NBA LIVE! New York Knicks vs Los Angeles Lakers November 23, 2025 | 2025 NBA Season Live 2K

Heat. Heat. N. tonight. These teams have been red hot. Oh, Kev, they are both so confident right now. Tough to predict a game like this. Somebody’s going to get knocked off stride tonight. And all I can tell you is I’m here for it. So the New York starting five, the forwards are Bridges in town. Yes, Landry Shamid is out there with Jaylen Brunson and it’s Robinson in at the center position. Excellent pursuit by Towns right there. Get to work on the glass and so it’s the Knicks getting on the board first. Up top. Donic runs and covering. A nice shot by Donic. Just reliable guys. He’s just always trying to make the right play. Pass to Shamat. Back to Brunson. Makes it off the glass. Yeah, don’t be fooled by the height, guys. Brunson is a terrific finisher inside. And now Alli Leforce has something for us from the sideline. Well, earlier I spoke with JJ Reddit. Coach talked about avoiding bumping Brunson on drives. He told me, “Sometimes Jaylen moves into defenders and you can almost pull the chair if you remove yourself. Let him slip his momentum in a direction without allowing him to revert to shooting. We think it can make a difference.” Kevin, back to you. We appreciate it, Ally. Thank you. Lock at six. Donic grabs the miss. And so Donic will bring it up for LA. Reeves can’t hit. And he didn’t punish them for the weak coverage there, but they can’t count on him to continue missing. Pass to Bridges from outside the arc. It’s hauled in by Los Angeles. Reeves in the corner. Back to Donic. Now Hatchimura. The shot’s good on the assist by Donic. What a smooth catch and shoot opportunity from Ruy Hachimura. Pretty Brunson. The pass to Robinson outside Towns. Here’s Brunson and it’s Aton with the rebound. And this quarter he has clearly been off the mark. And we’ve got our 2K insider Shams Chirania on the line. Shams, what’s the story? Well guys, the Knicks look to go a little deeper down their bench this season. To that end, they signed veteran Jordan Clarkson and Gershan Yaduceli. They fortify their reserves and they hope it will bolster their roster for another deep playoff. With them in a good position. All right, Sean, we appreciate the report. Mitchell Robinson understands how to position himself and turn the lights out. makes that easy. James against Bridges and he’s off on his first shot of the game. And here’s Bridges. He’ll bring it up for the New York Knicks trailing by two. Brunson against LeBron. Now here’s Donic. He’s tightly guarded and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. It’s on Mitchell Robinson. Los Angeles shooting their first foul shots of the night here. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first one falls. What you love about Luca Donic is he’s this unique combination of size and skill. He could really play cross positionally. He makes shots at all three levels. So dangerous. That one is no good. You often hear the phrase franchise player. When you think about Luca Donuch and the amount he controls the action, the MVP level play, he is the true definition of it. And the whistle blows. It’s going to be on Luca Donuch. That is his first foul of the game. Towns looking it over. Five on the clock. Here’s Bridges. Score of the basket. Nice shot after missing his first attempt. Well, we know this. Pel Bridges has the length and hops to score inside. Nicely done. Pass to Eaton. And here’s Dix from the arc. And Muel Bridges pulls it down for the Lakers. They won their last contest that game against the Jazz. Yeah. And that one, their intensity on the offensive end was not matched by their opponent. That led to some easy buckets. Well, let’s give some credit to the coaching staff as well, recognizing the weaknesses in that defense and going after each one of them. Reeves with it. He’s covered by Shamut. LeBron outside for the three. It’s rebounded by New York. This their first look at this year’s Los Angeles squad. And you have to love it when there’s a matchup like this. Two teams that are at the top of their respective conferences going at it. And the fact that they split their two meetings last season. Does one try to get a leg up. Now flying high and throwing it down with a one-hander. One of his favorite moves right there, guys. Now here’s Brunson. Last game he had 28 points. New York moving the ball around. Shot from 12 and he nails the jumper. Brunson’s got his second basket of the night. Yeah, we talk about having a high shot IQ. Jaylen Brunson just forced shots. You want to concede the mid-range jumper? He’s more than content to take it. Reeves gets the bucket. Knicks trail by three. Bridges outside. Pass to Towns inside. Here’s Robinson and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. That one on Aton. Well, if the defense gets sloppy on Mitchell Robinson, he has the kind of length and athleticism to make him tough to guard. He throw good. Robinson Doris, as we get deeper into this schedule now, the NBA picture is starting to develop. I love it because the intensity around the league is starting to tick up just a notch. You’ve got the teams that are very much hitting their stride