I can’t wrap my head around the fact he is gone. I wanted him to be a Met for life.

  1. I wanted to see him be a lifelong Met, but alas, no. To me, he will always be the happiest man in baseball, a real Child of God, I will root for his success in Texas.

  2. Reminded me every game that whether it was your best day, your worst day, some Tuesday or your birthday, every day was a good day!

  3. I always have a favorite Met, but a few stand out more than the regular favorites. Honestly I can’t think of someone I’ve loved being on this team as much as Nimmo since Mookie. Maybe Jose Reyes.

I’ve moved to Colorado, and it looks like the Rangers will be here next season. I will be there with my Mets Nimmo jersey. 😀

  4. I am so incredibly sad about this. He deserved to be a Met for life and to see his name on the list of the longest tenured Mets ever. I’m completely shocked. This one makes my heart hurt.

  5. He had a career year. And what exactly are the Mets getting. An older player that doesn’t hit as well. Here we go again

  6. This team continues to break hearts, even in the off season. Thank you for everything Nimmo, through the hustle walks, great catches, slumps and the food poisoning.

  7. I’ve been watching him since he came up AAA in the 51s & have been a fan since the beginning. I’m heartbroken.

  8. Steve Cohen is too wrapped up in opening a casino. He should sell The Mets to someone who knows what they are doing.

  9. I wish him nothing but happiness and blessings. He did so much for the team, he’s a lifer to me.

  10. I love the trade nobody realize how bad contract was 5 more years for a 33 turning bad legs non CF anymore I’d rather just eat Marcus’ short deal maybe he has 1 more good year playing 1st base with Alonso as permanent DH and don’t get me wrong I like Brandon a lot.

  11. have to imagine at least one middle infielder is gone now with semien, and now a hole is open in left. i know he’s lost more then a step but nimmo was a core part of this locker room and will surely be missed. i think he would have been a met for life.

  12. Well, this sucks.

Perhaps it makes sense from a business perspective, and while I can understand that, from a purely fan perspective, it doesn’t make it feel less crappy.

I definitely hoped he and Alonso would be Mets for life.

  13. I understand all the people explaining the business and financial aspects of this, but the emotional toll is brutal and no amount of analysis can convince me this was a *great* decision to make.

  14. He will be OK, Texas makes even more sense for his family as well. He’s from Wyoming. He’s rich, good looking guy, married to a beautiful woman and they just started a family. Let’s keep things in perspective.

  15. I liked Nimmo a lot but I think we all know for this team to have a future he had to be moved. We need the corner outfield slot and to not have the next 5 years of that contract around our neck, I dont think Pete is back and I think mcneil gets moved. I also see them moving Acuna, Mauricio and Vientos(Maybe 2 of the last 3) honestly.
