Bengals NOT Activating Joe Burrow for Matchup vs Patriots: INSTANT REACTION
The Bengals have made a decision when it comes to Joe Bro status for Sunday’s game against the Patriots, and it’s the wrong one. Let’s get into it right now on Cincinnati Bengals Talk. This breaking news presented to you by Sleeper. Use promo code Bengals Talk. You’ll get up to a $100 match on your first deposit with Sleeper. Terms and conditions apply. Let’s Let’s dive into this. Ian Rapaort was all over it. He he he was the first one to report this. Uh this is honestly the worst to me the worst case scenario. I’ll be I’m not I’m not going to sugarcoat it. I’m not going to pretend to dress it up. This is the worst case scenario because what the Bengals are going to do is the Bengals are going to play Joe Burrow. They’re just going to play him on Thursday on Thanksgiving and they do nothing, absolutely nothing. And they’ll say, “Oh, well, we do a little walkthrough and they do nothing from Sunday to Thursday.” So playing him on on back-to-back games with the short week. I guess they were leerary of that. But they won’t play him on Sunday, but they’re going to probably play him on Thursday. And he’s going to make his debut on the road in Baltimore with what very well could be a 3-8 team. And I’m not saying Joe Bro is going to beat the Patriots on Sunday. I’m not. But if I’m bringing my franchise quarterback back, if I’m bringing that dude back, the dude that changed the entire city when he got here in 2020, I’m doing it when he has a a a chance, even if it’s 2%, a chance at making the playoffs. And I’m sure as hell doing it if he has a chance at making the playoffs and he’s healthy enough to go. And both of those things are true. And so you could sell me on the idea of, all right, we’re bringing Joe Burrow back with the idea that he’s going to get us past the Patriots. Jamar’s going to come back and we’re going to go to Baltimore and win and suddenly in 5 days we’re going to go from three and seven to five and seven. Like you can sell me on that idea. And that’s why I’ve been bullish on doing that this week because it’s like all right if you want to go all in to try to completely shock the world. Like I get it because you have Joe Burrow. You do. But this this is doing everything on one side that no one wanted. risk Joe Burrow with zero reward. I’ll say it again. You’re risking Joe Burrow and it it’s still the same amount of risk Thursday. I I’ve seen a lot of people say, “Oh, well, it it just feels a a bit risky.” No, no, no, no, no. Same level of risk. I’ve I’ve done too many conversations all week long about this. There’s the same amount of risk on Thursday that there would be on Sunday. And there would be the same amount of risk on Sunday that there would be on Thursday. It’s not different. And and a lot of you are going to be like, “Oh, well, you’re not a doctor or what?” Check out our article, banglesalk.com with Dr. Brandon Bowers. I asked him, I was like, “I’ve been on this all week.” And that’s someone on the record. Imagine the off the record conversations I’ve had on this all week. Is there any risk? Is it extra? Is there any There’s not. And so it just feels far more comfortable doing this and going this route. And so on one hand, guess what? That’s fine if you’re okay with losing. And that’s the other element here that I think is really really interesting. Maybe Joe Flacco leads them past the Patriots. I think that’s really tough for me to comprehend. Joe Flacco, no Jamar Chase, them ending the Patriots eightgame losing or winning streak. Tough for me to wrap my head around. Maybe it happens. Maybe it does. And it would be tough with Joe Burrow. To be clear, I’m not saying they would have won with Burrow. I think they would have a better chance with Burrow. So, you take that opportunity away. They’ll likely be 3 and 8. And maybe not. Maybe maybe they get it done Sunday and at 5:00 p.m. I’m standing on Por Stadium uh on the field at Por Stadium. I’m like, “All right, well, there there we go. That it worked.” And now Joe can come back and they have a chance to get to five and seven anyway, maybe. But if you’re bringing him back anyway, if the the the days between Sunday and Thursday on a on a short week, I’ll give you an idea. Sunday, a ton of treatment. Uh you you get treatment after the game. Monday, you get treatment. You’re doing weightlifting, film review. Tuesday, Tuesday is your Wednesday where you have you you install the game plan. You’re going through all that stuff. And guess what? You don’t have a real hard practice. It is a very, very light practice. He’s not going to get valuable reps on Tuesday. Wednesday, you travel to Baltimore. Thursday, you play the game. And so, is it a quick turnaround? Yeah, it’s a quick turnaround for everybody. But to to go this route, you’re you’re essentially saying, “All right, Joe, you’re coming back, but you’re probably coming back with very little to play for from a a playoff standpoint.” And everyone might have res resigned themselves to that fact, but early this week, I said I wouldn’t bring Joe back at all. And so if they’re three and eight, that that’s what’s tough about this, man. You got to