and the others that are still trying to figure out, hey, what’s working for us and what isn’t working for us. No good on the second. So he hits one of two. I think obviously the shot blocking skills are the first thing you think of when you think of Mitchell Robinson, but this guy is showing signs of improving on the offensive end as well. Now here’s Bridges. He’s coming off a 16-point game against the Mavericks in Dallas. So they take the lead. And he likes to get in a rhythm early. Nice triple and so Donic will bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. They trail by one. Hatachimura with a screen on heart and then Hatchima with the jam. And not a bad show for Mr. Ruy Hachimura. Get up and throw it down, young sir. And that’s a great look at that slam from our AT&T connected cam. Knicks have gone six of 12 from the field here in the first quarter. Pass to Robinson. Here’s Towns. Fades back. Reeves with the rebound to the paint and oh boy, a lot of contact there, but he gets the call and will shoot two. It’s on Mitchell Robinson. I’ll tell you, this guy can be an overwhelming force. DeAndre Aton terrific using his size to get the defender to commit. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. on the miss. He’s off on the first. I think what you like most about DeAndre Aton is probably how efficient he is on the offensive end. Now, obviously the next step, he’s got to raise his game and defensive intensity on that end of the floor. The Knicks making a switch here. Clarkson’s checked in and he sinks the second. New York’s gone just one of four from three-point range here in the first outside Towns over Eightton. And Towns the bucket on the assist from Bridges. Towns has got his second bucket. Carl Anthony Towns such a great jump shooter. Doesn’t take him any time to get set up on the wing. Donic and they double up. Donic clock is at three. James has a two-pointer. Los Angeles with another miss. You You almost have to assume he’s going to knock those down when he is that open. When LeBron’s playing days are over and GA, who knows when that’ll be. What will you remember most about his play? You know, I don’t think there’s ever been a player who came into the league with such lofty expectations and not only met those expectations, but fair to say he’s exceeded. Here’s James after Muel Bridg’s bucket. Donic outside. Score the basket. His third after five shots. Donic so skilled at getting great position inside and once he’s close folks good night and the foul on Ruie Himera that is his first foul of the game some changes for the Lakers Jackson A’s he’s checked in for Hatchima and Smart subbed in for Austin Reeds Gersule he’s checked in for the Knicks pass to town and that one Clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. The offensive skill set for Carl Anthony Towns, Greg is a seven-footer is very special to say the least. The outstanding shooting, the the post play, and he’s worked on his defense. He may never be elite at that end, but he ignites offense. The first free throw is good. Zores with his diverse offensive repertoire. Carl Anthony Towns is a matchup nightmare. Absolutely, Kevin. And the reason being, he’s right. He’s one of the greatest shooting bigs in history, but the man is a great straight line driver. Good luck checking him. Vanderbilt checked in for Los Angeles. Jake Laavia comes in for James. Well, big man that makes their free throws. Bravo. Pass to Donic. Carl Anthony Towns with the rebound. Towns has got his fourth rebound in this one. Here’s Brunson driving inside and the layup falls. Brunson’s got six. Folks, that is about Jaylen Brunson’s craftiness there. His footwork, the ability to be elusive. Smart finds Donic. And here is Vanderbilt off target from outside. And Kevin, they need to be consistent with their effort on the boards. You look at the box score and they’re at a definite disadvantage. Brunson no good. Boy, if he ever finds his footing, they’ll be in even better shape. Right now, his teammates carrying him. Vanderbilt. The pass to Donic. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. And that one’s good. Low Rabian. Boy, you allow a shooter of his caliber to get that good a look. And good night. And here’s Brunson. He’ll bring it up for the New York Knicks. Outside Towns. New York needs to get off a shot and he gets the whistle for the 3second call. These are the teams that have been really dominant in the paint so far this season. Number five, the Knicks. You know, it’s not necessarily a glamour stat, but but make no mistake, their top-notch board work has been a huge key to their success. A different look for New York. Bridges comes in for Gersh and Miles McBride subbed in for Jaylen Brunson. It does not happen too often, but boy, when Luca gets the opportunity to throw it down, he relishes it. Hayes with the steel and pushing it up. Here’s Los Angeles. Good work there as it goes. Now it’s a threepoint Los Angeles lead. And that’s how to make an impact with defense. Once the steal is made, you know they’re going to be scattered. Towns with it. Working on Hayes out to Bridges. Just five on the clock. Over in the corner. McBride. New York. No good that time either. They hold the early advantage on the glass. Executing to perfection right now offensively. I mean, in total sake. Good luck trying to stop him. Now in the corner, it’s Clarkson. Now McBride, an 11-point game for him in the win against Dallas. Towns against Donic. Puts up a deep three. Bridges misses. 