[Music] In today’s NBA gameplay, LeBron James makes his return as the Los Angeles Lakers gear up for an exciting showdown with Lorie Markinan and the struggling Utah Jazz. The Lakers enter at 10-4, holding the fourth spot in the West, while the Jazz sit at 5 and eight and 10th in the conference. Will Los Angeles cruise to a comfortable win, or can Utah pull off a surprising upset? Watch the full video to see how it all plays out. Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Music] [Music] move the ball around. Stand to create more offense. Well, that’s usually the best way to attack, especially against good defenses. Ball movement moves the defense. And when you’ve got the defense on the move, that’s when you can break them down and get high percentage shots. It takes patience. It takes unselfishness. It seems to be the most efficient way, doesn’t it? It does, especially against really good defenses. Here are the starters for Los Angeles. Austin Reeves out there with LeBron James. Then there’s Donic. Then there’s Smart. And it’s Aon in at the five-star. Now Reeds after Lowry Markin misses from long range took the opportunity when he saw it. Showing some range. LeBron more than capable of hurting you from deep. [Applause] And here’s George. He’ll bring it up for Utah. It’s a three-point game. Bailey has it to George down low. Gets tipped and stolen by LeBron inside. LeBron James on the wing. [Applause] Back to Smart. Pass to Reeves. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. Shot clock at six. Near the three-point line. And it’s Donuch. The shot goes in. First shot, first basket. And he’s such a polished shooter. You can’t give Donic these kinds of opportunities or he’s going to burn you. Here’s Bailey. He’s defended by Reeds. Markin looking it over the three ball. And he’s good on the three ball. a big boost to their chemistry when marketing is operating the pick and roll that well. Teams need their bigs to master that set. Smart passes to James. LeBron sets the screen for Reeves. And here’s Dic from the arc. It’s rebounded by Mail. Utah’s gone one and two from long range in the first quarter. And you can never really count out these Los Angeles Lakers, Greg, can you? No, I I I really don’t think you can. They They battle out of the playin tournament. They overcome obstacles and they have tremendous willpower. Here’s Reeves outside James. Pass to Reeves. The three for Donic. Gets the three-pointer to fall. Donic has got five now. And Dantic used to creating kind of a luxury for him to simply and Will Hardy calls timeout here. He wants to check in with his team and regroup. On the court is your hype. [Applause] [Music] to the left side wing. [Music] Norkitch kicks to George, sinks the triple and developing that three ball shot. George is putting in the work now. And in this first quarter, about 3 minutes played, [Music] pass to Smart. And here is LeBron to the paint. Aton with it. That shot off the mark. Here’s [Applause] Mky guarded by Smart. Mail passes to George. Here’s Bailey to the middle. It’s deflected and stolen by Eaton. Reeves the pass to James. And that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. And for the Jazz, the last few seasons, coach, have been a period of rebuilding. Yeah, it has, Kevin. You know, they acquired a lot of draft capital when they traded Goar and Mitchell, and they’ve since drafted a lot of young talent and still have plenty of picks to work with. [Applause] First free throw is good. The feel LeBron has for the game. Unreal. Whatever situation he finds himself in, he always seems to have an answer. [Applause] And so he hits both. You know, Greg, thinking back to the glory days in Utah, they went to back-to-back finals in 97 and 98. Unfortunately though, Kevin, that Stockton Malone era, they just couldn’t overcome the dynastic Bulls. The the Jazz still searching for that first NBA title. Oh, okay. I guess LeBron wanted that one to sting a little. He put a little extra on that one. Jazz trail by six. Cut him in. Cut him in. George with the ball outside. Markin. Joric. A screen on LeBron. There’s the triple left to the wing. Here’s Mkyu off target with his three. And here’s James. He’ll bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. Shot from 12 again. Los Angeles. Once Donic gets inside with the ball, he’s halfway there. Then he just uses his strength to finish the job. Bailey pass it to George. Another miss by Utah. Here’s Los Angeles now. They’re on a 14-6 run. Donic against George. Donic dishes to Aiden. tries again and Donic lays it in. Donic has got nine points. They’ve been excellent