  1. I remember liking the choice because I remembered exactly how much of a people person he was during his playing days. He always had such a great and good attitude and personality. I knew he wasn’t going to be a boring plain faced manager.

  2. This man has put us through the wringer at times, however at the end of the day he has coached us to 3 championships. I have been a critic of him, however we are back to back champions and his decisions in the playoffs have only improved over the years!!!!

  3. Man were fans salty for the first 4-5 years. Even after the first championship I remember folks still giving shade about his pitching decisions (hell he would be getting shade if we lost game 7, and I can’t argue he doesn’t deserve it keeping Ohtani in the third.) But there is no better hire made without a doubt. We have been dominating post season play for 10 years and the last two are nothing short of glorious. Thank you Dave Roberts!!

  4. I’ll be honest I didn’t think it was gonna work. Just didn’t have enough experience I thought to handle the Dodgers…..but I also remember Tracy, Little, Torre and Mattingly not working (although that last one was more about sideburns) so fuck it why not.

  5. You never think any manager hire would last 10 years. Dave solidified himself with Alston and Tommy, and has a real shot at GOAT

  6. His growth from a rigid analytics guy that over-managed to trusting his gut cannot be understated. We are lucky to have him and his players love him.

  7. If he is down for another decade, he will be the best baseball manager of all time and it will not be close

  8. I’ve been critical of Roberts over the year, especially when he’s making the wrong pitching change and sticking to the likes of Michael Conforto, but I’ve kept my mouth shut over the last 2 years and will continue to since he has earned the ability to coach the best organization in baseball and all of the world.

  9. I really wish we had receipts for the people that were hating on him. If you were one of those, you may be able to blend in here, but you know what you did.

  10. Legend. Side note, I can totally see Miggy stepping in as his successor down the line whenever he decides to retire.

  11. I will always be a Dave Roberts Stan. And yeah, I’ll say it, the hate on him is soooooooooo forced and unnecessary

  12. He has so much more heart and personality than Mattingly. I was glad and trusted him from day one after seeing his smile at 2016 spring training

  13. “winning world series is hard”
“doc sucks as a manager” whoever has these opinions cant have it both ways. Doc showcased this last year why hes a great manager. hes not perfect no one is but 8-9/10 buttons he pushed worked out in the end

  14. I forgive him for any of the goofs he did. 2017 and 2018 broke my freakin heart but that’s all in the past, but at time it was embarrassing.

  15. My Dad and I used to watch this guy play baseball as a senior at UCLA. His nickname was DR. He was a solid talent, leadoff hitter, strong, consistent and really fast.

It was very cool to see him show up in the majors a few years later, a “hey, good for you!” kind of moment.

And from that, came this guy and this Dodgers legacy. It’s still hard to believe. Your original fans are super proud of you, DR.

  16. There’s been a lot of haters over the years who have said he should be fired. I have never once said he should be fired.

  17. And remember that he was in the Padres organization at the time, who also started a managerial search that offseason. Doc didn’t even get an interview with that “organization”.

How many searches have they had since then? How about the Phillies when they hired Kapler? It’s such an important role. We see the in game decisions. So much more that happens behind the scenes trying to create a cohesive whole between so many different people with different agendas, goals, and priorities. Really impressive leadership.
