It’s OFFICIAL…

We get a huge update on Alexander Texier and the St. Louis Blues as an NHL insider revealed a huge report revealing a key situation which has huge implications on the Blues moving forward. But not only that, after coming off a dominant win versus the New York Islanders, one player in particular has completely flipped the script for the St. Louis Blues. And what he is doing is changing everything for the team. We have so much to break down, including an update on Alexander Texia and this one key player that has been changing the game for the Blues, plus so much more in this episode. You’re not going to want to miss it. But Darius, before we get into that, if you’re a part of the 50.9% watching this and you haven’t hit the sub button yet, make sure to go down and hit that free subscribe button. It means the world. And in return, we’ll give you daily updates from all around the team. But that dear, let’s just dive straight into the Texas situation that has been an ongoing situation with the St. Louis Blues over the past couple of days. We know yesterday that the Blues had placed Texier on unconditional waiverss for a contract termination. And from Chris Johnson coming just now that is an official unrestricted free agent after clearing unconditional waiverss, his contract has been terminated. Now listen, we’re not going to dive too much into the stats of Texas. We know what he brought to the team. He never really got to flourish with the team. But the biggest thing is getting off this $2.1 million contract without having to give up draft capital, which is a big deal for the Blues. What is your thoughts on the termination and what this extra cap space means? Well, he hasn’t played on the team or with the team since late October, I think, uh, the 26th. So, uh, he hasn’t played in a long time. So, like you said, you get out from under the $2.1 million without having to give up anything, any sweeteners to another team. So, uh, I thought that he was an okay player, but kind of out of sight, out of mind at this point. He’s not anybody that’s going to be making a difference for this team when we talk about where this team wants to go and where they are right now. So, I I don’t see it as a huge loss. I don’t at this point in time. Uh, again, he would have, I think, liked to see him get maybe some more ice time or something like that, like put in a few more games, but the situation is that it didn’t happen. They have a lot of bodies in the lineup now, whereas last year, maybe they didn’t have as many guys that have NHL experience like that. So, you know, like a bug stand, for example, who’s brought in like a suitor who’s playing up the middle. So, he was kind of the odd man out. They get out from that cap hit and now they free that up and they can go out and make a really big move if they want to at this year’s trade deadline depending on what happens or alternatively if they free up some more salary cap space by trading a guy like Braden Shen like we’ve been talking about, then it frees up a ton of salary cap space moving forward as well. So, uh the situation has finally come to a close. He has terminated his contract and it looks like he’s on his way by all accounts. Elliot Friedman, a couple others reporting as well to the Montreal Canadians. So, uh, that’s that. He’s no longer a St. Louis blue and now they have an extra roster spot as well. And I think the biggest thing is position, you get the extra roster spot, you get more cap space, 2.1. You can see the Blues having just under 6 million in cap space at the current moment. The biggest thing with this is if you’re going out, if this is a team that’s going to be a seller come trade deadline, this gives them an extra roster spot to take on another contract. You have extra cap space. If a team’s like, “Hey, we want Shin, we want X and O.” Going back the other way, you can take two players and a bad contract to add even more draft capital to a team that could add a bit. Listen, you have your first round pick in the next three years. You’re missing two seconds. You can go out and take on a bad contract. Get that extra second, an extra third, a couple lower picks. This gives the Blues a lot of room to also buy if they want to get into that. Darius, we’re seeing a team that came off a big win versus the Islanders last night. Listen, they’ve been struggling mightily to start the year. Still a bottom 10 team in the NHL. But I kind of want to segue this into listen, if the Blues are going to consistently keep getting better. We know the big game. They got outshot. Bennington stood on his head. But looking at the team get a big statement win versus a team that’s a little surprising with the New York Islanders being a wildard team. Do you think this could be the situation? Listen, we’re going to go into one key component of this game and one player that completely changed things, but could you see this being a momentum shift? And what is your thoughts about this game working out and maybe Logan Mayu comes in next game? It could be. A lot of people are going to scoff at that, but it could be a momentum shifter for the season. And the reason being is because yes, the Islanders surprisingly are a playoff team right now. They’re a current playoff team. They’re in a playoff spot. Bennington had a strong performance like you mentioned. And these are games that I think you can build off of. It’s a low-scoring game. Uh it’s a better game. You only led in one goal. You can kind of build confidence off of this. And not only that, one guy that we have been mentioning as of late and we probably should have been talking about all season, Pavo Buch, uh you know, the first year of his six-year deal, $8 million. He has a really good game in this game. He played a really I don’t want to say complete game. He had a little bit of negative impact as well, but he played a really good game and he gets his first even strength point in 500 years at this point. So he gets on the board as well with the Braden Shen goal and obviously he’s playing with D’vorski. So there seems to be something there. D’Vorski has the legs. He’s a young guy who’s hungry. You know, maybe pairing them together, there is something there. So I have to give credit to Jim Montgomery who by the way I think is a great coach and I don’t think is going anywhere. I think we’ve talked about that a little bit on the channel. I don’t think this is on Montgomery, right? can’t flip coaches every year at this point. So, uh I think that he’s trying his best with what he has and what the guys are giving him. So, it is interesting though. If things don’t turn around at this point, I think you have to start looking at a guy like Shen and maybe moving off of him. I am a little hesitant to do stuff like that. I would maybe look at