[Music] In today’s NBA gameplay, LeBron James makes his return as the Los Angeles Lakers gear up for an exciting showdown with Lorie Markinan and the struggling Utah Jazz. The Lakers enter at 10-4, holding the fourth spot in the West, while the Jazz sit at 5 and eight and 10th in the conference. Will Los Angeles cruise to a comfortable win, or can Utah pull off a surprising upset? Watch the full video to see how it all plays out. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] And checking out Utah’s opening lineup, we’ve got Yousef Nurkitch. George out there with Markin. And it’s Muk in at the two. And for the Lakers, we’ve got Donic. James is out there with Aton. Then it’s Marcus Smarts and it’s Reeves in at the three. Now RJ, this could be a battle won in the trenches. Each team with a formidable front court. Yeah, both these teams are loaded with a lot of skill down low. Kind of old school. Should be a physical contest. And so the Los Angeles Lakers get the first points of the ball game. Pass to Bailey. Lets it go from deep. Knocks down the three ball. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the deep. Yeah, that just comes down to a lack of effort. The defender has to do a better job fighting through the screen. And here’s the Lakers. And let’s head over to the sideline and catch up with David Aldridge. Hey Kevin, briefly spoke with JJ Reick. He talked about the challenges that come with playing against Lorie Markin. Coach said you have to know where Lori is at all times because he’s so effective playing off the ball. He’s a knockown shooter and a smart cutter and he moves extremely well for his size. His team’s got a lot of respect for the mobile sevenfooter. Back to you guys. Thank you, David. And he knocks down the first one. I know Reeves has been accused of hunting fouls before, Richard. Uh, do you see that? Oh, I don’t know if it’s all on Reeves. It’s just the way the game is played. Great players learn how to put you in position to foul them. The goal of the game is to score. And if that’s hunting fouls, then hunt away. And Reed drops them both. And it’s a luxury to have a great shooter like him at the line. Very rarely see a miss. Outside marking it. Aton against Nerk. Pass to Bailey for the three. And Utah another three. Great dish from Nerkach there. He he really has a sixth sense for those reads. We’ve played just over a minute here in the first [Applause] outside. Lakers passing it around. [Applause] LeBron against Markin. James unable to get that one. Excellent D there from Markin. Utah’s gone two of two from three-point range here in the first quarter. Pass to George. Charity stripe shot again. The Jazz score and nice touch inside. George can finish from all three levels. Now here’s Smart Hon. And the Lakers with another miss. George against Donic will not go. This is off the front iron for Los Angeles. They’ve gone one of three from the field to start this one so far. Now on the scoring column with that bucket, one for two this game. And he’s such a polished shooter. You can’t give Donic these kinds of opportunities or he’s going to burn you. Noric a screen on Donic. There’s the lob to Markin. George finds Markin out to the right wing and another shot and good. Got the friendly bounce off the right side of the rim. Nerkish doesn’t take a lot of bad shots. So when he decides to pull up off the dribble, you know he’s feeling it. LeBron’s shot is good. And once he got to the 10, I think he was surprised to find himself that wide open. Easy possessions like that literally are just a gift. You just dream of them. He’ll gladly take those. And Will Hardy is called timeout. Looking for a breather and maybe just one or two things to talk about the Lakers Malone era. They just couldn’t overcome the dynastic Bulls. The the Jazz still searching for that first NBA title. And stolen by LeBron. Pass break. The Lakers. Oh, Aton in position. Takes the alley pass and dunks it down. He’s a nimble guy for someone with that size. Eightton can get off of his feet quick for a lob. Here’s George. And here in the first quarter with a little over three and a half minutes played, LeBron outside, Aton inside. He’s guarded by Norwich. And there’s Eightton. And that’s good on the assist by Donic. Donic has got three assists now in this one. Utah with the ball, trailing by two. Donic against George. Arin passes to Bailey over Reeves. Bailey misses. Well, they’ll be happy with that look even though it didn’t fall. Tough to watch those miss. I’m sure they’ll convert the next chance. The shot by LeBron. No good. And so Markin will bring it up for the Utah Jams. [Applause] Hail passes to Norkitch. Here’s Markin. Hits the difficult fadeaway jumper. And we talk about the importance of