Dolphins Fans Get The News They Were Hoping For…

[Music] The athletics Diana Rousini brings us some great news here on the channel. This is Dolphins Today by Chad Sports because the vacant Dolphins GM position is apparently going to be one that is sought after by executives around the league this upcoming cycle in January and February. And if there’s a lot of excitement for the Dolphins GM position, well, that means Miami will have the pick of the litter and be able to choose the best possible candidate because all of them are interested in the Dolphins position. This is exactly what she said in an article saying the general manager opening is getting lots of attention around the league as it’s viewed as an exceptional front office opportunity by season GMs. She also alluded to more on the Dolphins GM search is coming in the next couple of weeks, which will be interesting to see what she reports as well. But I alluded to it just a second ago. This is great news. This is fantastic because if you are getting all of the top potential nextGs interested in your job, it allows the hiring committee, whoever that consists of, we know Steven Ross and others to go through all of them and really take their time to pick the best possible guy. Because if the Dolphins GM position is thought of as the best one on the market, well then no other person is going to be hired by a different organization before Miami makes the decision, right? So they will get to choose their top person to be the next GM for the Miami Dolphins. More coming here in a second, but the bosses have been on me and Coup’s back for not having enough likes lately. So help us out. I don’t want to get yelled at. So, can we hit that thumbs up icon? Let’s get 450 likes. I know most of you guys at home don’t like getting yelled at at your bosses. So, please help me out. Be greatly appreciated. But I am a little bit surprised by the Diana Rousini report because when you go through the history and the current situation Miami is in right now, you wouldn’t expect the GM position to be one that is like fought over by the top available potential next GMs. I just didn’t think that was the case. And I have a couple reasons why I believe that. Number one is that you have to deal with Tua and his contract. Like you’re coming into a job that you’re locked into a quarterback that is considered one of the most negative assets in the entire NFL. That’s not ideal here. I mean, you look at his contract for the next couple of years here and he’s basically locked in here in 2026. I mean, you see his base salary, you see the cash that he’s owed, see the guarantees, you see the dead cap hit if you were to get rid of him, but you also see that there’s a potential out in the 2027 off season, which basically means, and we’ve laid this out over multiple videos in the past, Tuo will be in Miami for the 2026 season. Now, maybe you can find a trade partner, and that’s really the only out you have. I just don’t think that will be the case because of his durability concerns, his decline in play, um some of the leadership issues that he’s faced over the past year as well. Like I just don’t think anyone’s trading for Tua. So he’s a Miami Dolphin and probably the starting quarterback in 2026. But you can also make the argument if you’re an optimist that this is one of the top reasons why AGM would want the Dolphins job because it gives him job security, right? You can come into this position and guarantee yourself at least three years as the GM of the Dolphins. Why guarantee you at least three years? Well, because you’ll get the first year of dealing with Tua and then you get to draft a quarterback in year two and then you can make the argument, all right, we got to build around this rookie quarterback in year three. Now, if things go from bad, which is where it is right now, to somehow worse in the next three years, you can be canned. But I’m willing to guarantee AGM gets at least three years of runway because of Tua being able to draft a quarterback and then build around that rookie quarterback. If it doesn’t go well, it doesn’t go well, but you at least get those three years. A number two reason why I think this is a job that I wouldn’t believe to have a lot of intrigue is because the lack of flexibility both financially and potentially moving forward in free agency. I mean you look at the cap space in cap situation for Miami in 2026 currently slated to have negative $368,000 in space. Now, that will change obviously with some restructured contracts, some postjun 1 releases, prejune1 cuts, but right now they’re 28th in cap space for 2026. And they also have the seventh most dead cap, which ranks 26th in the NFL in $34.1 million. And that number will likely take a bump up as well when they ultimately release and trade some players this off season to free up that number up top. Specifically looking at some veterans here like Tyreek Hill, Bradley Chub, Minka Fitzpatrick, and Tyrell Dodson who you see the age in parenthesis. That is not what they are in currently in age, but it is what they would be in age for the 2026 season. Tyreek Hill is going to be 32. Bradley Chub and Minko are both going to be 30. Dodson’s going to be 28. I mean, Tyreek Hill is a $51.8 million capit. And right now on Sprack, it’s labeled as a $23.6 $6 million savings for Miami if they cut him prior to June 1st. Bradley Chub has a $31 million cap hit, but you only save $7.3 if you cut him prior to June 1st. Now, you could wait till after June 1st and ultimately save about $20 million and only have about $20 million or $10 million in dead cap, excuse me, rather than the 23 you would have if you cut him prior to June 1st. But you see Minka in his situation. Tyrell Dodson is certainly a cap casualty candidate considering you can cut him and save almost $3 million and with his play not being the highest this season, that’s certainly an option for the new GM. Point I’m trying to make here is there is a lot of veterans on this Dolphins roster that probably won’t be here a year from now. We’ve laid out the situation with Tyreek Hill pretty consistently. He won’t be a Miami Dolphin next year unless he severely severely restructures his contract. Bradley Chub, same thing. Ma Fitzpatrick is up in the air. Has basically no guaranteed money for 2026 and he’s probably going to want out and not be with a rebuilding team. New GM will have a lot of opportunities to change this roster, move on from a lot of veterans and create cap space, but where you’re currently at right now, you don’t have much flexibility to make additions to this roster. But coming up in just one bit, I did want to lay out the reasons why this is a good job to have. We talked about a couple reasons why I think it’s in a bad spot, but I want to talk about the good reasons now here in just one second. But this episode is brought to you by Prize Fix. The season continues to roll on. The weather is changing, but the feeling of being right never gets old. So, keep getting in on the football action and get $50 instantly when you play your first $5. So simple. Just pick more or less on at least two player stats. If you get your picks right, you could cash in. Price Pix also offers injury reboots. What does that mean? Well, if one of your players leaves the game in the first half and doesn’t return, Price Pix won’t count it as a loss. No Dolphins football this week. So, I’m