5 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Bridges with the steel. Pass to Town. There’s 14 seconds left to play in the first quarter. Clarkson with the ball. Still scoreless. Pocket two. Another miss. And they desperately need a bucket at the end of one. A closely contested game so far. Los Angeles on top. They lead by three. Let’s take a quick break now and then it’s on to the second quarter after this. and getting going again here in the second quarter. Fairly close game so far. All right, we’ll take a look now at how the points have been generated so far. A scoring breakdown for the Lakers. Well, they haven’t wasted any time getting into a groove from deep, putting up and hitting a healthy amount of three-pointers thus far, and they’ve also shown dominance in the paint so far tonight. Really putting the work in down low. Austin Reeves out there with Smart. Then there’s Jared Vanderbilt. Then it’s Jake Larabia. And it’s Hayes in at the five roaming the paint. That’s who’s in the game for the Lakers. He misses the free throw. You know, DB, I heard some NBA officials talking about having a feel for the game and them drawing a line between playing aggressive and playing rough. What are your thoughts on that? You know, Kev, this is so fascinating to me because we’ve seen a reversion back to a little bit more of a physical game, but without some definitive guidelines, it makes the officials job harder. Miss and he nails the third. And the Knicks with possession here. It’s a five-point game. That’ll be game four of the six game road trip. Clarkson against Smart. His first shot coming late. A shot by Clarkson. No good. Lakers shooting well. 50% from the floor. Here’s Laabia. Goes up and lays it nice and easy. La has got the lead up to seven now for the Lakers. The Knicks shooting 43% for the game. We’re starting the second quarter about a minute gone. Bridges passes to McBride. It’s Hart on the wing. Five to shoot on the money from 12 ft away. Hart’s got his second bucket tonight. Yeah, Josh Hart a threat from the mid-range. The defense, you don’t want to let him get comfortable. That’s his spot. Come get it. Come get it. Smart passes to Vanderbilt and stolen by Hart. Here’s McBride and he floats in for the easy two. Credit the assist on that one. Great teamwork punctuated by a strong finish. Going right to the rim, which is where you want transition opportunities to end. Now here’s Smart. He gives the team some steady offense. A bit under 10 points a game. Bridges against Smart. Out to Bridges. New York moving the ball around. Pulls from the top of the key and it’s Labraia with the rebound. Lakers leading by three. Pass to Reeds and the Lakers turn it over again. Let’s take a look at the numbers for Austin Reeds. Maxi Cleba. He’s checked in for Los Angeles. Smith comes in for Jake Larabio. Landry Shams checked in for the Knicks. Knicks trail by three. And here in the second quarter of action with a hair under two and a half minutes played so far. 13 ft away. Lakers with the rebound. Now, here is Smith. And right now, he’s averaging about seven points a game. Wow. And that sort of showmanship is just deflating right now to a team trying to get back into a game like this. Ouch. Greg, that is definitely an emphasis jam. A big apostrophe or exclamation point, maybe even a question mark. Let’s check in now with our Ally Lefors who’s got a story for us. Ally, thanks. Well, this next team has grit. Jaylen Brunson said, quote, “No matter what the situation is, we are going to attack it. No matter who’s in front of us, we are going to grind.” Kevin, no quit. All right, Ally, we thank you very much. And so it’s the Lakers with it following the score by New York. Smith outside. This one for three. It’s the three-point bomb. It’s good. Smith’s got his first bucket of the game and he’s on the board for three. Start with a screen on Reeves. On the wing, Bridges. He’s defended by Reed. Bridges misses. Los Angeles leading by six. Reeves the pass to Smart. Smith outside. Smart puts the pick in for Smith. Just five to shoot. Pulls it from 20. The rebound by Yabu Sele and a fast break now for New York. And talk about putting some extra on that dunk was way over the top. Close game or not, he’s going to finish firm when he gets the space to the middle over to the wing and Hayes kicks to Cleba. Smith the pass to Hayes and Hayes throws it down. Oh, taking it to the rack with power. Hammering down the two-hand slam. Yabuselia. Screen on Reeves. Back to Bridges. Stolen by Reeves. Here’s Smart. Out to Smith. Back to Smart. Pass to Cleba. Smith in the post. defended by Nick Bryant. Reeves can’t hit. Knicks trail by six in the corner. It’s Bridges. The three-pointer off the mark. Los Angeles has gone one of three from way outside since the start of the second quarter. Hayes finds Reeves. Shot clock at five. Los Angeles needs to get off a