versatility. He’s really got it all on the offensive end. Donic dishes to the defense didn’t have position. They whistle a blocking foul and he’ll go to the line. It’s on Lowry Markin. The allaround game of Donets is impressive. A walking triple double threat every night. That’s his first personal foul. Second team foul. Take a break. Take a break for the Lakers. Luca taking two shots. That free throw good from Donic. And something you see with the Lakers, they really trust their role players, don’t they, Richard? Yeah, LeBron does a great job of empowering his group. That’s why he’s top five in the league all time in assists. If you earn his trust, he will give you a ton of space to work. The Lakers know that they can only go as far as their great group of role players. Free throws good from Donic. Well, Greg, over the last few seasons, one area of consistency for the Jazz has been their rebounding. Yeah. And they have some size, and they make controlling the boards a focal point. When you’re playing Utah, you better be ready to put a body on somebody. George with the bucket and developing that three ball shot. George is putting in the work. Yeah, for Los Angeles. They’ve gone five of nine from the field here in the first. Donic outside over George. He sinks the 11footer. Donic has got six. And we’ve seen several lead changes tonight. Neither team giving an inch. I’ve been on the edge of my seat courtside. Man, this has been a barn burner. And Will Hardy calls timeout here. He wants a minute here to get things straight. [Applause] Utah’s gone three of three from deep. Nine points rung up from outside here in the first. Pass to George. [Applause] Fires from the line. Out left to the wing. Here’s Nerkach. That falls. Nice feed that time from George. George has got three assists in the game. [Applause] Lakers have gone six or 10 from the field in this ball game. Outside, Smart down low. Here’s James. Lays it up and gets it in. In the paint, LeBron James is capable of running right over the defender. That is athletic. [Applause] George against Donic. Two points. That one goes. And it’s seven points from Keanti George. I’ll tell you what, I’m not sure these guys can keep this up. There will be some let down at some point, but these teams, they are built to score. So, Smart deciding where to go with it. Lets it go from 11. That’s good from Donic on the assist by Smart. And when Luca sees the mid-range open up, he he takes the shot. Keeping things simple. And so it’s Utah here with the ball. George passes to Norach. Back to George. George double team. Here’s Collier. [Applause] Noric a screen on Reeves. Second shot opportunity and Noric lays it in. Noric has got seven points in the game. And with his skill, Nerkage can score from anywhere on the court. But when you’re 280, his skills probably better utilized inside. Here’s Reeds after the basket by Yousef Nerkach. Getting the latest now from our sideline reporter, David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away, Kevin. Thank you. The Utah Jazz last season became one of the first teams in the league to move their games to broadcast television. It’s a gamble, but they just about tripled their reach. And with the rapid growth in the region, they have a chance to attract new fans. And Kevin, no doubt other NBA teams are keen to see how this goes. Oh, David, no question at all. And we thank you for your report. Lakers trail by five now. Reeves. Reeves with the screen for Donic from the arc. Rebound Utah. And what I love about marketing, he takes care of the basketball. And that’s a result of being patient, playing smart, and just generally getting his points within the flow of the offense. Here’s Collier. hasn’t made one yet. Five to shoot. The Jazz need to get off a shot here. Can’t hit. Outstanding work to send him away. They sniff that one out. Oh, in position and Aton throws it down. Smart is just such an effective combo guard. IQ off the charts. He’s just fantastic at getting his teammates going. And there’s a minute 45 left to play in the first quarter. George passes to Norkitch. Pass to Mailoop. Now Markin from outside the arc. Doesn’t go that time. Inside stolen by Markin. Here’s Collier. Back to Markin. somehow ignores the tight D and gets the layup. Markin’s got his second bucket of the night. And taking a quick look here, guys, at the hustle stats for the Utah Jazz from the tip. They are not making things easy on them. Lots of steals playing disruptive basketball. And they’ve also refused to give up on their plays tonight. chasing after their shots and just working hard for second chance points. And here’s Newark after LeBron James hitting the three. And now the fans break. Dantic with the ball. And again, Los Angeles with the triple. I