looking across the entire week 12 slate. More than Drake May passing yards against the Bengals, more than Caleb Williams rushing yards against the Steelers, and more than Rasheed Rice touchdowns. I think he enters the end zone against the Indianapolis Colts. Download the Prize Pix app today and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code C LNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. Let’s get into those positives now for the Miami Dolphins nextG GM. Positive number one is also a negative for the fans. But we all know that the owner of Miami, Steven Ross, is very lenient and patient with the people in charge. I mean, Chris Greer was the GM of this football team for a decade. That is an absolute joke. Like, the Dolphins didn’t win a playoff game in Greer’s tenure. Remember, he was made GM in 2016. They only made the playoffs three times. They never won the division. Like Miami did not have any legit sustained success and the GM was here for 10 years. So if you’re someone looking to have a job as a general manager, well, you can look at the Dolph and say, “Well, at least they’re not going to pull the trigger on me, at least as expected, very quickly.” So that is a positive. I mean, honestly, McDaniels should be fired, too. And now you hear reports that Steven Ross wants to keep him for next year. So, it’s just a job and the ownership group is not very judgmental to a degree where they’re firing people and pulling the cord earlier than they should. But that’s a positive for an XGM. Another positive here in a second, but make sure you are subscribed because we’ll have you updated on the GM search for the rest of the season as well as in January when the decisions have to be made. Subscribe right now. But if you want to talk from a football standpoint on why this job is one that may be coveted, it’s certainly because of the draft capital Miami has. They have a lot of ammunition, if you will, this upcoming April, and they could absolutely earn more by making some trades or in the comp projections in when that formula ultimately gets released. Miami currently has eight draft picks for the 2026 draft with five of them coming inside the top 100. They have one pick in the first and second round and then they have three third round selections, their own. One coming from Houston and then one coming from Philadelphia, obviously via the Jaylen Phillips trade that was made in November before the NFL trade deadline. You also have one in the fourth, fifth, and seventh round pick. Now, you have a lots of needs that you need to fill, which is why it’s so good that you have eight picks. And I think it’s very important that you have five of them inside the top 100. Like you look at like segmented draft picks, right? And the ones that are more intriguing. Like top 50 picks are important. Miami should have two top 50 picks this year. They’re a first and second round pick. They should have then five top 100 picks. So you look at top 50 picks, you look at top 100 picks. Those are the ones that are coveted so often. And Miami has a lot of ammunition here. But I mentioned it, they have a lot of needs that they need to fill as well. I mean, you look at the top needs for Miami. I think number one is Edge. I think without a question, that is the number one spot. You have Chop Robinson, but Bradley Chub is old. Jaylen Phillips is gone. Matthew Judon will be gone. You don’t have any edge rushers outside of Chop Robinson. So, I’ll argue that’s the number one need for the Miami Dolphins. Number two is cornerback. Next year, you only have three corners under contract right now. Storm Duck, Ju Guu Brent, and Jason Marshall Jr. You’ll need to sign some corners in free agency and you certainly need to add some young talent and top end talent in the draft. You need to figure out offensive line because Jonah Savinia doesn’t look like he is it so far. James Daniels, we haven’t really seen what he’s capable of doing yet. And Austin Jackson, one year left on his deal in 2026 and you should probably start thinking about moving off of him considering how he is unable to ever actually play football. You also will need another safety with Mika Fitzpatrick potentially leaving and getting up there in age. You certainly need to get a long-term tight end. And you also need to address wide receiver too because right now it’s Malik Washington and Nick Westborini opposite of Jaylen Wadd. And even though they are able to do some nice things, they are not serviceable long-term wide receiver teams. So there’s a lot of needs Miami needs to fill. I think without a question edge and corner your top two and then you have offensive line and safety. And then you talk about those tight ends and wide receivers. So, the new GM is going to have a lot of draft capital, but they’re also going to fill a lot of needs. So, before we get out of here, I did want to show you guys my top GM candidates. We’re talking about the GM jobs, so might as well talk about the candidates. I think my top three are in order. Ed Dods, the assistant GM for the Colts, Chad Alexander, the assistant GM for the Chargers, and Alec Calib, the assistant GM for the Eagles. I would be happy with any of these three if I’ll be honest. I think I would be happy with most of my next three, which is Josh Williams, director of scouting for the 49ers. Mike Greenberg, the assistant GM for the Bucks, and John McCay, the assistant GM for the Los Angeles Rams. I’m fine with any of those guys, but I do think it might be a little bit early for John McKay. He is very young, first year on the job as the assistant GM in Los Angeles. I would certainly prioritize Dods or um Alexander. I’ve also been kind of told through the grapevine that Josh Williams, the director of scouting for the 49ers, is a name that we should absolutely be keeping eye on. So, it’s going to be an interesting cycle, that’s for sure. But sounds like Miami will have their pick of their litter. And according to Diana Rousini, a lot of the GM candidates will want to be the next GM of the Miami Dolphins. So, let me know, who do you want as the next Dolphins GM? Get down in the comments section, let me know. I show six names. We’ve made videos in depth on all six of those, so go back and watch them if you haven’t already. But let me know you’re a guy. And all I ask is, Stephen Ross, please nail this higher. It is the most important thing in my time of being a Dolphins fan because this roster is not in a good spot. But this new GM coming in will have a lot of draft capital at their disposal to where if they hit on a lot of these picks, could turn it around and create a nice baseline for a roster. The new GM also has to make the decision on what to do with Mike McDaniel and find the next quarterback for Miami. So, this next GM is going to be tasked with completely rebuilding this roster that was put in a terrible spot by Chris Greer. And if you hire another bad GM, well, we’re now talking 10 years away from potentially competing. You hire the right GM, maybe we’re competing in four years. That’s the truth. It’s probably four years away at best. But if you hire a bad GM, well, it’s going to be another decade. So, please nail this higher. That’ll do it for today’s show. 1. i wouldn’t help you out , you wouldn’t call out mike greir for f-ing this team up… you talk hypothetical shit all the time . talk fact like you should be talking

