  1. This is either going to go really well for the Mets or it will blow up beautifully in their faces

  2. Welcome distraction from this cowboys game lol. (Edit: not a distraction anymore lol).

Will always remember that home run in Arizona in game 5, though. Was great to have Marcus as a Ranger.

  3. Wow! The entire 2023 WS team is almost completely gone. Seager, Jung, Carter (if he’s healthy) are the only batters left, right?

  4. This one of those moments I’m so greatful we won it all in 2023, because unless you are the Dodgers, your window can close so quickly.

  5. What a weird trade for the Mets. Semien is making more money than Nimmo, is older, and had a below-average OPS+ last year (and at age 35 odds are it won’t get better). Plus, the Mets have a glut of IF with Acuna, Baty, Vientos, Lindor, McNeil.

  6. Mets improve their run prevention, save 45 million across 2028-2030, free up space in their OF for a better player AND get less LHB heavy.

They moved from a position of strength (run scoring) to improve a position of need (run prevention) by acquiring Semien’s glove.

And I loved Nimmo and wanted him to be a lifer but it’s not nearly as simple as “Mets got older and worse.”

  7. The Mets simply could not keep running out this slow (and getting slower) outfield for the next few years. I bet they don’t care much about getting Semien – if they get one decent year out of him it’s a win. I think it’s all about freeing up the OF spots to get more athletic.