so far coming in with a wellbalanced attack. Yeah. Now it’s all about maintaining this lead, but you can’t start playing it safe. You got to keep attacking and executing. It’s good from Hong Re. He’s got six. And early on, Markin has demonstrated how efficient he is from that range. have to run him off the line. James outside wants to get it to Reeves and does count that one. And that’s an example of playing big, adapting to the situation. Well, if you have the killer instinct he showed there, it doesn’t matter what the size and Will Hardy is called timeout. This will give him a chance to discuss some potential alterations. [Applause] [Music] And Utah making a change here. Cawers checked in. [Applause] Get open. Here’s George. Nerkage finds Markin with the steel to the inside. reads and he takes the fantastic lead pass up strong for the slam. Yeah, we’re seeing some fireworks from them already. Yeah, I mean this is exactly how you want to start a game with a big offensive push. Here’s Kier. And now we’ve got some time to check in from the sidelines. You got for us DA? Thanks Kevin. Talked to Will Hardy a little while ago. I asked him about the game plan to contain LeBron James and he laughed. He said, “There’s a way to contain LeBron James. All we can do is try not to give him easy looks and force him to make tough plays.” Guess that’s the best you can do against King James, guys. Thank you, David. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] And the first one at the line is good. James checked in for Donic. [Applause] And both free throws good for Nerkish. Los Angeles leading by nine. Here’s James. Smart passes to James. Good. And Smart gets the assist. Yeah, they they have gone full throttle from the opening tip, showing no signs of letting up. Yeah, they’ve come out with more energy and effort and that’s reflected in the score. Chaz have gotten three of eight shots to fall for them here in the first quarter. George dishes to Nerkage and finished off by Nerkage. You can’t allow Nerkage to get that kind of position. When you do, he is going to rattle that rim. Los Angeles has gone two or three from deep so far in this game. To the paint. Noric with the steel. [Music] [Applause] Smart against George [Music] [Applause] outside. Markin pass to Norkitch. Lee good on the triple. Noric has got seven points in the game. Nerkish doesn’t take a lot of bad shots. So when he decides to pull up off the dribble, you know he’s feeling it. [Applause] Here’s Collier. James covering [Applause] out of bounds. The Lakers will take possession. [Music] [Applause] And so James will bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. Six-point lead. Jacks up a three. Sinks the three-pointer. James has got a couple of threes now in the first for Los Angeles. And they don’t want to get in a habit of giving him open looks from three. First quarter still, but not who you want to leave open. And George gets it to go. Aggressive slash from the young guard. George fears no one when attacking the basket. [Applause] And here is James. You know, talking to Keonte George, he credits film watching for much of his success. Uh, I like that kind of element he brought up. Yeah, they say he also spends a lot of time talking to veterans on the team, seeks advice from them and coaches. He’s a real student of the game, and that has helped. So, the Raptors, he punched it in. Are you kidding me? And Kevin, even though they’re down, he’s still looking to do the spectacular. And he did. Well, maybe this is the best time to do it. here and James throws it down hard. Wow. And that sort of showmanship is just deflating right now to a team trying to get back into a game like this. Ouch. Greg, that is definitely an emphasis jam. A big apostrophe or exclamation point, maybe even a question mark. [Applause] Here’s Kier James covering. Then you don’t ever want to get into the habit of letting the offense get to the rim. And a chance now to catch up on some numbers with the hustle stats for the Lakers. Well, so far they’ve done a great job of reading the offense and repeatedly putting themselves in the right place to interrupt the play and force turnovers. And they’re making their own luck with how hard they’re playing, forcing turnovers and turning that into offense. [Applause] and he knocks down the first one. Some changes for the Lakers. Katimura comes in for LeBron and Donic is subbed in for Vincent. [Applause] [Applause] Both shots good from the strike. 