like how fast makes decisions, reading the defense ahead of time, rising and shooting with confidence. And here’s George. He’ll bring it up for Utah. They trail by one. Pass to Markin. Nerkish a screen on James to the inside and Nerkach with the basket on the assist by Markin. Nine points for Nerkach. It has been nip and tuck through the first half. Exactly guys, the way it’s seessawed back and forth. Unbelievable. LA has gone two of four from beyond the arc to start the game. Reeves outside. [Applause] Mail passes to George. Takes the assist and lays it in. Picked out the pass nicely. And really, it’s been a major aspect of their offense in the early stages here. Their success working the ball inside and getting points from close range. Here’s Don and they call the foul. So, a chance at the line for one more coming up. Making the floater look. This move is not as easy as it looked. It’s a challenging shot. He’s gone two for two at the line so far. How about last season? Made about 79% of his attempts. So those are really quality numbers up. [Music] That free throw good from Donic. Here’s Sensible. Oh, and he just knocked down the puzzer. Peter bringing the even match up after the first quarter of play. And the guys, what’s your take on Utah so far? Just stretching out the floor in that first. They had the defense scrambling. Their points came almost exclusively from beyond the ark. And as this game continues, that should open up the floor for the rest of their offense. [Applause] Jazz leading by three. He’s out there with Hatchima. Then it’s James. Then there’s Luca Donic. And it’s Loravia in at the three spot. That’s the group for the Lakers to start the second quarter. The Lakers shooting has been brilliant in this game. 67% from the floor. James rebounded by Bailey. Yeah, and he had the knee tangled up there with that patented crossover. Just couldn’t convert the finish. Pass to Kier. R.J. So often with rookies, we want to judge them after half a season, but we’re not very patient with them. How long should we give players to prove themselves in the NBA? Well, there’s a different type of prove yourself. If you’re talking about a rookie, I was taught after about game 60, you’re no longer a rookie because you played every team, you understand the defensive concept, you might be a little fatigued, but after that, you’re no longer a rookie. But to judge them if they can play in this league, it can take a couple of years. And so it’s Utah here with the ball after the basket by the Lakers. Here’s Sensall. Pass to Anderson. Down to five on the shot clock. Here’s Cier. The three. The Jazz again. Can’t hit it. The Lakers trail. A minute and a half gone here in the second quarter. Here’s Donic. And the Lakers take on two more. And it doesn’t take much for Donic to get hot. And and once that happens, boy, he is almost unguardable. Here’s Kier. He has yet to score. [Applause] Pass to Bailey. There’s the three. Score of the basket is third after five shots. And the lack of effort to fight over the screen there makes that an easy shot. Yeah, as soon as these guys feel contact, they are just disappearing like they’re not even there. You got to show some fire and keep defending. Utah has gone one of three from way outside since the start of the second quarter. Here’s Collier going inside and it’s blocked and it’s out of bounds. The Jazz able to retain possession here. And we got to take a second look to admire that outstanding block. And in a close game, blocks like that are so clutch. And that could be a real difference maker here tonight. And Will Hardy is called timeout. This will give him a chance to discuss some potential alterations. [Applause] Get out. It’s your breaker. Okay, time right now for your liquor record. Let me hear you. [Applause] [Applause] The Jazz shooting their first free throws here tonight. And one of the highlights last year for this group was the fact that they were so efficient from the charity strike. That’s a huge factor. [Applause] And that one misses. And you can never really count out these Los Angeles Lakers, Greg, can you? No, I I I really don’t think you can. They They battle out of the playin tournament. They overcome obstacles and they have tremendous willpower. [Applause] [Applause] and he sinks the second. And here in the second quarter of action with a hair under two and 1/2 minutes played so far, he loss it up and Hayes throws it down. And how about the incredible timing on that alley? He absolutely hammered it down. [Applause] The Jazz have gotten off to a rough start here in the second quarter going just one for five. Here’s Cyer. Guarded by Donic and the basket by Bailey. Nice ball movement there. Delivered the pass right on time. Lakers trail by three. [Applause] Donic