Charles Davis in the booth never again
This was an evenly matched game. We made 2 massive mistakes in the second half which decided this game.
We went for it on 4th and down, giving a struggling offense field position. I like being aggressive, but this wasn’t the best game to make that decision. Then, Breece fumbled at the 2 on a great defensive play, which basically erased any chance of making it a close game.
The defense played very well. Lamar looked very slow but we contained him pretty much all game. The Ravens pretty much only had one good drive all game (aided by penalties but still). If that happens, you should win.
We know what the offense is for this team at this point. However, I didn’t think we played too bad there when we weren’t being too conservative. Tyrod looked much better than Fields (threw a pick as I was writing this lol)
Shoutout to Metchie, again. 2 straight games with a touchdown.
god this loss feels great
on our way to the number 1 overall pick
Only positive will be if the giants win but of course they’re showing to be just as incompetent as us
this sub will simultaneously hype up Dan Campbell and point to his turnaround as something we should emulate and then turn around and complain that our coach went for it on 4th and 2. like do you want the team to play aggressive or not?
Hopefully the Giants win so we could solidify the #2 spot in the draft 😏
Last time I was this apathetic was probably 2016
Tired of tanking and rooting for losses. Just want to win, man. 😭
They just said on the TV broadcast, that this was the 10th consecutive game that the Jets have lost after scoring first.
I didn’t know this stat, but it explains the bad feeling that I get every time the Jets are the first team to score in a game.
Its just staggering how this team cant even stumble into an interception. The amount of times you even just see a batted pass or bobbled pass end up in a defenders hands…this team has to be on aome historical pace lol.
Matchie looks like a viable slot right now and that’s a good add for us. Still need a #2 deep threat type but the offense looked far better under Taylor.
Takeaways:
Extend or tag Beeece.
OL is strength of the team.
There’s some talent behind GW in the WR room.
Special teams stats very good.
Tyrod is also cooked.
We need a QB, but shouldn’t over draft one. A veteran with a quick release and accuracy would be fine.
It was good to see the receivers get more action with Tyrod in. No further compliments
Jameis Winston has nearly 400 passing yards today. Our QB’s haven’t reached that in the last 3 games combined.
Jets didn’t embarrass themselves. Young defensive did alright. Metchie might be a good future WR3/4. Still maintain the draft positioning. Good loss
While it is a loss, this game felt much more watchable and in reach than some other losses we took earlier this year, which is at least something. Metchie looks to be a really good pickup, and AD Mitchell has shown flashes, and consistently gets open, so I’m happy about those pickups. If anything, I’m glad we’re assessing our WR additions. Still think we need a solid WR#2 from this draft, but I’m liking the recent pickups.
Guys. We’re not very good at football.
Showed fight. Preserved the pick. Fine with the result
Lost but had some decent efforts so it is all good.
W do not miss Quinnen or Sauce at all.
My main takeaways:
– Metchie should have a future on this team. He’s not “don’t sign a second starter across from Wilson” good, but I like the idea of a guy with his acceleration being on the WR depth chart.
– I’m still banging on the table to re-sign Breece Hall. That fumble was unfortunate, it’ll haunt but I will NOT begrudge him for putting in that extra effort. Wasn’t like he was loose with the ball, the defender just made an opportune play. Hall is going to help a rookie QB out SO much next year as a blocker, occasionally explosive runner, and reliable checkdown option. 10-12 million a year, it’s not that much for a player with THIS much positive impact.
– Taylor is a good QB to evaluate the offensive talent, but he’s merely so-so. I don’t know if we bring him back next year, wouldn’t hate it assuming the price is right.
– AZ Thomas is still making rookie mistakes, Adams is a schmuck for thinking they wouldn’t call that PI, but the defense feels stable after losing two of its cornerstones.
Time for a homestand. I’m reasonably confident that they can actually pick up some momentum and get some wins over this next stretch, though I’m sure a lot of folks would rather they didn’t so they can easily get whatever QB is on top of the list for now. (I don’t care to look or speculate till the season is over, one bad bowl game and the lists change)
As an aside, did y’all know that John Metchie III is Taiwanese? Apparently he’s only the third player in the NFL born in that country, the first in several decades. His mom is from there, his dad is Nigerian, they moved to Canada later and then he went to school in the states.
I note this because it’s so rare for an NFL player to be from Asia. I only noticed because as soon as I looked up his stats his birth country was there too.
Career game for him today, not that he’s gotten many opportunities before.
Offense looked much better (even though only 10 points) with Tyrod but let’s be clear, he’s washed. Makes me somewhat hopeful a rookie can provide at least a competent offense.
Unreal how the defense still hasn’t had an INT and only one takeaway. I get that those are volatile, but this needs to be studied.
I know people are okay with the aggression of going for it on 4th and 2 but I think it was dumb and ultimately cost them the game. There’s a difference between calculated aggression and just YOLO’ing it. Not the right situation for that and even worse to not have breece on the field for that play or the one before. The jets were controlling the game at that point and gave Baltimore a life raft to get back in it with that choice. Hopefully a learning experience for AG
Our two new WRs are looking good though. Especially Metchie. Would be awesome to have three solid receivers for whoever is the next QB.
They competed in a loss against a superior team and helped their draft position I will take that
The titans didn’t look like total ass today. I think they can win at least one more game.
Did not watch but the tank is still rolling I see
God that fumble was BACK BREAKING 😭 absolute momentum killer
Don’t make we sweat just give up points on the first drive
Ride Tyrod until the wheels fall off and then when he inevitably gets banged up just throw in Cook for the fun of it. Want to see three QBs this season as has become accustomed the past few years for this team
I’m bummed, but if we’re being honest, a relatively competitive loss was probably the best outcome
I want Glenn to be the guy so bad bro
Aaron Glenn might be a solid coach one day, but he definitely isn’t one today.
I always say Trevor Lawrence is better than any QB the Jets have ever had recently, but he would be hearing A LOT more criticism if he played in NY. Dude is an acceptable starting QB but nowhere near the “generational” label that everyone attached to him
That was a well-coached and motivated team today. I loved it.
Once again, its funny how we traded Sauce and Q and the defense somehow got better. 1 week is a fluke, 2 weeks is a coincidence, but 3 weeks is a pattern.
Metchie is playing himself into the WR3/4 conversation for next year.
I really like how Mitchell gets separation, I just think he needs a season with a competent QB to really get his development going.
Tyrod was unimpressive but he does some of the little things well enough.
Overall, we were competitive in this game and I like that. It really does feel like we’re an offseason and a draft away from the turnaround, but thats happened before. Still, games like this give me more confidence in AG maybe being the guy to turn it around.
