Blackw00d shuts out Smashville | Toyota Game Recap 11/22/2025

Starting of course in the first period because the ABS apparently like to score early this season. Five opening minute goals from Colorado which does lead the NHL. This one comes 15 seconds into the game. You’re seeing it from the opening faceoff here. Well, the for check from Colton and Nelson. The pressure they put on causes a turnover up the wall. And Brent Burns, how many times have we said this? When the puck gets on his stick, very rarely does he dust it off. It’s on his stick and off and it fools Soros. He obviously would want to have this one back, but early in the game, you get a one- nothing lead on the road. Nobody thought the ABS were going to play, I’m going to say it, as bad as they did through the first period and part of the second period, but that goal gives you a little bit of breathing room and Blackwood does the rest. So, a bit of a sleepy period as you were just alluding to. We head into the third period and then Jack Drury with some amazing chances, but Sorrowos just absolutely robs him. Well, this starts with Bartikov on the wall out musling Steven Stamos and then he puts it to the net. Jack Drury right place. It looked like he had a bit of an open net and the puck bobbles on him. He tries to go back against the grain, stays with it. Has a couple of opportunities if that could have gone in. What a goal that would have been. And he’s hanging his head on the bench like, “Ah, dang. Should have had that one.” That’s okay. Not to spoil things, but he’ll get one back eventually. And then why not have an empty netter from your superstar Nathan McKinnon to help the team breathe a little bit at this point. His 17th goal of the season. McKinnon had zero shots up to this point. But for me, the pass from Brock Nelson. Landiskog moves it to Nelson and he puts it under the stick of the Pred player right on McKinnon’s tape. And like I mentioned, Jack Drury, he really wanted the one earlier that Soros robbed him of, but that’s okay. He gets an empty netter here to make it three nothing and just end this game. Well, clean breakout. You can see Kelly puck gets knocked off his stick and Lchinan takes a shot at the empty net. And Drury continues to skate, never giving up on the play. You never know. Nashville scored two goals late against the ABS in the last minute last year. So, just getting that third insurance marker, you know, and something we didn’t really talk about, I mean, we talked about it pregame, but he was quiet tonight. Roman Yosi making his return and didn’t have a big impact for the Nashville Predator. He was skating. He was a part of the offense. it. Once again, you miss 12 games. It’s not always easy to just jump back into the lineup. There’s some timing issues a lot of times, but I thought Yosi was skating. just didn’t show up on the score sheet.