shot here. Smith for three and a Jam with the rebound. Knicks have gotten a little under 50% of their second quarter shots to find the mark. Four of nine all told. Bridges outside. Fast to Yabusle. Now Hart defending. Here’s McBride. He gives his team some nice contributions averaging a bit over 10 points a game. Lakers leading by six. Now here’s Smart. He’s covered by Shamock. No one near Reeves as he lets it go. And again, no good by the Lakers. Nothing seems to be going down for him today. Bridges for three. New York. No good that time either. Gosh, it feels like he’s pressing a little bit and obviously playing from behind doesn’t help. Reeves outside. Pass to Smith. coming. There’s the three. Does not find the basket. His third miss. He’s made just one so far. They need a bucket in a big way here to regain some confidence. Yuelius screen on Cleveland. McBride’s shot is off. I’ll give him a ton of credit here. He is trying to make plays but nothing right now helping his team. In the corner it’s Cleba the train gets rebounded by New York. Now got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. trying to get something going. Out to Bridges and Hart has it in the corner and he makes good on the layup. Hart’s got four points this quarter. That’s all grit from Josh Hart. This guy will mix it up on the interior. And he makes that one and the Lakers lead by six. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. And so Mike Brown calls a timeout. Coach is going to talk some things over with the team. Might be seeing something to adjust. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Big group substitution here for the Lakers. Aton, he’s checked in for Hayes. Aimura comes in for Maxi Cleba. James checked in for Austin Reed. And Donic is subbed in for Smith. And then for New York Towns, he’s checked in for Yabusle. Clarkson comes in for Bridges. And it’s Jaylen Brunson in for Miles McBride. Now here’s Brunson. He has six. Art with a screen on Eightton. Eighton against Towns. Back to Brunson beyond the arc. Rebound the Lakers. Definitely a situation you want to make sure you don’t give him too good of a look. and Eightton throws it down. Elite athleticism for Mr. Eightton. No doubt on the dunk. Now here’s Brunson averaging 28 points a game and it’s not an easy feat for what this man does on the offensive end. Here’s Hart trailing here by eight and the Knicks miss again. And as the days and months go by, Greg, it still may take us some time to get over the shock of last season’s trade of Luca Donic. And we know the question marks as far as conditioning and defense that led to it, but hard to bet against a talent of his caliber. Assists like that have typified their effort today. Terrific ball movement. Pass to Brunson. Back to Hart now. Here’s Clarkson. Sinks the triple. Clarkson’s got himself going there. his first points of the game on the deep ball. That is how you respond to one three on one end. Clarkson with a tray of his own. Go ahead, Jordan. James, a screen on Clarkson. Smart kicks to James. LeBron carving out space inside. And there’s a pattern starting to take shape here. They’re working it inside and getting good shots from close range. Pass to Towns. There’s 159 left to play here in the second quarter. Back to Clarkson over Smart. Not as good in the Los Angeles leads. Cut down to just eight points with the bucket from Clarkson. Yeah, Jordan Clarkson has made some tough twos in his career and he does so there. Aimura kicks to Smart. pass to James. Fade away and a little luck that time, but it drops. James has got seven points for the quarter. And he has really come to life here after a slow start in that first quarter. And so Mike Brown calls a timeout. He’s going to have a discussion on the sideline. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Los Angeles making a switch here. Reeds is checked in. And then for New York, Mitchell Robinson’s checked in for Hart and Muel Bridges subbed in for Jordan Clarkson. Towns up top. He’s covered by Hatimura. The baseline J. Brunson no good. Lakers leading by 10. James outside. There’s 57 seconds left in the first half. And another basket for the Lakers. This guy has looked so much better in the second quarter. Really starting to find his rhythm. Runs in the pass to Robinson. Here’s Shamock. Brunson a screen on Reeves Shamut. That’s in. He’s got two made now and he’s shooting two for three. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the D. It takes incredible effort to stay connected to the hip of the offensive player. You’ve got to want to work. And that one’s good. Eighton. Don’t let DeAndre Aton get comfortable. This guy is a problem on the interior. Knicks trail by 12. Brunson outside looking to get back on track here. Towns sets the pick for Bridges. Back to Brunson. Shoots the three. And the last shot before the buzzer is off. And we finished one half of basketball. Lakers lead by 12. Now we have a moment to go courtside. Alli Leap Forest has got something for us. Well, Carl, they’re scoring pretty easily. What has to change in the second half? Our whole defensive system right now cuz it’s just not working. It’s not the coaches, it’s just his