Ik ik a hot take for a lot of people in the sub but I think he’s showed some promise and steady improvement. There’s been some really nice plays that even broadcasters and film watchers give credit for the play design. We all know it hasn’t been a perfect body of work but I’d rather my OC start bad, learn, progress, make changes/adjustments, and build on what he has learned each week as a first time play caller. It almost feels the opposite of Slowik where early on it felt like he was lighting it up, but seemed to regress as the weeks started stacking. I just think the longer Caley does this for, the better he is going to get at it.

  1. If he continues to show progress, especially at the colts and chiefs, I support giving him the same 2 years that Slowik was given.

One more series of 4 consecutive up the gut runs on goal to go situations though and he needs to be gone.

  2. Idk man sometimes he looks good. Sometimes I think we should publicly stone him outside NRG.

1st half vs bills he looked great
2nd half 36 yards of total offense… like come on man

  3. His play calling still sucks, especially in the redzone. I don’t think he is it. The second half of the bills game we ONLY had like 60 yards or something horrible like that on offense. We have been winning of spite of him, not because of him.

  4. Nah, it’s ok. He’s definitely shown improvement after the rough start and the consensus on this sub has a tendency to be off. Way too much emotion involved in our group think, especially after a bad loss. The man isn’t an idiot, though, he just jumped into the deep end of the pool and wasn’t ready for it. He appears to have gotten his bearings, but I guess we’ll know for sure after we play the Colts and Chiefs.

Sidenote: I also believe there has been some internal policy, or maybe professional courtesy, playing out regarding who was getting snaps early on and now with some games under our belt it’s become come clear who should be afford time on the field based on results rather than expectations.

  5. This is all I will say about Caley, I can see his vision of what he wants I think he needs more time as a play caller to learn the feel of the game, adjustments, get more personnel.

  6. He has gotten slightly better but he still makes decisions that can be very frustrating. I think he will be safe from getting fired but if better offensive play callers hit the open market I think they should heavily think about getting one.

  7. I’m a little worried that Mills, despite his inferior arm talent, is actually better at running Caley’s offense than CJ and we’re going to see a big regression against the Colts and Chiefs.

  8. IMO the colts game is do or die for Caley. If our offense comes out looking like shit with 10 days to plan, he’s done. If they come out and look competent he’s here next year.

  9. I’ve been anti-Caley but I liked the hurry-up touchdown pass play after the first run up the middle failed. It was clearly planned out to catch the defense off guard and it worked perfectly. I hope to see more of that.

  10. Caley needs to learn how to have a killer instinct.

Last Thursday night, he played “not to lose.” Watching the defense win the game vs going out and winning the game.

Teams cannot do that and expect to win against quality teams.

Play aggressive for 60 minutes, not 45.

  11. He’s still on probation. Not full time employment with benefits and all 😆. I’m still not ready to give him company provided uniforms and a locker and shit
