SIT JAXSON DART FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR? | NY Giants Rumors

Yo, what’s going on everybody? You’re watching Giants Now by Chat Sports. I am your host, Marshall Green. Not at the studio today. It is my off day this week, but still wanted to get you guys a video surrounding the New York Giants. And this is why you subscribe because no matter where we are, no matter what we’re doing, when there is news or rumors to talk about with this football team, we’re to get you the information that you need ASAP. So, if you love the Giants and you want multiple free videos every single day, hit that big red subscribe button and help us inch closer to our goal of 100,000 subscribers. All right, let’s dive into it. Yesterday, we put out a video following the news that Jackson Dart was going to be ruled out for this Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. I tweeted it out. I put it on this channel. And there were a lot of people that were responding that one, this isn’t news, and two, that the New York Giants should hold Jackson Dart out for the remainder of the season. And I’ve been seeing that a lot everywhere. I saw, I think it was Rich Eisen on his show talking about Jackson Dart should be held out of game action by the New York Giants for the remainder of the season. He and others point to the fact that we’ve already seen what we needed to see from Jackson Dart. And since it’s a lost season and since the New York Giants are in play to be the first team eliminated from the playoffs this weekend, a lot of people believe it is in their best interest to sit Jackson Dart out. Do not risk further injury, continue to let him rehab from this concussion. Those are things that I am hearing. So before I share my opinion on what the Giants should do with Dart, I just want to hear from you. Do you think the Giants, when Jackson Dart is 100% healed from his concussion, should they keep him out for the remainder of the season or should they have him return to game action? I want to hear from all of you in the comments section. For me, it’s it’s pretty simple. If Jackson Dart does not have a concussion, if Jackson Dart does not have any increased likely likelihood of having another concussion, I guess what I’m trying to say is if he is 100% healthy, there is no greater chance or risk of reinjury. And if he’s able to play football, he should play football. Look, I understand everyone’s thoughts. I hear everyone’s thoughts and I listen with an ear of trying to understand and not respond. And I do understand the thought that Marshall, the Giants, aren’t making the playoffs. Marshall, there is no reason for Jackson Dart to continue to play because there is no more chance of this team making the playoffs. And what I would say to that is, was there ever a chance that the Giants were going to make the playoffs when they were 0 and3 before they turned to Jackson Dart and they benched Russell Wilson? I I just don’t agree and I can’t really come to terms with why Jackson Dart should be held out of game action if he’s no longer hurt, if he no longer has a concussion, if he no longer has a greater chance than he would have prior to the concussion when it comes to suffering another concussion. These are valuable reps. Every time Dart steps on the field, it is an opportunity to get better. It’s an opportunity to go through different circumstances and it’s an opportunity for him to grow as a player. I immediately go to this that game-winning drive that he put together against the Denver Broncos where he was able to punch it in from inside the five line where with his feet diving for the end zone to give the Giants the lead uh before their international player pathway program kicker missed the PAT and could not extend the game to three and they inevitably lost. I don’t want the next time that Jackson Dart goes through a game-winning drive opportunity to be next year where the stakes are going to be higher and there is a potential playoff birth on the line or a potential huge prime time game where the Giants can take a lead in the standings or close the gap between those standings. I guess what I’m trying to say is I don’t want Jackson Dart to lose out on these opportunities. You go back to that game-winning drive, it was clunky, it was messy, it didn’t look good, it looked like a rookie quarterback going through that type of environment, that atmosphere, and that situation for the first time. And I want that to happen again this year. And I want Jackson Dart to be able to put together another fourth quarter comeback where he has to lead the troops down the field in a timely fashion where he can’t turn the ball over. I want Jackson Dart to go through all these opportunities. I want him to face all of these tests and I want him to get better from it. The best way to learn, the best way to grow as a player is to play. He already sat. He sat his three games. He got those mental reps. And if he isn’t getting better by being on the field at the end of the season, like in life, if you don’t get better, you get worse. And I know that’s kind of black and white to say, but Jackson Dart needs these reps. He’s had an amazing rookie season. Let’s not get that misconstrued. I think everybody has been excited and pumped up and ready to declare him the franchise quarterback like I am. But there is still a long way to go for him. There are still so many different looks he can see on defenses, so many different opportunities and chances and moments and critical situations that he could go through for the remainder of this season. So, no, I don’t think the Giants should bench and hold Jackson Dart out of action for the remainder of the season. like if he is healthy, if he’s able to play, and there’s no greater risk of injury than there was prior to the concussion, no, the Giants should not sit down Jackson. And again, I hear everyone’s point of view. I’m just sharing mine. I think it would be a lost opportunity for the Giants to have Jackson Dart sit from the side for the remainder of the season. These last games are so critical. Like I go back to Eli Manning’s last uh rookie season. He got better and better and better and he had some big-time moments at the end of games where he was able to rally the Giants from behind and put together game-winning drives that he talks about put him in an opportunity to be ready for the next opportunity. And I don’t want the first time Jackson Dart or the second time Jackson Dart goes through something critical to be next season. Face those demons now. face those opportunities now. Overcome those challenges now. So when it’s 2026 and it’s week one and you got Scataboo next to you in the shotgun and you got Malik Neighbors out there with another top wide receiver, we’re ready to rock and roll. And it’s not well Dart is now just going through those times with the No, go through them now. I I just can’t agree that it is in the best interest for the Giants and in the best interest for Jackson Dart to sit. He still needs to learn how to win games. This team still needs to learn how to win games. And look, I don’t really believe in the culture wins that carry over, but I do think it’s a little bit different when you have that rookie quarterback and you have somewhat of a core that you’re going to be returning next year. So, for me, put him out there, let him go through these moments, let him grow, let him be a rookie, let him learn how to protect himself, let him go out there when the bullets are flying. learn when to slide, learn to win. Like continue to learn. He’s only played seven games in the NFL before, right? He sat three, he played seven, and the Giants are two and nine. That’s 11. And he missed this last one. Like, let the kid go out there and sling it. He wants to play. He put out an Instagram post saying, “I’m returning soon.” Like, let him roll. Let him get out there and let him lead our New York Giants. And for all people, well, we need to improve draft position. Yeah, I I hear that. I’m not in that camp this year. Last year I was. I think every opportunity and every circumstance is different. I want Jackson Dart to learn how to win games. I want him to build confidence. I want him to get better as a quarterback, progress as a leader and lead this franchise in some sort of positive direction as the season comes to a close. Now, look, the last game of the season when everything is lost, maybe I can hear you. The second half of the last game of the season, sure. But right now, when he comes back next week on Monday night against the New England Patriots, go out there and play if you’re ready. If you want to hold him out one more game to give him that extra bow week, maybe I can hear that. But when he is ready to to return, when he is fully healthy, when he doesn’t have a concussion and he’s out of the concussion protocol, let the kids spin it. That’s my take. Appreciate everybody for tuning in. Just wanted to share my thoughts. Um, you guys have been sharing yours and I understand it. I’m just not on that side right now. Play Jackson dart. Let’s go.

