NHL Highlights | Avalanche vs. Blackhawks – November 23, 2025

as they line up at center ice. This one underway. Glad to have you with us on Chicago Sports Network. Classic on the loose puck. Plays it across to Crevier. Tipped to the line by Bertusi. Broken up by Taves. And there’s Barard as he works the puck up the right side. Nate has tried to tip it in. Broken up neatly by Blik. And here come the Hawks the other way. Bernard carries in. Dropped off to Green with a shot in the pad. Save by Wedgewood. Good chance for the Hawks early. Rock Nelson in the corner. Puts it behind the Hawks net to the near side. Picked up by Lanniscott with a shot and Spencer Knight makes his first save with no rebound. One touch pass by Olivus right there. Grizzly came across slashed across to take him but the weak side defenseman Molinsky joined the rush on the right side. There you go. Nazar on the ice now for the faceoff after the icing call against Nathan McKinnon and he wins it cleanly. Kaiser with a shot. Club save by Wedgewood who hangs on Connor Bernard over the line with Princel passing through in front. Oh, great save by Wedgewood off Green. That would have been spectacular. Long shot goes high by Blaskic. Here’s Dickinson. No stop on the half boards. Put it in deep for Donado. Donado got in front of the rapper on Wedgewood down. Where’s the puck? He’s not sure. It’s still loose. They jab away and he falls over backwards with the puck underneath. Colton that that had the potential pass across. You’d like him to fire that puck. Wenov just fired off the draw. Wedgewood made the save and the abs able to bring it out. Manson will play it in deep. Eiser crashing into the corner. Puck chipped to the near side. Burns pinching. [Applause] Parker Kelly took a bump. Now it’s Corell by Leanov. Long feed finds McV. He’s got some room. Mav stopped by Wedgewood and tripped up on the play. is one of the great tough Blackhawk defenseman. There’s the use of the bank of the boards and then the position of MB gets around the defenseman Manson and with the speed of Mob. Now he tries to go to the forehand there. He gets tripped up by the shaft of the stick after the shot was taken. Plays it back to Bernard. Burns broke a stick. There’s a pass in front of jabbed and Wwood down. Able to cover up Donado with the puck. Feeds it down low to Doc. Pressure. Nice play back to Renel. Here’s Donado. Green’s in front. Donado passing kicked away. It was actually a shot, but Wedgewood able to make the save with the right pad. That shot. Here’s a jangle. Green. What an opportunity out of Bernard setup and a pad save by Scott Wedgewood. Now Burns plays it ahead. Manson makes a move. Gets around. Pass off the mark. Fox head up ice. Threeon one. Moore shoots and that’s out of play. Was it? Oh, crossbar. Close call. Travier skates to the line. Puck all the way around. Taves banks it over to the car. That’s blocked by Bernard. And here’s Petusi. Hasn’t Green again. He put it wide. Ryan Green’s had three great a chances in this first period. It was illegal. And the Hawks the power play for a second time. Bernard fori stopped by Wedgwood the hash marks and basically leaving the shot in the middle of the ice on the Hawks. You got to start taking that and I don’t try to step around me doc follows up gets the puck into turns to the forehand. A pass save by Wedgewood the 13th shot of the period for the Hawks game. So that’s not as easy as maybe having the puck on your stick the entire time and controlling flow. So you can see it. I mean, they’ll pick it up, but certainly they don’t have the juice right now. And the Hawks have got to take advantage of that. Minnesota in town Wednesday, Nashville here on Friday. There’s a shot that find it way through to Knight. Got a late beat on it, but in good position to make the save. He came off the ace quickly. He was reaching and Josh Manson got a good piece of him. Burn shoots and again a save by Knight. Squeezes the right arm to the body and he’s able to hang on. Stays on the bench. Good sign. Little tip in by Lechen and bounces right to Knight who hangs on just past the three-minute mark of the second period. Rather severe angle as you take a look at the season point leaders 37 33 32 and Connor’s there at 31. Dickson wins the faceoff. Mave. Oh, look out. Got away with it. Almost stolen by Landiskov. Hawks get it out. ABS take it away. Burns long pass off a stick into the zone. Knight out to play it. sweeps it over to Kaiser. He hits Ma. He’s got the N with him. Twoon two. They crisscross on the line. Shot. Blocker save by Whitewood. A better lead when he’s when he’s in it. Played back to the line to Gerard. Has some traffic. Makes a pass instead. Molinsky with a shot. Knight got a piece of that. Nazar chips it ahead. Mard’s pass finds McKinnon. Puck played in deep. A rare slapper there on the right side by Connor. Here’s McKinnon. Sharp angle. Deflected on goal. He gets it back. Makes a pass to Burns. Shoots. Stopped. Rebound. Stopped. Two. I was lucky enough to be on Charlie’s team. Yeah, you want to be on that side. Yes. Josh started in Anaheim. Fifth year in Colorado. Pass back to Mar trying to get his way around McKay. Able to work it down the boards under the corner. Back to Mar. Shoots. Blocker save. Knights. Pressure. Did a good job to keep it away from Green. Nes back to Mar. McKinnon faked the one-time. Now he fires a wrist shot. A goal. Blocker saved by Knight. Cut off on the far side by Landis God. Flipped back to the line. Marck McKinnon. Put it in front. Pinballs around. Knight able to fight it off. Lenov jabbing at it. Tied up by Kelly. Brent Burns over to Taves with a shot. Blockered away by Spencer Knight. Kidden takes a spell in the corner. Chip back to Maron Taves. There’s a one-time pad save off Lechan by Knight. Boy, just off the end of the blade. Yep. On the back door. Here’s McKinnon with a shot and that stopped by Knight. You know, they just wanted asurances that hockey was going to be his main sport. He gave them that and now he’ll continue it on to USHL. And then Michigan State next season. Good oneonone play there by Grizzlick. Had the gap closed nicely. Nowhere to go for the forward. Dumped in on goal and Knight gave it away. There’s a shot. Stopped. Rebound. They score. McCar sneaks it in on a long rebound. Goes top corner. Makes it one- nothing Colorado. The Avalanche get a good scoring chance as a result of that. There’s a little chip in play. So, he’s got it here. He’s trying to play it to the I believe to the forward Laferty and it gets picked off. He ends up making a save on the ensuing play as you can see there and they get there’s the shot left hand shot goes wide on a severe angle goes off the stick and the pad of the goalie right over there to the right-handed Mar and he just fires this off the near post handling you’re right Pangar is one of the better puck handling goalies in the league and it winds up in the net on the rebound as back on the attack makes a save off Colton that with the left arm. He’s able to hang on with a minute 23 to go in the period. 21 games. Let’s look at it. Hasn’t happened often. Fact, the last team to do it was that 2012 2013 Blackhawks team rookie defenseman makes a pass all the way across. Here’s McKay turning in the corner. Fires one back to Blasy. He shoots and that’s blocked in front. Sits free. Donado wrap around save. He’s down. Pump bounces free on the wraparound. Still one- nothing ABS to sweep it back behind. Moore sticks with it. There’s a pass and a shot by Terabine and stopped by Wedgewood. Oh, a great look on the setup from Moore to Terrain and some time and he he makes a powerful move wide. Olivesson had him checked pretty well, but he gets it back right here. And here’s the little stick handle maneuver there. And he waits and he waits and he puts right between the stick of the defenseman and the other defenseman. And right on that tape to Terrain and Terrain and just tries to jam that through and the goal win the draw. Puck to center to land a Scott and it’s fed ahead. Here’s a chance to right in stop by N. Does the Spitzer keeps it out? Pile up on the side of the hole. comes free and Kaiser there and the fans are seeing it right now. They cannot believe it. Great save by Spencer Knight to keep it a one- nothing game. Cut back move by Russ Colton. Really a good move by Colton and a better save. Knight pushes over to his left. Keeps his right pad there sealed. Makes the save. Down the boards to Terrain in deep behind the net to Vertusi. Chuck in front. Big save. Wedgewood off danger the last two games that they shut out. Nashville didn’t deserve that win. They got it because of Blackwood. The other Wood gets this one here. Wedgewood with this save here off the blocker and the stick going to his right. Cleared out and that’ll find its way down the ice. And time winding down. Kennan rides Lechon off to the boards and the horn sounds. Late push. Terrific chance in the final minute. [Music]