122 left to play in the first quarter. Pass to Hayes. Back to James. Now here’s Hayes. Lakers passing it around. [Applause] And they double up. Donic. Just four to shoot and James gets it to go on the assist by Donic. James has got six points. Excellent at dishing the rock. Luca with the nice feed. [Applause] Jazz trail by seven. 54 seconds left here in the first quarter. Anderson. A screen on James. Here’s Sensall. It’s rebounded by Hayes. And that is the exact type of opportunity this offense is looking to create. Yeah, quality offense will serve you well in the long run. You can’t settle for bad shots. [Applause] 36 seconds left to play in the first quarter. The three for Dunic. It’s hauled in by Sensible. Well, the defense catches a break there. You expect him to make notes. Playing with high energy, outworking the defense up the floor. Yeah, the commitment to run is paying great dividends on the break. [Applause] Now, Donic nine points in the game so far and they’re running. And the bucket is good. Three-point play chance here for him. Just great anticipation and awareness to come up with the steal and then trigger the fast break. Second personal foul. 13 foul. Utah shooting their fifth attempt at the line in the game. One shot, [Applause] one shot. [Applause] And that one misses with one on the clock. This defense and it’s been working like a charm early on. Lakers leading by three. So on the floor for the Lakers to start this second quarter. Donic out there with James. Then it’s Ruy Himura. Then it’s Jackson Hay and it’s Loravia in at the small four. And a wide open look for Himura. Good. And the assist goes to James. Hatimura’s got himself on the board with three there. Utah has gone four of eight tonight from three-point land. Shooting 50% on the three ball here. Pass to Bailey again. And the Jazz score. Greg, you know this. Good coaches give their players confidence, but what’s the balance there between affirmation and accountability? Well, when you believe in a player, that also comes with expectation. So, a coach has to boost them up and also demand that they deliver. And if you’re the guy who has to guard him, it is never going to be an easy night for you. [Applause] Here’s Collier. And we played through the first minute here in the second. [Applause] Here’s Bailey to the middle. Sends a ball. No good. And here’s James. He’ll bring it up for the Lakers. They’ve led by as many as 11 points. Lakers shooting their third and fourth free throw shots of the night. Yeah. A year ago though, Kevin, 78% conversion rate from the free throw line. So that’s a nice allaround effort. [Applause] And he can’t get the first one. [Applause] and the second free throw. Good. Jazz trail by eight. Second quarter of action. About a minute and a half played. Out of bounds. The Lakers will take possession. Well, look, plays like that are exactly why they find themselves in such a deep hole. [Applause] Lakers leading by eight. Donic outside. Hayes with the screen for Donic. Pass to Hayes. Here’s Lorravia. And again, the Lakers no good. We’re now about two minutes into the second quarter. They get it back. And here’s Anderson. Here’s Philippowski just five to shoot. Sensible misses the three. Now here is Himura. Defense is right there. Pass to James. 13 ft away. Nice jump shot. Good. James has got eight points. And watching that defensive effort right there, you wonder how much they want this game. Yeah, I got to agree. Their defensive commitment’s got to be a lot better. And Will Hardy is called timeout. He’s going to have a discussion here on the sideline. Look who it is. [Music] [Applause] And for those of you just joining us, we’re almost 2 and 1/2 minutes into the second quarter. Here’s Collier guarded by Donic. [Music] Pass to Sensible. Floats one up. Here’s Filiposki and he can’t bank that one in. Down low. Here’s Hatchima. And the dunk by Hatimura. And proving to be effective around the rim. Hakimura leaving no doubt about that one. [Applause] Quarter number two around 3 minutes gone by. Here’s Kier guarded by Donic. Collier. That’s good. and they’ve done well at taking advantage of some late defensive rotations and getting the ball in the paint. [Applause] And here is Los Angeles now. Their defense has only allowed four points in the quarter. Anic passes to James. Back to Donic. And they double up Donic. Now here’s Hayes. He’s covered by Anderson. And now the fast break. Anderson with the ball. And now the latest from our reporter David Alder. Kevin, thank you. The Utah Jazz last season became one of the first teams in the league to move their games to broadcast television. It’s a gamble, but they just about tripled their reach. And with the rapid growth in the region, they have a chance to