  1. Sit him – period. The longer he can go between concussions, the better. This kid is brilliant, the real deal, and risking him for no good reason should get the HC fired.

Besides, losing out is the plan. Maybe you can't say it, but it's true. A win now is actually a net negative. Get the lowest pick you can, parlay that into a haul of higher picks, and rebuild this franchise around Dart.

Rebuild around Dart, don't put his future at risk for nothing.

  2. My point exactly! Sit Dart out until next season! In the meantime, clean house! Makes no sense to put him back in and we're 2-9! Let him heal and watch until next season and rehab Dart!!!

  3. While you make a point, he has had 4 concussion diagnosis. Concussions are cumulative. One more could end his career . Remember David Webb? Done in his 2nd yr. You want that for him?

  4. No Marshall this team needs to get better offensive lineman to protect his ass this lone ain't doing that. Marshall this team don't care anymore the season is over and they all know it don't risk Jaxson getting injured with this piss poor line Marshall

  5. As long as they are not rushing him through recovery. I've recoursed my opinion a bit considering your point. I originally thought to bench him out of concern for his health, but that's playing it too safe I think. It's football. And this guy needs as much experience as he can can, especially since his mistakes at this point in the season don't have high costs.

  6. even tho the o-line has been playing the best it has in years. i would sit him for the rest of season. now, if he had some weapons to throw to maybe i would consider the reps, but he's gonna be running for his life the rest of the season.

  7. Yes, I agree with you if he is 100% with no issues… He is QB#1 and should start and deserves that right, because he is the better QB and saving him for later and that attuited and that and type of judgement has got the Giants to the record they have now…. I hate the Giants leadership and this stinking organization…. They could F-UP A CUP OFF COFEE…!!! I am a loyal Giants fan that is sick of John Mara and the rest of the owners, I absolutely hate that analytically nut job bust king loser Joe Schoen and Mike Kafka has been calling the plays all season, so it was not all Daboll… He is better than Daboll, but most of the Giants fan would have been better Head Coach then Daboll…! Bowen can't coach at a peewee football level and has no business in the NFL…

  8. 1:35 You shared your opinion yesterday saying that Dart should play because the games would be boring without him. No concern for his health or for the Giants moving forward, just your entertainment.

