The Chiefs losses share a pretty unexpected pattern…
So, the Chiefs have a bit of a surprising trend in most of their losses as well as most of their wins. And that is they score more points than their opponents. No, seriously. In four of the five games the Chiefs have lost, they’ve scored zero points on their opening drive in the first and the second half with the lone exception being week one against the Chargers. They did score a touchdown in the second half, but sadly missed that extra point to tie it and chased that one point the rest of the game. The rest of those losses though against the Eagles, Jags, Bills, and Denver. Those were goose eggs on both of those important drives in each half. That’s why Mahomes and the coaching staff have emphasized getting things going early because the way the team is built this season, that’s their recipe for success. And for proof of that, in four of their five wins this year, they’ve scored on their opening drive in both the first and second halves with the one exception being the Commanders game when they completely took over in the third and fourth quarter. There’s a bunch of aspects that go into winning a game, but if the Chiefs end up beating the Colts on Sunday, I think we’ll look back and see there’s a pretty high chance that they scored on both of those important drives. The main trend is with the exception of the lions they’re garbage against good teams. Lack luster play calling and Mahomes wanting to play hero ball instead of taking the lay up has caused this downward spiral