players. They’re letting them get too much fast break. They’re uh they’re doing a great job and uh they’re hitting some shots. So, we got to be able to make them miss. Best of lucking it in, guys. All right, Ally. Thank you. And folks, we’ll be back with you right after this halftime break. Hey folks, thanks for joining us. It would be an understatement to say it’s been a great half for the Los Angeles Lakers. You saw how they crashed a glass. That’s Dr. O’Neal’s School of Rebounding. I did not know there was a class. I’d enroll. Heck, who wouldn’t want to take part in that? All right. Now, still early on, but let’s check out the Western Conference standings. Check it out. Los Angeles. This team wants to do big things, shacksized things, and I got to say, they’re looking almost as dominant as Kenny. Easy, big fella. But I got to say they are making it look easy here in this early part of the season. At least that is more than enough of us. Let’s send you back to the game. Kevin Harland and crew with the second half. And with a big gap on the scoreboard, the second half begins with very different goals for these teams. One side trying to mount a comeback, one side trying to protect their lead. And so James will bring it up for Los Angeles. The 12-point lead, their biggest of the game. It’s off to Utah after this game where they’ll face the Jazz. That’ll be just one game played away from home for them. Second half underway. And here’s who Mike Brown’s got on the floor. The forwards are Bridges and Towns. Jaylen Brunson out there with Landry Shamas and it’s Robinson in at the center. And here’s Towns after LeBron James hitting the three. And they’ve got a big lead not just on the scoreboard, but really in the rebounding numbers as well. Shamat with the steel to the inside. Jacks up a three and the Knicks miss again. And they start the second half with three straight misses. LeBron kicks to Himura. Reeves outside. Six to shoot. LeBron against Bridges. The three-pointer. No good. Knicks trail by 15. It’s stolen by Hatchima. LeBron passes to Eightton and the shot goes in. Eightton’s got seven. Well, you want to see DeAndre Aton seek out the contact on the interior. Boy, he’s a big time talent. Pass to Towns. Back to Brunson. Four on the shot clock. Oh, Brunson wheeling his way in there. Finally, they get one to drop. That’s one of their first four here in the third. Here’s LeBron. Defended by Bridges. Bridges against LeBron. Reeves. And he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. Yeah, you never want to foul Reeves in the act. A very good free throw shooter. First trip to the free throw line for him in this one. And he buried a bunch of shots from the stripe in that last game. First one falls for a dependable source of offense. Austin Reeves a three-level scorer and a talented facilitator. Plus, this guy’s just got that knack for drawing fouls. And Reeves props them both. Knicks trail by 17. Bridges outside. Towns for three. Gets the three-pointer to fall. Towns has got his third basket of the night. Towns has said he believes he’s the greatest shooting big ever. That’s how confident he is. Donic kicks to LeBron. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Donic has got his sixth assist on the night. He has created some terrific opportunities for himself and really made the most of it. And so Mike Brown calls a timeout. This now will give him a chance to discuss some potential changes. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And while we’ve got a second here now, let’s take a look at the real stats, the real scores from the real NBA and find out who the steel leaders are. Fourth, Muel Bridges and of course Marcus Smart. When you’ve got those two guys out there, both with such quick hands, one hiccup by a ball handler and they’re off to the races. Out left of the wing. Brunson against Donic. Whistle blows. Bucket is good. And he’ll have a chance at the line to make it a three-point play. Well, how about that conversion by Jaylen Brunson. This has become a staple of his game. First trip to the free throw line for him tonight. On the free throw, no good. Second round pick back in 2018. Stardom wasn’t expected for Jaylen Brunson, but he’s always been a winner. You look at his physical attributes, nothing jumps out at you. But it’s all between the ears with him. The skill, the footwork, the vision. That’s what makes him elite. Now Bridges after LeBron’s three-pointer that didn’t go. Six on the shot clock. Down low. Here’s Towns. He’s hauled in by Los Angeles. Eightton’s got his fifth rebound right now in the game. And with the success they’ve had rebounding the basketball, they’re right where you’d expect him to be, firmly in the driver’s seat. That’s his third triple this half. And that’s after hitting only one before that. Donic against Brunson. Pass to Shamut. Towns at the elbow and the basket is good. And he’s got a chance here for one more at the line. individually. He’s trying to lift the team. You’ve got to love the effort, but thus far not getting over the top. And a closer look here at the scoring breakdown for the Lakers. And guys, how about the unselfishness and all about working that ball around, shifting