attract new fans. And Kevin, no doubt other NBA teams are keen to see how this goes. Oh, David, no question at all. We thank you for your report. Pass to Lavia. [Applause] Now, Hatchimic [Applause] left side shoots over Collier. Balls knocked loose and aes kicks to Hatchima. [Applause] The three for Donic. Donic sticking it from way outside. And it doesn’t take much for Donic to get hot. And And once that happens, boy, he is almost unguardable. Here’s Kier guarded by Donic inside. That one’s good. The Laker lead is cut to just nine on the basket from Collier. And they’ve repeatedly probed inside in the first half, guys, and and it’s paid off. Anzo James will bring it up for Los Angeles. [Applause] Pass to Labravia. [Music] Hatimura with it. Donic right side and they double up. Donic misses the layup. He had him with that bump fake for Utah. They’ve gotten a little under 50% of their second quarter shots to find the mark. Four of nine all told. Here’s Philipski covered by Hayes. [Music] Anderson against Donic. Anderson wide open and it’s Lravio with the rebound. I’m sure he’d like to have that back. That’s a missed opportunity. Fires from deep. Doesn’t go for him. Jazz trail by nine. Here’s Philippowski. Pass to Cier. [Applause] Uses the glass to finish the lane. Collier’s got 10 points in the game. Given the size disadvantage, you have to have a lot of confidence to take that shot. Yeah, skilled player can work around the mismatch. He’s used to dealing with larger guys. And JJ Reick is called timeout. He’s ready to talk things through with the team. Here we are, Stan seeing more and more great international players in the NBA. and you’ve had a chance to coach some of the good ones as well. Well, yeah. Look, Kevin, you’re you’re right about the league now. We see every year it seems like the MVP is an international player. I had Hedo Turku is a big part of what we did in Orlando was the most improved player in the league one year and a key part of our team that made it to the finals. 610, highly skilled, very versatile guy. There are great players coming from everywhere in the world. Reeves outside. Pass to Aton. Here’s Bailey to the middle. One-on-one fast break. [Applause] Now here is George [Applause] [Music] arinan with it. Six to shoot from 20 ft out and the jumper is on the mark. Eight points for him. Here’s Reeves. Pass to Aton. [Music] Now Vincent defended by George. To the inside. Here’s Aiden. And Aiden throws it down. And it’s the way Aiden uses his body inside. It’s what allows him to get so close to the basket. Jazz trail by seven. George looking over the floor. Here’s Bailey. That ball. Nice feed that time from George. Bailey’s got six here in this quarter. Assisted buckets. Every team wants them. They show you’re running effective team offense. James wide open. LeBron James making it look easy from deep. Oh, you got to run LeBron off the ball there. And here’s George. He’s got five. Pass to Markin. [Applause] Noric in the post. Aidon’s there. Tries again. That one’s good. The Laker lead is cut down now to just six in the basket from Noric. And just a massive player. Nerkish’s combination of size and strength helps him on that offensive glass. James the pass to Vincent and again Los Angeles with the triple. Of the two offenses here tonight, you can tell theirs is just a bit more in sync. Well, I think it’s because they’re calling sets that really match up well with their personnel. Back to George. Utah needs to get off a shot here. Markin good. Matching baskets from the perimeter. An earmark of today’s game. Yeah, sometimes you get in a shootout like this, but you just hope that you can get a stop first. Eight. A screen on George. Here’s Vincent. The basket good. Vincent’s got five points so far. And that pick takes the D totally out of the equation. Yeah, you’ve got to lock and trail hard. You can’t allow him a clean look from three-pointer. Markin. Markin missing again. Lakers leading by eight to the paint. And such a physical player inside. LeBron doesn’t fear contact on the way up. The Lakers have gone three of four at the free throw line tonight. Lakers. LeBron James two shots. [Applause] That one is off. [Applause] So he comes up empty at the line. And coach, you watch Markin, he’s a perfect fit for today’s NBA, isn’t he? Yeah. A big guy who can shoot the ball, Kevin. And look, he’s learned to put the ball on the floor, go to the basket. He’s a lot stronger than people give him credit for. This guy can really play the game. The Lakers in the lead outside. Smart. Nice passing here by Los Angeles. And James gets it to go on the assist by