Sabres team report after 21 games, what are your thoughts?

Defense is yet again starting to become a glaring issue. Powerplay is still not good enough and goalies are a slight issue but that’s due to defense issues
It’s the second most expensive defense in the NHL it needs to be top 10, and it is not
I think a lot of the “well at least we score goals” comes from always playing against backups, and from teams who are playing against us not trying to win tight defense games, so that doesn’t balance out shitty defense
I can never comprehend hockey charts
It’s not that surprising. They’re a classic Lindy Ruff team. Good on offense, bad on defense. That’s been the profile for every team he’s been the head coach of when he doesn’t have Hasek in net.
Not out of it yet and have shown some good things when healthier but can’t believe in them until they prove they can pull off a real winning streak like adults
There is no way a team is #1 in PK in the NHL and has bad goalies , bad Dmen and FWD’s that don’t compete.
All this team needs is find stability in net and 7-10 games with the same 20 skaters in the line up so the team can gel.
Then the GM / Coaches and make decisions.
IMO opinion the Sabres with this line up is a 7-8 seed in the Eastern Conference this year.
Not good enough to be a playoff team that is for sure
Considering the injuries and the 0-4 start to the season, I like where they are at.
I’m pretty optimistic with our players starting to return from injuries. Ideally we trade Krebs and a goalie to free up roster space, since rather not send people down doing well. Either Appert needs to go or actually write useful shit on his dumbass white board.
Trade Power for a true defenseman and we’re good

We have a quarter of the team’s offense in two games. They are at 3.14 goals per game average, without those two games they are a 2.57 goals for average.
“They’ve done a good job at limiting high danger chances…”
Have they?
Thru Friday they were 15th in high danger chances allowed (per 60). Without doing the math they are probably right around league average in that category, but possibly slightly below
You know where they ranked last year? 5th, and notably better than this year.
The PK hasn’t looked much better than last year, just the goalies have been better. But they’ve played at a level that is unsustainable.