the defense, and just seeking out the best shot. I think the other thing we’re seeing tonight is the floor spacing of this team. Boy, they are shooting the cover off the basketball all game. Here’s Reeves. Incredible numbers looking at his scoring averages. He’s currently scoring more than 28 points a game. Now here’s Donic. The kick out to LeBron. Lets the three fly. Robinson pulls it in. And here’s Brunson. He’ll bring it up for New York. Down by 15. And now let’s send it over to our courtside reporter Ally Leforce. Thanks Kevin. Teammate Josh Hart may call Jaylen Brunson the king of New York. But Brunson says, “I would never consider myself a face of the franchise, but I’m a leader of this team. That’s what I want to do and I am grateful for the opportunity. I don’t take this for granted, guys. Back to you.” Yeah, staying humble. Hey, Ally, thank you very much for the report. Now, here’s Aon after MueL Bridges missing his last shot. Back to Shamut. And here’s Brunson outside. Drops in the tray. Brunson’s got seven points here in this quarter. Ooh, finally hitting one from range. That’s his first three of the night. Donic looking it over and he can’t answer back. The three-pointer offline. Knicks trail by 12. Pass to Brunson. That one no good. Nice team from Donic. Now Reeves defended by Bridges. Reeves can’t hit. That’s a surprise. I mean, really out of character for him to miss when the defense is not right up on it. outside Towns. Out to Brunson. Brunson with another miss. And they had some boxed coverage that turned into no coverage. Reeves the pass to Donic. And here is LeBron. He’s covered by Shamoth. Here’s Aton. to end the drought. LeBron playing like a big man inside. Boy, he is just doing it all right now. And the more the ball goes through the net, the more his confidence grows. Towns a screen on LeBron. Bridges attack. Oh, when MueL Bridges saying, “Don’t sleep on my athleticism.” Some big time hops. What a great look here at this tremendous move from our AT&T Connected Cam point of view. Donic kicks to James to the middle. Stolen by Robinson on the wing. Bridges covered by LeBron. Oh, baby. Towns. The pass to Robinson. Back to Towns. And here is Shamp. Fires away from outside and it’s Aon with the rebound. Eighton’s got his sixth rebound on the night. Lets it go from 14 and it’s James missing. Knicks trail by 12. And that one’s good. Shamut. Shamut’s got six. Well, and it took a terrific effort at both ends to sustain this run. They found their composure on both ends of the floor, and that is what triggered this run. Now, here is Humer. Yes, he has seven. Three-point shooting since the half has been about as good as you could ask for. And so, Mike Brown calls a timeout, looking for a breather and maybe adjusting a thing or two. You look at James, what a contribution. Too many open looks from three. Coach has got to be into them about their perimeter defense. Heat up here. a big group substitution here for the Lakers. Hazy’s checked in for Eaton. Vanderbilt comes in for Himimeura. Jake Larabia checked in for LeBron. And Smart subbed in for Luca Donic. And the Knicks making a change here as well. Josh Hart, he’s checked in for Landry Shamut. Brunson outside. outside Towns. New York no good that time either. And close to making the defense pay for the lack coverage that time. And then to by Vanderbilt. And this is where Smart has really improved. The game’s slowed down for him. He’s playing under better control. Nice pass. Now here’s Hart. Seven points in the game. Towns against Vanderbilt. Taken away by Hayes. Reeves outside. Smart on the wing. Played in with a nice touch off the glass. Smart’s got his second basket of the night. And that’s an error by the D. You can’t give someone like Smart that kind of position inside. Vanderbilt against Towns. The put back and Robinson is right there. And those second chance points really become almost like bonus points when you can get them. Reeves the pass to Smart. Shoots over Bridges. Rebounded by Hart. And so it’s hard who brings up the ball for New York. 15-point game. Pass to Towns. Robinson sets a screen for Towns. Out to Brunson. Good. And the assist goes to Towns. Towns has got three assists in the game. On the wing, Reeves. Brunson covering. Vanderbilt setting the pick for Reeves. And a lot of contact on that one. So he’ll shoot two here. It’s on Mitchell Robinson. And Reeves. welcomes the contact on his way up, especially when he’s that close to the basket. On the night, he’s gone two for two at the stripe. Free throw good. Reeds a different look for New York. Here, he’s checked in for Robinson. Clarkson comes in for Carl Anthony Towns. And Miles McBride subbed in for Jaylen Brunson. And so he makes both from the line. We’re still waiting for that first miss from the line this half. Now McBry pass to Yabulele. Now McBry. Yule the screen to the paint. Nice pass. Lent him to the rack perfectly for the layup. Yale has got his second basket of the game. Smart against Clarkson. Smart deciding where to go with him and the three off target. Knicks trail by 12. Bridges outside. In the corner, it’s Clarkson down to five on the shot clock. Goes up on the wing. Vanderbilt