Reeves. Reeves has got five assists in the game. [Applause] Two second difference between shot clock and game clock. Now Markinan 11 points in the game [Applause] from downtown. Hits it from three-point range. Markin’s got a couple of three-pointers in the second for Utah. Yeah, showing off that ability to stretch the floor. Seems like everyone is that first half. Absolute dynamite on offense. Yeah, and in terms of slowing him down, I think they’re going to have to change things up, give him some different looks. And as we get into this third quarter, as we’ve seen so far, neither team able to create much separation on the scoreboard yet is out there with Lowry Markin and then it’s George and it’s Bailey in at the small forward position. And that’s the group for Will Hardy as they begin the second half. Here’s George. [Music] down low. Here’s Merlin guarded by Smart. Noric setting the pick for Markin and Utah. Another three. Man, he’s just living out beyond the ark right now. What a weapon to have on the floor. Well, he’s firing away with confidence from downtown. The defense better adjusts to this and fast. [Applause] The three for Dunic. Rebound by Noric. Noric has got four rebounds now tonight. Out to the wing. Here’s Bailey. The offensive rebound. Markin can’t cash in from close range. And so Donic will bring it up for Los Angeles. Oh, James flashes in the alleyoop. And how about the out of this world athleticism? LeBron can finish just about any alley hoop with authority. Here’s George. [Music] Third quarter of basketball about a minute and a half in. Connects from three-point range. George has got eight points. Well, the defense gave that away. He’s a skilled shooter who you have to contest at the ar James [Applause] outside pass to shot clock at five bank shot no good Jazz trail by three here’s George trying to get open and that one’s good George has got five points now in the quarter and nice touch inside. George can finish from all three levels and when you are as good a shooter as he is, you have to have the confidence to take that shot. Might not always fall. Yeah, it’s one of those heat check shots and heat check is a synonym for bad shot. And there’s the bucket for Markin and stayed aggressive on offense. Markin’s always looking to score the basketball. This guy’s really become a refined scoreer for Los Angeles. They’ve gone two of five shooting here in the third quarter. Aton up top. He’s guarded by Noric. And here’s Toxic from the arch. And the answer from Luca. Yeah. And when you’re hit, you got to hit back. A bit of a duel going on between that. came down the floor looking for immediate payback. And Will Hardy is called timeout, looking for a breather and maybe just one or two things to talk about. On the court now, you’re hyped. Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] Third quarter here and three minutes have come off the clock. Nurkitch dishes to Markin. Pass to Bailey. Nurkitch. A screen on Reeds. Five on the clock on the wing. George and that’s a foul called on Lowry Markin. That’s foul number two for him. [Applause] Lakers have gone three of six in the third quarter. 50% from the field. Back to Donic over George. Donic converts inside. Guys, you never know what you’ll see when you’re watching Luca Donic. His offensive creativity is through the roof. Marking it in in the corner. [Applause] Launches it. Haley misses. Lakers leading by three. Now here’s James. 17 points in the game. Reeves can’t hit. outside. George broke loose and stolen by LeBron. Now the Lakers on the break. James all the way to the rack. I mean, who needs teammates when you can do all that work yourself? LeBron looking spry and you George with the ball. 10 points for him. Knocked away. Markin finds George. [Applause] Can they get it? He scores his fifth field goal. He’s taking nine shots to get those fouls. And for the defense, that is a heart sinking moment when you see him that wide open from beyond the arc. Oh, in position. Here’s Muer guarded by Smart and stolen by James. An even threeon-ree break. Here’s Eightton. And Aton throws it down. And the passing instincts of James are just unreal. He has that great sense for when and where to send the ball. [Applause] And so George will bring it up for Utah. Trailing by four. Pass to Mail. George with a screen on Smart. Mail passes to Markin. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Mky over Smart. A nice shot by Mail. Mail’s got his first two points. And you got to like the vision for marketing. I mean, a big man who knows how to find the open man. And what I love about marketing, he takes care of the basketball. And that’s a result of being patient, playing smart, and just generally getting his points within the flow of the offense. And it’s Donic missing. Not really what we expected. You know, he wants that one back. Here’s George. No good off the front iron. You you almost have to assume he’s going to knock those down when he is that open. George against Donic. Over George. A Donic very comfortable down low. And really Donic can score from any area. His arsenal is very impressive. [Music] from outside the arc. Here’s George. Second shot opportunity and he sinks the layup. George has got 10 points in just the second half. And that’s a lesson for the D. Fight harder on the glass. Yeah, they need to pay attention to the details. Second chance points are back breakers. Noric with the steel to the inside. It’s tipped. Stolen by Smart. James on the drive. Utah with the rebound. Noric has got five rebounds tonight. Maryloop passes to Bailey with a tie. No good there. Good work defensively by Reeds. Lakers have gone seven of 13 in the third quarter so far. Just above 50%. LeBron outside this one for three. Good and smart. Gets the assist. James has got seven points here in this quarter. Oh, filling it up. James doing it all. [Music] George against Donic. George passes to Markin. Noric setting the pick for Markin. They get it back. Here’s Miley. Oh, good on the three. Defensive breakdown there and they got lucky. He’s not going to miss too many of those. James kicks to Eightton. Rebounded by the Jazz. Markin’s got his fifth rebound in this one. Outside George. LeBron against Markin. Noric. A screen on James. Just five on the clock. Here’s Markin. Second chance shot and it’s good on the layup. Markin’s got 22 points. Look, you got to keep Markin out of the paint. He’s just too big on that block and imposes his and JJ Reick is called timeout. He wants a minute here to get things straightened out with this team. You know what time it is, J. Right now for your break. [Music] So Utah ends up going with the new brewery. Go. [Applause] [Applause] There’s 126 left to play in the third. Now Vincent, he’s got five. Shoots over Collier. Lands soft on the front of the rim and drops. Vincent’s got seven points in the game. Well, he got to his spot in the mid-range and that’s a shot he’s going to make more often than not. And the shot goes down. They didn’t have much of a problem getting the ball into the post that time. And here is James. 22 points for him. Oh, LeBron’s just too strong inside. A monster down low. LeBron James the rare package of skill, size, and athleticism. Here’s Sensible. Pass to Kier. Here’s Hrix. No scoring in this one. Anderson outside. Gets it to go from beyond the arc. Well, coaches will take that any day. Don’t pass up open threes like that. [Applause] 35 seconds left in the third quarter. LeBron passes to Labraia. Oh, and there’s the alleyoop. Whoops. Anticipated the pass. Turnover. Pass to Hendris and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. That’s on LeBron James. Yeah, the defender all over. The Jazz have shot 80% from the line tonight. Going four to five so far. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] The first one falls. [Applause] [Applause] and it’s tied up with that one. LA’s gone two of five with a three-point shot since coming out of the break. Now here’s James guarded closely. Three-pointer. What a play. He simply trains it in. Well, he really just helps tie this team together. They know they can count on him to set him up. And it’s been a very competitive game so far. As we get rolling here in quarter number four taking a look at Los Angeles. We’ve got Ruie Hatchima. Luca Donets out there with James. Then it’s Jackson Hayes. And it’s Lorravia in at the three spot. Oh, an aggressive move and fantastic finish. Trying to send a message with that slam, I think. James in the post. Pass to Labraia. And it’s a great finish. Oh my. And there’s the slam dunk to finish it off. [Applause] Jazz trail by three. Here’s Cier Anderson outside. Here’s Sensar. Pocket six. Pass to Cure. Three-pointer. Drills it from outside. And really after trailing the entire game, they’ve got to be feeling good about evening things up. Yeah, guys, they’ve shown a ton of character in making this comeback. Now, they’ve got to finish the job. Passes to count. Anderson with the ball and trying for the go-ahehead basket. It doesn’t go in on the wing. James. Good work there as it goes and the Lakers lead by two. Yeah, nothing too fancy. Just getting the job done when they need to make every possession count. And so it’s Utah here with