This Canucks team is a complete ROLLERCOASTER of emotions…..
All right, that was Yeah, I don’t quite know what to say either. Honestly, man, this team continues the trend of playing games where you really just don’t know what the hell is going to happen. This was a complete roller coaster, and you have no idea how much it grinds my gears when this team gets my hopes up just to have it come crashing down seconds later. The main thing I have to say after watching that game is this is what the team defensively would be looking like if it weren’t for Thatcher Demco and Kevin Lykin. And yeah, Jiri Peter wasn’t great at all, but what were we realistically expecting out of the Abbottzford Canucks backup goalie? That’s all that this team was left with. I would have liked maybe a save or two, especially after they tied it up at five a piece. That would have been nice. But also, I’m equally upset at the defense for, first of all, allowing 40 plus shots in this game, knowing you have a guy that’s making his season debut in the NHL. He’s an AHL regular. Like, how do you let them have so many high danger chances walking in and expecting him to make that save? Meanwhile, the Canucks, they had a lot of goals today, but they only shot 13 times. If they got 20 plus shots, they would have won this game. I hate singling people out, but Marcus Person has not been that good. I’m not going to lie to you. He’s been pretty disappointing the past couple of games. Took two really costly penalties, both ending up in goals. And when he’s on the ice, he’s not really making that big of a defensive impact the same way that he was at the tail end of last season. David Camp made his season debut with the Vancouver Conucks today. He wore number 64. And I’ll give him some time, but he didn’t look great today. In terms of the bright spots on this team tonight, Person really starting to come into his own. Two goals on the night. It’s weird, man. Last year Person wasn’t great, but the defense was solid. This year, Person starting to look good, but now the defense is looking awful. I wish we could have both going at the same time, but that seems to be too big of an ask from this team. But yeah, man. With that being said, let’s talk about this game. Starting off with the first period of play. Early on, Juri Bero was settling in with a couple of saves. The Conucks took a little while to get going. They had to kill a penalty, but then they got on the board first. It’s O’ Conor who makes a nice move here and digs away at it. Pokes at Babroski. It leaks through him and he’s there to poke it by in the blue crease. Give the Conucks a one- nothing advantage. Right after that, the Conucks to the power play. Sherwood makes a dot of a pass to Jake De Brus, power play specialist, right at the back door, and he makes it a two nothing lead for the Canucks. Unfortunately, this lead is short-lived as AJ Greer comes in with a shot, puts it by the blocker of Patera. I thought the defense could have been a little bit better here. They kind of just let the Panthers walk in. And then the Panthers get themselves a power play after this great save here from Jirui Patara, but unfortunately the Canucks defense again just lets the Panthers walk in and Seth Jones of all people scores five hole on Patara. Ties the game up as we head to the first intermission. In the second, this is where it kind of got away from the Conucks early on. It’s Luke Cunnan here with an empty net. Peter very much overcommits and he’s swimming in the crease. Then Reinhardt makes a nice pass to an open side. Peter is caught looking the wrong way and the Panther player has an open net to score at. It’s 42. This one kind of just goes into the top corner. Straight shot beats Patera. The Canucks though do get one back. It’s Elias Person here from a nice feed from Aander Kane. gets it on the open side and nets in his fifth of the season. Cuts the lead now to 5-3. We go to the third period where the chaos starts and Elias Patterson scores his second of the game. Backhander on Babsvki makes it a 54 game. And right after that, it’s Philip Heronic who ties the game up here. Another cross crease pass and we are all square. This is where you have to take advantage of the momentum as the Vancouver Conucks then sit back on this tie game and allow the Panthers to come and take it back. Deflection here from Bennett and it’s a 6-5 game. Then Marcus Person takes a dumb penalty for being flat on his heels and the Panthers score extend their lead to 75 after some very poor defensive coverage in the slot. Now that I’m watching this game back, I’m feeling more and more sorry for Peter. Very much got hung out to dry. The Canucks try and make a push back. Jake De Brusk, I think, hit a post on a power play with about 5 minutes to go, but Brad Marshian ended up icing this game with an empty net, making it an 85 final, and the Panthers will come away with the victory. I don’t have many thoughts other than, man, the defensive coverage. Just fix it. I don’t know what the coaches are telling these guys, but every single time that there’s a simple cycle or anything, the players are looking lost, losing their checks. It has to be better. Give me your thoughts in the comments. Thank you for watching. Subscribe if you’re new. I’ll see you in the next one. Peace out and take care.
the Vancouver Canucks lose 8-5 to the Florida Panthers. Elias Pettersson with 2 goals looked great. Quinn hughes and Evander Kane also had strong nights but the Canucks with Jiri Patera making his debut couldn’t hang on against the 2x NHL Stanley Cup Champs to complete the comeback.

At least their exciting to watch
Honestly, I thought Petra had a pretty good game. He was just left out to dry which sucks but he had an .825 which isn’t great but he let in 7 goals so it could have been so much worse
It could be worse…we could be Edmonton. At least the Canucks look like they care.
Cancelling my Sportnet Premium subscription. This team is not worth the time and money anymore. I'll maybe catch a national broadcast here and there, but I refuse to waste money on this shit.
After 21 games…the canucks are straight up below MID. Pk garbage, defence garbage, and zero shooting. Back to dogging this team again.
Canucks are surprisingly ok for how little they get shots on net
The only positive of this game was Hughes and Petey that’s it
They should have put lank in for the 3rd
We are #1 at GAA.