looking it over, shoots it up and it’s good off the back rim and in. Donic has got four points this morning and obviously his momentum from the last game has carried over here tonight. He’s just riding the wave of momentum right now getting to his spots and keeping things simple on the offensive side. Hatchim kicks to James. [Music] Just under three and a half minutes played here in the second quarter. Burries the long range jumper. We talked about a back and forth game. This is the definition. You have to love these kinds of games scoring wise, keeping everybody on their toes. Here’s [Applause] and there’s the try. His shot is good. Making him a perfect two for two from the floor. Yeah, he was able to sneak it to the rim. Had enough room to get just like an easy layup. [Applause] James with it. Hayes trying to break free. James no good for Utah. They’ve gone three of eight from the field since the beginning of the second quarter. Here’s Philip Howski and the call on the shot that sends him to the line. Rui Himura picks one up for Utah. They have converted one of two free throws so far today. Shooting for Utah taking two shots. [Applause] [Applause] That one is off. So, it’s both teams making substitutions here. [Applause] and no good on the second free throw. So he goes 0 for two there. LA has gone three of five from beyond the arc so far tonight. LeBron passes to Aiden. James against Markin. James kicks to Smart. Shot clock at six. James sets the screen for Smart. Misses the three. And he used the pump fake well there, but he couldn’t capitalize. Here’s Collier. Guarded by Donic. Noric. A screen on Reed. Arin can’t get it to go for Los Angeles. They’ve gotten just over 50% of their shots to drop here in the second quarter. They’re five for knock and the foul called on Isaiah County. That is his first foul of the game. First team foul. Smart finds Reeves. Nice ball movement here by the Lakers. Donich with it. Now by Anderson. Shot clock at five. on Jedge passes to LeBron. Three-pointer rebound Utah. And Richard, you’ve watched LeBron James over the years. His approach never waivers. It never changes. He is all business all the time on the court, off the court. The consistency of his focus and mental toughness is unbelievable. Now, here’s LeBron after the miss from Kyle Anderson. And he throws it down. The selfless attitude of James. When someone on his team has a clean look, look, he feeds him. [Applause] Here’s Collier. [Applause] [Applause] over Reeves finds the bottom of the bucket from 13 ft out. Markin’s got the game tied up here for the Jams for Los Angeles. They’ve gone six of 11 from the floor. Over 50% shooting here in the second quarter. Now here’s Smart and here’s Reeves outside. The rebound by Collier outside. Markin hits the three-point bomb and it’s a three-point Jazz lead. And early on, Markin has demonstrated how efficient he is from that range. Have to run him off the line. Pass to Donic. The three, the three ball from Donic. And there’s no shortage of fight in Donic. He’s a counter puncher. Hit him with a three and he is coming right back at you. Anderson with the ball to the middle. Markin. Good. Markin’s got 11 points. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. Reeves outside. [Music] Markin in with the block. And how about marketing using his size and reach on defense. Great timing in terms of being able to get up and block shots. D Bre with the rebound. And here’s Anderson. Still scoreless over to the left wing. Here’s Collier. James defending. Pocket six. Pass to Filipowski. He trains it as the shot clock ticks down. Philippowski has got his first points in this one. And here’s James. He’ll bring it up for Los Angeles. Four-point game. Eighton in the high post. looking on Noric now. Here’s Aon. He’s guarded by Noric. Just four to shoot. And here’s Donic from the arc. Good. And Smart gets the assist. Smart’s got assist number five here tonight. And Donic used to creating kind of a luxury for him to simply catch and shoot. And James picks up the foul. That is his first foul of the game. And the Jazz with some changes. Bailey, he’s checked in for Filiposski. Mail comes in for Kyle Anderson. And Georgia subbed in for Collie. 