the ball. Here’s Collier as to Sensible. It’s the three-point pop. And that kick takes the knee totally out of the equation. Yeah, you’ve got to lock and trail hard. You can’t allow him a clean look for that. And here’s Donic from the arc. The rebound by the Jams. Close to making the defense pay for the lack coverage that time. Here’s Hrix. Pass to Anderson. out to the right wing. Here’s Sensible Ball. James cover. It’s good. And now a three-point Utah lead. If you came to watch a scoring battle, you’re in the right place. Yeah. And how great have these offenses been for these teams tonight? Just fantastic execution. And over two and a half minutes in the books here in the fourth. [Applause] Donic outside, fires the three, hands it from downtown. Donic has got the game tied up here for the Lakers. And we know Donis has limitless range, but for him it’s about becoming more consistent from deep. Here’s Cure guarded by Donic. And it’s Cure missing. Los Angeles has gone one and two from three-point range here in the fourth. Pass to Labraia. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. Out to Donic. Lets it go from deep and another three for the Lakers. And guys, he’s been a one-man air raid coming at them time and time again. Well, what I love about his three-point shooting is the spacing that he’s adding. It makes things a lot easier for everyone else. Here’s Hendricks. And there’s the whistle. Illegal screen. Well, that one stings in a game where every possession counts. He just gave one away. Markin. He’s checked in for the Jazz. Marcus Mars checked in for the Lakers. Lakers leading by three. James up top and James throws it down hard. How about that? Flying high to send that one down. And you know what? When you’ve got the athleticism and explosion of a player like that, bigger guys are still at your mercy. Here’s Hendricks and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. Breaking down some numbers here. for the hustle stats for the Lakers. Well, what I like is not only have they been forcing turnovers, they’ve been capitalizing on those opportunities. And also, guys, they pushed the ball and been able to score in transition, trying to take advantage of playing in the open floor as often as possible. [Applause] The first free throw is good. And teamwide, they’ve been terrific from the line here. Just one of those nights when the confidence has spread from one player to the next. Looking at who’s out there now for the Jazz. Noric checked in for Philippowski. Mail comes in for Anderson. And it’s Keante George in for Kier. [Applause] No good on the second free throw. That one miss was huge. He had a chance to turn this into a onepossession game. And James with the basket on the assist by Donic. James has got six in the quarter. Just a super unselfish guy. Donic is all for getting his guys going. Enjoys setting the table. [Applause] Outside George to the middle. There’s Nkachic and finished off by Nkitch. And those plays can make a difference in a game like this. Well, you know it’s going to fire up Greg. Everybody on that bench and guys, you cannot allow that in a close game. You have to make it harder than that. Lakers leading by four. Donic looking it over. Off target from outside. Utah’s gone two of three in the fourth quarter from long range. Good shooting so far. Here’s Hendricks guarded by Smart. Three-pointer. Markin. Buries it from three-point range. And now just a one-point Laker lead. And so it’s Himura who brings up the ball for the Lakers. [Applause] goalending guys. So that’s a free basket right there. That’s a very close call. I’m sure he thinks it’s a clean block, but looks like it was on the way down. And Utah making a change here. Bailey’s checked in. And then for Los Angeles, LeBron, he’s checked in for Rui Himura. And it’s Austin Reeds in for James. [Applause] on the free throw. No good. Jazz trail by three. [Applause] Here’s Bailey and it is flushed down with a nice jam. Okay, two hands for safety. That’s That’s what they say, right? That’s right. He was ultra safe with that dump. No question. Lakers have gone seven of 10 shooting the ball since the start of the fourth quarter. On the wing, Donic. Back to Smart. Pass to LeBron. Now Reeds James kicks to Smart. Down to five on the shot clock from the arc. Los Angeles with another miss. Utah’s gone three or four from downtown here in the fourth. Here’s Myler. He’s defended by Reeds. Pass to George to take the lead and he lays it up and in. Neither team here in the fourth generating a lot of separation. Yeah, it’s been a close one. Five times the lead has switched hands