  2. I absolutely love listening to all you so-called experts with your podcast that nobody listens to. I accidentally came across and listened to you for several episodes and realize you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. It’s a well sought after job in the NFL because of our quarterback. You’re just a hater you and half of the other fans that don’t know what they’re talking about. Every team in the NFL was looking for a quarterback and we have one. Put him in the correct system with the correct players and he wins. Give us a top five defense like all these other mediocre quarterbacks have in the NFL and then let’s see whatTua can do. I have to say this is my last episode. I will be listening to.

  3. Exactly! Those veterans won’t be here and we didn’t trade them at the deadline. When you factor how long this has been going on as well as we had the greatest quarterback of all time and only made it to one Super Bowl, it could be the worst run sports organization over the last 50 years.

  4. You can’t be buying this Rohloff. How much you wanna bet Ross paid people to hype this job up. Why would anybody great wanna be the GM in this organization? Don’t believe everything you hear.

  5. Give Rohloff a break there is noting to like about the Dolphins lately even the last game I came away mad even though it was a win. I have never turned off a game with the Dolphins in it until this year. I'm a long time fan but they don't make it easy. Sadly the only thing that will fix it is likely a new owner. Hang in there Nic!

  6. Ross just wants to see the names that come out of all this, so he can show that people actually wanna come here, but all that will be shut down, when champ Kelly, remains the gm

  7. 6:10 why do you think these players on the way out. If these players were to go they would have at the deadline. Knowing Miami and you clearly don't, they will run it back with the same team

  8. The dolphins will make the decision to pick players and contract moves, not you. I'm sorry but I'm tired of these fans saying what the dolphins need. The dolphins will make the moves they want, they aren't going to use your ideas, so why say anything. Oh I know for attention