2nd game of back to backs, against the defending back to back Cup champion and we expected to win? With no second line centre? They scored 5 goals. That’s a feat in and of itself. EP40 was excellent. It was a 1992 style game. I loved it, except the result, but I wasn’t shocked.
Look at all the salt flowing in here lol. Half the team is injured. We are doing pretty good considering. Looking forward to a fun playoff race and enjoying the insanity.
Earned a split in the State of Florida. Kampf lacing up and getting acquainted. New goalie gets practice and saves a few. Sounds like progress to me.
Canucks are good. They don’t get shots though that’s the problem Adam’s foot talk to them about shots.
We still don’t have big hog, we’re gonna be alright
Time to split up Marcus Pettersson and Tyler Myers, cause my god they look horrible. 4th string goalie in net and on the 2nd end of a back to back, so I’m not going to get worked up over this loss. Grabbing 3/6 points is not bad for a road trip, especially against good teams. At least EP40 and Hughes are playing insane. Things could be way worse.
The shot totals over and over reflect a playstyle and a pattern of play which is reactive and passive. We dont dictate play enough, we concede far, far too many high danger chances, and the pk is whl level. This is all down to coaching, as logically, down so many peices, why would you play so open? Conceding chance after chance and prime real estate in central high danger areas. Final shots 40-15. That means we concede 2 shots every 3 minutes, and get one shot every 4 minutes. Last night in TB shots were 13-1 lightning after the 1st. The reality is past 2 games, scoring 11 goals on 40 odd shots or whatever it was, is down to luck. Outstanding favorable shot variance in the xg department. If this doesnt happen,, Canucks lose like 8-1 tonight and the video is an entirely different tone. Adam Foote and his comic book nose and bewilderment expression on his 98 iq face is a sentimentality hire.. merely to placate Hughes, in hopes he will stay, and hes cheap and in house as well. Not good enough. Team is constantly unprepared. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
Not true. If they had kept Silovs as backup instead of resigning Demko, who is prone to injury, it may have been a different season already. They wouldn't have been put in a position of using the backup goaltender from the Abby Canucks. They would likely have had two uninjured goaltenders to rely on. It also doesn't help that we still have key players that are injured, so we are literally playing NHL hockey with a lot of AHL players. Sadly, it is also affecting the Abby Canucks, who have only won one game on home ice so far this season.
I know the D wasn't great but Patera also looked horrible, hopefully no call ups for him again. Other than that this season is going phenomenally to be the start of a rebuild EP40 performing on both sides with bad deployments, Sherwoods numbers still look great for him, Boes doing decent you could actually get prospects and picks in for all these people now without having to pay someone to take EP.
I know they won't do it, but this is basically an ideal scenario for it especially if you believe Petey won't keep it up
name another team that pulls their AHL goalie up 😂
More like a clown show.
Well, it's nice to see the Canucks score more goals than before. Against the best goalie in the league.
I’m honestly really happy with how they played today. Couldn’t really do any better with what they have. They battled hard and petey looked sick
Ok but if you took Bobrovskis GA in this game and matched the amount of shots Patera faced , the score would have been 14-7 Vancouver…. he let in 1 third of the shots they took on him. Patera let in 17% of the shots he faced. He statistically played better than Bobrovski . I blame the Lack of defense and SOG. Florida isnt exactly a team you can walk all over , even when theyre 6 guys down.
Id like to see which team has the most goals on the least amount of shots on goal.. it has to be Vancouver… this team makes no sense at all lol
What's crazy is that Patera was the noticably better goalie in that game…
They been all over the place from the start of this year do you think part of it could be coaching?
you do realise that we just played back to back cup champions and their starter, with a half an AHL team, our 3rd string, and back end of a back to back schedule .. Right? I think you're being a little harsh on the boys, especially with your comments on the last half of the third. Sure, you can be harsh and have your opinion, but your description had more hope than your video.
Put this game on late. I saw the score and shot count, so I wasn't very interested. Then, after a shot, I hear the name Petera. Who? Wait, EBUG already? Quickly found out what is going on with Demko. We'll, the denial is gone, now. The most predictable setback occurred. See you all again next year, for the annual rolllercoaster of hope and denial!
They couldn't keep silovs. Get that through your head!!!! We would have had to try and send him down and lose him for nothing Do you not get that?
News flash – all Canucks fans take note!! Every team in the league is a rollercoaster. It’s the nature of sports. Some wins, some losses. Play well, play not so well and don’t get the bounces. CTFO. (Chill the F out). Such fragile constitutions. Unrealistic expectations
They hung in there with one of the best teams in the league, and with a rookie goalie on the second game back to back, only losing in the last half dozen minutes. Not bad
Considering Canucks Had AHL Goaltender who faced 40+ Shots ya he gave up 7 but still gave it his all,Then you have Two time Stanley Cup Champion taking only 15 shots and giving up 5 id say I'd say Patera held his own and luckily enough no teams in the west or our division is really dominating right now and Canucks are still in the mix
Mediocrity
Ain’t even mad tbh. They played great imo. 2 goals for EP40 too. We had a goalie playing his first game with us vs the champs. Ya they sucked with making shots but the amount of goals kinda made up for it
The only thing I was really unhappy about: pull that poor kid
Jiri is not the problem. Myers needs a change or long rest. Mancini should be here. Box out net area is needed.
pk is too aggressive. defence is chasing the puck. this reminds me of bruce coached canucks. exciting hockey but not a playoff worthy team.
the refs are pretty interesting: calling a penatly on the 2-2 goal when the teams on a pp, thats nuts
but when sherwood gets head hunted they dont call anything but just fighting
PS. Didnt Kane hit the bar when it was 5-5