130 left to play here in the second quarter. Lakers have gone out of 16 from the field in the second quarter. A nice sufficient 50%. Whistle blows. Basket is good. So, a chance here for a three-point play that’s going to send LeBron James to the line. It’s going to be on Yousef Nerkach. All right, we’ll take a look now at how the points have been generated so far. A scoring breakdown for Los Angeles. So far, they haven’t had to force anything. They’re swinging the ball around and turning good passing into points. And in addition, the three-point shooting has been dialed in tonight. They seem poised for a big game from deep. R.J., last season, LeBron passed 40,000 career points. Uh, do you think we’ll ever see someone get even close to that number again? Probably not, Kevin. Not in my lifetime. You have to understand, you’re going to have to score 25 points a game for 20 plus seasons to even have a chance. LeBron, he’s one of one and that’s just an taking advantage of some soft defense on that drive. A little resistance for him on the way to the basket. Pass to Donic. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. What determination from Donic pushing his shot through despite some stiff defense to draw the foul. The Lakers have made all of their free throws so far tonight going six for six. Yeah, a year ago though, Kevin, 78% conversion rate from the free throw line. So that’s a nice allaround effort. Two shots. [Applause] [Music] That free throw missing. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] And he’s good on the second. 46 seconds left in the second quarter. Now here’s George. 14 points for him. Nic Reeds. Here’s Bailey. It’s good with that basket. He’s now five for nine. It has been nip and tuck through the first half. Exactly, guys. The way it’s seessawed back and forth. Unbelievable. [Applause] Los Angeles has gone to the three-pointer 11 times tonight. out five of them. Here’s Eightton. [Music] It’s good. Now he’s shooting six for seven through the defender. Aiden, he’s going to get his outside George pass to Markinan and stolen by James. LeBron gathering speed. 3. It’s been all about Luca Donic for LA and of everything he’s doing well. Luca Donic has been exceptional here, guys. You just love the patience in that first half. Waited until he got the look he wanted. You love guys who can get their shots within the flow of the offense. [Applause] Jazz trail by four. Getting underway here in the second half. Here’s Will Hardy’s five. Markin is out there with Durkitch. Then it’s George and it’s Bailey in at the three slot. Now here’s Markin. Good on the triple. Markin’s got the first points of the second half up on the board for the Jams. And once Markin flips the switch, it’s fun to watch. Love seeing him be that aggressive. And here’s James outside. Rebounded by the Jazz. Bailey’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Here’s Mark and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. That’s on LeBron James. playing with aggression inside. At times it’s like Markin is daring the defense to foul it. Markin taking two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] The first one falls and marking is showing the aggressiveness you like to see in a guy with his skill set. Somebody who doesn’t lack confidence when he shoots the ball. [Applause] So he gets them both. It’s always nice to see a big fella be able to knock down some free throws and make teams pay from the line [Music] outside. Smart [Music] Reeves outside [Music] pass to LeBron. Six to shoot. Here’s Donic. The rebound by the Jams. Very dangerous to leave a guy like that open. Lucky break there for the D. Kaiuk passes to Norkitch. Haley misses and so Donic will bring it up for the Lakers. They trail by one and the Lakers with another miss. Utah’s gone one and two from beyond the ark since coming out of the break. And they call an illegal screen here. And you can tolerate gas like that sometimes, but in a close game, man, I tell you what, that really hurts. Los Angeles has gone past the three-point line for 13 of their shots. Six of 13. James, the pass to Aiden. Here’s Donic defended by George from past the arc and that’s good. Luca Donuch for three. Donic has got 25 points in the game. And now around 2 minutes gone by in this half. Donic against George. Pass to Bailey and Smart over to help. Kicks it out to Markin. Noric setting the pick for Markin over LeBron. Markin can’t get it to go. The Lakers in the lead inside. James Crowbars it in. This is classic LeBron leaping off the floor for a powerful dumbb. And Will Hardy is called timeout. Wants to talk some things over. Might be seeing some things to adjust. It’s time for dancing. If you see yourself in the big screen, you know what to do. [Applause] Just under two and a half minutes into the third quarter now. Outside George Nurkitch. A screen on Donic. outside. Marking it off the mark there with the three-point shot. Los Angeles leading by four. When it comes to the league’s most physical defenders, Richard, look no further than Marcus Smart. Yeah, he’s someone that has no problem sacrificing his body. Whether that’s taking charges or diving after loose balls, he is relentless. Here’s Bailey following the bucket by the Lakers. Nobody here. George good on the three-point shot. George has got 17 now. And man is he in a zone right now. Seems like he can’t miss. Honoric with the steel. Here’s Miley. Yes. And the foul that one on Smart. No clue how he got that one to fall. That’s his first team. And he’s got his first chance at the line here. Steve shooting one. [Applause] Find the length. Find the length. One shot. [Applause] Lakers have gone three of six in the third quarter. 