with the rebound. Los Angeles leading by 12. Here’s Lorabia and Lorabia slams it in. Whether it’s with his passing or scoring, Reeves is a flatout playmaker. We’ve got a 9-second difference between the shot clock and the game clock. Clarkson finds Hart. Clarkson with the ball. Five points in the game. And it’s blocked. And it’s out of bounds to New York. They’ll retain possession. You got to love strong defense, especially when it comes in the form of harsh rejections. Wow. And a block like that sends a message. One that says, “We’re not giving up this lead. There’s 18 seconds left in the third quarter. Shot clock at six. McBride passes to Hart. Here’s Larabia. He’s covered by Shamut. Here’s Vanderbilt from outside off the mark. And so it’s Los Angeles sitting with a comfortable lead up by 14. They’ve been putting on a clinic in the paint. Shots are falling with regularity and they are pounding it down low. Right back after this break. and there have been two very different performances from these teams today as we get going in quarter number four. Knicks trail by 14. We’ve got Austin Reeves. He’s out there with Jared Vanderbilt. Then there’s Smart and it’s Labraia in at the three. That’s the Laker five. Clarkson passes to McBride. Five to shoot outside. Towns off target with his three. Lakers leading by 14. That’s for Smart. Reeves outside. Arabia passes to Hayes. Now here’s Smart. He’s covered by Shannet. Took the opportunity when he saw it. Reeves has got the fourth quarter going with the first basket of the period here for the Lakers. Clarkson kicks to Hart left side. Towns over Hayes. Lakers with the rebound. This is what you call trying to shoot your way out of a slump and I’m not sure that’s the best approach right now. Nice shot by Smart. Well, if there’s any player in the league who relishes contact, it’s Marcus Smart. You want to play physical. Oh, yeah. I like that. Here’s McBride. Marcus Smart picking up that last basket. Left side. Towns. Clarkson on the wing over Smart. The shot by Clarkson. No good. Los Angeles leading by 19. On the wing, Reeds defended by McBry. Hayes dishes to Smart. Throws it up high. Oh my goodness. Where did that come from? Oh my goodness. That was beautiful. Knicks trail by 21. They’ve been struggling here on offense. Yeah, a bit of a dry spell for sure. McBride finds Towns. And with NBA defenses more spread out than ever, Doris, teams are getting more aggressive, looking for offensive rebounds. They are, Kevin, because it can be a valuable asset to get extra possessions. You’re winning on the margins if you do that. And let’s remember, certain guys just have a knack for getting offensive rebounds. So, why not let those guys work? Now here’s Smart after the miss from Carl Anthony Towns. Shoots over Clarkson. Smart misses. And so Clarkson will bring it up for New York looking to get on the board here in the fourth. Still here’s Hart outside Towns to end the run. It’s rebounded by Hayes. Hayes has got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. Plus eight in the rebound differential. One more reason why they’re in control. Pass to Smart. And now the Knicks on the break. Here’s Towns. And the dunk by Towns. You call that moving with intent and purpose. The big time finish by Carl Anthony. And JJ Reick is called timeout. And that timeout by coach was carefully measured. Wanting to make sure that everybody is on the same page here. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Some changes here for the Lakers. Maxi Cleba, he’s checked in for Vanderbilt. Kette comes in for Jake Larabio and Luca Donuch subbed in for Austin Reeds. And a switcher also for New York. Robinson’s checked in. And a little over three and a half minutes in the books so far here in the fourth. Stolen by Robinson to the inside. Towns. Donic with the block. Oh, Donic says not now and not here. That is a tremendous defensive play. Here’s Cleba. Donic outside. Six on the shot clock. Outside for Smart. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Smart’s got five points in the quarter. Their ability again to stretch the floor particularly in this second half. And guys, boy, when you’re hitting, it sure does work. It obviously opens up major options at the offensive end. Towns for three and it’s hauled in by Los Angeles. Donic has got five rebounds tonight. And physically there’s no doubt they’ve been the stronger team. A plus 10 rebound advantage tells you all you need to know. Smart wide open. He fires offline with his three. They need a good offensive possession. Yeah, they’ve gone a long time without a bucket. The offensive rebound. with a screen on Smart and that one’s good. Shamut just sagged off just enough and no hesitation on his part. Now here’s Donic from the arc. Rebounded by Hart, the eight-footer. And yes, it’s good. And and that’s a great piece of work to get to the hoop there. Just tore the knee to shreds. Hitch passes to Cleba. And here’s Hayes. Fouled on the shot and picks up two points. So one free throw coming up. Boy, you cannot put it in a much better spot than that. Wow. And the Lakers with some changes. Hatchima. He’s checked in for Maxi Cleba. James comes in for Dalton Connect. And