  9. Great idea . Every year once Dart gets a concussion make him sit out the rest of the year and keep him in bubble wrap.
It doesn’t make a difference whether you’re a good team or not,, QBs get concussions and they play when they’re healthy.

  10. There needs to be perspective on the giants recent history. It can be traced back to the firing of Jerry Reese. Dave Gettleman is hired, a 2nd time GM with giants history from 1998-2012, and brings Pat Shurmur, a 2nd time HC with an offensive background. Saquon, a RB, is controversially drafted 2nd overall, with QBs like Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson on the board. Yet he becomes the face of the franchise and wins OPOY, but the giants go 5-11. Gettleman and Shurmur swing on another controversial pick Daniel Jones, 6th overall, because he had a good senior bowl, coached by Daniel Cutcliffe, physically looked the part and had similar mannerisms to Eli, but he had a mediocre college career at Duke, which is known for its basketball program. Despite this Jones had a decent rookie year with promise (with more playing time than Dart and was drafted with higher capital) and seemed to just need to clean up the fumbles. With a record of 9-23 however, Shurmur is gone and enters Joe Judge with a Patriots background and special teams, envisioned to be "our John Harbaugh". Jones regresses for the next 2 years and deals with a strange nagging neck injury that no one really knew anything about. With a 19-46 record Gettleman retires in January 2022, and Judge's 10-23 record is fired the next day. 10 days and 7 more days later, a "thorough" search is completed and Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll are hired. The "Buffalo duo" comes downstate marking a giants first where there's no previous ties of the GM to the organization. Joe Schoen, a 42 year old young savant was credited with the Bills' quick rebuild and was seen as the next Les Snead/John Lynch/Howie Roseman. He's the guy who will fix the cap space mess Gettleman put us in. To make sure that really works let's copy the Eagles further and hire Brandon Brown from them. Daboll was his buddy who made Josh Allen "Josh Allen" and could easily do the same to Jones. Ironically, one of Schoen's first moves was declining Jones' 5th year option. The 2022 season was improbable and magical, Giants go 9-7-1 with a playoff win knocking off the 13-4 Vikings. Jones becomes the first quarterback in NFL history to have at least 300 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and 70 rushing yards in a single playoff game. Schoen has to eat his own mistake and rewards Jones' definition game manager 15 pass touchdown year (4 games with 0 touchdowns at all) with 4/$160 million slotting him at 7th highest paid QB. Saquon, who everyone knew was the reason for the success (3rd in rush per game, 4th in yards, 8th in TDs), and was the face of the franchise, got the franchise tag. 2023 and 2024 the team loses 3 more games each year, gradually and inexplicably letting players walk for free and perform better elsewhere, All-Pros like McKinney, OPOY Saquon to the Eagles, Julian Love, Ben Bredeson, Sterling Shepard, trading away Leonard Williams. This is only heightened by a first ever off season hard knocks celebrating the Giants 100th anniversary, embarrasing and exposing themselves completely especially with the Saquon situation. The O-line gives up 85 sacks in 2023, 2nd most for an NFL season of all time, including 11 sacks against the Seahawks. Bobby Johnson was fired after the 2023 season and has the division rival commanders o-lines ranked 7th and 10th for the last 2 seasons. Schoen's drafts and FAs get incrementally worse, flushing out Gettleman's roster and is able to get 1 pro-bowl player by an alternate spot in Malik Nabers, and Brian Burns at the cost of Leonard Williams and creating a void in the run game which still hasn't been fixed (29th, 27th, 31st). In fact, John Mara with his tail between his legs impromptu came to Quest field and told reporters he was running out of patience especially with the defense. Schoen and Daboll get another year, where they have arguably their worst FA of all (Wilson, Adebo, Golston, Holland, Hudson, Forsythe) (and somehow Schoen is conned to pay so much for players that no one else would like Darius Slayton) makes sure the camera is rolling when Daboll finally gets "his guy" (as if they didn't win a playoff game with him and was their reclamation project since day 1 only reinforced by the $160 million contract they gave him), to paint the target that it was Daboll and not Schoen's choice to draft him (Schoen and Brown wanted the 5th rounder who just went 4/16 for 47 yds). Another terrible draft spearheaded by the regime's 4th top 7 pick in 4 years that was again lauded as a generational prospect in Abdul Carter, only to have character issues, quitting and jogging on plays, and having 0.5 sack in 11 games. Despite the declining performance season