be all in and that’s it. And not halfass it. And this feels like they’re going halfway. Quite frankly, that’s what it feels like. It feels like they’re going halfway where it’s we want to bring Joe back and we want to compete and Joe wants to play and so why not play him but he’s probably coming back to a three and eight football team. Oh, by the way, he was good to go on Sunday. We just we we felt a little uncomfortable with it. We’re going to go a little That’s it. That’s it. Zack Taylor said he’s done everything he needs to do to show that he’s ready to go and on Friday he said that and and I think he was hesitant because the two days two games in a short window and I get it. I do. I understand it. But that’s what you put that’s the position you put them in. That’s a position the team when Joe was out put him in. And so if you are bringing him back, if you are risking him, if you are taking on all of the risk, all of the concern, all of the worry, all of the everything, everything that you’re going to think or that you would have thought as a fan going into Sunday’s game, every bit of it is still there Thursday. Every single bit of it, every ounce of it, every single ah man, is is he going to be able to move? Is he going to And it’s going to be the Ravens on the road, right? So, it’s harder to communicate on offense. It’s harder to like there there are so many factors here where it just made sense to me. If you were bringing him back to just do it. And if you weren’t bringing him back, then don’t. Fine. I wouldn’t debate that. I really wouldn’t. Not at three and seven. But if you were, go all in. They didn’t. They went halfway. I hate it. I think it’s a mistake. I I think it’s the wrong approach because you’re assuming the risk and you have zero reward unless Joe Flacco and the Patriots uh can beat the Patriots. Joe Flacco and the Patriots. That’s weird. But Joe Flacco can beat the Patriots. And maybe he does. Maybe he does. And if he does that, then I’ll eat my words and I’ll say, “Hey, it worked out. You gave Joe Burrow a few more days of rest. Joe Flacco got to start another game. You got to four wins and you have a chance to go on the road and and salvage your season on Thanksgiving.” Maybe that’ll be the case. Maybe. Doesn’t feel likely. I appreciate each and every one of you for following all week long. And if you’re looking for more like analysis on this, we did a video yesterday on which Joe and it had some important quotes from Dr. Brandon Bowers just on the the risk, the injury risk and all of those things. A lot of you are missing the point here. He's 1,000% coming back this season and will likely play Thursday. Regardless of what happens Sunday. So Burrow returns for the 3-8 Bengals. OR he comes back Sunday at 3-7 with a chance to lead them to back to back wins and save their season. Unlikely? Absolutely. But there's Zero Chance at 3-8. I'd be fine shutting him down for the year. They aren't. And he's likely playing on Thanksgiving.
I look forward to a new coaching staff and changes in the FO 🙏🏽
I would rather play Flacco than a rusty Burrow who hasn’t played but 2 games this season
Bengals should just keep him off the field so they can get a top 10 draft pick
You’re a clown, no wonder the players don’t like you
There is nothing to play for; HBD-Historically Bad Defense
We were gonna lose anyway 😂😂😂😂
We are officially 3-8
Another L incoming! What a disaster Zac has been.
They should treat the rest of the season like pre-season, they are 100000000000000% COOKED JAMES.
I don't even want to see him until 2026, this season ended Week 2.
Could t disagree more.
Thank you for posting a video to prove how ignorant you are about the NFL.
Bengals half ass everything that’s why they are in this situation…idiots
Joe Burrow should not play at all this season end of story
Yea that’s why we shouldn’t be playing him at all this season. The season is over.
We need to focus on other matters
They need to start Jake Browning for the rest of the season
Smartest thing this organization has done is years.. they should sit him the rest of the year
I wanted Burrow to play so bad but honestly didn't think couple of practices isn't enough for 2 games in 5 days. Especially after being out this long. I hate it but understand. Does suck our season is over if we loose
No reason to waste Joe on the Pats. It’s futile. By the half, the Bengals D will
lock in the L.
100% agreed, James
Keep him out until next year and try to buy or draft a good defense and few better o lineman.
Maybe they’re not bringing him back bro
I totally with everything you said James but I don't agree with your initial energy niw maybe energy Flacco can lead us to the W. He hasn't been our problem, in fact he's been the biggest part of the reason to have optimism! Even with Shiesty, we'd have to assume a better outing from the defense so if that's that, then Flacco has been batting 90% so put some respect on him. We have the same shot either way in my opinion, basing it off of a 30 pt offensive outing, so here's hoping 🤷🏾
Man, keep drinking that kool-aid! A mistake?! The mistake is for Joe B to stay a Bengal. He should find a better ownership/ team b4 its too late! Geesh!