it’s Austin Reeves in for Marcus Smart. So New York going with almost an entire new group here. Here he’s checked in for Mitchell Robinson. Bridges comes in for Carl Anthony Towns. Clarkson. He’s checked in for Landry Shamat. And it’s Jaylen Brunson in for Miles McBride. Now here’s Brunson. And the foul on Ruie Hatchim. That’s his third foul of the game. Well, going into a promising draft like this past summer, Greg, are losing teams trying to secure that lottery ticket to the stars? Well, you look at the last what, four and a half decades worth of champions. Only five of those teams were led by a player taken outside the top seven in the draft. So, you can see why teams are trying to draft so high. Now, here’s Donic and throws it down. Oh, such a beautiful pass to set that one. Yeah, the pass might have been pretty, but the finish was bangry. With it, guarded by Donic. Three-pointer. Lakers with the rebound. Eightton’s got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. And Donic throws it down. Wow. The passing skills on full display. LeBron James once again orchestrating like a maestro. Now here’s Brunson. Yabuselia screen on Donic and he makes the bucket, gets the whistle and now a three-point play chance here for him. I’ll tell you an underrated thing right there. How effective that screen was. It just creates a lane to the cup. Towns, he’s checked in for New York. Landry Shamock comes in for Clarkson. Behind the lanes. Behind the lanes. One shot. That’s good from Yabusle. And every team is trying to ward off or recover from injuries. So Doris, how much separation is there with regards to team training staffs? Now this is a great question, Kevin, and I think one of the things that highlights is how important every member of your staff is, from your head coach to the assistant coaches down to the training staff. An 82 game season will challenge any medical staff. They are invaluable to your organization. And they’ve shown effort and aggression in the paint. Really right from the tip. Their rebounding edge right now massive. Now here is Himemer. Pass to Reeds. Yes, it’s James picking up the assist. LeBron’s got his sixth assist on the night. And here’s Brunson. He’ll bring it up for New York. Here’s Yabulele. Towns kicks to Brunson. Yabule the screen and it’s Brunson missing. It’s almost like he’s trying to make things hard on himself. You know, he’s just got to slow the game down, try to get some easy ones. Buries it from three-point range. James has got 23 points. Three-pointers are killing them at this point. And they haven’t been able to respond at the other end. inside. Here’s Brunson and he banks in the layup. And really a good job spotting his teammate near the bucket and then just pinpoint passing for the finish. Anj passes to Hatchima. Anj outside puts up a three and it’s Sham with the rebound. Shamut’s got four rebounds now tonight. Brunson with it. He’s picked up by Donic. Here’s Yabu Sele. Banked in off the glass. Doesn’t get much easier than that. That is nice work. Reeves outside. Now here’s James. He’s guarded closely. Pass to Donich over Brunson. And again, it’s the Lakers. If you allow Luca to establish position because of his size, his strength, his footwork, turn the lights out. Towns a screen on Donic. Brunson the bounce pass and Towns gets it to go. How about the assist coming off the deck. What a pretty bounce pass. Los Angeles has gone 47 with the long ball here in the fourth quarter. Back to Donic. Three-pointer. That doesn’t go either for Donic. He needs to look to try to drive inside and get going. That outside shot is simply not there. Sham no good from outside. And maybe, you know, he thinks he can shoot himself out of the cold spell, but I don’t think that’s the case. Maybe somebody want to tell him to ease up off the threes. Now here’s Donic. Reeves outside. Pass to Hatchima. offensive rebound and Eightton stays with it. That gives him the double double. 11 points and 10 rebounds. This guy a relentless force on the glass. DeAndre Aton going to work and getting the put back. Here’s Brunson uses the glass to finish the layup. Brunson’s got 14 points now in the second half. And so it’s going to end up in the record books as a blowout, a dominating performance for the Lakers. This was a team performing to its fullest capability. Uh uh LeBron James, ever the showman with an exceptional slam there. One of the best dunkers in the history of the game. Back to Brunson. There’s 49 seconds left to play in the final quarter. and and the way he was able to reach out towards that release had an impact. Well, no question he altered that shot and most of the time that’s just as good as blocking it. Back to Donic. There’s the triple. They had another field goal in his total. Make it seven for 14 shooting 50%. Finishing strong. This is how you want to close things out. No question. They’ve gotten hot at exactly the right time. Clutch play on a team level. 17 seconds left here in the fourth quarter. Outside. So, it’s Los Angeles winning this one easily. They won this game going away. They were the better basketball team by far tonight. And you got to commend this sort of dominance, particularly here at home.