over season and Mara's criticism, Shane Bowen was retained, and a couple of assistant coaches were hired like Marquand Manuel in the secondary, but nothing to move the needle. The giants extended Darius Slayton of all players for $39 million (same guy they gave a pay cut to), their Long Snapper, and Greg Van Roten. The giants inevitably begin with a 0-3 start, including a 37-40 blown lead, with an opening drive by James Hudson (the big money FA swing tackle because Andrew Thomas is injured when he looks the wrong way) having 4 penalties in 6 snaps, and an abysmal Q4 20 points given up by Bowen and a SNF 22-9 game at MetLife where the "best player" Malik Nabers goes 2/7 for 13 yards, without a 1st down or a single 1st half reception. Dart is now the starter after 3 games when the intent was to have Super Bowl Champion and long time veteran Russell Wilson who you gave $10.5 M / up to $ 21 M with incentives give your rookie QB a redshirt year. Obviously there is terrible optics of forcing an unplayable QB 2 years in a row after Daniel Jones was benched after an international game and bye week to 3rd string safety, released after his request, and picked up by the Vikings (who will receive a 3rd round comp pick for him, and the Giants will have to eat dead cap). Giants squeeze by the chargers by 3 and Malik Nabers suffers a notorious MetLife ACL tear on a hospital ball. This is part of the untouchable Ronnie Barnes' questionable recent history pertaining to injuries including notably Lawrence, Jones, Nabers, Thomas, Thibodeaux, and the most egregious Graham Gano. Graham Gano is a human operation board over the past 3 years and when is healthy has kicked 29/38 (76%) (despite him claiming he is an accurate kicker, blames the holder, and then tries to play victim by deflecting and guilting fans saying I've received death threats) and his long is 57 which doesn't cut it when Aubrey is in your division hitting 68. He is one of the few Gettleman players Schoen has kept, who he extended and made the 3rd highest paid kicker and has kept him each year. The giants signed Younghoe (also misses XPs) to replace him only to elevate the IPP Jude McAtamney (who was benched at Rutgers by Jai Patel who has a 71% kick pct in 2025), which initially looked to have no confidence from the giants staff to kick long field goals going for it on long 4th downs inside opponent territory, failing to convert with no points on the board. This became ugly when he missed 3 extra points in 3 weeks including 2 in a 1 point loss and 19 point late 4th quarter collapse loss to the Broncos. The giants did actually work out Lucas Havrisik, where the packers signed him and he kicked a 61 yard field goal in a 4 point win over Arizona. That was the same day McAtamney missed 2 XPs in the 1 point loss to the broncos and set a Packers franchise record for the longest field goal. The day after the chargers game, John Mara announced his cancer diagnosis, probably so excited that his team won by 3 points to improve to 1-3 at the cost of their most prolific player. It took 3 more double digit leads for Daboll to be fired, including the infamous broncos one (1,602 consecutive games leading by 18 points with less than six minutes remaining in the final quarter, and the Broncos were shut out until Q4) above, the Saints (Jaxson Dart turned the ball over 4 times and Giants turned the ball over 5 straight possessions tying the longest streak in the past 25 years), and the Bears (Daboll didn't go for it on 4th at the 1 yd line and then declined a defensive too many men on the field penalty which would have had second chance at the play at the 1/2 yard line in a loss by 4 points). Not only is Daboll finally scapegoated after that, but Dart is still out from that game after his 4th blue tent visit including one on TNF where Skattebo and Daboll both got fined for violating concussion protocol and John Mara had to post a statement on it since he's on the Health&Safety committee. Kafka confirmed that barring no setbacks Dart would play against the Lions, yet he had no setbacks, but failed to advance through the protocol and is now out for the game. Kafka is the interim and he has no chance to be the next HC. The offense has been Run, Run, and then try to convert difficult 3rd and 4th downs for the past 3 years. Also he's clearly never been trusted with play calling, having it in 2022, losing it to Daboll and Shea Tierney at random points in 2023, losing it completely in 2024, and then getting it back in 2025 because ownership forced him to have it. And don't forget that Daniel Jones is having a top 5 NFL QB year with Indy after he got released and joined a new offense. Just because he was the QB coach for Mahomes does not mean he was responsible for that just like Daboll and Allen. The optics of Dart potentially getting a 5th blue tent check is unbearable for cancer patient John Mara. And even if he does end up playing again this year that might be even more surprising.