50% from the field. On the wing, Donic from 17 ft out. Good. And Smart gets the assist. Smart’s got his eighth assist in the game. And so George will bring it up for Utah. Pass to Bailey and a miss there on the triple. LA has gotten a positive outcome on seven of their 14 three-pointers in this game. Not bad at all. And Aon throws it down. And how about the incredible timing on that alley? He absolutely hammered it down. Here’s George. 17 points in the game. Here’s Mu. [Applause] George passes to Mkyu. [Applause] Here’s Bailey. He’s defended by Reed. Oh, an aggressive move and fantastic finish. Trying to send a message with that slam, I think. Lakers have gotten five of eight shots to fall for them in the third quarter. A nice 62% for the field. Uses the glass to finish the lay and it’s seven points for Austin Reed. And certain guys dictate the pace of the game. Donic as much as anyone. Utah with the ball. Four-point game. Now George knocked loose stolen by Reeves. James in the high post. He’s not afraid of getting physical. I like how LeBron James has no problem accepting the contact while trying to score. And what do you guys think so far about the offensive approach for the Lakers? They have found a lot of success in transition, running at every opportunity and getting points before the defense can get set. And they’ve also forced a lot of turnovers, capitalizing and turning those turnovers into points. Way to get after it. Free throw good, James. And when you think of LeBron, his competitive spirit is to me the first thing that comes to mind. All this guy wants to do is win all the time. And the Lakers making a change here. James has checked in. [Applause] And so he’s able to get one of two. RJ, no matter what the situation, Nerkage is a monster on the glass, isn’t he? He had 31 rebounds in 2024. You never see that anymore. Los Angeles leading by five. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Rogers outside. Yes, it’s James picking up the assist. Donic has got 30 points. And we know Donic has limitless range, but for him it’s about becoming more consistent from deep. Pass to Bailey. George looking around. Nobody near Noric. And they wasted no time getting those three points back. Noric has got 12 and an I for an I. Both teams working to stretch the floor. This is today’s NBA. Hey, we see this kind of exchange more often than not. Now here’s a 14 points for him. Smart finds James [Applause] sets the pick for James. Tipped away. Six on the shot clock and that one’s good. Eighton. 16 points for him. When Aiden is rolling, he is truly dangerous. He can just continue rolling with force all night long. George with the ball. 17 points in the game. Markin shot number 12 goes in. He’s made seven of 12 now. Los Angeles leading by five passes to Smart. Now LeBron lets the three fly rebound by Norkitch. Noric has got his fifth rebound in this one. Here’s Mu covered by LeBron outside. George and Nerk with the basket on the assist by George. George has got five assists tonight. LA has gone into the three-point range four times since halftime and buried two of them outside James. [Applause] Shot from free throw range. The rebound by the Jams. Noric has got six rebounds here tonight. Executing to perfection right now offensively. I mean, in total sake. Good luck trying to stop him now. Now, here’s Markin. And Markin throws it down. And you know what? He’s a great player to run the pick and roll with. I mean, he operates really well in that set. And all he needs is a little bit of daylight and the young fella is golden. And the Lakers have possession. Following the bucket by the Jazz. Dashic finds James. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Donic has got assist number eight now on the night. Jazz trail by four. George passes to Norkitch. Here’s Muer. [Applause] Here’s Bailey. 15 points in the game. Just five to shoot and stolen by Eaton. Here’s Donic. And some very quick points for him on that possession. Now it’s a six-point Laker lead and he’s got a good handle. Excellent body control. Donic is a threat to pull up from anywhere. Pass to Markin. [Applause] 132 left to play in the third. Can’t hit from in close. Lakers leading by six. LeBron outside. James with it. A tad short, but it’s good off the front eye. James has got eight. Despite his relatively quiet night, they are still winning. And that just shows this team is more than just about one guy. Pass to Bailey to halt the run. He can’t get that one. And so it’s Smart who brings up the ball for the Lakers. Eightton trying to break free. Tries yet again. And it’s Donic missing. Jazz trail by eight. [Applause] Outside Markin. Noric setting the pick for Markin. And once again off the mark by Utah. It’s a 4second differential between the shot clock and game clock. Yorkage with the steel. [Music] And here is Markin. 