you having that first team offensive line back together, Darasaw Jackson, Kelly, Fry O’Neal. Uh basically you had 80% of that with Brandle at center. So either way like having continuity and health up front, there’s a reason why the Vikings O line has been really damn good uh the last three games. There you go. Also Jonathan James McCarthy. So a couple things here. So JJ, all this talk, all the criticism from the national media der haircuts, some fair, some certainly not, but 999 going to let it go. And nine is not going to be as in German. Big- time German population in Wisconsin. But no, nine is not German for no or whatever. Uh but also the uh quoted uh Kevin Okonnell when asked about JJ McCarthy how he’s attacking this week. Uh Okonnell said this about nine. He’s nine attack like it’s like he’s attacked every opportunity all year long. Every practice week we’ve had its game plan. It’s the comfort with that. But obviously there’s a major emphasis right now on pre, during, and post practice. Continuing to hammer home the techniques and fundamentals. He’s had some great examples of it through the week throwing the ball really well. Now for him, it’s can you carry that over to a tough road divisional opponent with a great defense and great pass rush. uh in if circumstances that may not be easy for you to fall back in some habits that have proven to be things we’re working through or can you take the preparation into the game and let’s see some examples of it. If he does that, I think he’ll have a great really positive day. That’s what we’re looking for. And that’s the thing with McCarthy. If McCarthy had sucked ass in practice, it would have leaked. Like we would heard it from a a staffer, anonymous source, you know, player would have leaked it to the media. But that’s certainly not the case. This is not 2010 Tim Tibo, you know what I mean? So, obviously, especially since Kevin McConnell has such a stress on practice, you know, McCarthy’s looked good. Uh he said that McCarthy had the best two days of practice uh last week, but and it is about carrying it into the game. And it is about just reps upon reps upon reps until it’s just muscle memory and he doesn’t have to think about it because you can tell when he’s overthinking, when he’s pressing out there, when you know the confidence gets shot a little bit. But, you know, McCarthy are not afraid to put in the work and they’ll do the best they can in season. Even though this is really more of an offseason, maybe a multi offseason thing, but things will be fine. Things will be fine with that. Just don’t think, just do. Also, this is fantastic, too. Uh, Vikes Vampage. So, JJ McCarthy’s dad, Jim, Big Jim McCarthy, uh, was on a Michigan podcast and he relayed this story. Uh, cool story shared by Jim McCarthy, JJ’s dad. When JJ was at Michigan, uh, so JJ does not stand for Jim Jr. Uh, Jonathan James. Uh, when JJ was at Michigan, he earned $20 for every McCarthy jersey sold. How much is Bryce Underwood making this year? Like 4 million bucks? No. Instead of keeping it, he put every penny towards taking care of his offensive line. McCarthy made over $70,000 after beating Ohio State back in 2022. and he took 26 of his teammates, the offensive line to Ruth’s Chris and paid the entire bill. That’s a type of character uh and just intangibles that we have with Jay McCarthy. He’ll probably take the offensive lineman out to Manny’s or was it Stocken Stocken Bond is it is a new steakhouse supposed to be pretty good. But this this is your way to offensive lineman’s hat food specifically stakes. And also, I feel like Ruth’s Chris is really underrated. Like, it’s it’s really pretty solid. You know, you kind of get get what you get in terms of a national champ, but Roose Chris is actually not bad. So, there you go. So, prop props to JJ McCarthy. Take care of his guy. I can’t wait to see what he gives the offensive lineman for Christmas gifts. Probably going to be something weird like a meditation app or Oh, it’s a a meditation mask. You just close your eyes. Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas, Darasaw. Speaking of meats, I don’t know, just flowed well. But Eric Hendricks, who’s been really stepping up his social media game as of late, uh discovering the the the glory of pot roast. I mean, this is what happens when you retire. Uh but looking like uh you know, a good pot roast, look like a crock-pot action going on. Uh you got it looks like they put the sear on on the the chuck and then you potatoes are good to go. The carrots look good. Salad looks a little bit hammered, but it’s all right. All right. I feel like here’s what you have to do. Uh if you’re brazing a, you know, brazing a pot roast, you know, chuck roast, whatever, or if you’re doing in a crockpot, you have to add the vegetables in stages because they all have different cooking times. You add, yes, ideally you want the, you know, the carrots and the and the onions and the celery, the mirror in for flavoring of the broth. But if if you’re actually going to eat