Cale Makar scored the lone goal of the game, Scott Wedgewood put up a 22-save shutout, and the Colorado Avalanche blanked the Chicago Blackhawks 1-0.

  1. The goals aren't flowing but the goaltending has been ice cold for the Avs with B2B shutouts from Mackwood & Wedgie. Happy Birthday Cap.
    Lets Go Avalanche!

  2. It’s crazy that after so many years of goaltender struggles, we now have two of the best in the league on the same team. Love this team. Go Avs.

  3. Looks like the Avs were a bit cold in the first period and Hawks had all the shots, but they wrestled momentum back in the 2nd and then just clung on in the 3rd. Sometimes you don't win big, or you win a bit 'ugly' – but if you're getting the job done and banking the points, that's what matters the most. And on the road. Solid stuff 🙂

  4. The league scheduling of the Avs are horrible. They don’t play for 3 to 4 games, then plays 3 games in 4 nights with 1 being back to back. This is there 3rd back to back games already. Next week, they have another back to back game. Quite ridiculous.

  5. This game was a bit of a surprise. I thought this was going to be an absolute slaughter. The Avs have been a little off the last couple of games. The Hawks should thank their lucky stars that the final score was 1-0.

  6. As an Avs fan this season, I’m entitled to not only a win, but a barn burner every game. So disappointing… 😴

P.s. Totally kidding. Keep it rolling fellas!

P.s.s. Wedgie is an absolute stud.

  7. What a game. Two teams with so much speed made it really awesome to watch. As a Hawks fan I'm sad they didn't get the win, but against a red hot Avalance the outcome isn't all that bad. Incredible plays from Wedgewood and Knight was great too.

  8. Looking back it seems I've always enjoyed a low scoring hockey game. The constant battle is why I'm here. This game was really good.