20 points for him. [Applause] outside. George lays it up and in on the nice reverse. George as so far as we get rolling here in quarter number four. Lakers lead by six. We’ve got Ruie Himura. Luca Donets out there with James. Then there’s Hayes and it’s Loravia in at the small forward. That’s who’s in the game for the Lakers. Now here’s James. Hayes with the screen for James. Misses the three. Jazz trail by six. [Music] [Applause] Here’s Vipowski. Here’s Collier. Fouled on the shot and picks up two points. So, one free throw coming up. You love how each side has risen to the challenge throughout this one. Man, this has been a fun one. But look, who doesn’t love a high-scoring game? At the line for the Jazz. Collier at the line for one. [Applause] Lakers shooting 61% showing all the indications of an offense that is locked in. And here’s Donic from the ar connects from three-point range. Donic has got 13 points in the second half. Jazz trail by six. Pass to Filipowski. [Applause] Fourth quarter. Still young just over a minute play. Here’s Sensible. James defending. And in terms of size, not your typical center, but man, he plays as big as any of them thanks to that terrific leaping ability. Lakers leading by four. [Music] on the wing. Donic to the paint. Here’s Hayes. Shoots over Filipowski. The shots good from Hayes. Oh, just a beautiful textbook bounce pass. You love to see it. [Applause] Utah shooting about 59% from the floor offensively. They’ve been running without a hitch. And looks like the illegal pick was set. Yep, that’s right. That’ll get their attention. That’s going to draw a whistle every time down the floor. Not even close to being a legal screen. That’s a very avoidable turnover. You’ve got to focus on the details. Marcus Mars checked in for the Lakers. Now here’s James. Here’s Donic. Filiposski grabs the board. Pass to Anderson. to the wing on the left. Here’s Sensar. The rebound by the Lakers. Donic has got his fifth rebound right now in the game. And he’s good on the three ball. Donic has got 38 points. And that’s just cold bloodooded right there. He’s taking no prisoners. This is what you expect from him. Just coming alive and dominating in effortless fashion here in the fourth. Not as good in the Los Angeles leads. cut to just seven points in the basket from Collier. And the combination of his quickness and soft touch around the rim really allows him to pull off shots like that. A lot of players don’t have the reverse in their arsenal. Here’s James after the basket by Utah. Misses from close range for Utah. They’ve gone three of five here in the fourth quarter. Pretty good numbers coming out of the break. And the whistle blows. It’s going to be on Luca Donuch. That’ll be his second foul of the game. And the Jazz making a change here. Markin’s checked in. Coming onto the floor for the Jazz. Number 23 Lowry Mark. Here’s Cier. Pass to Philippowski. Six to shoot. Over to the wing. D2 from Anderson. Rebounded by Smart. Smart’s got six rebounds here tonight. Now here is Hi Murray. Donic left side. Donic with a strong move inside. And inside. Luca knows the bucket is there so he is willing to fight for it. Jazz trail by nine. And we’re about three and a half minutes into the fourth quarter. That one goes in. Gallier’s got seven points for the quarter. That’s just smart basketball right there. Finding a way to get a high percentage shot on offense for Los Angeles. They’ve gone four of seven from the field since the beginning of the fourth. Anjic outside. A chance to extend the lead to double digits, but it’s no good. Jazz shooting 57% in this fourth quarter. Wasted no time on that one. And now just a fourpoint Laker lead. Defensively, you can’t back off him that much. You don’t want to give up easy threes at this stage of the game. A Donic very comfortable down low. Creating space. Donic will move defenders around. Here’s Cier. [Applause] Pass to Markin. This one for three. Rebounded by the Lakers. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. Smart on the wing. outside James. [Applause] Now Hayes and Los Angeles with some changes. Eighton, he’s checked in for Jackson Hayes and James subbed in for Hatchim. [Applause] Donic against George. Eight and a screen on George. Shot clock at six. Oh, Dantics. Long range. Seems like everyone’s taking long threes these days, but Don has natural power in those legs. Generates range with ease. Outside Markin and he can’t answer back. The three-pointer offline Donic will bring it up for Los Angeles. They lead by their biggest margin of the game. and making it look easy. LeBron overwhelms the defense inside. Here’s George following the basket by LeBron James. Pass to Anderson. Fades. The Jazz with another miss. Los Angeles leading by 11. Here’s James. And again, it’s the Lake. A real threat from the in between area. LeBron wastes no time firing when he gets to that spot. The [Applause] Jazz have gone five of 11 from the field in the fourth quarter. Outside marking it down low and they get it and he stops it. What a pass to set him up. Strong move to the 10 trying to get his guys going. Hard not to get motivated GA right when your teammate makes that kind of play. And that could be the spark they needed to make a little run as they try to even this thing up. Here’s Donic. Eighton trying to break free. A nice shot by Donic. Donic has got 47 points. [Applause] So it’s the Jazz now trailing by 13. [Applause] outside. Markinic setting the pick for Markin. Fires the three. Nailed from three-point land. Markin’s got 23 points. And the lack of effort to fight over the screen there makes that an easy shot. Yeah, as soon as these guys feel contact, they are just disappearing like they’re not even there. You got to show some fire and keep defending. Jazz trail by 10. and he gets the basket. Officials blowing the whistle. So, a chance at the line for one more. How about the focus from the native of Finland and it’s clear that Mark and is used to playing through contact. Austin Reeves has checked in for James and Utah with a change here too. Bailey’s check in. Find the lane. Find the [Applause] That free throw good from Markin. Lakers leading by seven. Now Reed outside smart. There’s a screen and it’s off from three-point range. for Utah. They’ve gone eight of 14 from the floor here in the fourth quarter. Mail passes to George. It doesn’t go for him. Los Angeles has gotten three of their six three-pointers to fall here in the fourth. Stolen by George. Three on three overton. Here’s Nerkach. Pass to George. Count it. And that’s 21 points for George. And guys, let’s get your take on the hustle stats for the Jazz. Great heads up defensive play tonight, creating offensive opportunities for themselves by forcing deflections. And I’ll tell you the energy they’ve shown in the open floor. Boy, it has been terrific. Doing a phenomenal job converting in those situations. Now George after Luca Donic’s three-pointer that didn’t go [Applause] Donic against George pocket six releases and that one goes long. Los Angeles leading by five brief to fall. When he gets a quality look like this at the perimeter, he can almost be automatic. Donic against George. Fades back. Arin can’t get it to go. LA’s got eight shots off from three-point land and hit half of them. Reeves the pass to Smart. But again, it’s the Lakers from deep. Look, Mark can be a difference maker from deep. Doesn’t always shoot the best shots, but he’s got the confidence to knock him down. Now, here is George and Markin throws it down. And how sweet a play was that? As sweet as it gets. An exquisite pass to set up the powerful alleyoop dunk. 112 left in the game. Smart dishes to Donic. Reeves outside. Back to Donic and he could not get that one to go. Out of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. It’s going to be on Ysef Nerkage. And so confidently even amongst the trees is fantastic at forcing the issue close to the rim. Utah’s gotten off four three-pointers in the final quarter and two of them have fallen and and so only one team answered the bell tonight, guys. Not a monster to blow out by any means, but still a double- digit victory for the Lakers. There’s superior ball handling. One at four, and fewer turnovers equals greater scoring opportunities. Any coach will tell you that if you take care of the ball every possession, and this is a perfect example of what happens when you do. And we watched one guy all night long, guys. And looking at the stats just confirms what a dominant game he had. What a night tonight it was for Luca Donic. And his playmaking is what stood out to me. Effortlessly creating for his teammates. [Applause] Both good from the line that time. Here’s Donic. Guys, you’ve got to think a basket here would seal it. No question. That would be all she wrote. To the inside. Got a piece of it. [Applause] 29 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Takes it into the teeth of the knee and converts the layup. Now here’s James D right on him. 16 seconds left.