them, um potatoes in first, then carrots, then celery right at the end. I I actually do a little bit shallower because I actually like a little bit toothsomeness on the vegetables. Not not the potatoes, but the other ones. But either way, looking kind of good. Although do a little bit of drippings, reduce that down. Do a little demigloss on top. Let’s go, baby. Let’s go. But uh yeah, Kendricks, we have the meats. That’s what we’re going for. Also, will the throw rocker taking in some Friday night lights historic US Bank Stadium, uh state football championships. Will Rocker’s out there scouting. Hey, how’d you get that deal on the suite? Plenty of good seats available. Uh th this would be the crowd if uh Kurt Cousins was still here. So mean. Yeah. Uh but yeah, great. The Will the Thrill is um you taking in the sights and the sounds. It’s good times. Also, so we want to get back to run the damn ball. And yes, we have Aaron Jones. Yes, we have Jordan Mason. Yes, Cam Acres is there as well. But I don’t know. But I just feels like we need a little extra diesel power. You know what I mean? Tom Pelero, former Texans running back Damen Pierce cleared waiverss and is now a free agent. Now Pierce, I mean, Pierce is pretty solid. I think he’s a fourth round pick by the Texans coming out of Florida. You know, former teammates with Cam Acres. And he’s actually kind of an underrated receiver. They just haven’t used him in that role. But, uh, his role with the Texans has been just decreasing over and over and over again. Plus, uh, even though Mixon’s been out, they got Woody Marks is emerging, the pride of USC, plus Nick Chub, the remnants of Nick Chub is there. Uh, but Pierce, I mean, he’s run for uh, you know, eight touchdowns, four yards a carry, which is solid for a powerback, you know, 1,600 rushing yards. It just feels like we we need a little bit more attitude in the run game. And yeah, I I would certainly add him to the mix. Uh when it comes to Aaron Jones, when it comes to Jordan Mason, just having those options, you know what I mean? That’d be good. Poor hell. Just play Zer Scott. I know. Uh but also Thursday night, so the Texans as six-point dogs took care of the Bills, which the Bills are poopy. You know, I I understand they had a bunch of injuries, but Josh Allen, everyone’s like, “Hey, Josh Allen needs more help.” He was literally given 14 points by James Cook who pretty damn close to Dalvin pretty looking pretty damn good. Also had the, you know, kick return touchdown. How does Josh Allen have zero touchdowns and two picks and he just skates? If JJ McCarthy had that stat line, he would be crucified. But the Texans social team, fantastic troll job here. This is good. So after the game, Hannah Buffalo wings, our guy Denil, the real deal hunter, uh the te the Texans mascot, what’s his name? I don’t know. Beef. That would be a great name for a mascot. Yeah. Uh but Denil, uh so right now PFF Denil Hunter has seven seven sacks during the Texans threeame winning streak. There you go. He and Will Anderson are looking really damn good. And all I can say is I really hope that Jonathan Gernard plays and looks good on Sunday. That’s all. And you know, Denil Hunter, I’m glad that he got to go home. You know, the pride of Katy, Texas, you know, playing in Houston, that’s really good. No state income tax, warm weather year round. Fully get it. But, you know, Denil always be, you know, special to Vikings fans. Probably a future Ring of Honor guy. Like to see it. Uh, lastly, the HU9. The national media does not give you the time of day. They called your NFC offensive player of the week award week one against the Bears fraudulent. Being the Lions fraudulent, they love to kick you when any indiscretion comes up or any little mistake comes up or any inconsistency comes up. Oh, he’s not the guy. He’s a bust. Knew he’s a bust. Blah blah blah blah blah blah. All he could do at Michigan was hand off and cheat with Connor Stallions. That’s it. Please center yourself. The Vikings honestly have no excuse not to go up to Green Bay and burn the house down because this is the healthiest that the team has been all year. And for all of the hype that this team had this off season where you had this FU offensive line, you have a good running game, you have the best wide receiver in the game and a complement of weapons. You have this defense that can get after the the passer and stop the run and also hopefully take the ball away. You have everything that you need right here. Nine. So, let’s see it. Yeah. Let’s see. Let’s see a game with 70% completion percentage. How about that? How about a I don’t know 200 yard passing game. How about that? How about three touchdowns on the road taking down another NFC North Divisional foe? That’s right. How about getting to five and six, picking up sticks, saving the season? You can’t get on a sevename winning streak without winning one, which what we’re going to do on Sunday. Just I believe I believe that nine is the answer. That’s right, baby. Just have the faith.