somebody else, some of the other older guys on the team just because Shen is the captain. Uh he was here to win a Stanley Cup. Like the culture, all of that stuff, like that’s what he brings to the table. So, that would be a tough move if they decided to move off of him. But I feel like a win like this where you let in only one goal, you get a point from a guy who’s really really been struggling is something that I think you can build off of a little bit with that goalending performance as well. So, we’ll see where they take it. And not only that, I did want to mention Broberg, too. I want to give him his flowers because I believe he played 27 minutes last night as well. He was insane. So, he’s uh putting in a lot of work as well. I think he’s been actually pretty good all season. Like, he’s one guy that we haven’t really mentioned because he’s just been like fine. The rest of the team has been horrible. we’re focusing on that stuff. He’s just been fine doing his thing, right? So, uh, again, really, really good performance, uh, and really holding the defense core up last night. But some of the other guys too, Mayu didn’t get into the lineup, right? We were talking about him yesterday. Matthew Kessle does get into the lineup. Everyone looked pretty good last night. So, I think that’s something you can build off of. And I think the big thing is, listen, looking at Logan Mayu, you’re going to call him up to get him into a game. So, it’s going to be interesting if Jim Montgomery wants to look at Logan Mayu and say, “Hey, we just came off a big win. Do we shake up the lineup to get the kid back in or do we continue rolling? But I think the biggest output from this lineup and something that a lot of people might overlook is how big D’vorski has been for this team at the very young age. Listen, coming through, he has 12 games putting up to 14 games in the NHL in his entire career. four points over the 12 games might not look like the flashiest numbers, but what we’re getting from D’vorski is a big thing that a lot of people continuously look at and how he’s developing as a full-time player within the lineup. I mean, listen, a low sample size, but you can see number four ranked on this for expected goals for is the line we’ve seen with B, D’Vorski, and Shen. This is a line that has been jelling. you get the young body in between and it’s a little shocking because I know a lot of including us ourselves spoke on D’Vorski maybe joining the team as a winger but going in to take the center position on Shen was surprising but Darius I think the biggest thing is looking at the team itself with D’Vorski stepping up with how he’s playing do you think this could be a turning point for BC and Shen two guys struggling to get a young guy an energized player who wants to stay on this team to kind of flip the script on that line and maybe add even more value to both players. Well, when I look at something like that and I look at even Austin Matthews in the league as well, I find it hard to believe because if you look at earlier this season with the Leafs specifically, they put Knander on his line to get him going. I don’t know why you need to put somebody on someone else’s line if they’re making $13 million to get the $13 million player going. That’s just the Leafs. But that’s how I’m viewing this as well. Why do you need the kid from Springfield who was a great player by the way and I love what he’s doing so far this year and I don’t know if he should go down at any point ever again because he does look like an NHLer. Uh and he looks super dangerous on the power play as well. Like what a weapon. So uh I don’t know if you need this guy in the middle to get these guys going. These guys are pros. They should be able to get going. But you can’t deny that he has been playing really well. And if you can bring up those line combinations as well in terms of expected goals again, uh look right below four that you were saying with five, right? You got Kyu, D’vorski, and Joseph. And I know Kyru does drive play and all those things as well. And there are games this year where the Blues have lost, but Kyru has looked good. There’s a common theme there where it’s D’Vorski, right? So, again, less minutes played, that’s for sure. But he is, you know, driving play. Uh he’s picking up some points. He has four points in 12 games so far. Uh but again, he just looks dangerous in certain areas like he can be a threat. So, uh maybe he gets them going and I mean, it happened last game. So, if they can keep going, if that line can keep producing, it is only one game against the Islanders. Let’s keep that in mind. But if they can continue to build off of what happened in that game, then they will be okay. And it’s it’s a weird year. The West is a little bit, you know, crazier right now than the East. The East looks horrible, but it is still kind of wide open in the West. You can easily find yourself back in a playoff spot. So, if they get going here, they build off this, they ride some momentum, I think this team can be okay. And we know that they are in theory on paper built for the playoffs anyway. And I mean fans, what is your thoughts on this? Is this a lineup you’d like to see Jim Montgomery finally stick with? Is this something you want in the blender? Is Logan Mayu joining the lineup? And what’s your thoughts on Texas? Let us know all your thoughts down in the comments. And speaking on comments, let’s go straight into com today from David. He says, “Bring up Otto Stenberg.” And listen, Stenberg is a fan favorite, one of my favorite players within the Blues system. This is a guy that showed out in the preseason. So maybe we see him join with the next injury on this team. And listen, we wish no injuries on any players, but I do think Stenberg is the next man up. What are your guys thoughts? Who is the most ready prospect in the system? Let us know all your thoughts down in the comments. We love reading through it. And plus, you can be on comments of the day. 1. "Dominant win" yesterday?

    A lil overboard isn't it….

    We simply won……

9-3 Buffalo over Chicago was dominant

Wouldn't call a team win who's struggling for 3 goals "dominant" anything

  2. The desire shown by Suter and Broberg in the last ten seconds to close it out was great to see, now if the rest of the team can find that things will get better.

  3. Texier leaving is a net gain. Glad the Blues can write that off. PBD….keep them together. Dvorsky will only get better with the two vets. Last 3 games is the best the team has looked all year. Ride it out and see what happens. Mailloux…I still believe in the kid, but don't set him up to fail. If he is better off in Springfield to build his confidence, then wait. If the team struggles and we move Dmen at the deadline, then bring him up.