thus far. Here’s Donic and JJ Rick is called timeout. He’s clearly intent on wanting to lock in and make sure everyone’s on the same page. [Applause] Payton. He’s checked in for the Lakers. It’s time now to hear from our Hall of Fame reporter, David Aldridge. What’s the latest, David? Hey guys, JJ Reick’s message with his team was simple. Now, he’s not happy with the perimeter defense. He told them, “We have to hustle more out to the three-point line because they look real comfortable out there.” Now, I want you contesting every three they put up. We’ll see if that intensity increases on D, guys. Okay, David. Thanks. [Applause] Anch passes to Reeves. Outside Smart [Applause] and the Lakers with another miss. Utah leading outside George. Pass to Markin. [Applause] Nurkage. Setting the pick for Markin. He wants to get it to Nurkitch and does. And it’s out of bounds. The Jazz able to retain possession here. Five to shoot. Here’s Bailey. He gets hauled in by Los Angeles. Eightton’s got his fifth rebound in this one. [Applause] Eightton a screen on George. The three for Donic and the three ball is good. Donic has got 16 here in the second half. How about the poise from Donic right there? He he ups the Annie when it’s a critical possession here in the game. Markin against James Markin. Good. Markin’s got it all tied up now for Utah. And that’s right in his wheelhouse looking to make an impact when it counts. Well, you know this is when they lean on him and he delivers with a much needed score. And here’s James outside. Score the basket for his 10th make. 10 for 12. 83% accuracy. And when you need a big score, you want LeBron to get the ball. And that’s why Utah’s gone three of four from downtown here in the fourth. Pass to Bailey. and he goes in for the dunk. And guys, I don’t know that this is the time for that kind of flare in a close game. The important thing is to get the two points, not necessarily the dramatic. Oh, come on. He had to go for that, didn’t he? My goodness. And looks like the illegal pit was set. Yep, that’s right. That’ll get their attention. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. Look, you can get away with a lot in terms of screens today, but you can’t make it that obvious. 157 left to play in the final quarter. It out to Markin. Who’s back up? It’s held in by Los Angeles. Outside Smart Reeves outside [Applause] goes up on the top of the key and it’s Donic that time on the assist by Reeves. Well, we talk about ice in his veins a lot, but this guy personifies that. What a clutch shot. And so Markin will bring it up for the Jazz. It’s a three-point game. [Applause] Nerkage, a screen on James. Three-pointer marketing. There’s Nerkage putting it right back in. And the swag Nerk plays with. It’s infectious. He He doesn’t back down from taking a big shot. Donic. That one. No good. Great D that time for Merkich. Outside marking it a screen on LeBron unloads. It’s in big time basket and a big time moment. Yeah. Don’t you just love to see a player embrace that kind of pressure. And JJ Reick is called timeout. Pivotal moment in this game. He’s not taking any chances. He’ll call time. [Applause] The Lakers with the ball. Oh, Eaton in position. Money and the impressive reach of a lob it up his way and he’ll take care of the rest. And Will Hardy is called timeout. The magnitude at this juncture in the game clearly warranting a timeout. [Applause] There’s 47 seconds left in the fourth quarter of this one. Here’s Bailey. Releases one from three. confident and composed on the three-point shot at a critical junction. Donic against George and the rebound by Noric. And you know they wanted that one to go down. Yeah, they really wanted that bucket to go. You can’t get discouraged. And you can trust an efficient shooter like Markin in the clutch. He’s going to get a good look. And JJ Renick calls timeout here. And he knows there’s no room for mistakes and wants everyone on the same page. 24 seconds left here in the fourth quarter. Reeves outside. No good on the triple and they commit an intentional foul. We’ll see another one of those so they can get into the penalty. Honestly just doing what they have to in order to get the basketball back. 16 seconds left in the fourth quarter and that’s an intentional foul. Second personal foul. 13 foul at the line for the Jazz. George two shots. First free throw is good and that puts them up by five. Name a type of shot Ketore George can hit more than capable of scoring at all three levels. Taking care of business at the line and he adds some cushion to their lead. Outside smart to end the run. Rebound Utah.
