of Paul’s return. Um, not bad. Not bad bad. I think again a little bit of of um, uh, I think the shot um, getting to a little clearance on some of the stuff was was a little bit um, out of rhythm, but I thought he had some really did a really good job of defensive rebounding and also as soon as he got it, he was throwing ahead and we were getting going in transition. So, pretty good. Pretty good, I think. Yeah. What did some different stuff at Harden to try to slow him down, including the box at one, but felt like Quinton was a big part of the the solution there, I guess. What did you see out of him on both tonight? Yeah. Um, obviously he, you know, we kind of got to, you know, we’re we’re trying to figure out who’s the best lineup and, uh, the offense was really bad in the first half. So I I wanted to immediately give us a chance to to get scoring a little bit. So that kind of left Q to guard him. Um and then ended up being being pretty good and he was he was digging in and fired up to guard him and working really hard and and uh we did try to protect him with a few different coverages at times, but he he did a good job. Drummond Drummond with 14 and 18. Sorry. Drummond with 14 and 18 in about 38 minutes, I guess. When did you realize that he was going to be someone you could rely on a lot more than you did last year who just looks like sort of a different player right now? Um, I don’t know to be honest. I don’t I don’t know when I realized it, but I think he’s played um well, he kind of played his way into this a little bit, right? And I had him uh behind Bona and I kind of had them sharing a bit, you know, alternating, you know, but I mean I think I mean obviously Bona’s out so there’s not much decision or choice and then they got a big huge center out there so he’s he’s got to go and and uh he did I thought he did a great job holding up with his energy and and he made some he made some really good defensive decisions and he rebounded the heck out of it, you And what went into the decision to go with with Barlo and Walker as your backups and and not Janai? Just kind of where we’re at at the moment. I I think that that is evolving as well, but that’s where we are at the moment. Yeah. What are we looking at in a in a big picture perspective with the season that the kind of season that Tyres is putting together so far? Well, I don’t know. I don’t know if I um think about that at this particular time. And I think that, you know, what I talked about before the game was like that that was pretty evident tonight where you got to like go and the minutes are going to be 40, right? And you know, you you’re going to have to carry a bunch of load and you’re going to have to figure it out and whatever whatever’s going on, right? And and again, I just liked tonight that he he he got a lot of variety again, right? He did he wasn’t maybe last game it seemed like you know this is not very kind to say but dribbling in circles looking for a shot tonight he was getting some in transition he’s playing some pick and roll getting downhill he was coming off screens he you know there was there was there was a there was a bunch of variety and that comes from him being a good play caller as well right to not not just just settle in and and run some stuff run some different stuff mix it up a little bit and it gets hard sometimes when the pressure’s on and they’re chasing you around and all that stuff to to be able to settle in and do that. But he did a great job of that tonight. Jared only played five minutes in the first half, I guess. What did you kind of see his stent? And maybe uh pretty pretty hard to judge really. I think um I think uh you know, we were just we were just in a situation where we were trying to get him in and maybe wasn’t the greatest time, but that’s where we ended up. Right. I didn’t I didn’t love the combination I threw him in there with. Um, so not not pretty hard to judge. Yeah. I guess like was there a thought of throwing him in in the second half or Yeah, there there was. Yeah, there was. And I just think we ended up we ended up with, you know, running the queue, VJ, Tyrese, riding that train pretty much all the way. We just we needed every every ounce of what those guys were giving us and they they seem to have the energy to do it. What what are some of the next steps now for Paul as you continue to reaclimate him both in games but also I’m not sure to be honest with you. I I think again we’re probably at a status of we need to see how he is tonight and tomorrow and then go from there. Yeah. You mentioned it before, but it seems like Trenton again maybe helped you organize offensively a little bit especially late in the game. I guess what did you make of his stint there at the end? Well, I like this stint tonight because um you know, we just sat down yesterday and I talked to him about being much more energetic, right? Like like you can he can like I keep telling him and you guys, he can do a lot of stuff, right? But he needs to do what he needs to kind of make sure he’s doing it at a a pace and with some speed and some energy at both ends. And I thought that’s what he did tonight. He took it in there to the basket with some force, some decisiveness. We needed those. and I thought he was playing really hard at the other end. BJ made VJ made some big plays for you guys in the fourth quarter. I guess what did you just kind of make of his overall night and just the maturity that he continues to kind of show through the early part of the season? I had a real up and down um emotional night with him. I thought he was I thought he was out of a lot of plays. I was getting I got on him pretty good at halftime. I thought he was being unassertive. He had lanes to drive and wasn’t taking them. When he did, he took them slowly. Um, but he made some huge plays down the stretch. Ran down a long rebound, hit a big three, like played some great D. Like he made he made some he made some plays that I’m not sure anybody else we got can make. All right. So, that’s huge for him to hang in there, take a little stern coaching, and keep on playing and make some plays at the end. Yeah. With Paul, especially that first stint, that first stint he was out there, he looked like he was trying aggressively to find his shot. How much of that is something that you emphasized with him going in and how much of that is just him finding his way naturally you think? Yeah, I mean I think it probably occurred that he didn’t he hit his first three right off the bat. First possession hit a three. It pro that probably fed into it a little bit. I did I I was debating whether we would run some stuff for him or but we didn’t. We just decided to see what would see what would happen. And um you know he he got some opportunities. I don’t again I didn’t Nah I mean those he’s he was getting to some spots that he probably going to make those shots but not quite ready to yet. Yeah. Thanks coach. All right. Thanks everybody.
